Riley and Sylar have known one another since the two met at Claire Bennet's first wedding in November. The two have had an odd relationship ever since that fateful day. Though many would never think that a cold man like Sylar would never feel close to anyone, Sylar has deemed the two as brother and sister. Though the two are very close, many people are waiting for the day that Sylar will kill the girl and take her power.
He does just that after he finds her.
Riley disappeared after January 15, 2009. She could not be found, and on January 17, Sylar decided to take matters into his own hands. However, when he finds his 'sister' only a day later, he finds that Riley, after being kidnapped, killed her kidnapper. The only reason why she could not have left the cell that she had been placed into was because she had been locked in. He saves her, and in the process absorbs her ability unknowingly using his empathetic mimicry ability.
