December 1, 2008
Mohinder Suresh walked down the crowded sidewalks of New York. He was on his way to gather some food on Arthur Avenue. He was in the mood for Italian. Of course, Arthur Avenue had the best Italian food in New York. Nevertheless, he was going to Mike’s Deli. Mike’s Deli was very famous. He always heard his father talk about how the Deli was a good place to grab a nice sandwich.
He just never had the guts to go to Arthur Avenue and try the delicious food that this one particular area had. However, today was the day that he was going to make the walk to Arthur Avenue. He didn’t care if it took him days to arrive. He could have just ran to Arthur Avenue. However, he wasn’t in the mood for running. He decided that having a nice walk would be great for him.
After about an hour of walking Mohinder decided that he would just run to the deli. It wasn’t going to hurt anyone, he closed his eyes and got into a running position and ran off to the deli. He arrive a short time later at the deli. The Deli was very packed the line was out the door.
He stood in the line and waited for the line to die down. It did within 15 minutes. He was very hungry. He was finally the next one up to order. “Hello. I’ll have a small Anti-Pasto Salad, a small the Penne Alla Vodka, a cup of Pasta Fagiole, and a piece of Tiramisu” He said with a smile as he ordered what he wanted. Yes, he was a bit hunger. So sue him. He paid for his food and went to find a seat. He found a sit near the window awaiting his food.

Barbara had been out shopping for some clothes. Retail Therapy she liked to call it. When you were alone and single and a slightly down on your luck, you needed Retail Therapy. She had been out shopping now for over two hours and hadn't realised the time. It was getting on for lunch time and she began to realise just how hungry she was.
She found herself in the mood for some Italian, so she ended up in a place called Mike's Deli. Not that it sounded very Italian, but it was and it served the best Italian food ever. As she waited in the queue after entering the Deli, she was behind an Asian man who seemed to order quite a lot to eat. She wondered if he was maybe with someone else. But as she watched him head off to find a seat, he was alone.
After ordering herself a chicken pizza and biscotti with a mixture of strawberry and vanilla ice-cream, she then looked for a seat for herself. However, most of the tables seemed to be taken, and Barbara found herself wanting to sit beside the guy who had ordered his food just in front of her. It was the only other table with at least two free seats. She went over to him, and smiled, "Mind if I sit here?" she asked kindly.

“Not at all” Mohinder said with a kind smile to the blond. Hm…she looks like Niki and Tracy… He thought to himself as he got up. His order was called and he went up to the counter and retrieved his food. It was a lot, but he really didn’t care. For some reason, he found himself being hungrier ever since he injected himself with the formula.
Mohinder went back to his sit. “I guess I ordered a bit much” He said with a chuckle “Guess that what happens when you want to be…” He trailed off as he decided that he wouldn’t mention abilities. He didn’t know if this woman had abilities or not. He smiled and took out a book, Activating Evolution. He opened the book as he began to eat all of the food that he ordered.
As soon as he was finished eating his Salad and Soup, he took out a laptop and placed it on his lap. He also began to eat the Penne Alla Vodka thing that he ordered. He then closed the book that he was reading and placed it in his bag as he began to type. He then looked up. "I forgot you were their, sorry" He said kind of blushing a little "My name is Mohinder Suresh" He said as he decided to introduce himself, "I'm working on a book, I guess you could say"

Barbara smiled, "Thank you" she said, as she sat down, and looked around her for a short while, not sure what to do, or whether to start any sort of conversation or anything. But the man's order was called and he went to collect it. Soon after her own order was called and she too went up to get hers and came back to the seat with her food.
Barbara laughed when he commented on the amount of food he had, "I've seen people eat much more than you" she commented with a friendly smile as she began to eat her own food. He had trailed off with what he had been saying, but Barbara decided not to mention it, obviously it was something he'd rather not talk about. She wasn't about to start using her ability to read his mind, she only done that in extreme cases.
A silence fell upon them for a short while, as she continued to eat as did he as he worked on something on a laptop computer. He was obviously a business man Barbara thought, and there was nothing wrong with that. Then he apologised, Barbara lifted her hand and waved it slightly with a smile, "Please don't worry about it" she said kindly.
"Nice to meet you Mohinder, I'm Barbara Scott" she said, as she introduced herself to him, and showed interest when he spoke of writing a book. "So, I'm sitting with a famous author am I?" she asked, although the name Suresh rang a bell, wasn't that the person who wrote a book about abilities? "You said Suresh was your surname right?" she began asking him, smiling, and taking a breath, "I have a book in the house by a Chandra Suresh, are you related by any chance?" she continued.
It would be good if they were related she thought, because then he might know about people with abilities, and she'd feel safer talking to him about her own. Talking about your abilities wasn't something you did openly.

He smiled and nodded, “Likewise” He said as she introduced herself. He just wanted to make small talk. He laughed, “No I’m not a famous author, I’m just a geneticist” He said as he wondered why he she would even ask him if he were a famous author.
He nodded, “Yes, my surname is Suresh” He said in a curious tone. He wondered why she was so interested in his last name. He gave a weak smile when she mentioned his father. He hadn’t spoken about his father in years.
“That is my father” He said with a slight nod, “I’m writing a second edition to his book, I encountered more abilities that the book has” He said in a low voice. He didn’t want anyone to know what he was talking about people with abilities. It just didn’t seem right.
“So if you have the book, you must have abilities” He said sighing as he shut down his computer and placed it in his bag. “Or an ability” He said as he corrected himself. He knew that some people had multiple abilities and some just had one ability.

"Oh" Barbara said when he said he wasn't a famous author, but just a geneticist, it might have been to have been sat next to a famous author she thought with a bit of a giggle to herself. She smiled when he said that Chandra Suresh was his father.
"I thought there was a connection, it's also why I thought you were a famous author" she went on to explain, so he was writing another volume of the book. That was interesting. Just how many people with abilities were there out there.
Lowering her own voice as Mohinder had done, she answered his questions. "Yes, I have an ability, I have Telepathy" she said softly, "I got the book to try and find out more about it, what it meant, and why I had it, and found out all about these other abilities out there" Barbara explained.
"So, if you're writing a follow up book, there must be more abilities out there, your father never came across?" she asked, interested in it all, meaning that Mohinder must have taken over from his father into the research.
"Have you come across many more?" she asked, she couldn't help it, couldn't help but take an interest in it. For a long time Barbara had thought she was the only one with an ability, until she heard about more people having them.

Mohinder was just a plain person. He wasn’t that famous. He didn’t want to be that famous. He didn’t care if people thought of him famous. He really didn’t want to be famous. He was just a person trying to help people out. It was all he could do.
“Not famous, or I don’t think of myself like that” He said with a smile. He was enjoying this conversation with Barbara. He had no clue why he felt so comfortable around them. However, it really didn’t matter. He finished his food.
He smiled again as she took the hint that he wanted to speak in a lower voice, “Just like Matt” He said as he referred to her ability. He knew many people with the same ability. He smiled again as he listened to her explain. “Yeah there are many different abilities out their” He said with a slight nod.
He nodded “Yes, I am and I’m also writing details about some of the effects of some abilities” He said as he gave a weak smile. “Yes, I have come across many more, I work for this company that is like the witness protection agency for people with abilities”
