1st November 2008
Leona was glad to be back home, after her parents had sent her away to visit her relatives in Louisiana for a break. She couldn't deny the break had done her good, because it had, and her aunt and uncle and cousins helped her to cope with her growing ability more. Now she was able to put images into someone else's mind, to make them see something which wasn't happening. It was an awesome ability she thought, but not one she figured she'd use often.
Maybe if she was being hunted down, and she had to pretend she was dead to get away from villains or something crazy like that, but otherwise she didn't think she'd use the ability. She had been so glad to get back home and see her little sister again. She had missed her. Yeah so Laura was only five, but she meant the world to Leona. Leona adored her. Laura loved the teddy bear she'd brought back for her as well, which was brilliant.
Today, Leona's dad had given her some money and told her to go on a shopping trip and treat herself. So far she'd only found a lingerie set she liked. She had already been out for hours, and decided that maybe today wasn't the day for clothes, maybe it was a day for buying music instead. So she began to search out the best music shops and found immediately what she was looking for "Mamma Mia Movie Soundtrack" and made her way to the counter to pay for it.

Henry was busy as ever today. He had homework to work on, a science project due the next day, and he had to fill out a job application at one of his favorite music store. How he instantly liked a place after just moving there he'll never know. However, instead of doing the smart thing and actually doing those things, Henry was listening to music at said favorite music store.
There really was nothing like a nice long song to take the stress. As he was head banging and following the grove, he caught sight of a pretty young lady walking into the store. His eyes followed her around as she looked through the CDs. She was definitely a pretty one. Male instincts took over and Henry pulled off the headphones.
He strolled over to the counter where she was waiting to purchase whatever it was in her hand. Taking a peek at it, Henry frowned. He didn't know exactly what Mamma Mia was, but he'd try to play it. "Mamma Mia, nice choice." he said.

The queue was quite long, and Leona was beginning to wish they'd hurry up and serve everybody in front of her. She was getting tired and hungry, and needed a rest, or at least a break, her feet were sore from all the walking she had done. While waiting to get served, she took a look around, and that's when she heard the voice.
She turned to see a rather handsome young guy looking at her. "Yeah, I absolutely love the movie, the music in it is just amazing" Leona said grinning, and since he said it was a nice choice, he had to be into it, didn't he? A guy into musical movies, that was a bit of a miracle.
"So what's your favourite song from it then?" she asked, still smiling at him and hoping the queue will begin to move soon, not to get away from the guy who was talking to her, just to have a rest.

Henry grinned. Yup, he definitely had this one down. She seemed interested and what girl didn't like a guy that was into...what was the name of that CD again? Well it didn't matter. It wasn't like she was going to ask if he liked anything on it.
"So what's your favourite song from it then?"
Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh holy-moley crap. Oh, this shouldn't be too hard. He was sure he could think of something on that CD. Maybe. He had to think. Think Henry, think. Names something on that stupid CD. There has to be something in there I can think of. "I actually enjoy all of the songs on it." he said smoothly.

She watched his facial expressions to see if she could read anything from it, but she couldn't. But she could read his mind, couldn't she? Not that she liked doing that all the time, but the fact he was taking so long to reply back to her question, she couldn't help but let herself in there just for a few seconds.
When she realised how mixed up he was over trying to find a song on the CD he liked, it took her all her time not to go into fits of laughter. So he had been telling fibs just to get her attention. Well she had to give him points for that alone.
She didn't want to let on she knew his thoughts though, because that meant telling him she had an ability and he might think she was weird or something. Instead she just grinned, "Well I have to admit, they're all very good, difficult to choose a favourite, but if I had to, it would be Our Last Summer" she said grinning, thinking of the song and the scenes from the movie which went with the song, always made her grin.

Henry couldn't help but grin. That was a close call. He was almost about to blow his cover. He kept a straight face and flashed a smile. If he played things right, he might just leave with a new job and a new number. Straightening himself, Henry looked at her.
"Yeah, it was a a catchy song. A friend of mine plays it all the time." he said smoothely. Henry leaned on a counter that was next to him and tried to play things smoothely. "So, besides Mamma Mia, got any other interest?" he asked her.

Leona was glad she hadn't brought up the fact she could read his mind, instead, feeling glad about the fact he'd managed to get away with his little lie, when in fact he really hadn't. That was rather fun Leona thought, maybe having this power wasn't such a bad thing after all.
Catchy song huh? She thought, now she really did have to have some fun, as she began to sing a bit of the song and prompt him to sing the next line.
"I can still recall our last summer...." and she looked at him, grinning, waiting for him to sing the next line, knowing full well he wouldn't, because there was no way he knew the song. Depending on how long he kept up the charade, would depend on how much or how little she might like him.
"Oh I've got a lot of interests" Leona said with a grin, wondering whether she should start to mention a few things. She decided it wouldn't do any harm, "Soft rock, shopping, flowers and teddy bears to name a few" she said with a laugh. Of course she had other interests, but she wasn't sure she should mention them right at this moment.

It was times like this that Henry wished he knew what he was talking about. He could tell this girl was luring him in. She obviously wanted him to finish a line to a song he knew nothing of. How was he going to respond to that? He sure as hell couldn't make something up. She'd know in a heart beat. If he didn't respond she'd know there was something up. He was caught dead in his game. He had to admit this girl knew how to play the field.
Henry kept up the suave act as she listed some of her interest. He didn't hear boys amongst the the girly items that she named. Then again he doubted any girl would just come out and say they were interested in him after a minute of meeting. "Well, those sound like some interesting things. I myself enjoy long walks, poetry, and staring into such lovely eyes." he said, the last one in a hushed whisper.

Of course Leona knew that he wouldn't have been able to sing the next line of the song, so she had caught him well and good. She wondered if she should play him any longer at his own game, or if she should take pity on him and tell him the truth. After all, she didn't want him thinking she was some clever girl, when she was anything but, her abilities had a lot to answer for she thought.
"Very interesting" she replied when he listed some of his interests. Then she laughed at his lovely eyes line. Boy was he a charmer she thought. She shook her head slightly, but continued to look at him and grin.
"So is it every girl's lovely eyes you stare into or just certain girls?" she asked, still grinning at him, desperate to let him know about her power, but wanting to hold it back at the same time. Then wondered if she should at least introduce herself now. "I'm Leona by the way, Leona Stevens" she said still looking at him, and forgetting she was actually in a queue to get served.

Henry grinned. He could tell she was falling for him. Most girls do. In fact, not to brag or anything, Henry was a very smooth player. He knew what he was doing. He was very happy that this girl was digging him. He crossed his arms over his chest and gave a cheeky smile.
"Well, it's not everyday I see eyes like yours." he said. Ok, cheesy, but what girl didn't like a cheesy line from a cute face? He smiled when she introduced herself. "Leona. Well, I'm glad I can finally put a name to this pretty face." he said. "Names Henry Ward, but you can call be whatever you like baby." he said, macking it up.

Leona couldn't believe she was beginning to fall for this guy. He was such a charmer, not her usual type, but somehow he was using the right tricks to catch her hook line and sinker. Even though she knew he had lied about the whole Mamma Mia thing, she really didn't care. But she wouldn't let him away with it, and she wasn't going to give into him quite right away.
Not like Leona to play someone, but she felt after he lied, it was the least she could do.
"Well, now what can I say to that?" she said questioningly and then beginning to grin. He really knew how push a girls buttons. She rolled her eyes slightly at his pure cheese, but it was funny at the same time. "Glad to be of assistance" she said grinning, when he said it was nice to put a name to the face. Then he introduced himself.
"Pleased to meet you Henry" Leona said, almost tempted to use a similar line to him by saying it was nice to put a name to a handsome face, but decided to hold off on that one.
Baby?! Oh he certainly had the charm she thought.

Henry was grinning mad inside. Oh he knew he had this one in the bag. He was kinda disappointed it was so easy. Every guy likes a challenge, but he wasn't going to complain about that. Giving another grin, Henry looked behind her. The clerk was tapping their finger against the counter in annoyance. Henry gave a soft chuckle. "I think he's waiting for you Leona." he said, pointing behind her.
He stepped back and stepped out of the store. If she was interested, he knew she'd come looking for him. Leaning against the side of the building by the door, Henry waited.

"Oh, I forgot I was even in a queue" she replied, grinning and then going to the counter and handing over the CD. "I'm sorry for keeping you, distractions, you know?" she said to the guy behind the counter.
After she had paid for the CD, she looked around and didn't see Henry behind her anymore. She shrugged her shoulders, obviously being the sort he was, he probably chats up girls for fun and then leaves them hanging dry.
Making her way out of the store, she almost didn't catch him leaning up against the wall. Not wanting to make it obvious she saw him or was interested in him, she walked right past. She kept walking until she was a couple of yards away from him, and then swung round.
"By the way Henry, a little tip, it's better not to lie to a girl if you want to be with her" she said and winked, and turned back around as if to walk away from him again. If he wanted her, really wanted her, he'd come running after her.

Henry was shocked that she walked past him. He almost fell over from shock. He hadn't met a girl who has ever walked pasted him like that before. For a moment he thought his heart stopped. HE watched her as she continued walking. This had to be a dream or something. Then he saw her turn around.
His mouth fell opened. She knew. She knew and she was playing him the whole time. HE smiled. This was going to be good. Henry followed his male instincts and ran after her. "Hey. Hey Leona. Wait up for a second." He shouted.

Leona was able to clock his face before she had turned round again to walk away, and she began to laugh. It had worked. She had played him, just as much as he had played her. This was going to be a very good relationship if it were to start she thought and laughed to herself some more.
Then she heard him shouting on her and asking her wait up. Yes, she'd done it. This playing guys wasn't such a bad thing. She was always the one who got played, it was brilliant for the shoe to be on the other foot for once.
She stopped, and slowly turned round on her heel. "You called?!" she said softly, and looked at him, trying to suss him out, "Do I know you?" she asked him, "It's just I swear I was just talking to someone like you in a music shop, but they said they liked the Mamma Mia CD" she said, shaking her head, "And I don't believe that's you, so I don't believe we've met, how do you know my name?" she asked still looking at him mischievously.
She couldn't help it. It was just too good an opportunity to let the chance to joke back slip through her fingers.
