Gabby smiled when he said she didn't have to repay him or thank him, but to Gabby he had made her life so much easier to live, and that was something for Gabby to be very thankful for. However he said the look in her eyes was enough thanks for him and she just smiled at him. Yes it had been upsetting, but through the upset, she had been able to understand it hadn't been her fault, only the actions of a child.
As she watched Jacob finish the remainder of his tea, she did likewise and smiled at him once more, actually she was finding it now, very difficult to do anything but smile in Jacob's company. He then said that it wasn't over yet. "We're nott?" she asked, wondering how much more he could delve into her past to make her feel better.
Gabby had been speaking to Jacob for an hour, and that surprised her, she hadn't thought they had been speaking for so long, and when he mentioned he was hungry, Gabby realised that she too now was hungry and wondered if it had just been nerves stopping her from being hungry before.
"Yes, it did go by rather fast" Gabby explained and laughed a little, "And you know, I think I might have something to eat after all, if that's okay" she asked softly, giving him a warm smile, and definitely feeling better about things.

"Well that's sorted!" He happy replied, getting himself out of his chair and walking over toward the kitchen off to the other side of the house. He had already made some sandwiches and knew that it was a good time to bring them out. He opened the fridge door and pulled out the platter of small triangle sandwiches and wandered back into the living room where she had remained seated. Sliding it across the coffee table he was just about to sit down, until he forgot something and raced back into the kitchen for two small plates. And then, as he sat down, Jacob placed them next to he platter of triangle sandwiches and piled a few on his before getting comfortable.
"Help yourself," he instructed with a mouthful of egg and lettuce. Brushing his mouth of the crumbs from the bread, he swallowed and cleared his throat. "Ok, so... did you want to continue talking about your past, or should we change the topic?" he asked, even though he wanted to continue diving into her mind - he knew that people had limits. If he was in her situation, he'd have an extraordinary limit about his past, he wouldn't want to talk about it - even though that would be contradictary of how he presented the solution for Gabby.
"... because I'm like, happy to just talk about the weather if you wanted a break from talking. It's not an easy thing to do, talking about something as mentally scarring as your past. Or just, past in general." he corrected himself, shoving the last peice of sandwich into his mouth.

Gabby more or less grinned at Jacob when he seemed pleased she had agreed to eat something, as she watched him get up and go through to his kitchen. He came back a few moments later with a platter of sandwiches and then went back to get a couple of side plates before he sat down and took a few sandwiches himself. She did likewise, giving him a smile. "Thank you" she found herself saying again before she took a bite of one of them.
When he asked if she wanted to continue talking about her past, she found suddenly she really didn't mind either way. Since she no longer blamed herself, it was easier to talk about, even though a break might be good as well. She shrugged a little, but smiled at him, finishing her first sandwich before answering him. "I honestly don't mind either way Jacob, I'm finding it a little easier now to talk about the past, so..." she said trailing off giving him another smile, as she lifted a second sandwich and began to eat, realising how hungry she actually was now.
"These are delicious by the way" she said with a grin, before taking a second bite.
She began to laugh a little, "Well we can talk about the weather as well if you'd like" she said, "But I don't mind talking more about my past, you've helped so much so far, I can't see what harm it would do to be honest" she added with a grin, as she finished her second sandwich, and went for a third one.

Tilting his head to the side he graciously inclined his head, acknowledging that she liked the fingerfood, Jacob liked to think that he was a good host of sorts. He leaned forward and placed his small plate down on the table before settling into his chair and taking her sign that it was ok to talk about her past more, brushing his hands together and letting the tiny crumbs fall into his lap where he brushed them onto the floor.
"Right ok, great." he smiled, happy that she was willing to continue. "So, with your parents absence, what happened to you?" he asked, wondering if she was adopted by some family who couldn't have children, or if she was an orphan... He didn't know of anyone who was adopted, and found it interesting to say the least. "Where did you go?" he asked, interested to hear another part of her story.

He seemed happy that she wanted to continue with their conversation of digging into her mind and her past, and Gabby was only too pleased to do so. If it had been with anybody else she might not have felt so comfortable, but Jacob just had a way of making her feel at ease.
When he asked what happened to her, how had looked after her when her parents were gone, she had a feeling it might have come up into the conversation. Again she had no problem dealing with this. It was probably also another reason why she had always felt so alone and miserable, not having any real family around her when she was younger.
"Well, I was basically brought up by The Company" she began slowly, but finding it easy to talk to him anyway, she smiled and continued, "They were one of the first people on the scene and immediately took me into care"
She stopped for a breath and another bite of her third sandwich before continuing, "I left when I was sixteen befriended someone by the name of Michael Gordon, we got close, and I ended up living with him as a friend, but things got weird when he started going down a path of destruction, so I had to leave and make a life of my own" she continued some more pouring her heart out to him.

"The Company?" he questioned, narrowing his eyes slightly. He hadn't heard of them before, and didn't know what they did. Why did they take her into care when she was orphaned? There were too many questions there he wanted to ask, but right now - he wasn't going to overwhelm her and bombard her with a thousand of them. But then she continued, "Sounds like you've had it rough, I'm very sorry to hear that." There was a tenderness to his voice as she was opening up to him. He appreciated every moment of it, she trusted him - for a stranger.
"So, The Company... what did they do for you?" Jacob asked. Or more, what did they DO to you... he thought as he leaned forward to grab another small triangle sandwich and munched on it for a while contemplating what other questions he could possibly get her to answer.
It wasn't always the best thing to ask questions about someone, especially when the other person wasn't giving away any personal details about himself at all. He had the advantage, his memory would last forever, but her's would fade overtime. Anything she'd say to him, he'd cherish, but she'd forget. The logic in that refrained his mind to say much about himself, not that he had led a very interesting life. Went to school, had many animals as a child, was the book worm at school and was bullied for it - not much excitement as hers had been.
Gabriella was something to be wreckoned with, she just didn't know it yet.

He questioned The Company like she had a feeling he would. However she wasn't sure what to say about it really. They never gave much away in all her time there. All she had known about them were they protected people like herself. People with abilities. They didn't always go about things the right way, but they were the heroes in it all, as opposed to the villains like Pinehearst. A company she nearly almost got herself involved in and changed her mind at the last minute and decided after sixteen years of Primatech to stay away from both of them.
"The Company, goes under the name Primatech, it's run by Angela Petrelli, they what you could say specialise in people like us, people with abilities. Especially people with dangerous abilities, like mine. I suppose they felt they were doing me a favour by bringing me in. Maybe for my protection, I'm not sure" she explained. What did they do for her? She tried to think back.
"Actually they didn't do very much for me at all, other than give me a home and feed me of course" really it was more a case of what they did to her never mind what they did for her she thought to herself. "I was too young at the start to know any different, I mean I had a room, I had clothes and I got fed, back then to a young child that was enough, but now looking back on it, it wasn't much at all, to be honest I didn't like it, and I couldn't wait until I was old enough to leave, I'd say I was probably more a guinea-pig for them, than someone they felt they had to save" she explained, taking in a deep breath and hoping she hadn't bombarded him with too much information in his one simple question.

Jacob narrowed his eyes as she spoke about the company, he hadn't heard of it before and it was interesting to hear what they did and who ran it. That information could come in handy someday, and Jacob knew that. He listened to her. Dangerous abilites, well that would explain why he hadn't heard of that place, perhaps if he was considered dangerous - they would have tracked him down sometime during his life too. He still, remained quiet as she spoke about what they did for her, his hand thoughtfully holding up his chin as he gazed at her.
"A guinea-pig?" He repeated a little shocked at her statement, "That's not fair!" Jacob frowned slightly, he didn't like the sound of this company, especially when they were claiming to do to 'good' things for people with abilities, instead it sounded like a prison. He could feel some sort of tension build up in the back of his neck, how was it that her life had to be so hard and withough help. "So, you basically grew up without a family, or friends?" He asked, moreso just thinking out loud. He took a moment to pause, letting the information sink into his mind, liking his lips as he thought about it.
"Gabriella," Jacob's voice broke the silence in the room. He moved his position in the chair, lowering his hand so his face wasn't covered, and his eyes were directly locked onto hers. "I have a friend, who can... heal." He started, "If you want to forget these memories, I am happy to give him a call for you." Jacob's expression was serious, no smile - only concerned for his new friend. "It would be no trouble at all."

A small silence fell between them after she spoke about the Company, what they did for her, and ultimately what they did to her when she was younger. Whether they were still like that now, Gabby wasn't sure, but she found she didn't really care either. She was just glad to get out there, and probably wouldn't ever find herself back there again.
"Yes, that's right, well it's how I felt I was, injections here, injections there, messing with me to bring my powers out, all sorts of stuff like that" Gabby explained some more sadly. She didn't exactly dwell on it anymore, but talking about it still got her upset from time to time. "And you're right, it wasn't fair, but I was just a young child then, and quite naive" she added. Then he said more of a statement than a question about her growing up without family or friends, which was pretty much what had happened. She nodded her head slowly. "Yes, that's right, which was why I couldn't take it anymore and left when I was sixteen" she said giving him a soft smile.
When Jacob began to talk again about this friend who could help 'heal' her memories, she wasn't sure what to say or do about it. It did sound like a good thing, to not have to think about the past anymore. How much of the memory could it take though? Then again, how many good memories did she actually have anyway? Not many.
"Well, I'm not sure Jacob, but at the same time, it might help" she stumbled over her words. "Actually, yes I'd like that, could you call him please? It might help me have a better life" Gabby replied keeping her eyes locked onto Jacob's as she spoke.

Jacob tilted his head to the other side, if she wasn't totally up for it, he'd understand. Just hearing her um and ahhing about the whole healing, he rested his hand on his chin as he thought about it. Until, she agreed. Jacob smiled lightly, lifting his head back up out of his hand and shuffling himself closer to the edge of his chair, "Are you sure?" he asked, "Because once you heal, you won't have those memories to hurt you anymore..." It was like a surgery. Once something would get removed, there was no way of replacing them. "I believe he said it was like, extracting teeth. Painful, and while it's happening, you remember everything as if it were being thrown on you like water," Jacob explained, tenderness in his eyes and voice as he worried about her, "... and when it's over, you won't have those memories there anymore. Gone, forever."
Jacob, himself hadn't had it done to him, but naturally, he remembered everything about the story which his friend told him about in an email. "So, if you do not want to go through with it, that would be totally understandable."

Gabby had thought it over a few times in her head before coming to the decision that she would like to have the memories removed. It wasn't an easy decision to make but she figured it would be much better to have them removed than quite possibly remember them again every anniversary, even if she did now know she wasn't to be held responsible for the tragic events which took place that day all those years ago.
When he asked once again if she was sure, she smiled, nodding her head, "Yes, I'm sure" but he then went on to explain that it can be a harsh procedure. It did sound rough, but if the end result was going to be no more memories of what happened, it would be something worth while. Possibly a bit like child birth, didn't plenty of women say that it was the worst pain ever, but also the easiest pain to forget and it made it all worth while in the end?
"It doesn't really matter how much it hurts during the process Jacob, so long as it doesn't hurt anymore after, and I believe if it's gone, then it wont hurt anymore" Gabby said softly, with a smile. She was really grateful to him for his help. Until she had met Jacob she wasn't sure if she'd ever have felt anywhere near normal again.
Thinking about it some more, she nodded her head as she gave a final answer to Jacob, "No, I want to get it done" as she said this she gently touched his hand with her own. "Thank you" she said, she was thanking him for everything. His time, his understanding and kind words and most of all she was thanking him for saving her, saving her in ways he probably never even knew.
