26th October 2008
If there was one thing that she needed to do, it was go back. She had to get up out of the alleyway and go back to talk to him. Mohinder was the only one that was capable of giving her what she needed. But, there she sat, alone in the dark and damp alleyway, her legs tucked neatly up under her chin and her hands clutched tightly around. She had to pluck up enough courage to make sure that this had to be done.
She had to appologise.
Maya shouldn't have stormed off like she did. She was in two minds over going back to the lab and admitting defeat. One; she wanted to stay away from him - he used her, and she didn't want to feel used any longer, she had spent far too much emotional damage being used. But on the other hand; where else was she going to go? Maya had managed to get herself this far, but it was with the help of Alejandro and Gabriel. What could she truely accomplish on her own?
There it was again, the deep seeded feeling of nerves and guilt swimming around her stomach. Her heart made up her mind, she had to go back. Taking a calming breath, she squeezed her eyes together and got up out of the gutter, getting to her feet.
It was pretty late, but the city was still buzzing with activity, something she wasn't used to. She wasn't in her home down in Mexico anymore. She had to become smarter, and untrusting of those around her. She had to be strong and not afraid.
But she was afraid; terribly so and she needed Mohinder...
Walking back down the alley and turned the corner, pulling her jacket up around her shoulders. It was colder than she remembered half an hour ago, perhaps her emotional state disregarded the atmosphere around her, or maybe she was just more aware. Like she needed to start being -- more aware of herself and the things around her.
Walking up the steps of the lab, she glanced over her shoulder once again before drawing a deep breath, the wind knocked her hair about as the traffic continued driving past the shop. It dawned on her that nothing really mattered, the world without powers, they didn't know. They shouldn't know, it's against all evolution. Powers such as hers were tainted, and if Mohinder had made a serum that was going to give normal people powers, she didn't want to be apart of it. But, her feelings for him were really clouding her judgement. She knew better, but her desperation to be loved was taking over.
"Mohinder?" she called out gently, pushing the front door open, walking back down the foyer stairs, letting the door gently close behind her. "Where are you?" her timid voice echoed through the lab, it seemed odd that only half an hour previous they were fighting.

Mohinder was working non-stop the last few days. He was trying to help Angela in getting the hunger of Sylar’s Intuitive Aptitude. He had used Maya’s ability to see if he could even gain something that would control the unstable formula that he was working on. He had also been pretending to be a villain, for Sylar and Peter. It was very odd to play a villain. He was trying to get close with Sylar and Peter as friends, and then maybe take do something to Sylar, like he did before.
He had to do this. He had to make sure that he made a good serum that would be good and help control the hunger that Sylar was always complaining about. Peter didn’t care to mention about the hunger, but for some reason Sylar kept on mention a hunger and hated it. But yet, it didn’t matter he kept murdering people for their abilities. He hoped that this formula would help curve it down or perhaps even take the hunger away, but not the ability. Every ability had its flaw, but Sylar’s ability of learning how everything works, seemed a useful ability.
Sylar’s ability seemed to have a promise, for him to keep it would to Mohinder, but then again. Why was he doing this? Why was he helping out the murderer of his father? Did he feel sorry for Sylar all of sudden or was it something else, that he couldn’t yet figure out? It didn’t matter Mohinder would figure this out later. He was going to do what he had to do and he was going to help Angela and Maya.
He wondered if Maya was even going to see him again. He had used her and he was sorry for that, but he had to do that. It was shame, that he had to use Maya’s ability, but it would seem like the only thing that was going to help and maybe with him helping Sylar that maybe he would find a cure a way to take away Maya’s power and make her feel happy.
However, that wasn’t going to be a case for him to do.
Maya wanted no part of him anymore. He didn’t know why, but he still wanted to help her. Maybe after this situation was finished with Sylar and Peter, that he would actually be able to help her. He bit his lower lip as he heard the door open. He wondered who it would be and heard the familiar voice. It was Maya. “Maya?” He managed to say as he came out of the area where he was concreting on the formula at. He folded his arms as he looked at her. “What do you want?” He asked a bit sarcastically.

She wasn't ready to go back, but her feet decided to take it upon themselves to push her into doing it. She had to go back and ask for forgiveness. It was just hard to do so. As she stood in the middle of the lab, her head down as he looked at the painting on the floor, she knew what that meant. The world wasn't a beautiful place as she once thought, and she needed to accept that fact. She didn't look up as he had walked out from behind the work station, he listened to the coldness in his voice, demanding an answer.
Bitting her bottom lip, her squeezed her eyes tightly as she raised her head, she couldn't get upset, she must not. "I-" she cut herself short, opening her eyes as she locked the gaze to his own eyes. He was a gentle soul, but lately things had changed. "I'm sorry." She managed to whisper, lowering her head back down to the ground. "I can't do dis on my own..." she looked up, raising her hand to sweep the hair out of her eyes, a trickling tear falling down her cheek.
How could she say she needed him, without fully giving herself over? The conflict in her mind was hard enough to make any sense, but to say it out loud and admit that she was lost without him, with a different story. Taking a step forward she stopped herself looking helpless at him. Did he still want to help her, was he still prepared to do so? She wasn't sure anymore.

Mohinder was a bit sarcastic with Maya, but that was a side effect of the injection he took a few days before. He didn’t know why he would take the injection, but he had to. He had to help, Angela. He just had to be one of them. He couldn’t be a human being and be a villain. He had to have some sort of crazy idiot with a power, just like his fellow villains. He tilted his head as he unfolded his arms. He wondered where this would take them.
He sighed as he watched her. She looked like she was hurting. This was always his fault. He didn’t know why, but he always blamed himself, for doing whatever he had did to her. He used her for personal gain and he regretted that, but he wasn’t sure if she would forgive him on that. He looked down at the ground and then back at up at her into her lovely eyes, “I…forgive you” He managed to say unsure if this was really making any sense.
Mohinder had been not making any sense the last few days. He was consumed with doing this formula for Angela and pretending to be a villain to Sylar and Peter, yet they were so on to him. However, Sylar knew that he was a fraud, but he was surprise that the mass murderer would even let him live. It was kind of odd. Everything was odd lately and that was a scary thought what the hell did he do to deserve this. Something had to be done or something…he just wasn’t sure.

There was something very sensative in his voice, that showed her that he was sorry, it was a quality in him which she adored. It was a quality in anyone which she adored, it reminded her of Alejandro. His sweet and sensative demeanor, she missed him so much. Mohinder's body language changed in that split second, the simple signal of dropping his arms was a relief. She smiled; greatful that she was forgiven. "This is good news!" she laughed hesitantly, stepping forward and finally throwing her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulder.
He was just the right size, his arms were always so protective and caring. Much like Sylar's was; but she had to be careful, she couldn't allow herself to fall prey to it again. She couldn't be used. Pulling away from him, her timid and caring eyes shone with tears, "... we need each o'der, I shouldn't have walked out..." her soft voice trying to justify her reaction earlier. Still, the smile on her face grew as she placed her head back down on his shoulder.
Whatever it was, whatever pressure she had been putting him through, they could work it out. "I don't mean to put pressure on you..." She did feel like that could have been the case, at least from this newly pointed view. One where they were almost back to normal.

Mohinder smiled as he listened to her laugh hesitantly. It was good to see that they were both back to the way that they once were. Mohinder liked being on the same page with people. He hated having enemies, for some reason. He just always wanted to get on their good side and he knew he should forgive people. It was kind of lame, for him to do that but it was the way that he was. He blushed slightly as she rested her head on his shoulder.
He frowned as she pulled away from him. He tilted his head and watched her body language as she spoke so softly. Which was nice to hear her speak so soft, the way that she always spoke to him. He was in a bit trance as she spoke. He bit his lower lip, “Your right, you shouldn’t have walked out, but I blame myself for it” He smiled weakly, “I used you, and I’m sorry about that” He said as she placed his head back on his shoulder.
“It is okay, I guess” He bit his lower lip as he looked at his watched, “Maya there is something you should know…I kind of moved on with my life, we could still be friends, I would like that, you see I’m kind of seeing someone else, you kind of know this person” He said as he trailed off. He was going to be honest, he was seeing Sylar…

It was good to hear his soft voice, his forgiveness and even to hear that he blamed himself. It was sweet, the way that they took the blame for each other, and she liked that. It made her smile, whatever the relationship they had going was a good one. She hadn't had someone as close to her, or she had felt close to, other than her brother.
But there was something he said that made Maya pull away once more, and blinked at him. Was this right, was he telling the truth? "Moved on?" she repeatedslightly confused, what did he mean exactly by that? "Who?" She asked before answering her own question. The only other person she knew was Gabriel, and in that moment, her heart stopped. Her mouth opened as she stumbled back slightly shaking her head in disbelief. "No... why? He killed my bro'der! He's dangerous!" she could feel a large lump raise in her thoat, and turned around to try and calm herself down.
Could she control it this time? Did he just say the wrong thing to make her more upset. She didn't like to be the centre of attention, but ever since she left Mexico, nothing has gone her way. Eventually, she managed to calm down, inhailing and exhailing as she turned back around. "Do you love him?" she asked, her eyes brimming with tears. If that was the case, where else was going to go?

He bit down on his lower lip as he waited, for Maya to reply to his last statement. He couldn’t believe that he was actually said that, but it was the truth. The truth that he moved on and it was with a serial killer, it was kind of hard to even say to her. He wondered how her reaction would be. He just hoped that she didn’t use her power. Her power was very dangerous and he hated it sometimes.
“And he killed my father, but for some reason I don’t know, Maya…” He said as he looked down at the ground. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea to bring up. He knew that some people wouldn’t understand and yet, he expected her to understand. He knew that he would get this kind of reaction from someone. It was hard to tell people that you were straight only to say that you were gay. He looked up as he waited for her reaction.
Mohinder noticed that she turned around. He was stood there waiting for Maya’s powers to take into effect. He knew that it would only be a matter of time. He had upset her and he certainly hoped that the next thing he said would make her go into that effect. He bit down on the inside of his lower lip, “Yes, I do love him…” he said as he looked at her then at the floor.

So, there it was. The three words she didn't think she would hear from him. At least, not when it was loving someone else other than herself. At first she wanted to let herself go, let herself go wild and forget the world around her - letting her powers take over her soul. But, she didn't. If there was one thing that Gabriel did for her, it was showing her how to understand her own strength, her powers and how to control them. Instead of the black ooze seeping out of her eyes, only one solemn tear slid down her cheek.
She was afraid of being alone, after Alejandro died, Mohinder was the one who was there for her. He swore that he'd protect her, help her find the cure. Her heart sank along with her head. Maya leaned on the table, not wanting to focus on his face. Instead she let her head hang as she thought about what to say. Should she be happy for him, should she be angry and walk out as she had done earlier that night? It was hard for her to say...
She wanted so much just to say that they should no longer associate with each other, but any hopes of her becoming normal would be forfeit. "I'm... I am happy for you." she breathed, lifting her face and looking across the room at him. She had to let it be, let the past be the past and move forward, it was the only step to becoming normal.
"But I must ask you dis, have I still got a chance to be normal?" she asked with all sincerity. She didn't want to find out that he's stopped helping her, if that was the case then she really needed to move on.

“You don’t seem happy about it” He said as he looked at her. “I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t mention this, but I felt sexually attracted to the both of you, but I just think…Sylar…I mean Gabe is the one for me” He bit his lower lip as he tilted his head back, “We can still be friends, right?”
He still wanted to be friends with her. He didn’t want to lose her as a friend. She would make a good friend, he thought, but at the moment. His heart belonged to Gabriel. He couldn’t believe that he was falling for the murderer that killed his father. He just couldn’t believe that this was actually happening.
“Yes, you do” He paused as he looked up at her, “You do have a chance to be normal, I’m working on that formula, I just been busy with Primatech, but I’m working on it” he said with a smile, “I’m going to work on it today, as a matter of fact” He said as he gazed around the lab.

Attracted to both, she clentched her teeth while he spoke. She didn't need the details, but if he felt that he needed to get it off his chest, or justify his actions then who is she to deny him. "I am... happy," Maya added quickly, flashing a quick smile at him before turning back around and leaning her hands on the desk, letting her hair fall down over her face. She had to just accept that she was alone again, that he was going to find love with someone else. Nodding slowly, she cleared her thoat and stood straight, listening to him as he mentioned she did still have a chance.
At least that was good news, very good news. Mohinder still wanted to be her friend, just as much as she wanted to be his. Without him, who else could she turn to? She had no one else she could rely on, and he was the man in her life which she needed. So, he was going to work on it today, the urgency in his voice reassured her that he was still desperate to help her. That was a good sign also. "Thank you..." she said breathlessly grateful. "Is there any'ding I can do to help?" she asked taking a few steps forward after wiping the tear off her cheek.

“You don’t sound like it, Maya, but whatever” He started as he shook his head. He wasn’t sure if he should have gone into those details, but it didn’t matter. He didn’t care. This was his life and it didn’t bother him one bit. Of course, it probably was going to freak some people out, but hopefully they all would accept it. He hoped that everyone would accept it.
He wondered if they could even be friends anymore. He bit his lower lip, hoping that they could still be friends. He just wanted to be what he was and a friend to her was the best that he could look forward to it would seem. He sighed, “Your welcome” He said a bit surprised at her when he mentioned that he would work on her cure today.
“I don’t know yet, I would like to take another sample of your power again, the one I took…I figure out to curve Gabriel’s hunger..with killing people, so maybe with another sample of yours, I can figure out these cure” He said with a smile, hoping she would help.

Biting down on her bottom lip, she listened to him speak about Gabriel's hunger, if that was anything to go by, then Mohinder was going to figure out things she couldn't even dream of. Of course, there was no way she could do it on her own, and she needed to be compliant with his requests. If there was anything her brother taught her, it was to be helpful. Nodding, she drew in a deep breath, and walked over a chair beside his work station.
Rolling up her sleeve, she sat down and grabbed the belt for slowing the circulation around her arm. Only throwing it around her upper arm, she had trouble trying to clip it together. Her mind wasn't all there, she was thinking about how dumb she must have looked to him. She did like him, he was one of the good men - reminded her so much of her brother, in personality. How could she not have known that Mohinder wasn't interested any longer?
It all seemed so sudden, like it happened in a day. Smiling sheepishly at him, she indicated that she needed help cliping the belt around her arm.

Mohinder watched as she rolled up her sleeve. He noticed that she was having some difficulty with it and he wanted to help, but it would seem that he wasn’t sure if he should help her or not. He just waited for her approval. It would be best, if he didn’t help her. She was probably still upset with him over the whole thing about not wanting her anymore, but wanting Sylar.
She had the right to be angry at him. This was all sudden and he wanted to make sure that she understood that. However, he didn’t not to press the issue. He was going to help her and that was all that mattered to him. He wanted to help her and that is all that was going through his mind at this moment and time.
He sighed as he noticed that she did want his help. He smiled and helped her with the belt. After he clipped the belt on her. He grabbed a needle from his work station. “You’re gonna feel some pain, but it will only for a minute” He said as he poked the needle into her arm.

Maya's breath quivered as he helped her with the belt, it was more a breath of acceptance, more so than nerves. The lust that she felt was still pretty strong for Mohinder, but she knew better, or - new she knew better. When he tightened the belt and jabbed her with the needle, she whinced with the sharp pain before she relaxed and looked up at him.
"I still wan'd to be friends too," she agreed, her eyes soft and unfocused, "Ever since Alejandro was murdered, I have no-one... but you." She didn't know if her understood just how important he was in her life, and even though it was going to pain her to see him with any other person (forgetting that it's with a murderer), she was very much alone.
