27th February, 2010 - Following on from The Day From Hell After Beth had grabbed at Matt’s arm and had indicated with her head that they should give her father and his lover some alone time Matt had said to Dominic that he would take Beth home. She didn’t really have a home though, so she wasn’t sure where that was going to be. She made a mental note to mention something about that a little later. However as they had begun to walk off Matt had asked her if she liked ice cream or what. She smiled up at him, “I do, but to be honest I would much prefer an ice cream milk shake, I love those, they’re always so creamy, that is if it’s okay please?” She did feel a little strange talking to him like this when really he was a complete stranger to her and especially after the way he had spoken to her earlier. However she sort of knew that she deserved that because she hadn’t thought her plan through when she had come to this time, all she had cared about was making sure that her father was never put into a wheelchair by stopping the plane because in her eyes her father was so unselfish that she felt like she had to do the selfish thing for him. She hadn’t expected so many things to go wrong though and she certainly hadn’t expected her power to bust up on her which meant that she would be stuck in this time. She didn’t know what that was going to do to her two daddies in her time but sadly what was done was done. Then it hit her, she had Ebony to think about, she had brought her with her, her ‘cousin’ and best friend, which would mean that she wouldn’t be able to get home either. Once they had reached the cafe at the airport which was away from the devastation and media Bethany decided to say something about it all, “You know, I’m glad that I know my daddy isn’t going to be in a wheelchair anymore, but I feel terrible at the same time because I brought my cousin with me and now she’s going to be stuck too. And when you said you would take me home, I don’t really have a home, not here anyway. I stuffed up badly didn't I?.” She said as she sighed deeply and bit on her bottom lip because she knew if she didn’t she was going to start crying and she just had this feeling that Matt wasn’t very keen on crying teenagers, especially ones who were selfish and she had to admit it, spoiled.

As Matt had suggested that the pair go for an ice cream whilst Dom and his... friend were together, he didn't know why he had done so. Normally he'd have just left them and gone home. But he thought that since he had kind of yelled at the girl, he should make it up for her. While he was in thought, he didn't really hear her comments about having a milkshake, instead of a ice cream. "Yeah... Yeah, whatever..." Matt said with a distracted tone before snapping out of it and looking at Beth, smiling. "Sorry... Got some stuff on my mind..." Matt said with a weak smile.
When they arrived at their destination, she then began to comment on how happy she was about her dad being safe, but also on how she had stranded herself in this time with her friend, as well as having no where to go. She then asked if she had stuffed up badly. "Yeah, you did. This is why you never travel back in time... things will always mess up." Matt said, looking at her with slight frown. "You did a very dangerous thing by coming back here. And you risked all those people out there to save one person..." Matt said to her in a calm, but stern voice.
"I know you love your dad... And I know you wanted to do anything you could to save him... But one person is not worth the lives of all those people out there... Just like my parents' lives aren't worth saving..." Matt said, his voice turning into a sombre tone as he mentioned his parents. He knew that he could go back now, if he wanted. Go back at stop them from getting into that car that killed them... But he couldn't. He wouldn't. Time was a dangerous toy to play with.
"But what's done is done, and for you, time travel isn't an option. So what's done in the past... is literally in the past." Matt said, his tone changing to a more upbeat one as he held the door open for Beth. "After you." he said with a smile.

When Beth had asked for a milkshake with ice cream rather than ice cream on its own she didn’t realise that Matt wasn’t really listening to her and then he had replied saying yeah whatever and she thought for a second if it was a bad idea to spend time with Matt and bit down on her bottom lip slightly but Matt then spoke again soon enough saying sorry and that he had stuff on his mind. She just gave him a warm smile, one that rivalled her father’s, “That’s alright, not surprised really what with everything that just happened before.” Knowing that she was the cause of that wasn’t a good feeling despite feeling good about the fact her father would no longer in a wheelchair. Her reasons were pretty selfish as well, he had wanted him to be able to dance with her at her first prom when he dropped her off, and she had wanted him to dance with her when she got married. She wanted to be able to run with him on the beach, so many things that Sam had to do instead, not that it bothered her because Sam was as much a dad to her than her father was but she knew it just wouldn’t have been quite the same.
Beth had then spoken about how she had stuffed things up badly despite being happy that she had accomplished what she had come to do she knew that she had to take responsibility for it. Matt then spoke to her basically agreeing with her then adding some more about knowing that she loved her dad but not one life was worth the many others out there. She knew that he was speaking the truth but it didn’t stop it from hurting. “It wasn’t even as if he had died, all I wanted was for him to be able to walk with me as a child, run with me on the beach, dance with me at my prom, dance with me when...” She trailed off as she felt the tears stinging at her eyes again, she wasn’t trying to be the spoiled brat even though she was the first to admit that her father had spoiled her at times, she then shook her head, “I know what you’re saying, I do, I can’t even begin to think how I would be if had died, if this is what I would do just to stop him being in a wheelchair.”
When Matt spoke about his own parents’ lives weren’t worth saving she put her hand up to her mouth, “How can you say their lives aren’t worth saving, they’re your parents? I get the butterfly thing now, but I mean haven’t you even been tempted, just a little?” She was only asking because she was curious. She had come back to stop her father from being in a wheelchair and she was glad to say that she had accomplished that although at the stake of other’s lives but thankfully they had saved anything happening to them.
Matt then spoke again some more basically saying that what’s done was done and since her time travel had come to a stop was literally in the past now. “I wonder if all my ability is affected, or if I just can’t go back in time?” She said out loud but more to herself, and then she sighed a little, “It sure is going to be weird living in this time, I hope my power gets restored at some point, although dad won’t be in a wheelchair anymore, I imagine he’ll be missing me like hell in my own time.” Then she had a thought and decided to question Matt about it whether he would know the answer or not, “Do you think he’ll know that I’ve changed things? I mean like dad when he was in the wheelchair and now he isn’t, do you think he’ll remember he used to be in one and that I’ve done what he had always asked me not to do?”
Matt then held the door open for her and said after her, so she smiled at him and said “Thanks” as she walked in and then made her way toward a table. She knew that she was going to have to tell her father why she had come back, he had always taught her not to lie and keep things from people and it would mean she would probably have to live with him, wasn’t it going to be strange to live with her father at this age, when at his current age he was nowhere near old enough to have a teenage daughter and then when the baby Beth came long, there would be the two of them, that was going to be awkward as hell, her power had to get fully restored, it wouldn’t be fair to her or her father for him to have to deal with teenage Beth and baby Beth.
