Dec. 28
Those were exactly the words that came out of James' mouth. He was tired of his job. Especially when they made him to work on Christmas day. Who works on Christmas, honestly? No one, that's who. But no, the big wigs at his newspaper wanted him to work that day. He was fed up, tired of this, and he didn't give a damn anymore.
In retrospect, it was probably a bad thing seeing as how he no longer had work and now Amanda was probably going to be the only one bringing in money. Although throwing coffee in his ex-boss's face was fun. But now, here he was in a Starbucks, staring at a cup of coffee. Where was he going to get a job to support his brother and him? He could always go and finish collage, but then the topic of money came back.
"What am I going to do?" he asked himself.

Becca walked into Starbucks seeing Becky behind the counter waving at her giving her a nod as if the women could read her mind handing her a soy latté. She sat down at a table that was next to a table with a man talking to himself. He looked confused. Poor guy.
“I know this coffee sucks doesn’t it?”
Becca smiled at the man knowing she was butting in yet to another person’s life. She had that problem a lot lately but after her meeting with Mohinder yesterday she wanted a normal problem to help deal with. Like a stranger would care for in put. Her life had been messed up ever since she got these powers.

James had been too focused on his dilemma. Too focused that he almost didn't hear it when someone told him the coffee sucked. He blinked first when he realized someone had been talking to him. Looking up, he saw a pretty blond with curly hair talking to him. He flashed her a charming smile. "Uh, yeah. It kinda does suck. I mean I've tasted better." he told her.
Although he should be talking since both his brother and cousin have told him his coffee tasted like dirt water. They just couldn't appreciate good coffee. "I'm James. James Ward, nice to meet ya." he introduced himself.

She noticed he was lost in thought so she figured she would just read her email on her cell. Becca smiled at him when he flashed her a charming smile. She nodded when he stated he had better. I think everyone has had better. She stated to herself not wanting to sound too sarcastic.
“Nice to meet you Ja…..James.” She stated as she stuttered out his name which was her fathers which made it ten times as hard. “I’m Becca Walker.”

Beth was sitting down in a corner. It seemed to be where she tended to be a lot of the time now, just waiting for something to happen, or when she was left to watch someone with an ability for the company. She stood up, walking over to toss the paper cup in the bin. It still had a bit of coffee left, but she could never drink the last bit, as if always tasted different.
As she walked towards the bin she tripped suddenly, flinging the coffee cup forwards. Her ability kicked in almost immediately, as she sped forwards catching the cup before it hit into the person in front of her. She looked up, with not enough time to stop herself from hitting into the person, who seemed to be talking about how bad the coffee was.
“I’m so sorry.” She said, blurting it out immediately, as she took a step back.

James noticed the blond stutter. He didn't pay much attention to it. He figured that it was either something personal or she was just nervous. "I know I'm good looking, but I didn't figure girls would stutter over me." James said in a light hearted voice that came when he was being sarcastic. "I'm nice to meet you Becca." he said. He reached out to shake her hand when someone almost stumbled into him.
"Wow, it's ok." he told her with a smile. "Don't worry about it. happens all the time." Least he did get coffee on his lap. Although in this whether that wouldn't be too bad.

Becca smiled at James about to reply about why she stuttered as a girl bumped into him. She smiled at the women. “At least you didn’t spill.” She was about to tell James about his name but figured that would cause pity and she didn’t need any of that. She wiped her mouth tasting more soy than latte. She chuckled a bit seeing that James likes to joke around. “Yeah you know all the girls should bump into him being a good looking guy in all.”
She smiled taking another sip of her coffee now feeling a bit awkward. She had no idea what to talk to strangers about less alone anyone in general. She was alone in a world filled with people.

Beth smiled slightly. Yeah, good thing wasn’t it.” She noticed a closer bin and tossed the cup towards it, making sure it went in. It wasn’t something she should probably be using her power for, since it was just laziness really not walking over, and just throwing it and making sure she was throwing it the right way.
She should probably go off now, but her power told her she should probably stay, “I’m Beth. She said, introducing herself. She had already heard James and Becca say their names, and felt it polite they knew hers.

James smiled at the two ladies. It was good to get to know more people. His work had been keeping him away from actual real people. The only ones he really got to talk to were those he were interviewing. They weren't much on the talking department. Well unless it was about them.
Well there was Elle, but as of lately, things didn't seem to be going well. Ever since they ran into that Gabriel guy, she had been spending less time with him and more time with Gabriel. He didn't know what to thing about it. Were they still a couple or were they off. He sighed in frustration.
His phone rang and he picked it up. "Hello. Yeah Henry what is it? What? I'm in Queens in a Starbucks. Wait what? Why should I what's going on?" His brother had called, talking about some car chase in Queens. Now that he thought about it, he could actually hear some sirens getting louder and louder by the second. It suddenly occurred to him why his brother was calling. Looking up at the window on the other side of the store, he could see a car coming. By now everyone was looking up to see what was going on.
"Get down!" he yelled just as the car came crashing in.

Becca smiled at Beth. “Want to join us Beth. We were talking about how the coffee sucks.” She waited till James got off the phone hoping he would have some idea of what they could talk about. She heard him scream as the car crashed into the building.
She saw a woman and her baby daughter right in the way of the car. No. Not another family. She places her right hand on the ground closing her eyes making the ground shake as if a Earth quake came. The car’s tires screeched to a haul inches from the woman and her child.
She opened her eyes sighing as she saw the robbers get out of the car. “Oh my God.”

Beth turned around, as the car approached, her ability had been right. She looked around at the other two, as she noticed something happening as the car stopped. There was someone else here with some form of ability, something that made earthquakes or something, she couldn’t completely tell, but had a small amount of training on recognising anything like it.
She looked towards the robbers, she could feel she had to be ready, and really soon as well. She then knew why, at least one of the robbers was carrying a gun of some form.

James felt like he had to stop hanging out at Starbucks. This was the second robbery in a Starbucks that he's been in. It was either his bad luck or New York Starbucks were all cursed to get robbed. And yet people still keep coming here. Well at least he knew why his brother wanted him out of there.
He counted the number of robbers that had just stepped out of the car. There looked to be about four of them in total. One of them had an semi-automatic with them. He paled at the sight. Oh this was not good. Not good at all. He really couldn't do anything at the moment. His shadow was too small to stretch out towards them. If he could get some more light to make it bigger than maybe he could get the guy with the gun.
"Everybody down!" the guy with the gun ordered. James scrunched his face slightly. "Everybody get down!" the guy said, firing a few rounds into the air.
"Shit." James cursed. This was the same guy Elle and him had met the first time a Starbucks was robbed.

Becca got down on the ground placing her hand on the ground knowing if she did use her power it would cause more trouble for the people here. What am I going to do? “My sister.” Becca muttered to herself thinking of her sister. She would never remember me.
She looked at James and Beth wondering if they had a plan. She noticed James seem worried more then anyone. Oh my god. I talked to the guy in charge of this! She bit her lip not sure what to do.

Beth moved quickly, and on instinct. “No time to explain.” She said, turning to James and Becca, a pinkish blur outlining her as she began to run. On her own she couldn’t take on any of them, but she could definitely move fast enough to find someone.
But she couldn’t go and just leave these people on their own, even if she was fast, if anyone else tried anything it could be a disaster. She had to stay, and wait, make sure nothing was going to try anything to stop them, in her mind it was just safer to go alone with what they wanted.

James looked between the apparent hostages and the bank robbers. How could this happen twice in one year? Was he jinxed or something or was it just bad luck. He really needed to find a new place to get coffee.
"Everyone down now!" the machine gun wielding robber order. "I am not going back to jail, now get down!" he said before firing a round just to prove he was serious. James covered his head with his arms and looked around to some light. He didn't like how the situation was going. His shadow wouldn't be able to go very far enough to reach any of them. He leaned over to Becca and whispered.
"This might sound a little weird, but do you happen to see a spot where there's a large amount of shadowing?" he asked.
