22rd of December, 2008
It was fairly obvious that Seth's new girlfriend Elle's sister, Riley, did not like him. In fact, she wasn't doing anything to hide that fact. So, Seth was feeling a bit, crazy, when he called Riley, asking to 'get together'.
The reason he did this, was that, for one, he needed a girls opinion on something to get Elle for Christmas. Number 2 being, for Elle's sake, he wanted Riley not to hate him, and wanted to be able to just... well, walk into a room with Elle without getting a dirty look from her.
Seth thought, that, If Riley got to know him, she might not hate him so much. So, he called her to the mall, to try and sort this out. He was glad that she agreed, but he didn't think she sounded to happy about it.
When she arrived, he smiled at her. "Riley, thanks for coming, thanks for helping me out, really, Thanks" He said, trying his best to sound nice.

Riley was surprised when that Seth guy called her. Not only did she not like the guy, she also didn’t like that Elle liked him. That in itself was bad for the guy. When he called her, she felt like refusing, like saying flat out, ‘no, I’m not going.’ But, of course, she had replied yes.
“Elle?” Riley called upstairs to her sister. “I’m gunna go to the mall, okay?”
There was no answer, but Riley hadn’t really expected one. Instead, she just put on a light sweater, pulled on her dilapidated shoes, and walked out the door. The mall that Seth was at was just a few blocks away. Even though she lived so close, this was probably the first time Riley had ever walked to it.
Riley hated malls.
More, probably, than her distaste of mall was her distaste of Seth. But the guy had seemed desperate on the phone, so she had to go—if only to laugh. Plus, she needed to find a Christmas present for Elle. She wondered if her sister had already done the same for her.
When she found him, she frowned. He was forcing it. Why didn’t he just tell her what he needed and get it over with? “Hello, Seth.” Riley said rather bluntly. “Sure, okay, whatever. What do you need?” She asked, first brushing off Seth’s ‘thank you’s and then getting right to the point. But what she had really wanted to say was, ‘Geeze, stop trying so hard to impress me! I’m not going to start liking you in a second!’

When Riley arrived, her obviousness that she didn't like him was still their, and it didn't help that he had welcomed her with such an idiotic line. Well, at least she would know that he is polite. He had forgot to tell her why he needed her in the first place. "Well, I need a Christmas present for your sister, and I have NO idea what to get her?" He said.
"I was kinda hoping you would help me pick something, your the only person I know who could help me with this" He said to her. "Do you mind? You didn't have anything planned, did you?" Ruining Rileys plans with a boyfriend or something, would be the worst way to get her to like him, it would not help at all.

Oh, a Christmas present for Elle, was it? Of course, Christmas was so close that, of course, and more of courses, Seth would want to feel like a man and get her sister a Christmas present. Should she say, ‘the best Christmas present would be if you were to leave?’ That would be a good Christmas present for her, but not for Elle. Besides, it seemed as if Elle actually liked Seth. Riley cringed inwardly at that thought.
“Oh, no, I don’t mind, mister.” Riley said, trying her best to act like a little kid. Was it working? “I had nothing planned. Nothing at all. But now that I’m here, I’d better get Elle a present, too.” She frowned, and thought. What did Elle like? Elle… Elle… she was into clothes, was it? Riley wasn’t, Riley hated clothes. But Elle was different. She liked clothes, and she liked her power. “Umm, clothes, Seth.” Riley remembered the guy’s name, if nothing else. “She likes clothes, but I’m going to get her clothes. You find her something else she likes.” She glared at him, daring him to argue. She was, after all, Elle’s sister. “How about a necklace?” She’d never known Elle to wear necklaces, but there was always a first time for everything.

To his surprise, Riley was actually acting... pleasant. Hell, that was surprising, so Seth smiled at her. When Riley said she better get Elle a gift aswell, it was good, they were both in the market for the same thing. Riley seemed to stop to think, about what to get Elle.
"Clothes, huh? Should I be surprised" He said, but then Riley said she would do that, and he should go with something a little more... expensive, like a necklace. He thought this was a good idea, and decided he could do that. "Ok, I'll head off and have a look, I might need you to help me pick though" He said, having no idea about necklaces.
He smiled and turned around, walking over to the jewelery shop that was not far at all from where they were. As he walked in, it seemed the assistant noticed he had no idea, because she came over and started to help him.
"Christmas present for a girlfriend, yes?" She asked him, smiling. She had him figured out by one look, well, it wasn't that hard, really. "Yeah, I have... no idea" He said, as she walked him over to the first counter. The first thing he saw, was a silver chained necklace, with a small bolt of lightning made out of some kind of blue stone.
"I'll take that one" He said, straight away, pointing at it. "You don't want to look at the other...."She was cut off by him speaking again. "Nope, That one" He said.
5 minutes later, he had it, and walked over to the clothes store Riley was in, to show her. He saw her looking at stuff, and walked straight to her. "How about this?" He said, showing her it, hoping that she would like it, just as much as he hoped Elle would.

Riley realized after she had said it that she had helped Seth out. She grimaced, but he was off. She doubted she would be able to call him back now, not that she wanted to call him back. Good riddance.
Riley humphed and turned on her heel. ‘The guy calls, and then he goes and rushes off on me!’ She thought miserably. “Leave me alone, I’m fine, really!” It was the truth; she was fine. She was almost fifteen, she could fend for herself.
So, the girl walked into the closest clothes store and started searching for clothes. She had just found the perfect shirt when he came back. It was the perfect shirt, all black with a low V-neck. It had a small lightning bolt embroidered close to the collar. It was just like Elle, Riley realized. It only took her a couple of seconds to find Elle’s size. When she turned around, she almost ran smack-dab into Seth. ‘Can he stop following me?’ But she smiled semi-politely at him.
Her smile turned into a frown, “You…” She didn’t know what to say. All she could think was, ‘great minds think alike’ as she stared at what Seth had bought for Elle. But Riley did not like that thought overmuch. “It’s a nice necklace,” she said, and wished it didn’t sound too nice. She showed him her own present, “she could wear them both together.”
Then she frowned again, “But I don’t have enough money to pay for it.”

He looked at what Riley had bought her, as she almost ran into him. He looked at her gift, a kind of black top thing. It had a lightning bolt on it as well, Seth thought straight away 'She can wear them together', unfortunately Riley said it out loud as soon as he thought it.
Riley looked up at Seth as she told him she couldn't afford it. "Its ok, Riley. I'll give you some money for it" He pulled out his wallet, giving her enough for the shirt, and a little extra for herself. It actually felt as if he was bribing her, but it wasn't like he could take the money back now.

Riley glanced down at the shirt. It was very pretty, but cost a medium amount of money. Riley didn’t even have a dollar. She should have thought this out and brought money. But Seth was here. Riley could use Seth’s money, depending.
“Thanks,” Riley said as Seth handed her a small wad of bills. He gave her too much money, which she supposed he’d done on purpose. She considered glaring at him but decided against it. Well, she wouldn’t use the extra money, not at all.
Riley paid for the shirt, and then went back to Seth. Slyly, she said, “I have some extra money. Here, you can have it back.” And she gave the extra money to Seth. She had been sly in doing so, because people usually gave excess money back to their parents, or whoever gave them the money.

Riley took the money, as he had hoped, but by the expression on her face, she had noticed that he had given her more money then needed. She went off and bought the shirt, and came back, going to hand him back the extra money.
"No, don't worry about it. Keep it" He smiled to her. "Do you want to go and get a coffee or something before we leave?" He asked her, remembering that she didn't drink coffee. "Or a Root Beer" He said smiling. "I'll buy, as a thank you for coming and helping me"

Riley gave Seth a glare. Yep, she really hated him. The guy had given her money. Stubborn as she was, though, she could only accept it. Best not make Elle’s younger sister seem too stubborn. Elle actually looked like she loved the guy.
She quirked her eyebrows. “Who told you I liked root beer?” Elle, probably. “Fine, so you give me money and won’t let me pay for my own drink.” Her stubbornness couldn’t be held back for long. She continued to glare at him, but accepted it. “Fine, root beer and a hot dog?”

Riley gave him a look that made him feel slightly uncomfortable, but he left it, and she asked how he knew she liked Root Beer. "The day we met, I asked if you and Elle wanted a drink, you said Root Beer, instead of coffee" He said. "I have a good memory"
Riley seemed annoyed that he wasn't letting her pay for anything, but he thought she secretly liked the idea of spending her money on something else. She wanted a hot dog aswell. Aww well, that didn't bother Seth at all, he had plenty of Money. "Sure thing." He said, smiling at her and walking over, ordering what she wanted, and a hot dog and coke for himself.
"Thanks" He said to the lady who gave the stuff to him, and he walked over to where Riley was sitting, putting the stuff down and giving her hers, sitting down and taking a bite of his own hot dog. Seth hadn't had a hot dog since he was... well, he couldn't remember.

“Great,” Riley said, rolling her eyes, “You have good reflexes and a good memory. What is the world coming to?”
But he was gone; he probably hadn’t heard her say that. Instead of dwelling too much on it, Riley instead found a seat. She grabbed some ketchup and mustard packets and sat down. Then she waited, twirling the bag between her knees. Seth came back with her hot dog, drink, and some food for himself. She took the hot dog and root beer, then smiled a thanks.
Riley opened a ketchup packet, poured the contents of the packet onto her hot dog, and then did the same with a mustard packet. After she took a bite, chewed slowly, and swallowed, she sighed. “Mmm,” she said, “This is good. Thank you. What are you doing after this?”

Seth watched as Riley almost drowned her hot dog in sauce and mustard, in fact, that sight was actually quite funny. He turned and did the same to his own hot dog, but didn't put as much on. He lifted it up, and took a bite, looking up to Riley, who had finished her first bite and asked him what he was doing after woods. "Umm, I have no idea. I might drop past your place and see Elle" He said to her, teasingly.
Seth thought that Riley didn't like him, mainly because her sister was spending alot of her time with him, instead of with Riley, and Riley was getting jealous. That might not be it, but that was just Seths theory. "Why? What are you doing?" He asked her, and decided to go further with it. "Are you catching up with any of your 'guy' friends. I'm sure the guys are always chasing you around, eh? You have to beat them off with a stick?" Seth said. He was patronizing her, he knew that she would hate that.

Riley glared at Seth. Her glares would become quite popular if she continued giving them out. “Oh, sure, rub it in my face that you have more precedence over me when it comes to Elle.” She said, not sarcastically this time. She finished her hot dog, and wiped her mouth with her arm. Very unlady-like.
Then Seth earned another glare, “Who cares what I’m doing afterward? Not you, if you’re going to go see Elle.” She stood, and drank more of her root beer in the process. “If those guy friends include you, then maybe I’d actually like beating them with a stick.” A wicked grin was placed on her face. “However, if they don’t include you, then I’m sorry, they get lollipops and gumdrops and we get to watch Charlie the Unicorn all day.”
Riley opened up her phone and glanced at the time. “Oh, I’m sorry, Seth. I must go, though. Nice talking with you and helping you find the perfect present!” Sarcasm dripped from the first sentence, but she came very happy near the end of the statement. Complete change of personality. “Actually, thank you, too, for the shirt. I’m sure Elle will love both presents!” She picked up the bag, her trash, and her drink, and walked over to the trash can. She dumped the trash and her drink in, and then waved to Seth. How very weird of her to do that. “Bye, Seth. I will see you later, I know that much.” She called, sounding very much more like her normal self, and then she was gone.
Who knew where she was going.
