25th December 2009 Melody sat on the lounge in Brendan's house, taking in the scenes that had unfolded that day in the Harris household. The opening of presents early that morning, sharing breakfast and then lunch. Melody truly felt part of the family now. Well it was only right. She had unexpectedly met up with Brendan for the first time in years a month and a half ago, and they had instantly kicked it off, soon sharing their feelings for each other, and Melody sharing a secret about herself to him. They had spent the rest of the day together, even with her having to work that night, they still had dinner together back at Brendan's house, and then caught up more, which Melody had loved more than anything. So now since then, it seemed Melody had a new routine: she would go and do news reports if she had to during the day, if not, then she would see if Brendan was free, or offer to take Libby out for a day on the weekends. Then at night, Brendan would either drop her off at work, or pick her up after she read the news, then they would almost every night have dinner together. Each time they did this, it became so natural to Melody, and she never questioned anything. She always put her thoughts in for dinner, and always made sure that there was some cheese in there for her. Her mind came back to reality, and sipped on the egg nog that she had in her hands. Looking at the time, it was getting close to five o'clock. But then she smiled to herself, thinking that she didn't have to go into work, as she had two weeks off from work, this current week being the second week. But she knew that she was to go back to work the following Monday. Melody sat up in the lounge, and wondered where Brendan was. She hadn't even seen anyone leave the room, but she had been looking at a book that her mum had sent her, and had started to read it. Melody put the book down, and called out, standing up, heading out into the main foyer area, "Brendan? What are you up to?"

It was Christmas Day at the Harris house and Brendan never thought that he would be this happy again after his split from Stacey. He had gone down a bad couple of weeks after the revelation that the baby Stacey was carrying wasn’t his. If only it hadn’t been that Jake’s baby, he might just have been able to put up with the kid not being his, but it was just too much for him. He had then gone into another relationship rather quickly when an old friend from school had come back into his life, Olivia. But that turned sour as well when Brendan realised that he had gone into it way too quickly. He broke Olivia’s heart and for the first time in his life he actually felt like a bastard. But there was no denying that it was a mistake, it was just too soon after Stacey, he should have known better. But now, now his life couldn’t be much better. He had Libby and he had Melody. Melody was the best thing to happen in his life since Libby came into it.
He knew Gray had reservations about Melody, but that was just because he was pissed at him for messing up his relationships with Megan and Olivia, but Brendan wasn’t perfect, he never said he was perfect, all he had ever wanted was the love of a good woman and a woman he could love back just as much. He had found her. With Melody he was never going to look back and he never wanted to either. The only woman he had proposed to was Stacey and he realised that maybe he had proposed to her a little too quickly. At this point he had been with Melody for almost two months and he knew for sure she was the one for him. With Stacey he had proposed after a month and he had promised himself he would never propose again so soon, but then that was before he and Melody had met up again.
Everything about his time with Melody was different to what it was with Stacey. He knew Melody, like really knew her because of being school friends, she was full of fun and she didn’t give a damn about his wealthy status or how much money he spent on her, and she didn’t get all flustered over his many compliments, which was one of the main things that annoyed him about Stacey when he had been with her. He liked a woman who just took compliments on the chin or just thanked him, none of this, oh I don’t think I’m that good or that pretty rubbish, it annoyed the hell out of him. When he had seen the time, he knew he would have to go and check up on dinner, which with it being Christmas Day was a turkey roast dinner. There were only the three of them at this point, because Debbie was spending Christmas with her boyfriend William and his family and his mom and dad were still having problems over the secret about Grayson and Gray himself, well he had been at home earlier but had gone for a bike ride and so far he hadn’t come back yet.
They had already opened their presents, Libby was outside just now playing on her new bike, but that wasn’t all she had gotten. Brendan’s parents had spoiled her, and she got lots of new clothes as well as some teddy bears and board games and a baby doll which his mom had knitted baby clothes for and Libby loved the doll. They had bought her a pram for it and everything. She had explained in an excited voice that she’d never gotten so many gifts from just one person before. Well technically his parents were two people but he knew what she meant. Brendan himself had bought Libby quite a few things, as well as the bike, he had paid for horse riding lessons for her, and as well as the horse her grandparents had bought her at their vineyard, Brendan bought her a horse at the local riding school. Libby couldn’t believe it. He hadn’t given Melody her gifts yet, because he had wanted the morning to be all about Libby opening her gifts. And his father James was coming to collect Libby after dinner to spend a couple of days with them before they all made their way to Texas for Libby’s birthday on the twenty ninth, when she would be eleven.
He had been so lost in his thoughts thinking about things after he had checked on the dinner he forgot that he had left Melody in the living room and that’s when he heard her shout asking what he was up to. He walked out of the kitchen following the voice to the foyer. “I was checkin’ on dinner, everythin’ looks good, should be ready fer six.” They would be having dinner earlier than usual what with Melody not working just now. He wondered if Gray would actually make it home in time for dinner. With Libby having fun just now Brendan thought it was as good a time as any to give Melody some of her gifts. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to him and kissed her for a few seconds and then he gently pulled away and looked into her eyes. “Wha’ d’ya say to openin’ a few of yer gifts now Precious? I kinda wanted the gift openin’ to be all abou’ Libby since she ain’ had Christmas here afore, ya know? But I reckon its yer turn now.”

{ooc - and realised that she never mentioned about what she might have gotten Libby for her christmas present - silly me! Oh well.} Melody stood in the foyer, waiting to hear what Brendan was up to, and wondered when she would give him his present that she had secretly bought. She had the first week of her holidays last week, and one day when she was free to go shopping on her own, she had bought Brendan's present, along with one for Libby and one for Grayson: She had given Libby her present, but still had to give Grayson his yet, which she hoped she could in person. Melody hadn't seen him that day, even with Libby getting all of her presents. But she was sure that they would get to know each other more later on. Right now she couldn't wait to eat dinner at a reasonable time, rather than way too early, or later on at night. But it wouldn't last long, as next week she was back at work, and would miss out on going to see Brendan's parents for Libby's birthday. She hated that, and made a mental note to see what she could get for her birthday present before they all headed off and left Melody all along in Las Vegas. Soon enough Brendan had replied to what Melody had said, and he came out to meet her in the foyer. She smiled when he said dinner should be ready by six. "Sounds good to me." Brendan then wrapped his arms around her, and Melody put her arms around his neck. She sighed as he kissed her, and she of cause kissed him back, loving every second of it. Melody felt rather lucky to have Brendan in her life, and hopefully for a long time to come as well. After they kissed, Brendan pulled away, and asked if about opening up a few of her gifts. She smiled. "Why not. And totally understood about this morning. Libby is one lucky girl." Melody smiled, and kissed him quickly, then let her arms drop from around his neck. She grabbed his hand, and pulled him towards the lounge room. "Let's go!" Melody laughed as they headed into the lounge room. "I have a couple of presents for you also." She quickly sat down where she had been sitting before, and pulled out the big bag that she had brought with her. "You go first. I don't mind opening at least one of mine before you." She looked at Brendan with eagerness on her face, smiling brightly at him. She wondered what he had gotten her. But really, it didn't matter what it was, all she knew was that it came from Brendan.

After Brendan told Melody that dinner would be ready for about six she said that it sounded good to her and he grinned. He loved making Melody happy, well he actually loved making everyone he could happy but Melody had been his one main focus since they had met each other. Brendan had then put his arms around her waist pulling her to him and soon her arms were around his neck and he let out a gentle sigh. He loved Melody so much. He had then leaned in to kiss her gently for a few seconds and naturally Melody returned the kiss which Brendan loved. Up until this point they still hadn’t made love, but Brendan didn’t care, it was all the small things like hugging and kissing which made a relationship so special anyway. Once Brendan had pulled away he asked Melody how she felt about opening some of her gifts now feeling that it was now Melody’s turn to be spoiled for a while. He had to smile deeply when she said why not and commented on Libby being a very lucky girl. Brendan smiled some more, “Felt like I hadta make it special fer her ya know, wha’ with it bein’ her first Christmas with me, an’ she’s never asked fer anythin’, abou’ time she got spoiled I reckon.” Melody had then kissed him again quickly and then removed her arms from his neck and taking his hand pulling him toward the lounge room and Brendan had to chuckle. When she said let’s go Brendan couldn’t help but say, “Well I guess ya waited long enough fer yer gifts, alrigh’ then.” Soon enough they were in the lounge room and Melody commented that she had a couple of gifts for him as well and then she sat down and pulled a huge bag over that she had brought with her. She stated that he was to go first saying she didn’t mind opening one of gifts before he did. He replied grinning, “Alrigh’ then.” He went over to the Christmas tree and picked up the small packages which he knew were Melody’s gifts and sat down beside her on the sofa. There were another couple of things he wanted to give her, but they were more surprises than gifts and right now they were in one of the drawers in the lounge room. He then handed over the first of the boxes, knowing which one it was and hoping Melody would love it as much as he had when he saw it. Given the story she had told him when they first met and how he had called her his Little Butterfly, which he still did from time to time, but Precious was the one he used more, he just felt this gift had been very apt for her. “Hope ya like it sweetheart, when I saw it, I thought to maself, yeah tha’s somethin’ I could see Melody lovin’ an’ wearin’.” Inside the box was the following item:- It had pink stones which would match the other items he had bought her, but the one thing which stood out about it was the butterfly charm. Brendan really hoped Melody would like it.

Melody enjoyed the kiss they shared for a few second, taking it all in, even if it was brief. That didn't faze her in the slightest. Not having sex with Brendan wasn't constantly on her mind, but she couldn't not think about it sometimes. Melody had had some time to herself the other day, and she thought about it, and decided to talk to Brendan about it later on, or when it came up, when they were alone. She was happy with what she had thought about, and wanted to share it with Brendan. Melody had obviously liked the idea of opening gifts, but did comment on what he said about Libby having the morning to herself, with getting gifts. Melody nodded at what Brendan said, and had to fully agree. "Bren, it's okay. I really do understand. She needs a good ending to the year, and if getting a truck load of gifts, then that is what she deserves." Melody smiled warmly at him, loving what he did for his daughter. After hearing what Libby had gone through with her mum, and then finding out about this whole other family she never knew, it was definately a good ending of the year for her. "She is a good kid. No, a fantastic kid, and in the short time I have known her, she is everything that I want in a child one day." Melody was only telling the truth. She never wanted the worlds most perfect kid, but one that was normal, though she knew that if she had a baby, that it would have part of her in them, and they would end up with an ability. But whatever it was, if any, she would always except them. She had excepted Libby for who she was, and never thought of her having an ability sometimes. She was just a normal kid in Melody's eyes. Melody had kissed him quickly, then pulled him by his hand towards the lounge room. She heard him chuckle, and she turned and giggled a little. She felt like a little kid going to open her presents for the first time. But she didn't care. She felt like she could be her normal self with Brendan, and that was all that mattered. Who cares if she acted silly sometimes. It was only Brendan who was seeing that side right now. After Melody said that he was fine to give her her present first, he said alright, then went over to the tree, picking up some small gifts. She smiled, and wondered what he had gotten her. Melody just hoped that he liked what she got him. Brendan then handed over one box, and he said that he hoped that she liked it, and commented more about what he thought when he saw it. She placed a hand on his knee. "I am sure that I will love it. It came from you right? So nothing to worry about." Melody slowly opened the paper, then opened the box, and a grin instantly came upon her lips. She placed a finger on the butterfly, and then took the bracelet out of the box. Melody instantly wrapped her arms around his neck, and spoke into his ear, "I love it Brendan. Thank you." She kissed him on the cheek, and pulled away. "Can you put it on my wrist now?" She put her right wrist out for Brendan to place it on. Once the bracelet was on, Melody pulled out a rectangle shaped box, gift wrapped with a blue ribbon. "I hope you like this Bren. I had no idea what to get you, but then saw this, and it made sense to give it to you." She handed it to Brendan. She waited to see what he thought of it. Melody thought that he could place it at his desk at work, since he was editor in chief at the new magazine that he had been working on.

After Brendan had explained about the morning all being about Libby and making it the best Christmas she would hopefully have had in a long time he couldn’t help but smile deeply at Melody’s response as she said it was okay and Libby deserved it. “Thanks fer understandin’ Precious, although I knew ya would.” Melody had then gone on to say that Libby was a fantastic kid and how she was everything she would want in a child one day. Brendan grinned then, “Is tha’ righ’ Precious?” He asked thinking how wonderful it would be for him and Melody to have a child of their own one day, hopefully sooner than later. It still got to Brendan a lot that he had missed out on the younger years of Libby as a baby and growing up. Then he had that brief joy of thinking Stacey was having his baby and then having that ripped away from him had really got to him. “Ya know ma Little Butterfly, there ain’ nobody I’d rather have another kid with than yerself, an’ if they have ma qualities as well as yer own, we’d be sure to have one jus’ like Libby.” Brendan’s eyes misted over briefly as he thought about the future and had this vision of Melody telling him she was pregnant, he knew it would be one of the happiest days of his life. Libby would love it too, she had been so happy at thinking she was going to be a big sister, Libby had been just as disappointed as he had when it turned out the baby wasn’t Brendan’s. Although she sometimes did ask Brendan about Stacey, but he would just say she was a subject best not spoken about. Stacey had hurt Brendan with the little revelation, but now he was with Melody and it was time to look forward to the future and be happy once more. He then returned back to the moment he was in with Melody right now realising he had got himself lost in some thoughts. As Melody had pulled Brendan’s hand through to the living room he had chuckled due to the obvious excitement of Melody and she turned to him and giggled a little. He was so in love, Melody was perfect and sometimes he wondered why it had taken him so long to realise that. Once they were both sat on the sofa after Brendan had collected the gifts for Melody from under the tree he had handed over one of them saying he hoped she liked it and giving a little explanation of why he had bought it. He then felt Melody’s hand on his knee which made him close his eyes briefly enjoying the touch of her hand there. She spoke saying she was sure she would love it because it had come from him and that meant there was nothing to worry about. He smiled deeply at her as he watched her open the gift, “Alrigh’ then.” He saw a grin form on her lips after she had opened the box and he took that as a good sign. He then watched as she put her finger on the butterfly and Brendan smiled deeply and sighed gently realising that just from that reaction alone she loved the bracelet. Melody then took the bracelet out of the box and wrapped her arms around his neck and then he heard her saying she loved it. “Am sure glad ya love it, an’ yer welcome.” Melody kissed his cheek and Brendan leaned into the kiss and grinned again. Melody then asked Brendan to help put it on her wrist holding her right hand out. “Course I can.” He replied as he took the bracelet from her and opened the clasp and then placed it around her wrist before closing the clasp again. It looked gorgeous on her wrist; he then kissed the back of her hand. “It really suits ya, but then I kinda knew it would.” Brendan replied as Melody then handed him over a gift with a blue ribbon on it. She said she hoped he liked it adding that she had no idea what to get him until she saw this and thought it made sense to give him it. “Well like ya said abou’ ma gift, it’s from yerself, so am sure am gonna love it.” He then took the gift from Melody and began opening it slowly and he couldn’t help but smile as he looked at it once the wrapping was all removed. “This is awesome Melody; I love it, thank you sweetheart.” He then leaned in and gave her a kiss on the lips and made it linger. “Am gonna take great pride in showin’ that off on ma desk, next to the photo of yerself an’ Libby.” Brendan then handed over his other gift to Melody, “I hope ya like this as much as the bracelet.” Inside was a pendant and earring set which was made with white gold and pink diamonds.

When Brendan thanked her for being understanding, Melody smiled at him. She was always understanding for everything, but sometimes she wondered if she was too nice at work. At least she never had that co-anchor anymore. He was annoying. Melody had then spoke about Libby, and how she was a great kid, and added that she was everything that she would want in a child one day. Melody smiled back at Brendan, who was grinning back at her, and commented on what she said. She then smiled warmly at him, when he said more to her. Then to tease him, she grinned, "Is that right Mr. Harris?" But thinking about it, she knew what she wanted to tell him soon was going to make him happy, and she knew she was ready for it. Melody had then pulled Brendan towards the lounge room, where they sat, ready to exchange Christmas presents. Brendan had handed her the first one of her own, and she listened to what he said about the story behind the gift. Melody had said that she was sure she would love it because it came from him. She then started to open the present, as Brendan spoke briefly, and she returned the smile on his face. She then opened the present, and touched the butterfly on the bracelet, it was gorgeous. Melody took the bracelet out of the box, and then hugged Brendan, and said that she loved it, thanking him for it. After she kissed his cheek, Brendan then kissed her, and grinned. Melody then asked him to put it on her wrist, which he did gladly. Once it was on, he then kissed the back of her hand, which made her feel a bit flushed, but it quickly went as fast as it had come. Melody smiled at him, when he said that it really suited her, but he knew it would. Well it seemed that he knew what to buy her, and she loved how it looked on her wrist, moving it around a little. She then gave Brendan his first present, stating that she had no idea what to get him, but this present made sense. Melody nodded, when he basically said the same as what she said, when she got her first present. She smiled as he opened his present, and then Brendan commented on it, once it was unwrapped. "Your welcome Bren." He then kissed her, and she loved how it lingered, kissing him back as well. Melody then giggled a little, when he said that he was going to take pride in showning it off on his desk. "Well I hope so." She then laughed a little, knowing that he would instantly put it on his desk the minute he got back to work. Melody then took the second present that Brendan gave her, and she wondered what he could give her next. She smiled at him, when he spoke. "I'm sure that I will." Melody quickly opened the present, feeling nervous al of a sudden, knowing that what she was going to give him next was going to be a big impact in her own life. She finally got the present opened, and it revealed a necklace and earring set. "Oh Bren, they are gorgeous. Thank you." She closed the box up, and lent in for another hug. Melody could feel her heart beating so fast, willing it to slow down, but of cause it wouldn't until she got her second present to Brendan out of the way. She removed her arms from his neck, and then sat back for a minute. Melody looked down at her hands, thinking how to put what she was giving him next. "I, uh, just have one more present for you Brendan." Continuing not to look at him, she reached into the bag, and pulled out a small box, one tied with a white ribbon. She took a small breath, and then slowly looked at Brendan. "What is inside is very important to me, you have to know that. And I wanted you to know what I have been thinking about." Melody handed Brendan the small box, which contained the following folded twice: While she waited, Melody bit on her bottom lip, feeling her palms go all sweaty.

When Melody teased Brendan by asking him if that was right, he chuckled, “Hell yeah, damn sure I think it’s righ’.” He winked at her and then grinned showing off those ever powerful dimples of his. He loved Melody with all his heart and he couldn’t wait for the day when she would come into him and says ‘Bren, I think I’m pregnant.’ He just knew that he would be the happiest man alive at that moment. He then got a vision of how she would look when she like seven months gone, all blooming and even with that thought he knew she would still be as beautiful as she was now. He then snapped out of his thoughts as Melody began pulling him through into the living room to exchange their gifts.
After Brendan had given Melody her first gift and she had opened it and asked Brendan to help her put it on, he had said it suited her, and he saw that smile of hers. Her smile lit up the whole room and it was just one of the many things he loved about her. Melody had then given Brendan his first gift and once he opened it he had declared that it was awesome and he loved it. Although he had been an assistant editor at The Chronicle, this was different, at the magazine it would be his, and he would be the Editor-in-Chief just like it said on the plaque Melody had given him. Now that Ian had taken a more relaxed role at the paper however it would seem Brendan was going to be busier than usual, never mind trying to cut back on work to spend more time with Libby.
Melody had said he was welcome and then he had said he was going to take pride in showing it off on his desk, but he was referring to the fact of it sitting between his photograph of Libby and his other of Melody, but he chuckled when Melody said he hoped he would. “Of course I will, an’ jus’ had a thought an’ all, we should really get a family photo taken together, tha’ would sure be nice to sit on ma desk, don’ ya reckon?” Brendan said with a grin. The next photograph he wanted sitting on his desk while he was at work would be one of him and Melody on hopefully their wedding day. It was funny in a way that Brendan should work, he didn’t really have to, nobody in his family would have to work with the money they made from his parents vineyard, but Brendan couldn’t sit and do nothing. He would have to speak to April again and maybe Connor and see if they would help with the running of the paper and the magazine, so that he could still take more time to spend with Libby and Melody. He had a feeling that Connor wouldn’t say no to a promotion somehow.
Brendan had then given Melody her second gift saying that he hoped she would like it as much as the first one. When Melody said she was sure that she would, he gave her another smile and then watched as she opened the gift. Soon enough she had the gift opened and said they were gorgeous and thanked him. “Yer welcome Precious, glad ya like them, they kinda go with the bracelet a little, don’ ya think?” He asked her as he smiled at her some more and then Melody leaned in to hug him again. As he hugged her back he could have sworn he felt her heart pounding in her chest and he wondered what would be getting it racing so much, but then he figured it was just his imagination and shook it out of his head.
Melody then removed her arms from his neck after she had hugged him and he watched as she looked down at her hands, he wondered if she was upset over something and was going to ask her about it when she said that she just had one more gift to give him. He gave her a smile even though she wasn’t looking at him and replied, “Alrigh’ then sweetheart.” He then watched as she went into her bag and pulled out a small box which had a white ribbon on it. She then began to speak before she handed it over to him saying that what was inside was very important to her, this made Brendan raise his eyebrow because he quite frankly didn’t have a clue what could be in the box. He gave her a reassuring smile as she handed the box to him. “Okay sweetheart, ya hafta know tha’ yer very important to me, so wha’ever’s inside ya should know tha’ am gonna respect it.”
He then opened the box and again raised his eyebrow at the piece of paper which was inside, he lifted it out and unfolded it slowly, and just before he had it open outright, he suddenly had an idea what it might be, given what she had said about it being important to her. His assumption was proved right once he opened it fully and read it. Holding it in his hand carefully he then looked at her, smiling but with a serious look, his eyes were darting from left to right as he searched her face. True they had been together for almost two months and from the note it would seem Melody felt she was ready to take that next step in their relationship. “Are ya sure sweetheart?” He didn’t mean to doubt her note, he just wanted to make sure that she truly was ready, “I mean, this is great an’ all, am sure as hell in love with ya an’ there’s nothin’ I’d love more than to make love to ya, but I jus’ wanna know tha’ yer really, really sure.” In a way what he had just read sort of made his surprises feel like it was going to be the right time for them. Although with what he had just read, he felt that he had to wait for Melody’s response before he gave her any of the surprises.

Melody was glad that Brendan loved the gift she had given him. As they continued to talk about the present, she had to smile all the more. At least it was something that he could use, and then Brendan made a comment about getting a family photo taken, and that it woudl be nice to sit on his desk. Melody loved that idea, and loved how he had included her in the 'family' thing. She had felt that way ever since meeting Libby, and being part of their every day lives. It was a fantastic feeling, what with her own family not living in the same place as she was, and having to travel to see them all the time. "Of cause it is a fantastic idea Bren." She couldn't wait till they got it done, and knew she would have to get a copy for her own dressing room and for home as well.
After this, Brendan gave Melody her second present, which she loved just as much as the bracelet. Brendan commented on how the gift kind of went with her bracelet. She looked at him and smiled, nodding, "It does. Thanks again." Melody had then leaned in to hug him, and felt her heart being a mile a minute, thinking about what she was about to give Brendan. She knew in her heart she was ready. More than ready. She trusted Brendan so much, and loved him just as much.
Melody soon found the courage to give Brendan his second present, after looking down at her hands. She told him that she had one more to give him, which he replied saying 'alright'. Melody gave him a very small smile, and pulled the box out of the bag. She had then spoken about what was inside the box, and how it was very important to her. Melody tried to match his smile, but was finding it hard to sit still waiting for his reaction or comments on it. When Brendan commented, all Melody could do was nod. She didn't know what would happen if she spoke right then.
She slowly wiped her hands on her clothes slowly as she watched Brendan open the box. Melody wondered what was going through his head, as she looked at him, and saw the raised eyebrows when he finally opened the box. She swallowed a little, and watched him unfold the paper. Melody saw him looking at it, then his eyes met her face, and she began to bite on the inside of her cheek, wondering what he was going to say. As she moved her eyes down to the paper he was holding, Melody heard Brendan ask her if she was sure.
As Melody nodded slowly, Brendan continued to speak, and she wondered if he was having second thoughts, but then he spoke more. Those words he spoke made her heart leap in her chest. Melody's face started to light up a bit more, like it had been a relief for him to know that she was ready. Once he was finished, Melody nodded. "Bren, I am more than ready. I have done a lot of thinking over the last few days, and this is the result. I love you so much, and I just want to take that love to the next level, so to speak." Melody inched closer to Brendan, and placed her hand on his face. "I want you to be my first." Melody then closed the gap, and began to kiss Brendan with all of her love behind it.
After a few moments, Melody parted from Brendan, and just couldn't wipe the smile off of her face. She looked right into his eyes, and then wrapped her arms around his body, hugging herself to him. Yes, she was truly in love with Brendan, and now couldn't wait till they were alone that night. She was looking forward to the one thing that she had never done, and do it with the one perso who she truly loved.

When Brendan mentioned about getting a family photo taken for his desk at work and asked Melody what she thought he had to grin at her response when she said it was a fantastic idea. Well that was settled, he would make an appointment at the local photographers. Even though Brendan loved taking photos and had a camera and tripod which he could set the timer on, when it came to family portraits, he always liked to get them done professionally. “I’ll book a date fer us at the local photographers then.” Naturally it would have to be updated if he and Melody were ever lucky enough to be blessed with a child of their own, but it would sure look good to have a photo of him, Melody and Libby together on his desk as well as one hanging on the living room wall.
Once Brendan had given Melody her second gift, he had commented that the set went well with the bracelet and he smiled deeply when Melody agreed with what he had said and then she thanked him again. “Yer welcome.” He replied and as she hugged into him he held her close allowing his chin to rest on her head briefly taking in the scent of her shampoo. He loved Melody so much, every single touch drove him insane and yet for all the time they had been together he had been able to control his urges for wanting to make love to her knowing that he had promised her he wouldn’t rush her and they would only do it when she felt the time was right and she was ready.
Melody had then given Brendan his second gift, which had consisted of a piece of paper telling him that she was ready to take the next step in their relationship. Reading those words had filled Brendan’s heart with joy but knowing that Melody was a virgin he wanted to make sure that she was definitely ready about moving to the next step because it would be a very big thing for her. It would be big for him too because of the few women he had made love to none of them had been virgins apart from Faith who had been Libby’s mom and that was a long time ago now. When he had finished speaking he saw Melody nod her head and then she spoke to him replying to what he had said. As she spoke Brendan just smiled deeply at her and then she moved closer to him putting her hand on his face.
Brendan couldn’t believe that tonight was going to be the night, “Well, I reckon outta all ma Christmas gifts yer gonna be the best one.” He wasn’t meaning to make light of what she was going to give him later, he genuinely loved the idea of making love to her later that night and he classed Melody as a special gift in his life every day anyway. Melody then closed the gap between them both and began to kiss Brendan which he naturally returned. He could feel the passion in the kiss from Melody and he gave the same passion back to her allowing his tongue to explore her mouth as he did so, knowing that later that evening they would be doing something much more intimate.
After a few moments Melody pulled apart from Brendan smiling at him and looking into his eyes, he had a smile on his own face, his eyes sparkling and his dimples out in force and then Melody wrapped her arms around his body hugging herself to him which made Brendan move one of his arms to wrap around Melody pulling her even closer to him. As they hugged together Brendan then wondered if now was the right time or not for his surprises and then he figured what the hell. Even if he hadn’t got the note from Melody saying she wanted to take their relationship to the next level he had already planned on giving her the surprises, now they might just have more of an impact given what was on that note.
Brendan shifted slightly, and then kissed her on the forehead, “There’s a coupla other things I wanna give ya, I jus’ hafta go to the drawer, I’ll be righ’ back.” He said as he got up from the sofa and made his way to his ‘important drawer’. This was the drawer where he kept anything he didn’t want going missing. It was a very neat drawer and a lot of important documents were there, like his and Libby’s birth certificates. He pulled out a couple of things and a soft cardboard wallet and made his way back to Melody. Once he was sitting down he wondered what to do first. He opted to give the envelope first. He had gotten in touch with Melody’s place of work and managed to arrange the time off for her before he had booked the holiday for May. He felt that was a good time for it and plenty time for them to sort out other issues beforehand.
He then handed her over the cardboard wallet with a grin, “I think ya migh’ like wha’s in there somehow. Remember I asked ya where the one place ya always wanted to go was?” Melody had answered Hawaii, well Brendan had booked them a two week holiday for the both of them in May. He had already arranged for his folks to look after Libby for the fortnight if Gray was unable to. Inside the envelope were flight tickets and hotel reservations for Hawaii.
{ooc - he wanted to give Melody both his surprises, but I told him it would have more impact if the other was kept for the other post! lol}

Melody nodded, when Brendan told her what he was going to do, in regards to booking a photograph session. It was a good feeling to know that she was part of Brendan's family. She loved him so much, and wanted to be with him for a while, or even longer. Melody had never felt this way about a guy before, and it felt so good and real to her.
Melody had confirmed that she was ready for the next step, which was losing her virginity to Brendan. Really, there was no one she would rather make love to than him. He made her feel safe, completely loved her for her, and would do anything for her. All that made her feel like the luckiest girl around. When she had moved closer to him, placing her hand on his face, after confirming what she had said in the note, she smiled as he spoke. Melody playfully bit on her bottom lip, and sighed a little. She hoped that she was going to be okay in the department of love making, since this would be her first time and all. Melody had done all the fore play stuff before, but actually doing the act, well that was a different matter. She had then lent in and kissed him with all that she had. Melody felt Brendan's tongue in her mouth, and she let her own tongue do some exploring of it's own.
Melody had then pulled away, and just couldn't stop smiling. Seeing Brendan smiling back, and seeing those gorgeous dimples, made her want to take him to the bedroom earlier. But no, she didn't want to rush it. She had always imagined when the time came, that it was special, and intimate. Not rushed as she had seen on many a tv show or movie. Melody had one image in her head, and that was how she was hoping it would be. But she had no doubt with Brendan. The way he had been with her so far was enough to remove any doubt she may have had about her first time. Melody had then wrapped her arms around him, and felt Brendan hug her to him, puttting an arm around her body.
Melody murmured an acknowledgement, when Brendan had kissed her head and then added that he had a couple of other things he wanted to give her. Melody shifted off of him, and watched as he went away for a minute. She smiled to herself, leaning back into the lounge. Melody felt relieved now that she had told Brendan, or showed him via a note, that she was ready to be more intimate with him. Her heart, she felt, had slowed down to a regular heartbeat, which she was glad of. Brendan was soon back, and sitting beside her. He then handed her an envelop of some kind, and Melody gave him a weak smile, wondering what was inside it.
She began to open it, as Brendan spoke. Melody hadn't opened it all the way when she heard what he said. She instantly looked up at him. "You didn't?" She then looked down and opened the rest of the envelop, and soon was looking at the contents. Melody gasped, and added a smile to that, looking to see that it was tickets to Hawaii in May of the following year. She looked back at Brendan, with a huge grin on her face. "Bren, this is wonderful. Thanks. But I will have to check to see if I can get the time off from work. Not to put a dampener on the wonderful gift." She then wrapped her arms around his neck. "Thank you Bren," she said in his ear, and then kissed his cheek. She pulled away, and then looked down at the tickets. Now she was looking forward to do things: the intimate moment that night with Brendan, and now the holiday in Hawaii.
Melody put the envelop in her bag, and turned to Brendan. "I am afraid I have no more presents for you. But I hope that what we do tonight is enough to make up for it." Melody smiled, and lent her head on the back of the lounge. Then she felt her stomache rumble. That made her blush. "I hope you didn't hear that then." Melody giggled a little, and then looked towards the kitchen. "So how is dinner going?"

After the revelation of Melody’s note to Brendan saying she was ready to take their relationship to the next level she had moved closer to him and initiated a kiss between them. Brendan naturally kissed her back and deepened it with exploring her mouth with his tongue and he soon felt Melody return that gesture, when her tongue began to explore his mouth also. He couldn’t help but let out a slight moan of pleasure then and knew that when it came to later he was going to have to pull out all the stops to make it as pleasurable for Melody as possible what with it being her first time. He just hoped that he wouldn’t hurt her too much because he knew that it could hurt women for the first time due to breaking the hymen which was what happened when a woman broke her virginity. It would seem all those sex classes hadn’t gone to waste on Brendan; he remembered all the finer details. Melody then broke away from the kiss and Brendan found he couldn’t stop smiling at her with those gorgeous dimples of his out in force. They had always been what caused the women to come running and falling at his feet. Melody had then hugged into him and he naturally wrapped his arm around her hugging her to him and holding her close. After sitting like that for a few moments Brendan had shifted slightly and kissed her on the forehead mentioning that he had a couple of other things he wanted to give her. Her murmur as he kissed her forehead hadn’t gone unnoticed and it made him grin a little. Brendan had then gone to the ‘important drawer’ and pulled out the other surprises he had for her and the first one he had given her was the holiday he had booked to Hawaii, handing her the cardboard envelope with the flight tickets and hotel reservation inside. He had an envelope of his own, but the one he had given Melody was in her own name. As he gave her the envelope he saw the weak smile she gave him and right away he could tell she was wondering what was going to be inside, so he started telling her about the time he had asked her about the one place she always wanted to go. Realisation must have started to dawn on Melody as she then questioned him with a ‘you didn’t’ and Brendan couldn’t help but chuckle a little. Melody seemed happy with the surprise and said it was wonderful and thanked him but then added that she would have to see if she could get the time off work not wanting to put a dampener on his gift. Brendan just shook his head grinning, “Ya don’ hafta worry abou’ any of tha’ Precious, all taken care of. D’ya think I’d have booked the holiday without makin’ sure ya could get the time off first? It’s all done an’ dusted; yer bosses were fine with the dates.” He grinned at her, hoping she wouldn’t be too annoyed at him for getting in touch with her bosses and arranging the time off behind her back, but really if he wanted it to be a surprise for her, that’s what he had to do. Melody then wrapped her arms around his neck and thanked him before kissing his cheek. He couldn’t stop grinning, “Yer welcome, jus’ glad ya like it.” Brendan’s heart then began to beat incredibly fast, wondering if it would be the right moment or not for his other surprise. He had promised himself he wouldn’t jump in so fast again, but somehow everything with Melody just seemed to fit and everything was running so smoothly. It was almost like this was the relationship which was meant to be. Really it wouldn’t matter when he did it, he was probably always going to be nervous as hell, and it was now or never. He then fumbled around in his pocket where he had put the other surprise, or two really, but before he could say anything Melody began to speak again. She was telling him she had no more presents for him but that she hoped what they would be doing later would make up for it. “Ya don’ hafta apologise fer not havin’ anymore gifts Precious, yer all the gift I need.” He wasn’t even referring to making love later that evening either, he was referring to Melody as a whole. She was a special gift to him, she had come into his life just as he thought he would never be happy with a woman again and she had turned his life around. Melody’s stomach had then rumbled and she spoke saying she hoped Brendan hadn’t heard it. He just smiled raising an eyebrow, having been oblivious to it because he was too busy thinking about what he wanted to do next. “Hear what?” He asked, but that question was sort of already answered when Melody asked how dinner was coming on. He looked at the clock, “Well, should maybe check on it, I reckon it should be ready soon enough.” It was now getting on for quarter to six and he had said dinner would be ready for six. His heart started beating so fast again that he felt his chest was going to break if he didn’t just get it over with. “Afore I go an’ check on it again, there’ somethin’ I wanna ask, an’ I know if I don’ ask now, am probably never gonna ask an’ I migh’ jus’ die.” Alright so the dying thing was a slight exaggeration but really Brendan thought his heart was going to explode. He then pulled out the box which he had been fiddling about with in his pocket. He ran a hand through his hair messily and then he looked at her seriously and sighed gently before getting up off the sofa. “I wanna tell ya, tha’ I was plannin’ on this afore I got yer note abou’ well ya know, so it ain’ a spur of the moment thing or nothin’.” Come on Brendan just get on with it he thought, as he then bent down on one knee and took Melody’s left hand in his own, knowing full well that doing that was a major give away and Melody would know already what he was about to say and do. “Melody Webb, I love ya with all ma heart, an’ I know yer the one fer me, will ya marry me?” He then opened the box to reveal not only an engagement ring, but an eternity ring, both with an inscription on them. Melody waited for Brendan's next gift, wondering what it was going to be. Actually he had said that he had a couple of other things, which made Melody wonder what they could be. Soon enough he gave her the envelope, and she had then listened to what he said, and she questioned him, and all she got was a chuckle from Brendan. She opened it to see tickets to go to Hawaii in the May. But then she thought about how she would have to check with work to see if she could get those days off. Soon enough Brendan said that he had it all taken care of already, and that her bosses were fine with the dates. Melody wasn't that surprised, as they were pretty good to all of them. "Well, then thanks for organising all that. I am surprised that I never found out about it at work. Some people like to gossip and let things out of the bag."
Melody then thanked Brendan by giving him a huge hug, and kissed him on the cheek. She nodded when he commented. "I do. But I love it, not like it." Melody then lent her head back on the lounge, and commented that she didn't have any more presents for him, but she hoped that what they did that night was enough to make up for it. Melody smiled warmly at Brendan, when he said that she didn't have to apologise, and that she was all the gift he needed. She closed her eyes for a split second, and continued to smile at Brendan. Out of all the guys she had dated, and been in a serious relationship with, Brendan was definately the one for her. She knew that after tonight, there was no turning back at all.
Melody's stomache rumbled, and she said she hoped he hadn't heard that. She shook her head at him asking about hearing what. Then she asked how dinner was coming, and she watched him look at the clock. Melody slightly nodded her head, and sat up a bit in the lounge, when Brendan said that he should go and check on it. "Sounds good. I am starving." She began to move her bag, so that it wouldn't be in the way, when Brendan began to talk again. Melody looked at him, and wondered what he wanted to ask her. She frowned, wondering what he wanted to ask her, as it sounded rather important. What did he mean about dying. Melody frowned more, wondering if he was alright.
"Bren, are you okay? Is there something wr...." She didn't go any further, as she watched him get up off the lounge, and pull out a box. Melody felt her mouth open, but not to speak, but with what she thought might be in that box. Melody then closed her mouth, and swallowed, as Brendan spoke to her, and she sort of tried to nod, but she didn't know if she did. Then the next thing that Brendan did made her mind confirm what she had been thinking. "Oh Bren...."
She looked down at Brendan, as he got down on one knee, then took her left hand. Melody looked at his face, with her eyes moving about his face, not sure what she was going to say. She knew she had feelings, strong feelings for Brendan, and that no one had ever made her feel special or part of the family, like Brendan had. She knew that she never wanted to be with anyone, intimately, until she had met Brendan. And now that night she would be losing her virginity to Brendan. She swallowed, as Brendan spoke, and then she gasped a little, placed her right hand up to her chest.
Melody looked at the two rings that were in the box, blinking a few times, then she looked up at Brendan. "I... I don't know what to say." Her eyes deverted back down to the rings, and knew what her answer was. Melody looked up at Brendan, all serious. "Bren... I will marry you." Then a huge grin broke across her face, and she wriggled her hand out of his own, and wrapped her arms around him. Her Christmas was just getting better and better.

After Brendan had given Melody the tickets for the holiday he had booked for the both of them to Hawaii, she had mentioned about being able to get the time off, not to put a dampener on his gift. Brendan had then taken great joy in telling her he had already arranged the dates for her and her bosses had said it was fine. Bren had a lot of charm and it often came in handy when required for situations such as the one for getting the time Melody would need. Of course telling them what he was hoping to happen up until the point of them going away in May had helped in them saying yes she could get the time, and then he had sworn them to secrecy hoping that Melody wouldn’t find out, and obviously where the holiday was concerned she hadn’t, so hopefully nobody would give anything else away either. Melody then thanked Bren for organising it all and he just gave her a deep smile. “Yer welcome Precious, I’d do anythin’ fer ya, ya know tha’ righ’?” He asked, not that he had to because he knew she knew that already.
Melody had then given him a huge hug and kissed him on the cheek and Bren responded to the hug by wrapping his arm around her pulling her gently toward him, feeling like he had never felt before with anyone. When Brendan said he was glad she liked it, she replied by saying she didn’t like it, she loved it. “Am sure glad I booked it then, guess I jus’ wanted to show ya how much I love ya.” Bren knew he would feel at home when they were in Hawaii, because he wore a lot of Hawaiian shirts as he found them so colourful. Brendan let out a gentle sigh as Melody leaned against the sofa and then she had told him she didn’t have any more gifts for him to which Brendan had replied that she didn’t need to say sorry and that she was all the gift he needed. He watched as she closed her eyes but was smiling and Brendan knew he had said the right thing.
Melody had soon asked how dinner was going and after he had looked at the clock he said he should go check on it, but then added that before he did he had to ask her something and if he didn’t ask now he was going to die. It had been a slight exaggeration on the play of the word die and when Melody began to sit up and ask if he was alright and was going to say was there something wrong but trailed off, he knew he should have used better words. “No, there ain’ nothin’ wrong with me sweetheart.” He replied as he then got up off the sofa and pulled the box out of his pocket, and he saw Melody’s mouth open but no words come out. He took in a deep breath wondering if that was going to be a good or a bad sign, however, only time would tell, he had to ask the question. There was no going back now. Brendan had then said a few things to her about how he was feeling and how his decision was nothing to do with the note she had given him before. She still didn’t speak but he could have sworn he saw her move her head, just about. Then as he went to get down on one knee he heard her say ‘Oh Bren’, which made him take in another deep breath and then swallowed hard.
He still wasn’t sure if it was going to be all too soon or not, it felt right for Brendan, but would it be right for Melody? And this would be the second time for proposing, but this time it really did feel right. Everything about his time with Melody so far just made it feel right. Brendan then said those special words about how she was the right one for him and would she marry him. His heart was pounding in his chest right then unsure as to what Melody would say. He knew what he wanted her to say, but he also knew that it might just be too soon for her. All he could do was wait, but he did see her put her right hand up to her chest and heard a small gasp from her. He wasn’t about to take that as good signs however, not wanting to count his chickens before they were hatched. He saw her look at the rings in the box and blink a few times. Then she said she didn’t know what to say. Brendan felt his heart skip a beat; it was too soon, he should have waited. “Maybe I shoulda waited fer a while, it’s too soon ain’ it?” He asked, not that a refusal would have made him hate her, he could never hate Melody, he was completely in love with her.
She then looked back down at the rings in the box and slowly she looked back up to look at him seriously and then she said those all important words. Then a huge grin broke out over her face which made Brendan smile deeply showing off those dimples of his in full force. He couldn’t get to say anything else then as Melody wriggled her hand out of his and wrapped her arms around him. This made Brendan stand up pulling her with him and then he gently twirled her around before placing her back on the ground. “Am so glad ya said yes, ya’ve jus’ made me the happiest man in the world I reckon.” He then let go of her and gently took her left hand in his own and placed the eternity ring on first and then the engagement ring. He then kissed the back of her hand, “I love ya so much Melody, yer the most beautiful, precious person in ma life jus’ now aside Libby an’ I wanna spend the rest of ma life with ya.”
Brendan then remembered about the song he had been working on for Melody over the past week, while he had been thinking about proposing to her, knowing that he had got it right this time, and that was the title of the song. ‘Got It Right This Time’, however, he knew that he should get checking on the dinner, so that would just be another extra surprise for her later. He then kissed Melody with a bit of passion behind it and let it linger for a minute or two and then he gently pulled away and gave her a deep smile. “I guess I should go check on dinner now, wha’ ya reckon?” He didn’t wait for an answer though and made his way into the kitchen, now that he had got his most important question out of the way and got the answer he was hoping for, he reckoned he’d be able to enjoy his dinner now.

Melody smiled as Brendan commented about being glad that he booked the holiday then. Hearing him add that he just wanted to show her how much he loved her, made her smile, and shake her head slightly. "Bren, you show me that every day that we are together. But thank you." She took his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. Melody had then said that she didn't have anymore presents to give him. Hearing Brendan comment about her being all the gift he needed, she had closed her eyes, loving what he had said, and smiled at him.
Melody had questioned what Brendan had just said, and he soon said that nothing was wrong, which led to Melody letting out a silent breath. She didn't know what she would do if Brendan was going to share with her something terrible. She didn't want to think about what it might have been. The sight of the box, made Melody's mouth open, but soon after she closed it. After Brendan spoke about what he was going to do, and that it had no connection with what she had said, Melody had kind of nodded, or hoped she did. The sight of Brendan then kneeling down on one knee, as made her say only two words.
Melody had looked at Brendan as he spoke, unsure what she would say to him. But then those rings came out for her to see, as he asked her to marry him, and then her answer came to her, even though she knew what her feelings were towards Brendan. Melody hadn't meant to say to him that she didn't know what to say, and then Brendan added right after that, that maybe he should have waited, and questioned whether it was too soon. Melody just looked down at the rings again, not replying to what Brendan had said.
But she soon looked back at him, and then gave him her answer, soon smiling back at him. Melody then wrapped her arms around his neck, not allowing any words to be said. She felt that she made the right choice, as she truly loved Brendan. He then stood up, taking her with him, and twirled her around before she felt the floor under her feet. All Melody could do was smile brightly at Brendan, when he said that he was glad she said yes. Then Brendan took her hand, and put the eternity ring on, then the engagement ring on her finger. She glanced at the rings on her finger, and then watched as Brendan kissed the back of her hand. As Brendan spoke, she felt a single tear fall from her eye, and then snickered a bit, feeling silly for crying at such a happy moment. "I love you too Bren. And I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
Brendan then kissed her, making her feel how he was feeling through it. She wrapped her arms around his body, loving these moments between them. And she remembered that they would be even closer that night, and she knew that she had chosen the right moment to tell him that she was ready. After Brendan pulled away, he spoke about checking on dinner. Melody nodded, and watched Brendan turn and walk towards the kitchen. She stood for a few seconds, just looking down at the rings on her hand, smiling to herself. Before she headed into the kitchen, Melody grabbed her phone, and held it as she walked to the kitchen.
She slowly unlocked her phone, and then dialled her mum's number. Melody stopped in the foyer, waiting for someone to answer the phone at her parent's place.
Joselyn: Hello? Melody: Hey mum, just Melody. How are you? Merry Christmas. Joselyn: Hi sweetie. Merry Christmas. We are good here. Wish that you could have come home. But we understand. Melody: That's good to hear, and I know. I actually have some news.
Melody looked down at the rings again, smiling so much now that it was hurting. But she didn't care, she was happy, and that was all that mattered right now.
Joselyn: What's that sweetie. Melody: Brendan proposed to me... and I said yes. Joselyn: That is wonderful Melody. I know that you have been really happy with him. Though we still have to meet this man of yours. Melody: I have, and yes we will have to organise a time and date for all of that. I am sure that maybe a weekend will all suit us. Joselyn: We will have to discuss this further. We are just about to have dinner. Melody: Okay mum. Wish dad a Merry Christmas for me as well, okay? Joselyn: I will. And send our love and congratulations to Brendan. Love you. Melody: I will, and love you too. Bye
As Melody locked her phone, she knew that she had no need to contact her siblings right now, as she knew her mum would be on the phone with them right now, unless they were there already for Christmas. Melody tucked the phone in her pocket, and made her way into the kitchen. "I just rang mum, and told her the good news. She wants to meet the man who is making me happy." Melody just couldn't wipe the smile off of her face. She was just feeling so happy. Melody went over to Brendan, wrapping her arms around him, "So what can I do to help?"
