Jake listened to his father's comment on him liking being Connor's father figure. He rolled his eyes, but did hear the rest of the comment Robert made. A part of Jake wanted himself to let his father be there for him, but the stubborn streak that had been rolling since he 'bumped' into his father, was somehow making him not want it right that minute. Robert continued to talk, and Jake tried to look like he wasn't hearing it. Just hearing him say that he was going to sort Jake out, was enough for him to want to run and escape from his father, but his feet wouldn't move for him.
After the talk of his mother and so forth, Jake knew that he was now showing his old self a little. He hadn't been like this since, since, he really couldn't remember. His mother's death might have messed him up a bit, and now as a result he had done all of these things that he thought he was smart enough to do, apparently not smart enough. Jake had turned to apologise through the tears that were quite evident to Robert and Connor. He looked at Robert, waiting to see or hear what he had to say to this sudden change in his son. Jake swallowed a few more tears back, and then heard his father say that his apology was accepted. Jake listened to the rest of what Robert said to him, and he felt relieve a little. Maybe it was the start that he needed. Maybe it was the whole thing about his mum that was the thing that had needed to be said. Maybe this was when Jake's life was going to get back on track, for good.
Jake nodded at Robert slowly, and that was when Connor basically excused himself. Jake felt slightly bad about what he had to this guy, who his father was basically close to. He looked at Connor, and gave him a weak smile, kind of glad that he was gone, but not because he was hating what Connor was to Robert, just that he was able to finally get some time with his father. Well deserved time hopefully.
Jake leaned back in the booth, and wiped his hands over his eyes, trying to rid is face of the tears that had been there. He let out a deep breath, trying to calm himself down somewhat. Jake soon made eye contact with Robert again, and thought it was time for him to speak to him, as a grown up. "Dad, I am really sorry for everything that you have heard me do. I am... um just ... I don't know what happened. After leaving you when I was old enough, it kind of all went to shit basically, and I just continued to keep doing what I thought I was good for, you know? I just... I think I needed that wake up call, and kind of glad it was from you and not from the cops. Though they had a few choice words when I got busted."

The way Jake had become didn’t go unnoticed by Bobby and he sighed gently to himself wondering if he had finally gotten through to his son. He wasn’t silly, he knew there was a long way to go in Jake fully turning to the right path, but seeing him act the way he was now, was a good step in the right direction. Bringing up Claudia had been a sore point for Bobby, but it looked as if it was one which may just have broken through to Jake. He then saw Connor get up from the table and stumble over some words as he said he would give them some alone time. Bobby suddenly felt a little bad for Connor, realising that it probably wasn’t very comfortable for him. He nodded his head at Connor, “Thanks son, I’ll wave you over in a short while.” He then turned his attention back to Jake. Maybe if he could get through to his son once and for all, maybe he and Connor could become good friends, like brothers, Bobby would love that.
Once Connor was away from the scene, Bobby watched as Jake leaned back in the booth and then wiped his hands over his eyes and then he heard him take in a deep breath. Bobby braced himself, wondering what he was about to hear from his son, although he had heard a lot of things anyway, he basically just wanted to hear it from Jake. If Jake could admit what he had done, and admit that it was wrong, and then maybe they could see about making amends and Jake could finally set himself on the path of good again. When Jake finally did begin to speak the first thing he did was to apologise to Bobby. That alone made Bobby feel a bit better, and he gave his son a weak smile, it was the first step in the right direction as far as Bobby was concerned. He put his hand on Jake’s arm and nodded his head, “Apology accepted son.”
Bobby then stayed quiet and let Jake continue to talk and all Bobby could do was nod his head several times until there was a break in Jake’s conversation. Hearing Jake say he kept doing what he thought he was good for broke Bobby’s heart. He so wanted to just get up and shake Jake and tell him he was far better than that, and that he always had been, but somehow he didn’t think that move would go down so well. Not right at this moment anyway. When Jake said he was glad his wake up call came from Bobby and not the cops although they had plenty to say when he got busted, Bobby gave him a weak smile. “Well I have to say son, I’m glad I was the one who gave you the wake up call. I have to ask though, how did you manage to get out of prison, I tried to find you but failed, and by the time I did you were already gone.” He wanted to know if his son had broken out of prison, because that wouldn’t help Jake’s situation any.
“Look, I know you’ve done plenty of things you aren’t proud of Jake, and to be quite honest with you, neither am I, but you are my son, and if you let me in, we can move on from this as a family. I need you back in my life, I want you back in my life, and you’ll gain a brother and sister figure. Connor and his sister Chantelle are good kids Jake, they had a rough trot in life and needed a break, guess I was the one to give it to them. They don’t live with me or anything, so don’t think that, I just look out for them, but you know I’d love to have my son back in my home.” Bobby spoke as honestly as he could. Yes there were heaps of things Bobby wasn’t proud of about Jake, but blood was always thicker than water, and he had lost his son for long enough, it was time to get him back.

As Connor left the table, Jake knew that it was going to be better for him and his father to work things out. Jake looked at his father, while he commented on what Connor said, and watched Connor leave. Robert then turned back to Jake, and Jake gave him a slight smile, knowing that they were hopefully going to talk a bit more calmer than they had moments before.
After Jake apologised again to his father, he sighed again, as Robert accepted the apology. That small smile that Robert gave Jake was kind of reassuring to him somehow, and the touch of his hand on Jake's arm just went along with that feeling. Jake was glad that Robert was allowing him to speak more without interruption. That was what he need, Jake thought. Once he finished speaking to Robert, his father asked him how he got out of jail. Jake frowned a little, hearing how his dad had tried to find him. "Well, the guy who I was involved with, actually took my place in jail, bailing me out. I am kind of grateful for him doing that, and some ways think that I own him one now, but maybe not, since I got busted selling and spiking others drinks with the drugs." Just thinking about how those chain of events worked out was enough to make him shake his head.
Jake moved slightly in the seat, and continued to look and listen to his father. In some ways Jake felt bad for his father finding out about what he did via the media, but at the time, Jake just thought he could pull it all off, but that wasn't the case. He looked down at his hands, after Robert spoke, then he reached for the coffee that had come. Jake took a sip, and then put it back on the table, but not letting it go. "I am so sorry that you found out the way you did, and if I could turn back time, I wouldn't have done them if I knew the consequences. Though I have to live with it all now, mostly I suppose the things that I was caught doing. There are other things that I know that you probably don't know about, and maybe you don't want to know. It will just make you more disappointed in me, or even angry. but I would understand if you wanted me to just leave after I tell you everything."
He then remembered about what Robert said about Connor and his sister, Chantelle. "I suppose it would be good to have someone my own age, or around my age to maybe talk to." Jake gave him a weak smile, and then sipped on his coffee again. "And maybe it will be good to be home for a while. Don't really have anywhere else to go. I have just been crashing with chicks that I meet, so don't have a lot of stuff with me." Jake knew that he would have to get out of that habit of picking up girls and sleeping with them every night.

Once Bobby and Jake were left to talk and he listened to his son, he had then asked him how he had gotten out of jail. Bobby had been trying to find him, because he had wanted to get back the relationship he had with his son. He gave Jake a weak smile as he told him that the guy he had gotten involved with took Jake’s place in jail. When Jake then said he felt as if he owed the guy somehow, Bobby began to shake his head. He didn’t speak though, instead letting Jake continue to talk first. Jake then said that maybe he didn’t owe him because he had gotten busted doing what this other guy had asked of him. “I don’t think you do owe him Jake, you got put in there because of him and his drugs, so to be quite honest with you, I think he got what he deserved.” Alright, so maybe Jake got what he deserved as well at the time for getting involved, but if he could see that he had done wrong, well that was good enough for Bobby.
Jake then continued to speak some more, apologising again that Bobby had to find out through the media. Bobby just gave his son a weak smile; at least he had found out, maybe if it hadn’t been for the media, he’d still be unaware of anything Jake had done. “Well, maybe if it hadn’t been for finding out the way I did, we wouldn’t be having this talk now.” Bobby then took a second to think if he really did want to know everything else Jake had gotten himself into which he didn’t know about. But he did know one thing, despite what Jake had or hadn’t done; he’d never hate his son, strongly dislike him possibly, but hate him? Never. He just gave Jake a weak smile, “Well son, if you want to carry on and tell me, then go ahead, I’m already here, and I’m not going anywhere, we need to get back on track.” Whatever else Jake had to say, it couldn’t have been any worse than what he had to read about in the newspaper, so he couldn’t see it shocking him anymore than he had already been shocked.
When Jake then said that it might be good to have someone his own age or close to his age to talk to, Bobby gave his son a smile back. “Well I know Connor wasn’t too impressed earlier, but I’m sure if you two sat and spoke to one another, you’d possibly find a bit of common ground, who knows. But everyone can do with having some friends, even Connor.” It would be nice for Bobby if Jake managed to build a friendship with Connor, it might take them a while, but at least all the awkwardness would disappear with a bit of luck. Jake then added that it might be good to be at home for a while adding that he had been crashing with chicks he had met and didn’t have a lot of stuff.
“Well, my home has always been your home too Jake and your room is still there.” Bobby gave Jake a bit of a brighter smile then, feeling good that he had said he would come home. Maybe the two of them could finally get their acts together, at last.
{ooc - could maybe bring Connor in again after Jake's next post, get their friendship started off in one or two more posts and then this thread could maybe be finished?}

Jake kind of understood where is father was coming from, in regard to know owing Reefer anything. He shrugged a little, then slowly nodded a little. Jake then looked slightly sideways at Robert. "I guess so." Jake wanted to believe it. But really, what would happened when Reefer got out. Would he try and track down Jake?
Robert then had said that if Jake wanted to carry on with what he wanted to tell him, then he basically could. Jake looked down at his cup, and fiddled with the handle. "Well. There were other things besides the drugs, dad." He looked up at Robert, feeling he knew what was going to come from his father when he said the next thing, or things he did. "I... uh... I was kind of having a party of my own every single nights with girls. And I uh... sometimes didn't get the okay from them to um... you know." So here it comes, thought Jake. His father was going to totally disown him now, after hearing that he had raped girls. "But it was only a couple, or maybe just one in particular. The rest wanted it, I swear. I just don't know what happened to this one girl though. And the other one I met up with a few months back I knew." Just hearing the last sentence, Jake knew that it wasn't that great to hear. That Stacey was probably carrying his child for all he knew, probably thinking it was that Brendan's baby. Then the look of that guy just gave him the shivers.
Jake nodded a little, as Robert spoke of Connor. He glanced over at him, sitting on his own, and he did wonder if they had anything in common. Jake was just so used to being on his own, not having to worry about anyone, but wondered what it would be like to have someone he could talk to, besides his father now.
Just seeing that smile of Robert's made Jake give him a bit of a smile also. "Well I am glad that you didn't turn my room into some trophy room or something. But really we don't have any of those." Jake chuckled a bit, thinking that he hadn't laughed genuinely for sometime, and it felt good.
{ooc - no worries Mands - sounds good.}

Bobby could sense his son wasn’t overly convinced about this other bloke getting what he deserved. A parent could read their children well, and this was no exception. He could also see that Jake was possibly wondering what would happen if and when this bloke got out. Well, Jake would have his father in his corner, this bloke wouldn’t get to his son easily now. “It’s true, you don’t owe him a thing, and if you’re worried about when he gets out, well you’ll have me backing your corner.” Bobby gave his son a reassuring smile and patted his arm with his hand again. He might not have been too impressed with the things he had known his son had done and gotten involved in, but at the end of the day, blood was always thicker than water, and if Jake could get himself back on the right path with his help, then maybe he could be proud of his son again.
After Bobby told Jake to go ahead and tell him the other things, one of which he already had a good idea of due to office talk, Jake began to talk and Bobby listened not interrupting once, but nodding his head in several places to acknowledge what his son was saying. When Jake seemed to have finished, Bobby shook his head with a frown on his face. “It’s hardly the best stuff a father wants to hear from his son, but we all make mistakes.” He had heard about the girl Jake had forced himself on, because she was a good friend of one of the reporters and he’d heard that was pregnant, which meant Jake was a father and he a grandfather, but given the circumstances Bobby wasn’t laying claim to the child, and he also decided not to tell his son. He had a feeling the girl in question wouldn’t want anything to do with Jake or his family anyway. “You just have to move on from it son, I know you have good in you Jake, I know it because there is so much of your mother in you, you just have to find it again.”
He hadn’t wanted to talk about Jake’s mother again for fear of getting his son upset all over again, but he could see Claudia in Jake every single time he looked at his son, and he knew it would kill her if she thought her son was behaving in the manner he had been recently. He had to save his son before it was too late, and he was actually very glad he had met Jake today. Maybe it was fate, maybe he was meant to meet his son today and try and get him on the right path again.
Bobby couldn’t help but laugh a little at what Jake said in regards to his room. “Even if there had been some trophies, I still wouldn’t have turned it into one of those.” Bobby sighed a little feeling relieved that he seemed to be getting back on track with his son again, it felt good. “You know, it isn’t too late to get a trophy for your room, you could start up photography like your old man and get yourself some prizes for your art, or anything else that takes your fancy.” Basically Bobby was thinking if Jake could get himself into a career of photography then maybe he could get him a job as a freelance photographer for The Chronicle, it would help for features based on non specials. Just because the paper was run by Evolved Humans for Evolved Humans didn’t necessarily mean the content was always about Evolved Humans, they sometimes wrote about the normal world too. Jake could come in handy then.

Connor had been away from Bobby and his son Jake for a good twenty minutes now, and had finished his coffee long ago. He kept glancing over in their direction to try and pinpoint when a good time would be to go back over to them both, but every time he had looked over it would seem that Jake was still upset. Connor didn’t want to intrude on the obviously much needed father and son bonding time. He was actually just about to slip out and head for home when he heard a laugh coming from their table. Feeling somewhat a little more relieved he turned to look in the direction of the table he had left Bobby and Jake at and he couldn’t help but smile as he saw Jake and Bobby having a bit of a laugh and obviously feeling more comfortable with each other.
So he got up from the table he had been sitting at and slowly walked over, and waited until there seemed to be a silent spell between the both of them when they’d finished laughing at whatever it was they were laughing at. “Hi, I uhm, well couldn’t help but notice that things seemed to be a bit better now, thought it was safe to you know, uhm, come back?” He looked from Bobby to Jake giving them both a smile and then he swallowed before talking again but looked at Jake directing his words at him. “Sorry about earlier, but you know your father’s a good man, I couldn’t help but jump to his defence. He’s been good to me and my sister, but I never once thought I was taking your place, you have to know that.”
Connor then decided it was as good a time as any for the both of them to officially introduce themselves to each other. So he held his hand out, “Connor Robertson, officially glad to meet Bobby’s son.” He then gave Jake a smile and waited for him to shake his hand before he sat down at the chair he had been sitting at previously. He really hoped this could maybe be the start of a good friendship and brother bond Connor had never had but always really wanted, as much as he loved his sister Chantelle.

Jake listened to what his father had to say about the whole situation with the guy who he had dealt the drugs with, and the jail situation. Robert was telling Jake the right things, and he had to listen to his father. "Thanks dad." Jake's eyes diverted down to where Robert patted him on the arm. He sighed a little, thinking more and more that this had turned out better than he had imagined. Jake had imagined him giving his father another ear full, and just running away. Running really was not the best thing to do for someone who was in their late twenty's. No talking was the best medicine.
Jake sighed again, as he tried to keep eye contact with Robert, after telling him all he had done. Just hearing it all play back was enough to make him sick, and he now hated himself for it all. But as he kept thinking, back through it all, he had thought it was the best thing to do. Boy was he wrong. Robert then said that Jake had to move on from it all, and that Jake had good in him. "I guess I should stop stressing over it all, and move on. And really don't know if there is any good in me anymore. Only time will tell I guess." He hadn't commented on the bit about Robert mentioning how much of his mum was in him, because he didn't want to get upset all over again.
Jake smiled a little, when Robert made the comment about Jake's room. Then Robert mentioned about it not being too late to get a trophy. Jake sat up a bit, and listened to what his father had to say. He couldn't remember the last time he picked up his own camera. Maybe when he was with girls he might have if they had time for that type of fun. So it seemed that Robert had his future planned out for him already, and they had just spoken again after all this time. Jake ran a hand through his hair. "Maybe. Might do that once I am doing okay personally, if that is alright."
Just then, Connor came back, and Jake gave him a half smile. Jake nodded a little at what he had to say. He went to play with the napkiin, when Connor spoke directly at Jake. Jake listened, and nodded sheepishly. "It's okay. I was just in a bad place, and I was jealous that dad was actually going to just let me go. I am sorry also for what I have said to you." Then Connor held out his hand to Jake, and did a proper introduction. Jake slowly took Connor's hand, and shook it. "Hey Connor. Jake. Glad to meet you too." Jake gave him a warm smile.
He then watched Connor sit down, and Jake turned to his father. "So, how big was my little news in the papers? I hope only some of it actually got printed. Did all of it hit the news?" Jake didn't know if he wanted to know or not. But maybe he had a right to know.

When Jake spoke saying that he should stop stressing and just move on from it and only time would tell if there was still good in him, Bobby gave him a brighter smile. “You should definitely stop stressing and move on and I believe there is good in you Jake, you just have to find it, and you will.” Robert had to believe there was still good in his son, because if he believed in it, then maybe Jake would believe in it and he would soon find the good within himself again. Bobby had faith in his son and while he had faith, he wasn’t about to give up on him.
After the joke about the trophy room and Bobby made the comment about it not being too late he saw Jake sit up a bit and listen to what he was saying to him. When Jake replied it would seem he wasn’t too sure and Robert just gave him another reassuring smile. “Sure son, you will know when the time is right, and when you are ready give me a holler, I have connections, I could get you working for the newspaper as a freelance photographer.” There was no way he would have Jake working in the offices, it would be too risky with everything tha that had been in the papers about his son. But as a freelance photographer, they never had to face him.
It was at this point Connor came back into the picture again and Bobby smiled at him and motioned for him to join them. He never said anything as Connor spoke to Jake, this was what they both needed, Jake needed a friend and Connor needed a friend too, they could be good for each other in ways neither of them might ever realise. Once they had exchanged words and Connor sat down Jake had then spoken to Bobby again asking about how much of it had hit the news. Well Robert didn’t think it was the right time to discuss it, especially after Connor had just come back in their company.
“Maybe we could leave that for when we get back home Jake, it might be better to discuss it then, that is if you are coming back home?” He couldn’t see why he wouldn’t, they still needed proper time to talk father to son, and by Jake coming home with him later it would be the perfect opportunity for them to do just that.
{ooc - it's short but I know we wanted this one tied up - so I brushed over the question. Up to you if after you read Connor's if you want to leave it at that, or do a final finish post with Jake}

Once Connor had thought it was good enough to go back to Bobby and Jake he saw that half smile of Jake’s and then Connor spoke directly to him apologising about earlier but not being able to help himself jumping to Bobby’s defence as he had been good to him and his sister. He wondered how Jake would react, so he was glad when he said that it was alright. Jake then continued saying he was jealous that his dad was going to let him go and then he apologised to Connor for the things he had said. Connor shook his head, “It’s alright Jake, and things were said in the heat of the moment from both of us. Apology accepted.”
Connor had then held his hand out to introduce himself properly. He was glad when Jake took the offered hand and then introduced himself as well. “Well it’s good to meet you Jake and to finally put a face to the name your father has spoken so much about.” He wasn’t lying either because Bobby had spoken about Jake to Connor a lot. In a way Connor was hoping by saying that it would make Jake feel a good bit better about things.
Jake had then turned his attention back to his father asking about how much he had done got into the newspaper. Connor was about to up and leave again thinking that really it wasn’t any of his business but Bobby told Jake to leave it for later when they got back home. Connor then looked at his watch and realising the time knew he would have to get going. “Uhm, you know what guys, I really have to get going, and I have a date to get ready for. Jake I’m sorry we couldn’t have gotten to speak for longer.” Connor then took out a pen from his pocket and scribbled his mobile number onto a piece of a napkin and pushed it over to him. “This is my mobile number, feel free to call or text if you maybe want to go for a beer and get to know each other more.” With that he stood up, patted Bobby’s shoulder lightly and made his way out of the cafe heading for home to get ready for his hot date with Jessika.
{ooc - another short one - but thats Connor gone - so if Bobby needs to do a final one after Jake, then I will, just let me know.}

Jake gave his father a smile back, as Robert confirmed that he had to stop stressing, and that there is good in him and Jake just had to find it. "Okay. That is going to be something that will have to be worked on I guess." Jake knew he had to, if he was going to get his life back on track, with his father's help. Hearing about how Robert could get him a job sounded great, but he just needed to get himself sorted before he could take on work. "Thanks for the idea though. Just want to get things personally on track first, then the job thing will just start after that." Hearing that it might just be free lance might work to his advantage, after all that he had done. Jake was glad that Connor was easy enough to talk to, especially with him apologising over everything that was said and done before this point in time. "Thanks for understanding Connor." He was truly thankful. Jake then knew that deep down he needed that brotherly connection, and it might just come from Connor in the long run. Then Connor and Jake properly introduced each other. Jake smiled then, "Good to meet you too Connor. And hope to get to know you and your sister more." So it would seem he would get maybe two sibling-like people in his life. More than he ever had over the last few years. Jake had then asked Robert how much of what he did had hit the news. He was preparing himself for what was to come, when his father said that they could leave it for when they got home, if he was coming home. Jake nodded, "Okay. Sounds good, I guess. And yes, I am coming home. Don't have anywhere else to go." Jake then sat back in the booth, wondering what was going to be said later. How much of what he had done had been printed or spoken about? Only time would tell him, and hopefully sooner rather than later. Then Connor said that he had to get going, as he had a date to get ready for. "Hey, it's okay Connor. I am glad that we are going to get time to chat. I am sure that we will see each other around." Jake watched as Connor wrote down his mobile number, and pushed the napkin over to Jake, who took it in his hand. "I will do that, thanks." Jake looked at the number one more time, before he folded the napkin, and placed it is in his pocket of his jeans. He watched as Connor got up, patted Robert on the shoulder, and then left them alone. Jake turned to Robert then, "Maybe we should get going to have that discussion." {ooc - if you think Robet should, just do a short post then it can finish. If you think that Robert has nothing to say, then just archive, and let me know }
