Shadow of the Day [Future Peter/Open]

Gabriel Gray was sick and tired. He hated being sick. He was sick from the damn flu. He didn’t care. He hadn’t slept and Mohinder was barely around anymore. Well, Mohinder was, but he had just decided to stay away from Gabe for the time being. No one even came by and visited him. He didn’t mind it. He didn’t expect people to even visit him. Nathan was President and everything was fine…expect for the fact that he was sick.

Gabe had finally got the energy to get dressed. Hopefully today would be a good day. He hoped that it would. Gabe sighed as he went into his kitchen to make some eggs, when suddenly, his abilities started to act up. The next thing he knew was that his hands were orange. He tried to control the powers, for a moment. However, Sylar couldn’t control it and the next thing he knew a bomb went off and his house in Costa Verde and the rest of the city were in ruins. “Opps…” He managed to say before collapsing in a pile of rumble that was once his house.

Peter was driving down the highway into Costa Verde. He was bored, his group disbanded. He really didn't know why, it just was. He was driving his 2007 Jeep, heading towards Sylars place. He reached for the radio button, turning it on. He looked back up through his window and was immediately frightened. "What the hell?!" he whispered.

All he could see was bright lights all around him. The break lights of the vehicles in front of him and the bright light of the explosion in front of him. This explosion was no ordinary explosion. It just kept on growing. Getting closer and closer to Peter. Peter shoved his door open, in awe of what he saw. He was amazed. But then the sound of screaming people drowned out those thoughts and pulled him back to reality. He began to slide backwards away from the explosion. He could see the cars flip over as the road ahead deteriates. "Shit!" he yelled as he began to run.

Gabriel was blacked out. He couldn't prevent himself from passing out. He hated being sick and it always happened with his powers expect, for the fact that it never happened blew up an entire town. In fact, he always thought that he had got rid of the power, but yet it always came. Something was just wrong with that certain power. He was still blacked out unsure what was going on to the mess that he had just did.

Claire had just found out she was pregnant with her and Sam's first baby, and she was really excited and was looking forward to telling everybody the news. The first person she was going to tell other than Sam of course was Gabriel. So she got into her car and began to drive the short distance to visit Gabriel.

She was just about five minutes away from Gabriel's home when she heard the loudest bang. She stopped the car and got out and looked ahead and that's when she saw it. The mushroom type cloud just a little ahead, and when she focused she realised it was where Gabriel lived.

"Shit" she shouted, as she quickly figured out what had happened, as she saw the debris flying and coming closer, the light growing bigger as Costa Verde was turning into rumble in front of her very eyes. She shielded herself in the car covering her hands over her head as the light grew ever nearer. Once it had passed over, she immediately got out of the burning car wreck and ran toward Gabriel's house.

Within a couple of minutes she was there, choking in the smoke and ashy air, she began to scramble through the debris which was once Gabriel's house. "Uncle Gabriel!" she shouted, and coughed again, "Gabe?" she screamed again, and then she found him. He was lying unconscious on the ground. She bent down and cradled him, rocking him slightly as the tears began to flow from her eyes.

"Gabriel" she said again, "Wake up, come on dammit, wake up?!" she shouted into his ear.

Mohinder was finally cleared from work and was going back home to visit Sylar. He had been neglecting his partner, for a while. However, he was only doing that because he didn’t want to get the flu, from Sylar. However, he felt that he was ignoring Sylar and that was probably going to put a strain on their relationship and he didn’t want that. So he decided that he would take a few days off and spends time with his sick partner.

He was driving his car towards home from Los Angeles, when he saw a mushroom cloud. Mohinder had a concern look on his face and hit the gas pedal towards Costa Verde. Once he entered Costa Verde, he noticed that everything was in ruins. He quickly got out of his car and started to run towards the house, where Sylar and he resided it.

As soon as he arrived at the scene, he saw Claire holding Gabriel. He started to shake and run over to them. "Gabe?" He started to say as he shot Claire an evil look, "What the hell happened?"

Claire was having a hard time trying to get Gabriel round, he didn't seem to be budging. She was getting more and more upset, not good for someone in her condition. She began to wonder what had mad Gabriel go nuclear the way he had. She could only guess it was because Mohinder had been ignoring him recently. She could feel herself getting angry.

Then just as she began to think about him, who should appear but Mohinder himself. Giving Claire an evil look and asking her what had happened. The fact that Mohinder was obviously blaming Claire for what had happened got her even more angry. She looked at him with just as evil a look as he had given her.

"Don't you even think of blaming me for this Mohinder Suresh" Claire snapped, "I was just coming to tell him some good news and I heard the blast and realised where it had come from and in fact" she said through gritted teeth, "I was just about to ask you the same question" she looked away from him, and tried nudging Gabriel awake again.

"Uncle Gabriel, come on, wake up" she said again as she rocked him again, as the tears once again continued to fall down her face. She knew that Gabriel and Mohinder were in a relationship, and she knew that he hadn't been paying too much attention to Gabriel either.

"I know you've been neglecting him" she said sadly, "So if this is anybody's fault, it's yours" she said snapping at him again.

He continued to run away from the blast, but as he turned around to see how close it was. It was to late a car that was thrown off the ground and rammed itself into Peter. Peter died instantly with a broken neck and fractured spinal cord. His body lay corpse like on the pavement the car lying on top of his legs.

Soon afterwards, Peter was alive once more. His head spun around to its normal position and he could begin to move his toes once more. Though it was useless at the time. He noticed he was stuck under a car. Debris falling everywhere, so he did his best not to enhale it in. Looking around he saw nothing, no life signs. Just debris and bodies. To graphic to explain, he looked away. He began to pull himself out but nothing.

He was stuck and for all he knew no one was alive. But then he thought that Sylar could still be alive. He knew that there could talk with each other telepathically. He began to clear his mind as stopped struggling. "Sylar? Are you okay?" he asked. He began to try and get out from underneath the car. But again no use. He would have to wait for Sylar's responce, if he would respond.

Maybe he shouldn’t have shot an evil look at Claire, but he wondered what could have made Sylar do this and than he realized it the flu. For some reason, the flu made Sylar do weird things with his powers. He wasn’t sure if he should explain this to Claire or just to get yelled at. He decided to get yelled at. “I have been at work, he was fine when I left, he said something about getting dressed this morning and move around, he has had the flu for the past week”

“Gabe wake up, damnt just move or something” shouted Mohinder knowing that shouting wasn’t going to help. He didn’t know what else to try. He looked at Claire as she nudge his partner. He just stood there not reacting.

Mohinder listened to Claire and sighed. “I’m not blaming you” He snapped. “I haven’t been neglecting him, he has been hit with the flu and he wanted to be alone, so I respected his wishes” He said in a calm tone. “But I will admit that it is my fault” He said with a sad tone as he looked at Sylar.

Claire hated fighting with people, she especially hated fighting with family members, and since Mohinder was in a relationship with her uncle, then that made Mohinder a relative to an extent. She knew once Gabriel as Sylar and he was a bad person, even to the extent of where he took her ability from her, but as Sylar changed and became known as Gabriel, Claire began to form a bond with him.

The bond was so strong between the pair now, it was very difficult for anybody to break it, no matter what they thought of Gabriel. If she had a little boy, his middle name would be Gabriel of that she was sure. Mohinder broke into her thoughts as he spoke to her however.

"You were at work?" she asked him coldly, "Even though you knew he was ill and what he's capable of while ill?" she asked him incredulously shaking her head. She knew Gabriel could be stubborn though, so backing down slightly, she sighed. "I know what he can be like when he's stubborn, telling you he's fine when he wasn't, he should have called on me" Claire said annoyed with her uncle for not contacting her sooner. She shook him again a little.

"Come on Gabriel, you know you can't die, wake up" she kept trying to nudge him awake, not sure what else she could do or say to help bring him round. The tears continued to fall down her face.

"I'm sorry, sounded like you were blaming me, probably hormones, I'm sorry I said you had been neglecting him, but what makes you think its your fault?" she had to ask him, and then she sadly looked back down at Gabriel. This wasn't good, he had better wake up.

"Come on you, you have to wake up, you're gonna be a Great Uncle Gabriel" she said softly, through her tears, "Yeah that's right, I'm having a baby" she said as she nudged him one more time to try and waken him.

“He showed no remembrance of this kind of power, Claire, if I had known he could reproduce this power again, I would have stayed” He said shaking his head, “So I made a mistake, and I should have stay, even if Gabe was being stubborn, but that is the only one I have made, in a while” He responded to Claire. He was rather annoyed at her, but he would get over it soon enough.

Mohinder feel onto his knees on the other side of Sylar. Sylar was now between Claire and he. He watched her nudge him again. He then checked for a pulse. He couldn’t feel one, but then found it. “We have a pulse” He announced to Claire as he moved his hand to Sylar’s forehead. “Well, he is burning up” He looked up at a tearful Claire, “If that formula I injected myself with gave me telepathic communication, Matt can’t help, he is head of Homeland Security, and who knows where the hell Peter is”

He was muttering to himself and decided realize that Claire was speaking to him. He got something about hormones and something about why this was his fault. “Because I had the flu before him and I gave it to him, he wouldn’t have did this if I didn’t give him the flu” shaking his head as he removed his hand from Sylar’s forehead as he looked at Claire, “Gabe wake up…come on…Claire wants to tell you something and that would require your ass to open those eyes”

Gabe could hear voices, he just couldn’t put them to who those voices had belong too. He tired to open his eyes, but he couldn’t. He could feel people nudge and touch him. He hoped that it was someone that wasn’t an enemy of his. He could never defend himself with that. He then suddenly heard someone speak to him.

It was Peter. I guess… He manage to say. “I’m sorry, for blowing up Costa Verde” He said to Peter, hoping that Peter was okay. He couldn’t believe that he would even blow up Costa Verde. He hated having some of his powers. This was all his fault. He hoped that Peter would response…soon.

The debris had finally settled as Peter was still pinned under a car. He was beginning to worry, that Sylar was dead. But then he heard his voice. He smiled as he knew that Sylar was alive. "Well I am just peachy. I love being pinned under a car." he told Sylar with a bit of saracasm. He looked around to see if there was anything around, but still nothing. He needed Sylar's help. He couldn't get in a good position to lift the car off of him."I need your help.?

A bit sarcastic today aren't we?" Sylar said as he slowly opened his eyes and saw Mohinder and Claire hovering over him. He didn't say a word to them as he got up. He started to feel a bit nauseate. He just looked at the two. "You two blooming idiots can stop blaming yourselves, it is quite annoying and Claire, you can tell me your lovely news when I get back" He said as he started to walk through the ruins of his house.

Okay, where are you are you near my house or not? He asked in a serious tone as he glanced over the neighboorhood that once had houses. It was now in ruins as if it was Hiroshima or Nagasaki again. "Peter?" He shouted hoping his brother would hear him without having to telepathic communicate with him.

Claire shrugged but gave Mohinder a weak smile, really from what she could tell now, it wasn't anybody's fault. "It's fine Mohinder, I don't really see it as being anybody's fault, we all know how stubborn Gabe can be" Claire said, even if she was still really annoyed at Mohinder for virtually blaming her in the first place.

"Besides, we can all make mistakes eh, even the best of us" Claire said trying to be more soft, and giving a different approach to it.

She noticed as Mohinder bent down at the other side of Gabriel, so that he was now between both of them. "Pulse is a good thing, means he isn't dead, thank God" Claire said as she continued to hold him in her arms. This was one power Uncle Gabe was going to have to try and learn to control she thought to herself. Not that she was bothered about her home, she was more bothered about what the power could do to Gabriel.

"Well just because you had the flu before Gabe and he caught it from, doesn't really mean it's your fault Mohinder, anybody can catch the cold from anyone really" Claire tried to explain and smiled again, so Mohinder could hopefully tell she wasn't upset with him.

After a few moments, Gabriel finally woke up and the first thing he said was for her and Mohinder to stop blaming each other. She looked at Mohinder with astonishment as Gabriel just stood up suddenly like nothing had happened. She shook her head, "We weren't really blaming each other" she responded with a bit of a laugh. "It was more what you could say a discussion" she added.

Then he said she could tell him her news when he got back, as he left the house, or the rubble that was once his house. "Okay, sure, I'll be here waiting" Claire said as she watched him leave the house. She'd have to ask him how he was feeling when he got back.

He laughed, “Your right, Gabe can be very stubborn at times especially, if you ask him to repair a watch” He said shaking his head. Just that morning in fact, he asked Gabe to look at a watch of his and ask him to repair it. He objected at first, but Gabe came through.

“What like Gabe and I?” He asked sarcastically, “I know you disapprove of our relationship and yet here we are three years later” Mohinder said in an annoyed tone.

He gave another weak smile, “Yes, pulse is good, but this fever…” He said shaking his head. He was a bit concern about Gabe. He didn’t know why, but he thought something else was wrong with him and not just the flu. He looked at Claire and then backed down at Gabe.

“For some reason, if he gets sick, his powers come back you know the ones he lost from his father” He said shaking his head. It was still a mystery, but it didn’t matter. It was just a part of life.

Mohinder was lost in his thoughts, when Gabe woke up. He heard Gabe’s voice and shook his head, “Very funny, honey” He said with a bit of chuckle as his smile turned into a frown as he watched Gabe get up and walk as if he was normal. However, he could sense that he wasn’t acting normal. “Gabe are you okay?” He shouted to him “Something is terrible wrong with him” He said in a concern voice to Claire.
