Friday 13th November, 2009 It was almost two months since everything had gone wrong with Stacey, which had taken him quite a few weeks to get over. Or, well to be more precise, he had thought he was over it after about a month, but when he’d met Olivia, and they started a relationship, he realised it was too soon. Then there was Loreli just a couple of days before meeting Olivia, he really had thought he had learned his lesson from that encounter, but obviously not. Unfortunately Brendan Harris will always wear his heart on his sleeve, no matter how much he tries to tell himself he will not instantly fall for a girl again. However, he felt like he was finally getting himself back on track, Libby was coming to him a lot more now, rather than always pestering Grayson, not that he blamed her, for a couple of weeks Brendan hadn’t really been paying her the attention he could or should have because he was trying to get over everything. It was a total godsend having Grayson around. He hoped if he ever did get into a new relationship Grayson wouldn’t feel like he had to move out, because Brendan loved having him around and he knew Libby would probably die if Gray ever felt he had to leave. Today he had decided to go and treat Libby to a gift; she had seen one an advert on the television for those blue nose bears, and said she thought they were real pretty. Of course Libby being Libby never actually asked for it, because she had never really asked for anything, probably because she wasn’t used to getting spoiled when she was with her mom. She always just gave away some hints, and then Brendan would pick up on it, and go and buy her the said item, like he was doing now with getting her the blue nose bear. He had now bought the bear, and was just heading to his favourite superstore which he hadn’t been in for a couple of weeks as he usually bought in bulk so he didn’t have to go shopping too often when he saw a crowd outside it. It didn’t take too long for Brendan to get closer, and he realised the girl doing the reporting was Melody Webb. So he waited until he was sure she was finished her little report and then before going up to her and saying anything, he made his way to the owner of the superstore and spoke to them. “I don’ know how much more ya need, but ya’ve always been ma favourite store to get ma groceries in, so I hope ya don’ mind if I give ya this.” Brendan then went into his pocket and pulled out his cheque book and wrote out a cheque in the name of the store for five thousand American dollars and handed it over to the owner. She looked at him with wide eyes, “Thank you so much.” Then threw her arms around him and hugged him, Brendan couldn’t do anything but laugh out loud. When she took her arms away and he stepped back, he grinned at her tilting his head slightly and then in a rather loud voice he said, “Well, I sure hope tha’ helps ya out some more, so maybe in the next few weeks when I come to get ma bulk shoppin’ in I see a major improvement in ma favourite superstore?” Brendan then made his way over to where Melody was and walked up behind her, grinning, “Well, well, if it ain’ little Melody Webb. It’s been too long girl.” Then just in case she didn’t remember him or recognise him, as it was quite a few years since they were at school together he decided to add, “Ya do remember me don’ ya?” He was still grinning as he waited for her to turn around, with his dimples in force and his floppy fringe falling over his eyes. Even when he had caught a glimpse of her before he had went to give the cheque to the superstore owner; he couldn’t help but think how she had blossomed. Not that she was ugly at school, hell no, but she was even more beautiful than he remembered her, except back in school they were only friends. Brendan then realised maybe he would always wear his heart on his sleeve, because seeing her again raised some inner feelings he hadn’t known existed for that girl.

It's was Friday, and normally Melody didn't have anything in the line of work to do till at least the afternoon, a couple of hours before the six o'clock news. But since the entire week a few of the staff were off sick, Mel had voluntarily said that she would cover a few news stories that the viewers had sent in. There was always someone who wanted a news story to be covered. The main ones which were always on the news were robberies or drug busts, and today was no different. There were two stories sitting on the main desk: one was for a man who was going to trial after being found with drugs in his house, and another where a supermarket was announcing the winner of a raffle. Decisions, decisions, thought Mel, knowing full well which one she wanted to have. She instantly put her name to the supermarket story. Her co-anchor was not impressed that he had to follow the drug dealer story, and politely told her so by giving her the finger. Mel, being the smart ass she was, kindly pretended to take it and put it in her back pocket. Then she grabbed her bag, and her camera man Phil, and headed out to cover the story. It was getting towards midday, and Mel hoped that this story would only be a short one to record, so that she could grab some lunch, edit the video, then have the rest of the afternoon free till she had to do some news related stuff before the six o'clock news. Once they arrived at the market place, Mel got out, and waited for Phil to get out and get the equipment. Grabbing her bag, she headed in the direction of the grocery store. The sun was high, and even though it was warm, Mel still managed to wear her professional clothes, including her black jacket, over a nice white top. They soon arrived right in front of the supermarket, and acknowledged the store's owner. Mel looked around, after chatting with them, and looked around to see where they could set up. There was a shady spot at the front of the store, and Mel decided to stand there. "Phil, just set up just over there. I am going to stand here so that we can get a shot of the store from inside." Once everything was set up, Mel stood where she said she would, then waited for Phil to count down to one, then Mel was off: "Well today, Palmer's Supermarket are drawing out the winner of their raffle. The prize is six months of free groceries. Now that would be great. The money that was raised from this is going towards renovations to the store. So I am sure that we will be back for the grand re-opening." Mel turned to the owner, who held out the bucket with the tickets inside. The owner asked a little girl in the crowd to draw out a ticket, and then the owner looked at it, announcing the winner. A middle aged woman ran out from the crowd screaming, and laughing. She showed the winning ticket, and the owner acknowledged that she is the winner of the free groceries. Mel smiled, and then turned towards the camera. "There you have it. One very happy, lucky winner. I am sure that the prize will come in handy. Until next time. This is Melody Webb reporting for LV Channel 1" A few seconds went passed, then Mel did the cut sign. "Cut Phil. How was that?" Phil turned off the camera. "Looked good Mel. Might as well grab something to eat for lunch, then we can go back and edit the tape." Mel smiled and nodded, "Sounds good." Mel turned around and heard the woman who owned the store thank someone. Shrugging, she turned around, and went to help Phil with some of the stuff. Then she heard that unmistakable voice. Mel instantly turned around, and gave Brendan the biggest smile. "Well hello stranger. Mr. Newspaper Man. How could I forget you." Mel put the stuff down, along with her bag, and wrapped her arms warmly around Brendan's neck. "It has been far too long." Letting Brendan go, she stood back and looked at him. "You haven't really changed a lot. Maybe the hair is a bit longer. Well, actually a lot longer, and you got tall. Way tall. But other than that, you seem the same Brendan to me." Mel turned to Phil, then remember what she was meant to be doing. "I, uh, just need to help put this stuff back in the van, but did you want to grab a quick lunch. It is just that I have to get back a bit later to edit that footage that we just took." Mel beckoned for Brendan to follow, as her and Phil headed towards the van to put the equipment in the van. She turned to Phil. "You go and grab some lunch, and I will meet you back at the station a bit later this afternoon." Mel grabbed her bag, putting it over her shoulder, and waited for Brendan's thoughts on the lunch idea.

The soon as Melody turned around and Brendan saw that smile on her face he knew she remembered him, so his own smile got even bigger, just emphasising his dimples all the more. Her smile always did light up her face, and he was happy to see that hadn’t changed. When she spoke, calling him Mr. Newspaper Man and how could she forget him, he tilted his head to the side, eyes sparkling with his hair still flopping over them. “Glad ya ain’ forgotten me, because I sure as hell ain’ forgotten yerself.” He then watched as Melody put her stuff down and soon her arms were around his neck, Brendan didn’t hesitate then in wrapping his arms around her waist and hugging her right back. When she said it had been far too long, Brendan felt himself drag her into the hug a little more. “Damn righ’ it’s been too long.” He chuckled, when she let go of him then and stepped back, Brendan found he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Damn she’s gorgeous he thought to himself.
Melody then spoke some more, commenting on his hair being longer, a lot longer and he was much taller than she remembered him, but other than that he hadn’t changed much. “Yeah, guess I take ma height off ma dad, as fer the hair, jus’ felt like a change, an’ reckon I kinda suit it, so it stayed.” He chuckled and then continued, “Ya ain’ changed much either to be honest Melody, jus’ got even more beautiful if am allowed to say such things to ya?” He winked and tilted his head to the side once more as he kept looking at her, the whole time finding it very difficult to stop smiling at her. How he hadn’t fallen for her back in his school days was amazing, but then, he hadn’t fallen for Olivia either, funny it should have been that way, when both of them were good friends to Brendan, then one came back into his life and he messed it up, now the other had just come back into his life, and his head was giving the warning bells to take it slow, but his heart was telling him something different.
Melody then said she had to pack away her things into the van and asked if he wanted to grab some lunch. She then beckoned with her hand for him to follow, so he did just that. He looked at his watch, and realising there was plenty of time before Libby was due home from school, he reckoned he could do lunch, although if he felt he was going to run late, he knew he could just text Grayson and make sure he’d be home for Libby, or he would go and collect, the two of them were thick as thieves. Brendan had to shake his head a little as he thought about how much trouble the pair of them had conjured together since he came into their lives. Brendan couldn’t believe he had gone from having one sister, to a brother and a daughter in a matter of a few months. His family had changed so much and for the better. “Yeah, lunch would be good Melody, I ain’ got nowhere to be jus’ yet.”
Once Melody was finished packing away her things she told her cameraman to go and get some lunch and she would meet him back at the station later in the afternoon, and soon she seemed to be all Brendan’s so to speak. “Well I know this little place we could go to if yer interested, it ain’ tha’ far from here, an’ I totally recommend it.” Brendan suggested as he grinned at her. In truth the place he was speaking of, a restaurant called Aureole was far from small, in fact it was a big lavish restaurant with plush seats, but Brendan never did do things by half, and if he was going to take Melody for lunch, he was going to do it in style. He then waited for her reply before heading off in the general direction of the said restaurant.

Melody just continued smiling, seeing Brendan's own smile. Those dimples, thought Mel, they always broke girl's hearts when he showed those off. She laughed a little, as Brendan spoke about not got forgetting her. Well back then she was just someone who only a couple of people befriended. Mel had kept to herself, but once Brendan had taken care of those bullies who teased her, she had started to come out of her shell, and was the person she was now because of him taking her under his wing so to speak. Mel was definately a more confident person, no wonder she loved being in front of the camera.
She had then hugged him, and Brendan commented about what she said. Mel felt him bring her in close, and it felt nice to finally meet up with him. At the beginning, when she had started out at the television station back home, she had wondered what Brendan had been up to. So now she would get the chance to catch up properly. After Mel commented about his looks, she had to smirk a bit, when he commented about herself. She had to shake her head, feeling a blush come over her cheeks. "You still have a way with words, that it all I have to say." She then put her hand on his arm. "And yes you are allowed. You have my approval to say nice things to me." Mel then gave him another smirk, and then picked up her stuff, and gestured for him to follow her to the van.
When Brendan said that lunch would be good, she smiled, and nodded. "Good. It will be good to catch up after twelve years." As Mel finished helping pack away, and told her camera man to go and get some lunch, she turned to face Brendan, after putting her bag over her shoulder. He spoke of a place that they could go to grab some lunch that wasn't far from where they were right now. "Why not. I am always up for trying a new place out. I think I know what place it is, as we have done a few restaurant reviews on the news." Mel smiled at him, "Lead the way."
Once they were off, Mel linked her arm in his, and thought of asking him something along the way. "So how has Mr. Harris been over the last few years. Any exciting new? Surely you and your high school sweetheart are married by now?" Mel being the news reporter she was, she hadn't seen a wedding ring on his left hand, but really these days some guys didn't always wear them. So for all she knew he was married with kids already, which was great for him, but she was still single.

Brendan chuckled and winked when Melody commented that he still had a way with words and continued saying he was allowed to say nice things to her. His eyes were sparkling as he continued to grin at her, someone who could take his compliments without telling him to stop, or trying to deny what he had said to them. The touch of her hand on his arm set another alarm going off in his head and his heart. It certainly sounded like his head and heart were going to have a lot of arguments over the way he felt about Melody before their little impromptu meeting was over. “Well, am sure glad ya don’ mind me complimentin’ ya, cause a woman should always be complimented an’ treated like a princess in ma eyes, jus’ tha’ sometimes ya get the odd female who like the bad guy type ya know?” He winked and chuckled again, Melody had then picked up her stuff and gestured for him to follow her to the van which he had done.
Had it really been that long? Twelve years? Of course it had, Brendan was almost thirty-one. It was quite frightening to think it had been that long and yet a lot of the times he felt like it were yesterday. Then he only had to think of Libby and knew it was longer than just yesterday, she was ten years old, soon to be eleven, and that meant that it would indeed by almost twelve years since they had seen each other. “Damn Melody, ya don’ think it’s quite as long until ya think back. I reckon we migh’ jus’ have quite a bit to talk abou’ don’ ya think?” He chuckled, he couldn’t wait to just sit down with her and start a good conversation and catch up on each other’s lives.
Brendan had then suggested a place they could go to for their lunch date, knowing full well Melody would have no idea of the sort of place he was talking about, especially when he had spoken of it as a little place. Brendan liked to surprise people, and if they liked the surprise, then all the better. Melody then went on to say she thought she knew what place it was he was talking about as they had done a few reviews on the news. Brendan chuckled, “Maybe ya have heard of it, jus’ hafta wait an’ see.” He winked, he wasn’t about to give anything away, he wanted to wow her, even though they had only just met up again after all those years, but something deep inside was telling him to wow her, to impress her, she was the one. Then his head laughed, yeah right, that’s what you said about Megan and Stacey and Olivia, who are you trying to kid. Brendan’s heart was now thumping in his chest; he hated having personal arguments between his head and his heart. Not that they happened all that often, well, at least not recently, he thought he had got over all of that a few years ago.
Brendan grinned at her when she told him to lead the way. “I sure will madam.” He shook his head and chuckled, and then he felt Melody link her arm through his, now that sure felt good, but he had to stop himself from saying it out loud. Whatever would she think if he just blurted out that her linking his arm felt so good? For all he knew she still just looked at Brendan as a friend, and in many ways that’s what he saw in Melody, a friend, but now he wondered if there could be so much more. When they were in school, even though she was put ahead into his year, there was a clear age gap between them, but now, not so much. As they began to walk to the place he had in mind, Melody asked how he was and that he and his high school sweetheart must be married by now. Brendan tilted his head as he looked at her, “Ain’ married Melody, should’a been, an’ it wasn’ to ma high school sweetheart either, but no, I ain’ married, yet.” He then wondered if he should tell her about Libby, thinking that he would have to tell her about his daughter at some point anyway, even if they just remained good friends.
“Got maself a daughter though. Never knew she existed, an’ she only came inta ma life abou’ six months ago, but I wouldn’ be without her now to be honest. She’s a real sweetheart, call her ma little Kitten, she’s ten years old, soon eleven. A bit of a long story as to how she came inta ma life an’ I sure as hell don’ mind tellin’ ya, but I don’ wanna bore ya with the details, unless yer interested?” They weren’t too far away from the place where he wanted to take her, and by the time had had finished telling her about Libby, they were virtually outside the place. “Well, we’re here Melody.” Brendan said, as he held the door open for her, and made his way inside. The restaurant was massive, it had a huge ceiling, which was decorated with chandelier lighting which was dimmed, every table had a fresh single red rose in a vase and two candles lit, the seats were huge red plush velvet, the whole look of the inside of the restaurant looked expensive and it was expensive, but then money wasn’t an option to Brendan, it never had been and never would be either. Brendan went there often, but usually either treating his parents or his sister, and more recently Grayson and Libby.
He walked up to the welcoming table, “Table fer two please Ricardo.” He smiled at Brendan warmly, “Good afternoon Brendan.” He then looked toward Melody, “I see you have brought special lady I not seen before. I know she be special, because you have only ever brought your family here if I remember correctly? So special table for the special couple?” Ricardo said in his faint Italian accent. Brendan couldn’t help but shake his head, as he side glanced to Melody to see what her reaction was going to be like to that little outburst from Ricardo. He then began to lead them toward the back of the huge restaurant, where there were tables in closed off booths. “Yeah, that’ll do jus’ fine thanks Ricardo.” Ricardo then bowed and handed them both a menu and left them to it.
Brendan immediately went and pulled the chair out for Melody to sit down. Once she had, he took his own seat and then looked at her, “So wha’ d’ya think? Is this a place ya’ve reviewed or wha’?” He was interested to know, because he wasn’t sure this was a restaurant which would have made the local news or not, but he certainly hadn’t ever seen a report on it, but then Brendan wasn’t always at home to watch the news on television.

Melody shook her head, smirking. "Now why would I mind you complimenting me? It might make up for all the times that I haven't heard a guy utter them to me. It's kinda been a while, you could say." Well it had been a while, unless you count the time when her and new weather man got a bit friendly after having too many shots at the bar. He had been saying some nice things to her, but maybe in her head that sounded nice. "And I can go for any kind of guy, but you are probably a mix of the good and bad, depending on the situation." Mel smiled at him, bursting out laughing.
"Unfortunately yes, it has been that long. And yes again, we do have a lot to talk about." She gave him the brightest smile, thinking about what he had been up to since they parted ways. The reporter in her wanted to find out as much as she could. But the friend in her wanted to know what she could, without prying. After Brendan commented more about the place, it made her wonder if they did indeed review this restaurant that he was talking about. It seemed like it might be a place hidden away from their cameras. "Well it seems that this place might just be a surprise to me, so yes, I will have to wait and see." Mel smirked, and shook her head. It seemed that Mr. Brendan Harris hadn't changed that much at all.
Once they were off, with Brendan leading the way, Mel had linked her arm through his. It just felt like old times, walking arm in arn around the town. They had been the best of friends, but friends tend to just lose contact, like they did, when they parted ways. Mel then wrapped her other arm around his same arm, and looked up at him. "This feels nice. Just like old times. But the only difference is that we are older, and a tad more mature." Mel let out a small laugh, then rested her head on his arm for a split second, before straightening up, allowing only one arm interlocked with his own.
Once Mel had asked Brendan how he was, he tilted his head to look at her, and she listened attentively to what his response was. Her eyebrows raised a little, when he said he wasn't married, but should have been. Mel wondered what he meant by that, but decided to not persue it right there and then. "Wow. I thought you would have been snatched up by now. You have to know that you are a perfect catch to be had by a female." That was so true. Just looking at him at a glance, Mel could tell that he would definately the perfect to have on your arm. Wait, thought Mel, he is on my arm. Then she thought about how she was single, and he was single. Could anything happen? She looked at him and smiled. Only time would tell.
Brendan then said that he has a daughter, and told Mel a brief piece of information about her, and when she had come into his life. Mel gently squeezed her arm on his. "Well, you know me. Love long stories, especially when it comes from my best friend." She gave him a warm smile. "But in your own time, okay? Don't want you running off when I am trying to get the story out of ya. I don't want to lose you, as I only just got you back in my life." Mel knew that he wouldn't just run off, but he might just tell her off, in his own way.
Soon after they reached the outside of the restaurant. Nope, she thought, don't know this place. "Why thank you, Mr. Harris," Mel said, when he held the door open. She then stepped inside, almost gasping from what she was seeing in the restaurant. Mel stood on the spot, just turning around slightly, taking in all that she was seeing. She turned to look at Brendn then. "Wow is all I have to say. Never been in a restaurant this fancy, since I interviewed the president of one of the casino's here in Las Vegas. But he was paying, not me." Mel felt like she was definately being pampered in this place, and she didn't mind one bit.
Once Mel heard Brendan say the name of the person behind the table, she tilted her head to the side, and kind of glared at Brendan playfully. "You come here often, then?" She then giggled, and then listened to what the man, Ricardo, said. Mel didn't know where to look, feeling a slight blush, but then decided to play along, after seeing Brendan side glance in her direction. She wrapped her arms around Brendan's body. "Yes. Special lady for our Brendan." She reached up, and pinched Brendan's cheek, then burst out laughing. Mel then let go, and gave Brendan a smirk. She followed Ricardo with Brendan beside her, in the direction of a table. It was right in the back, which Mel didn't mind. More private to catch up with Brendan.
Mel went to grab her chair, but Brendan was already pulling it out for her. She gave him a warm smile, "Thanks Brendan." Once she was seated, Brendan sat, then asked her if this was a place that had been reviewed. "I don't think so, as I think I would have remembered this place. It is amazing. And it seemed quite expensive." Mel eyed off the menu, looking to see what she might want to eat. The she spotted it. "I so know what I want. I want the cheese bread for starters, and then alfrado cabornara, with lots of parmasen cheese. Oh and to drink a beer." Mel then looked up at Brendan, feeling like she had kind of butted in on ordering. "Sorry. But when I see things with cheese, I can't help myself."

{ooc - wasn't sure you wanted to go over the Libby thing again cuz we did in the other thread with April, meant to put that in my previous post but anyway... lol}
When Melody asked him why would she mind him complimenting her he wasn’t sure what to say, as he didn’t want to bad mouth any previous relationship he had been in, but he had been with one or two females in the past through the years that seemed to find it difficult to take compliments for some reason or another. “Ain’ sure why I thought ya’d mind, but glad ya don’, cause ya migh’ very well got a lot of them from me if we happen to spend more time together.” He hoped he wasn’t pushing anything by saying that, he just meant that if they were going to see each more as friends, then there was a chance the odd compliment might slip, because it was just a part of who Brendan was. When Melody spoke next Brendan laughed out loud and then looked at her with a raised eyebrow, “Wha’ever d’ya mean by tha’ Melody Webb? Am always a good guy, migh’ be a bit devilish at times, but most women I’ve found like tha’ abou’ me.” He was so tempted to playfully slap her backside then, but thought better of it, she might not like it, and they had only just got re-acquainted.
When Melody agreed it had indeed been that long and they did have a lot to talk about Brendan gave her a warm smile, he couldn’t wait to sit down and catch up with her and for him to get her up to speed on what had been going on in his life as well. It was only natural that they would both want to find out as much about each other as possible, it was the reporter in them, but Brendan would never push Melody because she was a friend, and he knew she would feel the same way. When Brendan said maybe she had heard of the place he chuckled at her response. “Well ya don’ hafta wait long to find out, it ain’ too far from here, an’ I always was one fer givin’ surprises.” Even in school Brendan was always springing surprises on his friends, some good and some devilish because he was in a teasing mood. His mind went back to the one major surprise he had sprung for Stacey, the flight to Paris, and how she had taken sick on the plane, and immediately put it down to a fear of flying. That hadn’t been as good a surprise as it could have been sadly.
As they walked to the place he wanted to take Melody, he soon felt her other arm linking through his same one, almost like she was cuddling into him, and he was near tempted to just wrap his free arm around her waist, and yet holding back again, just in case. He was scared to push anything too soon, because of how everything had turned out with his previous recent relationships. When Melody spoke about old times, only now they were older and more mature, Brendan chuckled, “Yeah, more mature, an’ yet probably don’ even act our ages, ‘cause I sure as hell don’ think I do.” He laughed out loud and then he felt Melody lean her head on his arm, he immediately moved his head to look and a smile spread across his face. He then bent his own head down and kissed the top of Melody’s head just before she straightened up. “An’ yeah, yer righ’, it does feel nice.” It felt more than nice, it felt damn fantastic.
After Brendan told Melody that he wasn’t married yet, even though he should have been she didn’t question it, and at that moment he was glad, because he wasn’t sure he wanted to go into it all right then. He had just got his friend back in his life, the last thing he wanted to do was scare her away talking about previous women especially when one of them was an ex fiancée. He would of course tell her about it at some point, when he felt it was the right time. Her words did melt his heart slightly though, it would seem quite a few thought he would be a good catch for a woman, he just hadn’t been lucky enough to get one who really mattered to him yet, other than Stacey and he had thrown that one away. Even though he was trying to keep these underlying feelings from growing, he couldn’t stop himself from saying the next few words, “So, ya think I’d make a good catch, is tha’ a hint by any chance Melody? Cause I sure as hell don’ remember us makin’ some sort of pact tha’ if I weren’ married by the time I was thirty we’d marry each other, not tha’ I’d be against the idea or nothin’.” Okay, did he really just say all of that out loud? He could have sworn he was thinking those words, but no, he had definitely said them, damn, damn, damn he thought. Now he was waiting for the slap across the face reaction.
Brendan really wouldn’t mind if something were to happen between himself and Melody, but because of the three past relationships and how they had gone he knew a small part of him wouldn’t want to rush into anything, but it really was only a small part of him, it would seem his head and heart hadn’t stopped arguing yet and it was driving him insane.
He had then mentioned Libby in a slightly abbreviated version, because he hadn’t wanted to bore her with the details unless she was interested to hear them. Of course Melody said she loved long stories especially when they came from her best friend. He knew he was definitely her best friend, but was that all he would ever be? Just a friend? He hoped he might be able to come much more than that to her, maybe Melody should have been his school sweetheart? He was about to answer, when she then added he could tell her in his own time, as she didn’t want him running off on her, when she had only just got him back in her life. “I only jus’ got ya back in ma life an’ all, I ain’ goin’ nowhere sweetheart.” Brendan stopped for a breath and then continued, “Libby’s mom Faith, well we kinda took things too far the nigh’ of the graduation prom, she never told me she was pregnant, so I couldn’a done anythin’ fer her, but I would’a if I’d known. Anyway, Faith was killed, an’ poor Libby found her, she also thought she had no other family as Faith never told her abou’ me, an’ course, I didn’ know abou’ her. Social services found me an’ next thing I know I got this beautiful little girl to take care of, an’ ain’ looked back since.”
Once they had reached the restaurant, and he had held the door open, she thanked him, which he acknowledged with a nod of his head and a smile, her reaction once inside made him chuckle slightly. “Well I ain’ no president of a casino, but I am Assistant Editor of The Chronicle, an’ I’ll be payin’ fer this an’ all, ain’ no objections from yerself either.” He chuckled, and winked at her, before making his way over to the welcome desk. Naturally Ricardo had to point out the fact Melody must be special if he was bringing her to their restaurant. “I’ve been here a few times, with family tha’s all, I ain’ brought a woman here yet.” He might have brought Stacey once they had gotten married, but they hadn’t got that far. Maybe he and Melody weren’t even engaged, but they were friends from school, she was already special in that aspect alone. Maybe if both of them played their cards right, she would be family, eventually.
Melody then wrapped her arms around his body when Ricardo mentioned about her being a special lady, he wrapped his arm around her then without even thinking. “Tha’s righ’ Ricardo, she’s special alrigh’.” When she reached up and pinched his cheek, he shook his head and grinned, and then his hand did what he had stopped it doing earlier, and playfully slapped her ass. Well, if she was allowed to squeeze his cheek, then he was allowed to slap hers, what difference did it make if it was a completely different type of cheek?
Once they were both sitting down Brendan had then asked her if this was a place she had reviewed or not. He grinned at her response, because he didn’t think this place would have been reviewed, “So, it was a surprise fer ya then? An’ one I hope ya like.” Somehow he didn’t really need the answer to that, he had a feeling she liked it alright, she was soon looking at the menu and then she began telling him what she would have. “Alrigh’ tha’s noted, an’ wha’ abou’ a dessert fer after, anythin’ ya fancy?” He knew how that could be taken, but he didn’t care, he had to ask if she wanted a dessert or not, as they may as well place the order at the one time for everything. “An’ there ain’ no need fer apologies, ya don’ hafta apologise fer wha’ ya like to eat.” Brendan wasn’t even sure what he wanted himself yet as he continued to look at the menu. “Migh’ get maself the spaghetti bolognaise, yeah I like the sound of tha’, an’ I’ll get maself a beer an’ all.”

Melody just smiled brightly at Brendan when he commented on her not minding at all if he complimented her. "I'd like that, alot. It will always be something that I will look forward to when we meet up next." She then had to comment more on what he said. It would be great to get to have more time with him, that was sure. "I can't see why we wouldn't spend more time together. We have all that time to catch up on, that is for sure." Mel almost burst out laughing, trying so hard to keep it in, but then it just came out. She just couldn't stop, but then found the will to control herself. "Well I will have to go with what you said then. But a bad boy is always good. I am sure that you have been up to enough mischief since I last saw you." Mel looked up to the sky, with a cheeky grin on her face. "I don't think that the naughty side would go astray every now and then."
Melody's mouth and brain were running away with her so much now. But that is what Brendan was doing to her. They had only met now for what, like ten minutes or more, and already he was bringing out a side of her that no one normally saw during or after work. Maybe it was good that she ran into him, and found this new person inside her, that she was definately liking very much. When they were friends in high school, Brendan was always the one to make her laugh when she was a bit down, especially the first day they met, when the bullies were picking on her, only because she was like three years younger than the kids in the grade that she was in. Melody had felt like she was an outcast, but when Brendan came along, that soon melted away, and she felt like she wanted to go to school then. And it seemed that his presence was still the same.
Mel had to grin a bit, when Brendan said that she didn't have to wait too long to get to the restaurant, as it wasn't that far away, and that he was always one for giving surprises. "You did always like to do that. But sadly I never got them. I wonder why that was?" Mel put on a bit of a sad face, pouting her bottom lip, and looked at Brendan through puppy dog eyes. After a few moments, Mel then giggled, and then shook her head.
It had felt so comfortable, just having her arms hugging his arm. And it just felt right somehow. She had to smile up at him, when he said that yes, more mature, but probably they didn't act their ages, as he sure didn't think he did. All Mel could do was roll her eyes, and then giggle. "Well. I have to admit, I have done some immature things in my time. Even a couple of years ago actually." Enough said about that one, thought Mel. But she might have to speak about that, when it came up. After Mel had leaned her head against Brendan's arm for a split second, she felt Brendan kiss the top of her head. Once she had straightened up, she looked at him, giving him a grin. "What was that for? You never did that before. But really, I was like, what, fifteen at the time. So maybe I might not have been ready for that kind of relationship then." What was she saying, or thinking, for that matter. They were good friends, best friends. Mel probably got to know a lot about Brendan back then, but really, what did she know about him now. She had to slow down a bit with what she was saying or doing.
Mel had to smirk at Brendan's reply, about her saying that he was a good catch. She had to stop then, and turn to face him fully. "Well, Mr. Harris. I do infact think that you would be a good catch. You say the right things, you give surprises, and you are tall and handsome. What more could a girl want or need?" She knew she had to comment on the other thing that he mentioned. "And no, we didn't make a pact at all. But if you are suggesting that we do that, I wouldn't say no if you asked." So now the cat was out the bag. She was in fact single, and was not attached at all. But the thought of being in a relationship with Brendan wouldn't be all that bad. They were friends first, so that was a start.
Melody then listened about Libby, and how she had come about between Brendan and Faith. She had no idea, as she never went to the prom. Basically she had no one to go with, so there was no point in attending. Brendan had had Faith, so who did Mel have? Nobody. He finished what he said, and Melody just took his hand and squeezed. "I had no idea, after not attending the prom. I last saw you at the graduation ceremony, and that was it. I should have kept in touch, but it just never happened. Sorry about Faith not working out, and sorry to hear that she was killed. And I am glad that they found you. I am sure that you are a wonderful father to Libby. I can just tell."
Mel grinned at Brendan, after he commented on what she said about going to a fancy restaurant, but she didn't pay. "Well thank you Brendan. And no, won't say not to a free meal." Mel then giggled, thinking how bad that sounded. She had money, but probably not as much as what Brendan had from his job. Maybe she might be in the wrong part of the media. Brendan then mentioned that he had been at the restaurant with his family a few times, and hadn't brought a woman here yet. "Well I feel honoured," Mel said, as she put her hand to her chest, then giggled again. She just loved playing along.
Once she had wrapped her arms around Brendan, he put his arm around her. For a split second, Melody got a tingle. A nice tingly feeling from what Brendan just did. It felt wonderful in her mind, and again felt comfortable. Mel had no idea what he would say or do to what she did next, but she soon found out, when he playfully slapped her ass. She instantly gasped, then pursed her lips, glaring at Brendan. Melody then sneakily grabbed his ass, and gave it a bit of a sqeeze. Two can play at that game, thought Mel.
They were soon sitting at the table, and Brendan then asked her if it was a surprise for her then, and one he hoped she liked. "It was a nice surprise, that is sure." Mel then picked up the menu, and soon rattled off what she wanted. Brendan then asked her about dessert for after. Before Mel could answer that maturely, she had apologised for telling what she wanted straight away, mention about the whole cheese thing. She smiled, when Brendan said that she didn't need to apologise. Mel nodded slightly. "Okay, and not sure about dessert. Will definately have to think about what I really want." She gave him a smirk, then looked down at the menu at what she wanted. But what she wanted might not be on the menu.

Brendan gave Melody a warm smile when she said that she would like it very much if he were to throw more compliments her way if they happened to spend more time together. “Tha’s good to hear.” Strike one, he thought, someone who really doesn’t mind getting compliments, that was the one main thing a woman had to like if they were with Brendan, that and having money spent on them all the time, but the most important thing of all, they had to accept his daughter Libby, if they couldn’t do that, then there would be no point in pushing forward with anything. The next thing Melody said made Brendan smile all the more, what she said was true, there was no reason why they couldn’t spend more time together, and yes, they sure did have a lot to catch up on. “So true Melody, so true.” She then went into a fit of laughter, and Brendan just raised his eyebrow at her, but found himself chuckling along with her.
When Melody said a bad boy was always good and she was sure he had been up to enough mischief since she last saw him, when he looked in her direction she was facing the sky with a cheeky grin on her face. Brendan just shook his head, eyes sparkling and laughed out loud. “Guess I ain’ always the goody good boy righ’ enough, an’ yer righ’ a bit of bad ain’ gonna do any harm every now an’ then. Am pretty sure ma naughty side migh’ show itself, ya’ll jus’ hafta wait an’ see.” Now it was Brendan’s turn to laugh a lot. Brendan had slapped a few female asses in his time, which he deemed as being partly naughty, he might just be tempted to playfully slap Melody’s before their little date was over with.
Brendan felt really bad for a few seconds when Melody mentioned that she never got any of his surprises and wondered why that was. He saw that look on her face, even if she was playing around with him it still managed to get to him. “Well, ya see, the age thing ain’ much of a problem now, but back then, it was kinda quite somethin’ ya know? Maybe I jus’ thought the kinda surprises I quite liked to give at the time weren’ suitable fer ya, ya know?” He looked down at her and winked and then followed it with a chuckle. It was well known that Brendan Harris was a bit of a lad during his school years, but he had calmed down a lot after he graduated, realising women weren’t toys and they were there to be treasured and cared for and loved.
Brendan laughed out loud when Melody admitted she had done some immature things, even as recent as a couple of years ago. He looked down at her, with his eyes laughing, “An’ jus’ wha’ would those have been Melody Webb?” His immaturity went down to being addicted to game consoles and more recently desperately trying to beat Libby and Grayson at the most silliest of games. He usually always lost, but he just loved the thrill it gave and pretended to throw a strop when he lost. He began chuckling just thinking about it. It was always funny, especially when Libby would turn round and start chanting ‘loser’ at him.
As they continued walking and Melody had rested her head against his arm he had bent down and kissed the top of her head, thinking back to when she said he never gave her any surprises, he began to wonder what he could do to change that, when she asked him what the kiss was for. He grinned at her, showing off those dimples of his, “Count it as the start of yer surprises from me.” He then winked at her, hell yeah there would be plenty more of those kind of surprises if they continued to see each other, and to quote Melody earlier, why wouldn’t they? There were definitely some underlying feelings Brendan never thought existed for Melody, he was sure she was always just one of the boys, the friends, but no, looking at her now, there was far more than that to Melody Webb. He was just a tiny bit reluctant to pursue anything with her, because he was sure to have Gray on his back about jumping in too soon again. Brendan Harris had always worn his heart on his sleeve, and he figured he probably always would, and the way he saw it, was if you felt something for a woman, you didn’t hold back, and he never did, and he probably never would.
Melody then went on to say he hadn’t done any of that before, and mentioned the fact she had only been fifteen at the time and probably not ready for that sort of relationship. “Yeah, pretty much like I was sayin’ afore ya know, but I think we’ve both grown a lot since then, so maybe the time’s righ’ now, ya jus’ never know.” Between Melody saying she might not have been ready for that kind of relationship then, and Brendan saying maybe the time was right now, what were both of them actually saying? However, his head took over his heart at that moment telling him not to push things and to calm down and he knew his head was right, so he backed out of thinking about all of that at that moment. If it was meant to be, then it would happen gradually between them, now that he knew she lived in Las Vegas, he would make sure they saw each other as often as possible.
When Brendan had asked Melody if she reckoned he was a good catch she stopped walking and turned to him and said she did in fact think he would be a good catch and went on to say he said all the right things, gave surprises, he was tall and handsome and what more did a girl want or need. He was about to answer her, but she then went on to say that no, they hadn’t made a pact, but if he was suggesting they did that, she wouldn’t say no if he asked. His heart skipped a few beats then, which made him wonder once more if this was all about to lead up to something. “Well, am sure glad ya think tha’ way abou’ me Melody, jus’ a pity I ain’ been able to keep a hold of a woman long enough. An’ to be honest with ya, am pushin’ thirty-one now, so if we were to do tha’ pact, we’d hafta agree on it pretty soon ya know.” He grinned, and raised his eyebrows, and then chuckled, he sure as hell wouldn’t say no to making a pact with her, hell, he wouldn’t say no to proposing to her either, but no, no immediate proposals, not this time. Well, maybe, he would just have to see how things played out with them over the next week or so.
When the conversation went a little dark between them as he spoke about Faith, and how Libby had come into his life, he really appreciated Melody’s words, and when she had squeezed his hand, he felt his skin tingle all over. It sure had felt nice. “Thanks Melody, Libby an’ I sorta come in a package deal now so to speak, oh, tha’ an’ I have ma brother stayin’ with us an’ all, but he’s great.” Brendan had no idea why he had actually said that, no, of course he did, he was trying to get it over to Melody that if she was in anyway interested in him, she would have to understand, that he was no longer alone, he had his daughter and brother in his life, pretty much on a daily basis. Her reaction to that might be the only green light he would need to start pursuing things further with Melody. “I like to think am a good father to her, she certainly ain’ complained, so guess tha’s somethin’ huh?” He chuckled after saying that, he thought it was cute the way Libby called him daddy, he hadn’t expected a child of almost eleven still calling their father daddy, he thought he’d have gotten dad by now, then he thought it was her way of making up for all the years of never having a father to call daddy. That thought made him smile warmly.
When Melody said she wouldn’t say no to a free meal and followed it with a bit of a giggle, Brendan grinned, “Well tha’s good, ‘cause I wasn’ gonna take no fer an answer anyway.” In other words, it wouldn’t have mattered what Melody said, how much she might have objected, he was paying for their meal, so he was glad he didn’t have to argue the point with her. When Melody said she felt honoured over being the first woman he had brought to the restaurant who wasn’t family, Brendan winked at her, and leaned in, “Make tha’ surprise number two then.” After Melody had squeezed at his cheeks, Brendan hadn’t hesitated then in playfully slapping her ass, the look on her face just made him chuckle, but then she grabbed at his ass and squeezed. Brendan pretended to flinch, but then whispered into her ear, “Melody, I didn’ think ya cared.” He then chuckled. Yes, there was definitely underlying feelings for him, which were slowly raising their way to the surface, and he had a pretty good feeling they might be boiling over by the time they were finished their lunch date.
When Melody said the restaurant was a nice surprise Brendan grinned at her, he was glad she had liked the surprise of the restaurant, so that was two, he was going to have to think of some more surprises for her before she had to head back to work. After Melody had rambled what she would like and Brendan told her there was no need for apologies, he asked what she would like for dessert, of course he knew there could have been a sexual innuendo there, but he was desperately trying to behave himself, which for someone like Brendan wasn’t always that easy. Her response didn’t help the situation any and he ran a hand through his hair, “Alrigh’ then, we’ll order dessert after, unless...” He trailed off and leaned over the table to be closer to her, “...yer thinkin’ abou’ somethin’ which ain’ on the menu, ‘cause I ain’ gonna deny it, the same thought was goin’ through ma own head an’ all.” He raised his eyebrows a couple of times and then gave her a massive grin as he tilted his head to the side. As he looked at her this time, her eyes suddenly stood out to him, they were so bright, he was still trying to think of a nickname for her, and Bright Eyes stood out, but then he shook his head, she mightn’t like being given a nickname of a rabbit which was killed, he usually found nicknames so easy, but he was struggling with Melody, maybe it was because there wasn’t a need for one, she had a gorgeous name, why waste using it. He sighed, as it wasn’t him not to have a nickname, then he thought to the movie that Libby had watched the other night, Beauty and the Beast, and wondered if Belle would suit her, then he shook his head, no, he would have to think on some more.
Soon the waiter was there, and Brendan placed their orders, and told him they would get back to him for a dessert if they wished any, the waiter bowed and left them to it. “Am real glad I met ya today Melody.” For some reason, he just felt he needed to say that.

That was so an understatement from Brendan, when he said that he wasn't basically always the goody two shoes. When he said that his naughty side might show itself, and that she would have to wait and see, Melody pouted her lips, then grinned, giggling. "Well I am sure I can't wait for it to shows his face." She knew how he was in high school, even though he was relatively tame with her. So she had some idea of what he might be like in that department.
Mel nodded, understanding what he was getting at, in regard to him not giving her surprises. "I get it, I do. I just hope that maybe I might catch up a bit with them then." She hadn't had a lot of surprises with guys, but maybe Brendan might make up for his lack of them in school, and the lack of them from other males. Though only time would tell.
She knew she had definately put her foot in it, when she had hinted about doing some immature things, like a couple of years ago. Mel just knew that Brendan might ask her what she had been up to. She let out a breath, and rolled her eyes, smiling, trying so hard to not laugh, even thought it wasn't funny back then after it all. "Well, if you must know, then I must tell you." She leaned in a little, and looked him right in the eyes. "There was this one night when me and some others from the tv station went out for a drink. The new weather guy and I had a bit too much to drink, and I kind of got a tattoo." There it was out, Mel thought. She wondered if she should tell him where it was. Why not, she thought, he was only going to ask anyway. She looked around, to see if anyone was walking passed. "I apparently was so drunk, I had my eye on the very colourful butterflies, and the guy chose the place for them." She reached up to his ear, and whispered, "They go from my lower back, right down to my bum." Mel pulled away, and sighed, waiting for Brendan's response.
Mel gave Brendan a warm smile, when he said that the kiss on her head was the start of her surprises from him. "Thanks Brendan." That was all she could think to say to him, before giving his arm another gentle sqeeze. Melody was really liking the fact that she had run into Brendan. She didn't have that many friends, and hoped that this time their friendship would last a lot longer than it did in high school. Now that they were older, they could do a lot more, despite the three year difference. Mel couldn't really wait for any time that they might spend together. Then after she spoke about how she was only young back then, Brendan then added about how they have both grown a lot since then, and maybe the times right now. She didn't know what to say to that. All she could was nod slowly, in acknowledgement. You never did know. But maybe this chance meeting was the kickstart their old friendship needed.
Mel had started to smile, when he said he was glad that she thought of him that way. But then her face fell a little, when he said that it was a pity that he hasn't been able to keep hold of a woman long enough. Though that down moment soon left, and she had to giggle when he mention the whole 'supposed' pact again. "Well Mr. Harris. I am heading towards twenty-eight this year, and I had thought that I would be either married or at least with someone by not. But sadly no, so really, we are kind of in the same boat. So really, this little 'maybe' pact might be needed after all." It was too early to tell in her eyes if they would maybe tie the knot, not that she was ever object to the idea. She still loved Brendan as her dear best friend, but maybe she could definately love him more than that as well.
Melody listened to what more Brendan said about Libby, and she had to smile. "Sounds like you have got a pretty good life now Bren. I don't have any kids, but my older brother has some, a girl and a boy, and I love them to bits. I try and see them as much as my job allows. But mostly see them on the weekends. Selena is four, and Ryan is two. They are gorgeous, and just a bundle of fun. So I can't wait to meet Libby, even though I haven't really dealt with kids her age since I was her age. Or maybe I have, when my brother was eleven, since he is three years younger." Mel laughed a little then at that. "And I can imagine that you are a fantastic dad to Libby. Even when you were back in your teens, you always made sure that I was doing okay."
Melody could only smirk, when Brendan said that he wasn't going to take no for an answer anyway. She had kind of guessed that in the first place. Mel had felt happy that she was the first person, or woman, he had brought here, and had to smile widely at him, when Brendan said to make that surprise number two. Inside, she was clapping her hands in delight. Very good, she thought, can't wait for more of those. Melody didn't care about showing him a bit of her 'other' side, when she had grabbed a hold of his ass, and had to hold back a laugh when he flinched, or pretended to flinch, when she had done that move. Brendan then whispered in her ear, which made her look sideways, and bit her lip, grinning madly. When he had moved away, she gave him a sideways glance, rolling her eyes cheekily.
After Mel commented about the dessert situation, Brendan had then commented about maybe ordering dessert after, unless she was thinking about something that wasn't on the menu. She just wanted blurt out what she was thinking, but she felt that he knew exactly what she was thinking. She had seen that raise of eyebrows, and and the massive grin and head tilt. She had always seen him do that for other girls, but never her, making it feel special all of a sudden. Mel swallowed a little, then looked down at her hands on the table. Mmm, she thought, how to put it the way she wanted it to sound. She then decided to just let him have it, he was a big boy after all. Well on the outside anyway. So her eyes looked at him. "Well you may just know me more than I know. Maybe what I really want isn't on the menu. What I really want is something that is not even in the restaurant." Mel wondered if she should tell him a secret which she had never told anyone. She looked downcast then, wondering what she wanted to say was not something he might want to hear.

When Melody said she couldn’t wait for his naughty side to show its face Brendan just smirked slightly, well she might not have too long to wait. Back in school he would never have dreamed of showing off his naughty side much to her, the age gap was just too severe then when they were in their teens, but not now. Three years wasn’t a lot now that Melody was almost twenty eight and he was almost thirty one. He would still have to try and behave himself, and remember not to go too far, they had only just got reacquainted, and right now they were still only friends, right?
Brendan had then explained in great detail why she hadn’t got many of his surprises back in school, and he had to smile warmly at her when she said she understood. He had a feeling she would, just looking at her now, things were so different. Back then she was just little Melody Webb, like the younger sibling he was looking out for or something, but now, she was far from little, she was a blossoming beautiful woman. He couldn’t remember Melody ever making his heart flutter before, but boy was it doing it now, and so many times since they started talking, he had lost count.
Naturally Brendan had to ask her in a teasing way what she was talking about when she said she had done some immature things in her time, and as recently as just a couple of years ago. So, when Melody said if you must know then I must tell you, Brendan chuckled. “Go on then, am sure interested to hear wha’ it is ya know.” He was teasing her but soon, put on as straight a face as possible, and listened to what she was telling him. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Even Brendan didn’t have a tattoo. If he had taken a drink, he’d have choked on it at that point, “Ya got a wha’?!” He said in shock exclamation trying to keep his voice low, and then she continued, well the sound of the butterflies sounded rather nice, and then she went on to say the guy chose the place, and it sounded even better. Brendan didn’t just feel his heart fluttering this time, oh no, something was a stirring elsewhere at the prospect of those butterflies and the need to check them out. When she was finished talking, Brendan couldn’t help but have a massive grin on his face.
“Well, I migh’ jus’ hafta go checkin’ them out fer maself ya know.” He then tugged at her waistband and pretended to have a look, “Jus’ how far did ya say they go down?” He then let go and began to laugh out loud, it wasn’t exactly the right place or time to be doing something like that, but he was sure as hell not going to let the chance pass him by again if they were ever alone. Then he began to wonder if they ever would be alone properly, was this the start of something really special between them? It would have to be special if he wanted to get to see those butterflies and how far down they went.
After Brendan told Melody the kiss on the top of her head was the start of the surprises from him, she thanked him. He looked down at her and smiled warmly, he didn’t really know what else to do or say. Everything just seemed to be falling naturally into place with Melody, it wasn’t even as if either of them were trying to move things along, they just seemed to be happening. Maybe he had always felt that way for Melody and kept it hidden because she was so much younger than him, and a relationship would have been awkward, because even though he would have been old enough when he turned eighteen, she wouldn’t have been. Well, they were damn well both old enough now. When Brendan had commented about the time being right now, he saw Melody nod her head, but there were no spoken words, so he wasn’t sure how to take that sign from her, and decided not to push the issue, if there was one thing about Brendan, he rarely pushed issues, especially with females.
When Melody spoke more about the supposed pact they never made, he liked what she was saying. He began nodding his head as she spoke, and when she was finished, he decided to reply to her, “Well, I tell ya wha’ then , ya let me see them butterflies, an’ I migh’ just propose to ya a few weeks later, how does tha’ sound?” He then moved his hand which was on her back and began to trail his finger up and down the area, where he roughly thought the tattoo might be. He was sort of teasing her with the bribe, but not removing his finger, and keeping it trailing around that area he continued, “Actually, make this our first official date, an’ we’ll see how it ends, an’ ya migh’ jus’ get tha’ proposal sooner than ya think.” What the hell was he saying, hadn’t he proposed to Stacey within a few weeks and look how that turned out, it was a complete disaster, wasn’t it? Although they did have a happy few months together he couldn’t deny that, maybe Brendan was destined to forever wear his heart on his sleeve and jump in head first. He could say that his feelings were different this time, that he had never felt this way about a female before, but he’d be lying, because he thought the exact same thing when he’d met Megan, Stacey, Olivia, and now he was thinking the same thing all over again. Maybe he should wait a couple of weeks and see how he was feeling about things then?
Brendan smiled warmly at Melody when she said it sounded like he had a pretty good life now and then she went on to say she didn’t have any children, but she adored her brother’s kids. He had to chuckle when she spoke about not dealing with kids who were soon eleven, and then mentioned her younger brother, so maybe she had. “I do have a pretty good life now Melody, but it ain’ perfect, I don’ have a woman in ma life, Libby needs a mother figure, an’ I’ve sure tried to find her one, jus’ ain’ worked out so far, fer either of us. An’ I’d always make sure ya were doin’ alrigh’ now an’ all. An’ I reckon ya’d love Libby, she’s an angel, she don’ know how to speak ill of anyone, even ma ex Stacey, she still speaks fondly abou’ her, think she misses her actually.” Brendan’s face fell a little then, and he began to wonder if he actually missed Stacey himself. Sometimes he felt he did, and other times, when he thought to the baby and who the father was, it was enough to stop those thoughts, besides as he looked back at Melody, something told him, he didn’t need to miss Stacey, he could have the woman he wanted, she was standing right beside him.
He then grinned at her, “However, tha’ part of ma life is over, it’s time to move on, jus’ need that special someone to move on with, who knows, maybe I’ve found her, jus’ need to know if she migh’ feel the same way. An’ I’ll let ya in on a secret.” He then leaned in to her ear and whispered, “She’s got a butterfly tattoo I really wanna see.” He then kissed the edge of her ear, and then moved and kissed her neck gently, before stopping and standing, turning Melody to face him, his face was smiling, but he was serious with what he was about to say. “Ya can slap me, tell me to go to hell if ya wanna, but I think there migh’ be somethin’ happenin’ between us, an’ I like it. Maybe ya’ve always been the one, maybe the others never worked out ‘cause I was waitin’ fer ya all along?” He wondered what she would say to that. Some people would think it crazy that he could admit feelings like that after only speaking to her for a short time, but they wouldn’t know that they had been friends for years before now, what did it matter if it had been a few years since they had seen each other, it wasn’t as if they were strangers at all.
Once they were inside the restaurant and the conversation got to ordering dessert, Brendan had asked Melody if what she was wanting wasn’t on the menu, he was basically teasing her wondering if he might have been the dessert she had planned, sometimes he just couldn’t help that rude mind of his, but he assumed that Melody knew him well enough by now, to know the way his mind ticked, and something told him she had been thinking the same thing herself. So when Melody replied, Brendan was a little stumped for words. Saying what she wanted wasn’t on the menu and leaving it at that would have made him think she was talking about himself, but for her to then add that what wanted wasn’t even in the restaurant, got him frowning slightly, because, well he was damn well in the restaurant, so it couldn’t be him.
He was about to answer her, but then he saw she began to look a little down, and Brendan immediately wondered what could be wrong with his Little Butterfly, and that was it. The nickname, it just rolled off his tongue, it was going back to when she spoke about the tattoo she had got. He leaned over the table again, even though they were in a private booth anyway, “Now if ya’d stopped at wha’ ya wanted ain’ bein’ on the menu, I’d have felt quite happy an’ probably agreed with ya, but when ya said it ain’ even in the restaurant an’ I see tha’ face of yers lookin’ so sad, it makes me wonder wha’ the hell’s wrong. Wha’s wrong with ma Little Butterfly?” He sure as hell hoped she would tell him what was wrong before the waiter came back with their food, because he didn’t want to eat when he was worried, he never enjoyed his food the same when that happened.

Melody didn't know what Brendan would say, let alone how he would have reacted to her having a tattoo, but she never would have guessed what he actually said. She saw that look of shock on his face, like it was the worst thing she could have done. Mel had then rolled her eyes, and continued on to say what they were, and where they were situated. She saw that massive grin on his face, and wondered what he was going to say would be good or bad.
Mel could only half laugh, and gasp a little, when Brendan went and tugged on the waistband of her long pants. "Hey," Mel said, looking around at Brendan, and where his hands were, when he then spoke. She went to swipe his hand away, when he moved it, and began to laugh loudly. Mel could feel her face getting redder and redder by the minute. She had never shown anyone her tattoo, and wondered if anyone would ever see it, besides herself. "I told you how far they went Brendan. You mustn't have been listening." She playfully pouted, then smiled, rolling her eyes.
Melody listened to what Brendan said about if she let him see the butterflies, he might just propose to her in a few weeks time. She had been looking at Brendan as he spoke, but then she felt his hand move from her back, and soon felt his finger moving along near where her tattoo was on her skin. That single touch of his finger made her tingle a little inside, making her close her eyes for a few seconds. Mel swallowed then, and finally got the courage to open her eyes. What was Brendan doing to her? That single touch was making her feel things, deep things, for him now, and it felt so good.
Brendan continued to speak, allowing that finger to linger, which was driving Mel insane inside. She wanted to scream at him to stop, but deep down, she wanted to tell him to keep going, and even insist for his hand to actually go passed the waistband, and cop a feel. That was how turned on that touch was making her. Mel willed herself to calm down, which she thankfully did do. She attempted to concentrate on what Brendan said next, saying to make this their official date, and then see how it ends, and she might just get that proposal sooner then she thought. Mel didn't know what to say. "Um, okay then." She cleared her throat a little, trying to compose herself a bit more. "And can't wait." Mel finally got herself together, and gave him a warm smile.
Mel listened more to Brendan, after she said that it sounded like he had a pretty good life. She nodded a couple of times, understanding where he was coming from in regards to having a mother figure for Libby. When Brendan mentioned Stacey, his ex, Mel saw his face fall slightly. It sounded and looked to her that he might have loved this woman, but it looked like he might have moved on, as he spoke about his daughter, Libby before all that. "Well Libby sounds like the perfect daughter that you now have. I can't wait to meet her, whenever you are up for a visitor."
Melody nodded more, as Brendan spoke of moving on, and just needing that special someone to move forward with. She smiled, when he said that he may have found her, and just needed to know if she might feel the same way. Mel had a feeling that she knew who he was talking about, and the next thing he did was whisper in her ear, confirming what she had been thinking. She went to smile, then answer, when she felt Brendan kiss the edge of her ear, then her neck gently. Without thinking, Mel moaned lowly at that touch of his lips, and put her hand on his back slightly. Brendan was definately making her feel like no other had made her feel. The secret she was keeping to herself might just have to come out later, if anything was going to happen physically between them.
Then Brendan pulled away, turning her to face him. She just looked at him, with no expession at all, as he spoke. Mel could never slap him, tell him to go to hell, though depending on the situation, but this situation did not call for any of that in the slightest. She slowly nodded, when he said that there might be something happening between them, and he liked it. Melody was not liking it, she was kind of loving it. Her heart began to beat faster, when Brendan mentioned about her maybe always being the one, and that the others never worked out, because he was waiting for her all along. Mel bit on her bottom lip, and looked down slightly. She had no words, only emotions right then, and felt that every single thing that he said was true. So true. Melody slowly looked up at Brendan, and nodded. "You might be right Bren. Maybe today's chance meeting was written in the stars, so to speak. Who knows." Again without thinking, Mel wrapped her arms around his body, and just hugged into him for a few seconds.
Melody hadn't meant to bring the mood down to the colour of dark right then. But just thinking of possibly having sex with Brendan soon as today, was making her little secret become rather real in her head. Mel noticed Brendan lean over the table, which led her to look at him, not knowing what to say. In a way she was kind of scared to tell him, but she knew she shouldn't. He had been her best friends for three years before they parted ways. So really they were just picking up where they left of, even if the gap was twelve years. When she heard him call her 'Little Butterfly', it kind of made her a little happier. He had never, ever given her a nickname, but now it was to do with the tattoos. Though she shouldn't complain, it was a nickname, and it sounded like it really suited her.
She let out a sigh, and decided to tell him, leaning in, clasping her hands together in front of herself on the table. "I got the whole sex thing with the banter, but there is something that you should know if and when that does happen between us." How was she going to word this. Mel just knew that it would sound silly, and probably kind of shocking coming from her, but he had a right to know. "I, um... I ... actually have never... um... had sex before. I am still a... um virgin." There it was out now, and she waited for the laughter to begin.

Brendan hadn’t meant to act so shocked when Melody told him about getting a tattoo, but he just hadn’t ever thought of Melody with one of those, and when he had began to laugh after tugging at her waistband pretending to look at them, he had asked her how far down they went, knowing full well what she had said, he was teasing the life out of her. Her face was bright red, so red, you could have cooked an egg on it, he was pretty sure. “Yer face is lookin’ pretty flushed there sweetheart, ya could cook an egg on tha’ face of yers.” When Melody then answered him saying she had told him how far they went and he couldn’t have been listening, pouting, Brendan stopped laughing, “Oh I was listenin’ alrigh’, I jus’ wanted to see them fer maself, tha’s all. Am the one whose gonna get the privilege to see them righ’?” He was still teasing her, but in a way he was half serious also, because there were definitely hidden feelings for Melody which were surfacing.
They had then began teasing each other about supposed pacts and marrying each other, Brendan then got serious after pretending to bribe her over her butterflies, and told her if they made this an official date, they would see how it went and she might get the proposal sooner than she thinks. Melody then said okay and she couldn’t wait. When he saw that warm smile of hers, it made him smile warmly back. He couldn’t wait either, he needed to know if what he was feeling was real or not, because he’d had those feelings so often in the past, except there was just something telling Brendan this time he might just have got it right. That sounded like it might fit into a song he thought to himself, taking a mental note of it, it would be another surprise for her; he would write a song just for Melody. “Me neither.” He eventually whispered into her ear.
When Melody said Libby sounded like the perfect daughter and she couldn’t wait to meet her whenever he was up for a visitor, Brendan grinned, “Hell we’re always up fer visitors, an’ ya migh’ jus’ get to meet ma brother Gray an’ all.” He said might, because sometimes Gray shut himself away in his bedroom which was like a bungalow apartment in itself, or sometimes he went out to the clubs, but he was always on hand to take of Libby when Brendan couldn’t himself. To be honest he couldn’t wait to introduce Melody to Gray, for some reason he had never really taken to Stacey and Brendan never did figure it out why, but he would never have given up his brother for a woman because Grayson had only just came into his life at that point. However, Melody was a whole different person, there wasn’t anything you couldn’t love about her, she was gorgeous, cheery, and didn’t appear to mind compliments being given, or having money spent on her, in fact she had the perfect personality for Brendan, because she had the cheekiness to go with it.
Brendan had then went all out with Melody telling her he felt there was something happening between them and he liked it, he then hoped that he wouldn’t get a slap for his efforts or told to go to hell, he was glad when neither happened. He watched as she bit her lip and then looked down; Brendan took that as a bad sign and immediately began to think he’d said the wrong thing after all. Then she slowly began to look up at him, and Brendan’s eyes were darting from left to right taking in her features as he waited for her to say something. When she did finally speak, he had to hold back a massive loud sigh of relief. She was saying he might be right, and their little chance meeting might have been written in the stars so to speak. “Tha’s exactly wha’s been goin’ through ma mind Melody.” He then felt her arms wrap around his body, and she hugged into him, so Brendan wrapped his arms around her waist and leaned his head gently on top of her own, it just felt so nice. When he felt Melody pull away from the hug, his hand went to her chin and he tilted her face up slightly and he couldn’t help himself but lean down and kiss her. It wasn’t a passionate, lust filled kiss or anything, just a sweet tender soft kiss on the lips as if he was wishing her a happy birthday but there was definitely love behind it.
He had then pulled away, and made their way to the restaurant, which they were now inside, and the mood had been brought down slightly. Brendan knew it wasn’t done on purpose, but he was worried about what it was that was on her mind, especially when it all stemmed from the joke about dessert. Melody then began to tell him what was on her mind in a quiet voice, saying she had got the sex thing with the banter over the dessert and there was something he should know if and when sex was going to happen between them. Brendan raised his eyebrow, but kept a soft smile on his face, as he kept looking at her with a slight tilt to the head. He then reached a hand over and placed it on top of her own clenched ones together and used a thumb to caress the back of one of her hands. “Go on then.” He gave her another smile, one which he hoped was encouraging, as he listened to her tell him the rest of what was on her mind. She seemed to be finding the words a struggle, and Brendan gave her hands a gentle squeeze. “Wha’ever it is Melody it ain’ gonna be as bad as some of the things I’ve heard.” He was trying to give her reassurance that whatever she was going to tell him, he would be fine with.
When she finally got the words out, Brendan didn’t remove his hand, nor did he look shocked or burst out into laughter, in fact in a lot of ways Brendan thought it was very sweet. There weren’t many females these days at Melody’s age that would have been a virgin still, and at least he would know if she found out she was pregnant, there was no chance of it being another man’s baby if there was a chance he might be her first. It was actually making Brendan feel sort of special as well to think that he might be the one she would lose her virginity to. Brendan then let go of her hands and got up and went round to her side and bent down, he then took one of her hands and unclenched it, so that he was holding one of her hands in his own.
“Melody, fer a start, it ain’ nothin’ to be ashamed abou’, in fact, ya should be proud yer still a virgin, ain’ many women yer age who can say tha’ now. An’ not tha’ I wanna blow ma own trumpet so to speak, but if am the one ya decide to lose it to, well tha’s jus’ gonna make it all the more special. I migh’ joke abou’ it a lot, but I’ve grown up a lot since ma school days, I don’ go around usin’ women the same anymore. They should be treated with respect. I don’ sleep with a woman on the first date, hell, I seldom sleep with them within the first week now, I always make sure it’s exactly wha’ we both wanna do, an’ I always make sure it’s with someone I love.” He then lifted up her hand and pressed his lips against it and kissed it, “We’ll take things as slow as ya wanna, an’ when ya feel the time’s righ’, and I promise ya I’d be gentle. I ain’ gonna go anywhere, ya’ve always been special to me, jus’ sorry it took me so long to realise tha’ ma Little Butterfly was always meant to be the one.”
With that Brendan reached his arms out to wrap around her neck and hugged her to him. He kissed her forehead, and then her nose, and then her cheek, and then her lips softly, before breaking away from her, “Besides, it’s all the little things tha’ really count ya ask me.” Just then the waiter appeared, and Brendan stood up, gave her one more quick kiss and went back to his side of the table taking in the aroma of the meals, they smelled delicious and he was glad that Melody felt he could tell him what was on her mind, he looked over at her and gave her the brightest smile, dimples in full flow, and eyes sparkling. Yeah it was true, Brendan was in love with Melody Webb, maybe he always had been and he never knew it, as he looked at her, he knew there was something else there that wasn’t there with the others, despite how often he had thought that with Stacey about Megan, with Olivia about Stacey, this time there was something there that he hadn’t had with the others, an unbreakable bond.

With that comment about her face being so red, Melody put her hands up to her cheeks. "Oh dear. They're that red? I seriously have never blushed that hard I don't think." She giggled slightly then, and Brendan then replied to her little sad moment when she said that he mustn't have been listening to how far the tattoo went. Mel looked sideways, cheekily, and then looked at Brendan with her eyes smiling. "Maybe you will, maybe not. Not sure yet." She then couldn't take it anymore, and burst out laughing, covering her mouth with one hand.
She snickered then, when Brendan said that they were always up for visitors. So it seemed she might just have to make an appearance at his place soon then, unexpected. A surprise on her part this time. "Sounds good. And can't wait to meet your brother. I hope he likes me." She giggled slightly, like she hoped he approved of her or something. Not all of her boyfriends her brothers or parents met, so she wondered how she would measure up to another person's siblings? Melody hadn't really had a significant other for some time, and she hoped that she wasn't too much out of the routine at all, with having a partner.
After Melody spoke, after a long moment, about their chance meeting being written in the stars, Brendan commented. She looked from one eye to the next, smiling warmly at him, just loving what he said. Mel then wrapped her arms around his body, then felt him do the same around her waist. She felt her heart beating so fast, feeling that everything was finally falling into place for her somehow. Her life had never been that exciting, never that important, unless you counted her job. But now, meeting Brendan like this, just by chance, it was wonderful in her eyes. Melody felt Brendan lean his chin on her head, and she closed her eyes, just enjoying the moment that they were now sharing. They soon pulled apart, and she looked up at him. Brendan's hand was soon felt under her chin, and her heart started to race. Then he lent in and kissed her. Melody kissed him back, ever so softly, to match his own.
When it came time for ordering the dessert, and that friendly banter came between them about it, Mel had one thing on her mind, and one thing only. But she had to find a way to tell Brendan her little secret. One that no one, but her parents obviously, knew about. There really hadn't been anyone that she wanted to share it with, and now as she was getting onto twenty-eight Melody knew that she would have to lose her virginity. It would seem silly for her to be forty and still not had sex yet. That movie soon played in her mind, and she shook her head. No, that will not happen, she said.
Melody saw that small smile on Brendan's face, and wondered what he was thinking. Did he have an idea of what she was going to say? Probably not, thought Melody, as I am going around in riddles as always. Brendan though, soon put his hand over her own hands, and spoke. That touch was quite reassuring for Mel, who was trying to find the words to say to him. The words just weren't coming out, and Mel again heard Brendan reassure her with his words. She nodded, and continued. Well that was for sure. But really this seemed a lot worse then the tattoo situation.
Mel finally got out what she wanted to say. Now it was out in the open, and she waited for Brendan to say or do something. Though she did notice that he didn't move his hand from her own, and all she could do was look down at that gesture. Melody glanced up at Brendan, and soon realised that he wasn't laughing, or making a crack at her being a virgin. In her eyes, she always thought that she might have lost it a long time ago. But really, the guys she dated were only after one thing, even on the first night, and she never gave it over. That might be the reason she never got very far with guys. And once again her heart might get broken because of this little thing about her.
Here we go, thought Melody, when Brendan let go of her hands. She swallowed, and looked down at the table. "I understand if you want to go..." Melody then began to feel a bit sad, thinking that Brendan might have been different about it, but apparently not. Though this thought soon left her head, when she felt a hand undo her hands that were together, and held her now open hand. Melody's gaze slowly met Brendan's, with some tears brewing, though hadn't fallen yet. As Brendan spoke, Mel bit on her bottom lip, listening to every word, slightly nodding in certain places. Just hearing everything that Brendan was saying, was just bringing her emotions to the surface, and a stray tear fell from her eye.
Then Brendan brought her hand up to his lips, and he kissed it. He then continued to talk, and Mel brought her other hand up to her chest, just loving what he was saying. She had never been an emotional wreck at all. The only time she might have gotten upset was when the bullies had picked on her, and since then she thought she had been pretty tough. But now, again, Brendan was saying all the right things, and just hearing about her maybe being the one all along, was just fueling the fire of emotion that was sitting inside her. Melody tried to laugh off the tears, but they just began to fall. But then Brendan reached over and hugged her. She knew she had to talk to him, let him know how she was feeling, but she just couldn't through the tears. After that hug, Brendan trailed kisses from her forehead right down to her lips. Melody kissed him back. When he spoke again, she gave him a smile, wiping the tears away.
Once Brendan was seated back in his chair, and the food was given to them, Mel grabbed a tissue from her bag, and wiped at her eyes. She hadn't missed seeing that smile of Brendan's, and those gorgeous dimples of his. "I am glad I told you. But I just wasn't sure how you would react. I know that you are different to the others that I have dated, but I just didn't know." She took a sip of the water that was on the table, and decided to reply to everything that he had said.
"I'm glad that you won't rush me. Maybe we can start off slow, just so that I feel more comfortable in that department. I know I shouldn't be scared, what with you being the more experienced adult here, but I..." Mel just shrugged, and took another sip of her water. "I don't know. I am just glad that you are so understanding, as always. I am sure that there are things we can do to pass the time, or even do things that might make me feel more relaxed, what with all the sexual tension that might happen. I am sure that you might have a few tricks up your sleeves." Mel giggled, feeling a lot better now that she had told him. She then twisted the fork in the spaghetti, and put a forkful in her mouth, beginning to chew on it. Once it was gone, Melody waved to the waiter. When they came over, she smiled, "Hi. Could I get more parmasen cheese please? Thanks." Once the waiter was gone, she turned and smiled at Brendan. "So needs more cheese."

Brendan had to chuckle when Melody put her hands up to her face and asked if they were that red, when he’d commented about cooking an egg on her face. She then said she had never blushed that hard before, “First time fer everythin’ sweetheart.” Brendan liked the fact she’d blushed so much though, it was cute. It did make him wonder if she would blush like that a lot in his company, as much as it was cute, he would hate to think he was going to embarrass her that much all the time, as he would never do it on purpose, however the butterfly tattoo was just too good to pass up on the cheeky side of his coming out. Brendan had then teased her about being the one to see her butterfly tattoo and when she said maybe he will, maybe not and maybe not, she wasn’t sure yet, Brendan pretended to put on a sad face, then Melody laughed and Brendan shook his head and laughed along with her. “Well, how abou’ I lay claim to the tattoo then? Tha’s gotta mean am the only one who can see it righ’?” He chuckled, but the thought of another guy getting to see that tattoo given where it was situated didn’t sit well with Brendan, and that just confirmed the hidden feelings he had for Melody.
Brendan grinned when Melody said she couldn’t wait to visit him, and then added that she hoped his brother would like her. Well he knew that Grayson had taken an instant dislike to Stacey, one which had flummoxed Brendan at the time, but he couldn’t see how Grayson couldn’t like Melody, she was fun to be around, she always had been, and by the looks of it, now that she was back in his life, even from this short time together, Brendan could see nothing had changed and she probably always would be fun to be around. “There ain’ a reason why he wouldn’ like ya Melody, an’ well, I know blood’s thicker than water an’ all tha’, but there ain’ nothin’ could come between me an’ ma best friend.” Brendan used the term best friend for now, because he had no idea how Melody would have taken it if he’d said between him and his soul mate or girlfriend, so for now, he was playing it by ear.
The next thing to happen probably took both of them by surprise as they admitted they both had hidden feelings for each other, which had led them to wrap their arms around each other in a hug, and after Melody had pulled away, Brendan put his hand under Melody’s chin to tilt her head up and he kissed her. He hadn’t put a lot of passion behind it, it was just a soft kiss filled with love, but he was glad Melody kissed him back and he didn’t get a slap for his troubles. That kiss basically sealed the deal for Brendan, why he hadn’t seen his true feelings, or felt his true feelings back in school was a mystery other than what he had already mentioned and it was an age thing. Now however, he could see it as clear as anything, Melody was the special one he had been waiting on, and as much as he loved Libby, he was a little sad to think that Libby wasn’t Melody’s child. In fact thoughts suddenly began to race through his head about the child he had thought was his which wasn’t and resulted in him breaking up with Stacey, only fuelled the thoughts about how much he wanted a baby, a child he could see growing up in front of his eyes, not just to turn up on his door step at the age of ten when. Libby still had a lot of growing up to do sure, but he missed all the baby things, the first step, first word, first tooth, maybe he would finally get that, and the most magical thing would be, he’d get to share it all with Melody, a woman he had clearly loved for years.
Later, once in the restaurant, the friendly banter over the dessert led to Melody revealing a secret about herself, one which Brendan certainly hadn’t expected, but also one he didn’t have a problem with. He had let go of her hands which he had been holding, to stand up and walk round to her, but Melody then said in a sad voice she wouldn’t blame him if he wanted to go. Brendan would have answered her at that point, telling her wasn’t going anywhere, but he didn’t see the point as he was now bent down beside her and took her hand in one of his own again and told her exactly what he thought in the most soothing and calm voice. He then saw her look at him, and she had tears forming in her eyes. He certainly didn’t want her to cry, but he sure hoped she wouldn’t apologise for them, he’d take care of those in a minute. When he saw a stray tear fall from her eye, he used his other free hand to gently brush it away and continued to talk to her. When he had finished talking to her he had hugged her to him and then kissed her starting from her forehead and then her nose, cheek and finally her lips. He was once again glad when he felt Melody kiss him back; he loved all these tender soft moments in a relationship. He then saw those tears falling and he gently wiped them away again. “There ain’ no need fer them ma Little Butterfly.” That was when the waiter had arrived with their meals, and Brendan stood up and returned to his own seat grinning across at Melody.
When they were alone again Melody began to speak saying she was glad she told him but wasn’t sure how he would have reacted. She continued to say she knew he was different to other guys she’d dated but she just didn’t know. Brendan ran a hand through his hair, “Well, there are a lot of idiots out there Melody, but I ain’ one of them. Ya jus’ don’ go runnin’ off on yer woman jus’ cause she happens to mention she’s a virgin.” He shook his head, but kept smiling at her. Brendan was definitely far from one of those but he hadn’t really slept with that many women either, at least, not in the past ten years when he’d began to respect women and grew up. Oh he charmed the pants off them, flirted, but he had probably only slept with around six women and one of them was Stacey and one was Faith which had resulted in Libby.
Melody then continued to talk and Brendan listened to her, constantly smiling, and nodding his head in several places, waiting for her to finish. A few of the things she said made him chuckle slightly as well. “Well, I ain’ so sure abou’ tricks up ma sleeves or nothin’, but I like the whole takin’ it slow idea, tha’ I can do, an’ there’s plenty we can do in the sexual contact tha’ ain’ actually havin’ sex, or as I like to call it, makin’ love. Plenty of things to break ya in so to speak, we can do all of tha’, but only when ya feel yer ready, like I said afore, I ain’ gonna push ya. So it only happens on yer say so, we’ll get there me Little Butterfly, an’ when we do, it’ll be magical, jus’ ya wait an’ see.” Now Brendan was completely sure of his feelings, he was in love with Melody, maybe he had known it for years and it took this chance meeting for him to realise it, however, he still wasn’t sure he should say those words quite yet, usually the soon as he mentioned that on the first date it all went to pot, it had with Megan and it did in the end with Stacey. So he was going to keep those words for when he felt they were really necessary.
When Mel giggled it made Brendan chuckle, he was happy that she was happy again, because for a few seconds she seemed to be really down and he didn’t like it. Melody soon began to eat her food and Brendan did the same thing, but he then watched as she called for the waiter to ask for more cheese, which made Brendan laugh all the more. “Yer definitely inta yer cheese then, hafta remember tha’, make sure I always have plenty cheese in the house.” He hadn’t even realised what he said, but it was almost as if he was referring to Melody already living with him, not that the idea was a bad one, in fact the idea was fantastic, but only when the time was right, he was desperately trying not to rush this relationship. Well, not too much anyway, after all, Brendan was and probably always will be the king of love at first sight, except this one had a slight difference, it wasn’t technically at first sight, as he’d known Melody since she was fifteen.
