4th November 2009 Stacey hit the send button on the computer. Finally her first piece for the newspaper was done, and she was now free to do whatever else she wanted to do that day. Things were coming together nicely for Stacey, which was just a change since mid September, when things went horribly wrong for her. First she found out that the baby wasn't Brendan's, then because of that news, Brendan wanted nothign to do with her at all, kicking her out of his home. Stacey truly believed that that was the end of her and her unborn baby. She had honestly thought that the baby was Brendan's, but soon realised that it was actually Jake Hanniger. The very guy who had drugged her drink that night, and who had been put in jail. But after some persuasion from Debbie, Brendan's sister, Stacey visited David Callaghan, a therapist. Her first visit was a rather disasterous one when she had to be rushed off to hospital. So really that first visit wasn't much of a session with David. Though the following month, she felt that he had helped her enough to leave him behind as a therapist, and for him to move on as her now current boyfriend. Stacey couldn't ask for anything more from David, and was glad that she was able to move on. She now had everything: the most considerate boyfriend, a baby on the way, and now a part time job with the local newspaper. The next step was to actually get a better apartment, but that was the least of her worries right now. Was going to have to do. So now Stacey got up out of the chair at the local cafe which had internet access, and she bent down to pick up the many bags that she had already managed to get before writing that piece for the paper. Because of her and David starting to buy things for the baby, Stacey had started to go out each day to buy smaller things. So today it was baby clothes. More baby clothes, mainly for a girl. Stacey just had this feeling that it was a girl, and she had a feeling David did also. Just thinking about him made her smile. She headed out the cafe, and got a few steps before one of the bags broke, and clothes spilled everywhere. As she was trying to pick them up, Stacey spilt the coke she had, and some of it went on the new clothes. Well this just started the water works. Stacey threw the cup in anger, which rolled into the gutter. Through the tears and moodswing, she tried to pick up the clothes which were now ruined. "Shit, shit, shit."

Matt was walking down the street, his hands pocketed into his overcoat as he entered a nearby cafe, his usual coffee during his lunch break was something he liked to keep to. He was on a transfer mission to the Nevada district. They were low on members, and for a week, he was stuck there. But Matt wasn't you're average agent. He was after a secret service agent that was someone different to your everyday human. He could mimic the abilities of other evolved humans. And retain their powers, so his power base would build up as he mimicked more powers. It was something not a lot of people thought was a good thing.
And as he sat there, sipping his coffee, he pondered upon other things in his life. Such as the fact he had nobody now. No friends. No Family. Nothing. He was truly alone. And with the ability of regeneration, he seemed to be doomed to be alone for eternity. Alone and trapped in a job that he was blackmailed into doing.
Anger filled him up as he was turned off from his coffee, putting the half-empty cup on the table as he got up, walking out the door to see a young pregnant woman on the floor, tears in her eyes as what seemed like cola stained what seemed like baby clothes. Matt wasn't one for helping people out of nowhere, but she was pregnant. He was surprised no one else had helped her.
He quickly walked over to the woman, placing a hand on her shoulder with a sympathetic smile on his face. "Hey there. Are you OK?" He asked her in a soft tone, hoping he wouldn't surprise her.

Now that everything was going to shit for her in this instant, Stacey felt useless. She had to deal with carrying all these bags, let along try and walk with this ever growing stomache. Now the bag had to break. And of cause her emotions, and the moodswings had to start. After such a great start to her new relationship, the bad stuff had to come out now, when she was alone.
Stacey just that she had wasted her money on clothes now that were probably ruined. Why did she have to crave Coke? And why didn't she wait till she got home to have anymore? No, she had to have it there and then. Stacey tried to calm herself down somewhat, when she felt a hand on her shoulder. It made her turn around and almost snap at the guy, as the moodswing was going to be a bad one, she could just tell. But then he spoke, and Stacey felt herself begin to calm down a bit.
Stacey just left what she couldn't pick up and got up to face the man. Looking down at the clothes in her hand, it was making her sad all over again. "No, I'm not. I bought all these nice clothes now they are all ruined. I blame my stupid cravings for it. Why must they make things worse?" Then she started to get upset. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't take it out on you." Stacey bent down to try and pick up more clothes, and push them into the other bags that they had. She didn't want to impose on the man who obviously wanted to make sure she was okay. "Woudl you mind helping me with all this. My apartment is like three blocks away, and I just see no need to call a taxi. If it is no worries. If your busy I could just call one."

Matt just smiled sympathetically at the woman as she said she wasn't ok, that these baby clothes were ruined and her cravings were to blame. She seemed very annoyed, which was something Matt didn't really understand. It wasn't going to stain, so it could be washed out. Why was she so pissed about it? However as he pondered, she apologized to Matt for taking it out on him, bringing his attention back to her.
As she bent down to put the clothes into the other bags, Matt leant down immediately to help her out. "Here, let me. Don't put pressure on your back..." He said as he quickly gathered up the tiny clothes and placed them in the other bags for her. He smiled softly as she asked him if he could help her out, by carrying some of the bags to her place, which was 3 blocks away. It's not like he had anything else to do.
"Of course..." He said, smiling as he took a couple of bags off her, mainly the heavier ones. "Lead the way..." He said with a smile.

Stacey was still annoyed at herself, but it wasn't her, it was her hormones and the moodswing she had gotten herself into. She gave him a weak smile, as she watched him help her accumulate all the clothes that she had on the ground. Hearing this complete stranger comment about not putting pressure on her back, made her wonder if he had or was in a relationship with someone who was pregnant like her. Whatever the case, Stacey was glad that this man was here to help.
Once all the clothes were in the bags, Stacey asked if he could help her out with carrying them to her apartment. Seeing that smile of his, reassured her somewhat. "Thanks." She allowed him to take some of the bags off of her, which was a nice relief in her hands. He had said to lead the way, but before Stacey could go any further, she thought it was only right to know who the stranger was that was helping her. She put her hand out, "Name's Anastacia. Thanks for helping me out."
Once introductions were out of the way, Stacey led the way to her apartment. It was such a nice day, and not one which she had wanted an hassells on. "I would have had my boyfriend help, but he is working. He knows that I do this, so all is good. We just keep the bigger things for the weekend when he is around." She giggled slightly to herself, feeling more like herself now. "I just feel incredibly stupid for just having a spat back there. But glad that you came to my rescue." Stacey gave Matt a bright smile.

Matt just smiled at her as she thanked her mystery saviour for helping her out. Out of everyone in the street, the one who had lost his faith in mankind had to be the one who helped the pregnant lady out with her bags. That only strengthened his beliefs that mankind was a selfish species. However he wouldn't ponder about such issues now. He was too busy playing superhero to the pregnant women of the nation.
She extended a hand out, introducing herself as Anastacia. Wow, that wasn't a name Matt had heard often. He just smiled as he shook her hand, nodding slightly at her. "Matthew." He replied to her, as she began to lead the way. He was tempted to simply pick her up and run her to her home. It would've been faster. Especially when one had super speed under his belt.
Instead he was forced to listen to her drabble about her boyfriend helping out on occasions, as well as the giggles. Girly giggles gave Matt goosebumps on the back of his neck. It wasn't something he found attractive in a female. "That's nice..." He simply said, as Anastacia then began to apologise for her sat and how glad she was that Matt had come to her rescue. Rescue? He saved nations from terrorism and evolved humans capable of lifting cities with a thought. And this was counted as heroics? Wow, he'd dropped the bar on this one...
"I'm surprised no one else helped you before I got to you..." He said, his tone kind of neutral.

Stacey smiled at Matt, as he took her hand and replied with his own name. "Hey Matthew. Nice to meet someone who is willing to help someone like me, in this condition." She moved her hand around her pregnant stomache, still not sure how she was going to go with it all, since it was going to get bigger. Soon enough they were off walking in the directin of her apartment.
Stacey had then spoken about her boyfriend, and then heard only two words escape Matt's lips. Maybe she sounded like she was rambling too much. She didn't want to be rude, so just have him a weak smile. Maybe she should just shut her mouth for the rest of the trip home. But then it would be a very silent one then which might not be good. But Stacey had gone on about how she was glad that he had come to her rescue. Well it was true.
Stacey shrugged at his reply to what she said. "Well really, it happened only moments before you came over, so you were probably the only one who was willing to help. I think if it was anyone else, I was basically going to snap their heads off." Stacey knew that she wold never do that, but the anger inside her was one that she had been familiar with a few months earlier when with Brendan. It went with the moodswings that she hadn't had many of since she left him. She had been more depressed than anything.
Stacey felt that she needed to make small talk with Matt, since it seemed he didn't really have a lot to say towards her. "So. What do you do Matt? For a job?"

Matt just smiled weakly as Anastacia commented about Matt helping her in the condition she was in. He may have lost faith in humanity, but he wasn't a prick by any means. He just didn't like interacting with others. And even though this woman was grateful to Matt, she was kind of annoying him with her drabble. So he just smiled and nodded where it was appropriate when she spoke. That's when she asked him what his job was. Well, I'm being blackmailed by the government to work for them in tracking down dangerous specials. He thought to himself immediately while he turned to Anastacia and smiled a casual. "I work for the government." He said simply, not saying anything for a moment before he asked, "What about you?" (Sorry for the crappy post, muse just died half way )

Stacey began to start small talk with Matt, firstly asking him what he did for a job. Matt smiled at her, which she returned with a smile of her own, and he told her what he did. "Cool," what else could she say. It was probably important stuff, and he didn't want to elaborate, or that was what the feeling she was getting off of him. Matt then asked her what she did. "Well, I haven't worked in a while, up until a week or so ago. I am writing some articles, small ones, for the local newspaper. I didn't want to take on too much, and they understood completely. Once the baby is born, I am hoping to do a lot more."
Stacey continued to lead Matt towards her apartment, and rested her free hand on her stomach. She was still a little uneasy about what was to happen with the final end of the pregnancy. But she knew that she had the support of David, so really she shouldn't be worrying about it. "So, you working around here?" As Stacey waited for Matt to reply, she looked at the small park that they were passing. It was not much of one, and it was quite shady. She thought about when the time came for her and David to take the baby to the park, just the two of them. That bought a smile to her face, and she then turned her attention back to Matt.

{ooc - bringing in Bently for the benefit of the new idea of the thread!}
Bently hadn't been doing much over the last few months. Sure he had that enjoyment of killing that innocent new born. But really, he hadn't had any other enjoyment of late, and he decided to travel secretly around to see what he could sink his teeth into. Soon he found himself wandering around this small town, outside of Las Vegas. Bently was never one to lurk in big cities much, much prefering the small ones. But sometimes they even had their disadvantages. Everyone knew everyone, and if someone new came in, it was spoken about, and you were known. But Bently being Bently, he was hidden in the shadows, making his arrival unnoticed.
Bently soon found a small, and very much shaded park, which he soon sat in. Looking at his watch, he wondered if anyone actually visited this part of town. As Bently looked up, he got a glimpse of a pregnant young woman and a young man starting to walk past. He couldn't hear what she had just asked him, but Bently noticed her look in the direction of the park, and he moved closer towards them, still keeping in the shadows. For some reason, Bently thought that this was his chance to just nab someone, while the coast was clear. He felt the adrenaline in him come to the surface, and he took his chance.
Bently quickly grabbed the young woman by the arm, pulling her into the shadows of the trees, where they would be hidden for now. He waited for her to scream, yell, or something. As he noticed her stomache, Bently began to recall the day that he had nabbed that other woman months ago, and a smile crept on his face. Looking at her, he could tell that she was probably not as far along as the other woman, but still, fun could be had.

"Oh, so you're a journalist?" Matt asked her with a smile as he continued to walk with her, curious to what sort of articles she wrote. However she said that she had only done small ones, and when the baby was born, she'd be doing more. He just smiled at that comment. It was good to see people with goals, and ambitions. Unlike himself, who really had no direction in his life. She then asked if he worked around here and Matt shook his head in response.
"No. I actually live in DC. I'm only here for a week on transfer, until the new guy comes in." He said with a smile, as they walked past a park. It seemed a little shady, but Matt was OK with it. Until he turned around and saw the woman was gone, rustling noises from the park they had just passed. Matt whipped his head around in super speed, eyes widening as he saw someone in the shadows, holding Stacey. The man was looking at her stomach and smiled. Matt could hear the man's thoughts... That bastard!
Matt just dropped the bags, rushing forward with a burst of speed and stopping right in front of the man, reaching out as quickly as he had run and grabbed his throat, putting pressure on his windpipe. "You even think about hurting that woman and her child, and I will rip your head off." He said in a poisonous tone, his eyes narrowed on the man.
"Get out of here..." He said to Stacey, keeping his eyes on Bently as he spoke. Matt was hoping she would leave so he could deal with this criminal the way he usually did with people like him. She didn't need see the method.

Stacey half nodded, when Matt asked if she was a journalist. "Sort of. I did most of the subjects at university. But I was kind of messed up after it all, so never did go after the big jobs, just dabbled here and there. And look where that got me." The whole university experience was always the downfall for her life so far, and she hated it. But now her life was looking up.
Stacey nodded, as Matt said that he lived in D.C. and was only here for a week. She was about to reply, when she was pulled towards the park. Stacey couldnt get out Matt's name to get his attention, as she was dragged into the darken park. All she could now think about was her safety, and her unborn child. Stacey instantly placed her arm on her stomach, like she was trying to protect her unborn child. She soon got a glimpse of the person who had grabbed her, and Stacey looked at him in horror.
Her heart was racing, and she knew that it wasn't a good sign. Stacey's emotions got the better of her, and soon tears began to roll down her cheeks. She saw that smile form on the man's lips, and that made her even more scared. "Don't hurt my baby, please." Stacey knew the second she said that, it was the most stupidest thing to say. She could see what this man was like, how crazy his eyes looked. Stacey went to turn to see where Matt was, when she watched a hand grab at the man's throat.
Stacey gasped, squealing a little, when she saw that it was Matt. Again he was rescuing her. Twice in one day it seemed. The grip that the man was giving her was making her arm hurt, and the tears continued to fall. Matt spoke to the man, and Stacey looked at Matt wide eyed, and then at the man who had taken her.
She waited to see what the man would, and then Matt told her to get out of there. Stacey tried to get out of the man's grasp, but it wasn't working. It was like his hand was stuck to her arm, and they were never again to separate. "I can't..." Then it happened, Stacey felt a pain in her stomach, which made her scream out loud.

Bently was kind of disappointed when the woman didn't as much as say a single syllable when he grabbed her arm, pulling her into the darkened park. What was the world coming to? Didn't they know that they had to let the whole neighbourhood know that they were being taken? Supposedly not. Once Bently had her in the shadows of the park, he watched as she put her arm around her stomach. He just shook his head a little, thinking that it wouldn't do much good doing that at all.
The look she was giving him, when she finally looked at him was fantastic. It was like she had seen him before, but that wasn't the case. Normally people who got a glimpse never lifed to tell the tale, or would never speak of him to anyone. After he had smiled, thinking about how it was going to be fun to play around with her, she had finally spoken. Bently laughed at her. "Oh, I won't. Well, I will, but after I toy with you first."
That was all Bently got out before a hand went to his throat, restricting him from breathing properly. He looked at the younger many with no expression at all. But as soon as he finished his speech, Bently continued to grip the young woman, and laughed again, this time looking at the man. "You and who's army," he said, chocking out the words. Bently laughed more, as the man told the woma to get out of here. His grip got tighter on the woman's arm.
He watched as the woman said she couldn't. "That's right. You can't." Then Bently watched as the woman screamed out, and he knew something was up. He frowned slightly, and just threw the woman back. Bently then looked up at the young man, and tried to get out the next lot of words, feeling how strong this man was. "So you are special like me, I see. This should be interesting."

Matt quickly turned to Stacey as she tried to break free, her arm not able to break away from the man's grip as the man looked at Matt. He choked out a reply about Matt ripping his head off, asking with what army. Matt just smirked at the man. "I don't need an army." He said, his eyes narrowed as Stacey began to scream. Matt whipped his head to her, watching as the man let her go, by pushing her away.
Matt looked back to the man with a murderous look, tightening his grip on the man's neck, as he choked out a comment about Matt being special like him. Matt just smiled. "Oh, you have no idea how special I am." Matt said, aiming a punch to the man's gut, afterwards pushing the man back by using a martial arts move. He stood in a defensive stance in front of Stacey, looking back at her as she screamed. "What's wrong?" He asked in a concerned tone, turning his attention back to the man, but was listening for her answer.

Stacey started to panic when this crazy guy was saying that he wouldn't but then would hurt her baby, once he had finished toying with her. Just hearing that was making her feel worse than she was feeling, which she wasn't sure was possible. So much for me thinking that my life was back on track, Stacey thought. So much for this happy life that I was having, now it is going to end right this minute, and David isn't even here. That thought made her start to get upset all over again. She would never see him again.
Just hearing the banter between this man and Matt was enough for anyone to put the other guy out of his misery. Stacey knew if she had an ability, like how Brendna was special, she knew she could take on this guy. But for Stacey, she was only human, and was only able to use normal movements. And in her condition, she couldn't do much of anything really. Stacey had said that she couldn't get out of his grip, and shuddered when the man said that that was right, she couldn't. That was when the pain came over her, and after she screamed, the man threw her back, which made her hit her back on the bench behind her.
"Ou..." The blow to the back was hard, and she winced in pain. But she felt another pain in her stomach, and she tried to breath, like they had started to show them in the pre-natal classes that her and David had started going to. It was sort of working, but she knew that something was wrong, and she knew she had to go to the hospital. Stacey just didn't want to happen what almost did that day when David took her to the hospital. But this time it felt different somehow.
Stacey was concentrating on breathing and trying to calm herself down, that she didn't noticed that Matt was right over her. But she looked up, with a concerned and pained look on her face. Stacey shook her head slightly, as she looked at Matt. "I don't know. I know what it feels like, what I have been told, but it is too early." Stacey felt another pain, and she closed her eyes, trying to calm down, hoping that it would all go away. Soon the pain subsided, and she sat up on the bench.
