Novemember 6th, 2008 (2 Days before Election Day)
Nathan entered the capital building, and made his way to his office. He looked at the his watch and realised that his meeting with this James fellow is soon. He continued his pace down the hall and greeted everyone he had passed. He was then stopped by another senator. This is where the senator had informed him of the death of Wayne. His running mate. Apparently he was murdered. Nathan was saddened at the news of this and couldn't believe such a thing. He thought Wayne was a great person and that he would be a great president. Nathan continued through the hall as he neared his office. Opening the door, he entered his room. Shutting the door behind him, he sat behind his desk and turned on the computer.
Nathan was waiting for someone in his office. This someone was suppposedly going to interview the him. He didn't mind interviews. They were easy. He just didn't like everyone asking questions all at once. He couldn't concentrate worth shit when that happened. He had hoped that this interview wouldn't be about Wayne. He knew nothing of the murder. Or anything for that matter.

James was trying to find his way through the capital building. He had foolishly assumed that getting in would be an easy task. However, James had failed to realize that with the recent rumor of Wayne being killed that security would be maximized. It had taken him an thirty minutes to get past the guards in front of the capital building and another half hour to get past the front desk. Now he was lost in the place trying to find Nathan Petrelli's office.
His cellphone started to ring and the youth picked it up. "Hello. Oh, yeah boss I'm on my way right now. Uh huh...Yeah don't worry I've got this handled...Wait, come again? You want me to what?...Alright, but I doubt he knows anything about what happened to Wayne boss." Hanging up, James searched his surrounding one last time. He then realized that he was standing in front of Petrelli's office.
Seeing no guards, he assumed the senator wasn't there. However, he decided to go with his gut feeling. Silently he went up to the door and knocked on it, waiting to see if anyone was in. While waiting for the response, James pulled out his notepad and pencil from his coat pocket. He didn't really looked like a news reporter, being dressed in a plain white T-shirt, blue jeans, and a leather jacket, but he didn't care much about looking the part.

Nathan awaited another ten minutes. His computer had finally booted up during these ten minutes. So he began to type a speech to confirm his win in the presidential elections. That was only if he had one though. He liked to be prepared. Opening up Microsoft Word, he began to type away. He had to figure what he would say. He typed his ideas first. After his ideas where all typed up, he began to formulate them into a decent speech. An acceptance speech, to be exact.
About a half hour later, half his speech was atleast finished. He then had the urge to visit the bathroom. Turning of the power of his monitor, he stood up from behind his desk. He began to walk around it and towards the door. This was were he had realised how bad he had to go. He opened the door quickly, and shut it behind him as he left his office.
Soon afterwards he had returned towards his office, feeling relieved. He noticed a man outside his office door. He noticed the man knock. He walked up towards this man thinking that it was the reporter. He reached his hand out and tapped the man on the shoulder. "Mr. Ward?"

James huffed when he got no response from the door. It was obvious he had missed his appointment and Nathan Petrelli had obviously left. Oh how he had security guards. They always made you late for everything. Ready to throw in the towel and go, James sighed on last time. That was when he felt someone tap him on the shoulder. Startled, he twirled around, coming face to face with the senator he was about to interview.
"Oh, Senator. Look sorry I was late there was this guard outside and he kept me in. And then the lady at the front desk held me up." James explained. "I'm not too late for an interview am I?" he asked. He really needed this. His boss was bad enough on a daily basis. Missing an interview with Petrelli would be a death wish for himself.

He smiled. "Not at all." He walked toward his door. "Come on in a take a seat." Nathan said as he twisted the knob and opened it. Stepping inside his office after the kid, he also took a sit behind his text. He raised his hands towards the corners of his laptop screen and shut it. This would put his notebook to sleep. Resting, he laid backwards in his chair. "So what to you want to know?" he asked the journalist.

James walked into the office, looking around. It looked basic enough, nothing too bad about. The desk seemed a little messy, but James assumed it was from paper work. Taking a seat in front of the senator, James pulled out his pen and note pad. Right, lets get this interview on the road shall we.
"Well Senator, a lot of people are really curious as to why you decided to run for office. I mean, did you just make senator not too long ago?"

Nathan sat as the the interviewee began to ask his questions. His first question was quite a shocking question. Nathan was surprised at him. This intrigued him alot. He began to think about this young reporter's future. But then he remembered he was in an interview.
"Well I guess it was a time for...change." he said with a smile as he folded his hands upon his crossed legs.

James nodded at the answer and wrote down a response. He wasn't doing anything fancy. Just jotting a few notes down here and there. It was his style and he preferred it like that. It helped him write papers and articles. He looked back up at Nathan after he was done.
"Senator Petrelli, what are some of your plans for the economy? Are you planning on free health care? What about citizenship for immigrants?" James asked. These were all important questions that people wanted answers so James was more than happy to get an answer for them.

Nathan gave a little laugh. He should have known that the economy was going to be first. The economy was an issue, Nathan knew this. "Well I do agree the economy does to need to fixed. I believe its terrible how gas prices are raising like a hot air balloon. Its just chaotic this world is. I do plan on fixing this problem and keeping it in check as I am in office. Of course thats if I win the election." he said with a smile. He began to think over the Medical Plan that was apart of his platform.
"As for medical insurance. I plan on limiting it to the richer of the citizens of America. Especially in these economic times like this. Everyone needs every cent they have to live in times like these. But as I already said. I wouldn't plan on the economy being like this much longer. I have already begun as a senator, to help fix this situation." he said as he grabbed his glass of water and took a sip from the rim of the glass.
"Illegal immigrants. I believe we should buckle down and get more strict with this situation. America is getting flooded with way to much immigrants. Illegal for that matter. I don't have anything wrong with immigrants. Thats what made this country what it is today. But like I said we should get more stricter on these illegal immigrants. Stop them, and arrest them if they illegally crossed our boarders." Nathan finished as he answered the last question.

James wrote down want Nathan had said he was going to do about each of the topics at hand. He himself had his own opinions about the issues he asked about. He, like anyone else, was worried about the economy. He hoped that the gas prices would go down and thanked the heavens his job was paying for his travels.
Medical bills were hard and he was thankful Nathan had chosen to not to tax the lower class. If those didn't go down he'd be out of a house within the next few days. Now James didn't like illegal immigrants that much, but he sort of thought Nathan's sentence to arrest them was kinda harsh.
"What about the recent rumors about crime rating increasing the past few months. Do you indent to increase police forces or even the military?" James asked. He felt oddly comfertable enough to lean on the chair with his legs crossed. It was a nice chair.

Nathan waited for the next questioned as James wrought in his journal. Then as James finished, he asked Nathan another question. The question was of course about the recent crime rate increase. Nathan secretly, other than a few others, knew who was behind this. His brother Peter.
"I will increase the police force. And help encourage all to crack down. Catch these criminals who are causing this sudden mass murder chaos. I know people are scared about this group of mass murders. And I will do anything and everything in my power to stop them." Nathan said.

James nodded and resumed his note taking. Well it seemed that things were going to be taken cared off. Nathan had a lot of plans that James was sure a lot people would like. He could tell Nathan wanted to help the country. James finished up his notes before looking back up at Nathan.
"Sounds like a lot of work Senator. Do you have the money and resources to fulfill the tasks you're planning on doing?" James asked. Money was tight these days, especially US money.

He listened to James and began to think of what he should respond with. Coming up with his response, he began. "I believe that I should steal from the people to help the people. So on that note I will be hosting fundraisers through out my term. The income from this and the remaining from my campaign, I will set forth my goals as president. I also want to put a dent into the Government Debt. I think its whats causing this economic recession." he answered. He grabbed a glass of water, as a knock came to the door.
"Yes?" Nathan asked.
"A meeting is about to happen. Sorry for the late notice." the voice said through the door. Nathan set the glass down.
"I guess thats it for today, sorry." he apologized. "I believe you can find your way out." As with that Nathan stood up and left the office, leaving James behind.

James wrote what he could as Nathan felt. Once he found himself alone, he looked around the office. It was nice. He hoped he could get a job like this one day. Sighing, James got up, packed up what he had, and felt the office.
