Marcus couldn't believe what had happened. One minute he was standing there in happiness at finally finding his sister, the next minute he was on his knees tearing his hair out in a lot of pain and sadness over her badly injured body. Her pulse was weak, but she had one, and all he could think of was that was a good sign. If he had been fast enough he could have got between her and the car and saved her from being hurt the way she had, but there was just no way he'd have got there in enough time, the car was going at break necking speed.
As the blond guy crouched over Emma's body and Marcus saw the pain in the guys eyes, Marcus felt even worse than he already did. It was fairly obvious the guy was terribly upset at what had just happened to his girlfriend, well, Marcus had to assume it was his girlfriend, she was too young to be his wife, although she may have been his fiancé. Marcus shook his head from all the thoughts running around and once again could only mutter an apology to the guy. "Again, I'm really sorry man, I hadn't expected this to happen." Marcus himself was now in tears. His beautiful sister was cut up pretty badly and there was nothing he could do about it.
As the blond guy confronted the driver, and Marcus heard the driver say there was nothing he could do, Marcus scrambled up off the ground, and pushed the driver up against his car. "Ye could have done plenty, ye shouldn't have been driving so focking fast in the first place, ye were definitely speeding and no denying the fact." Marcus yelled at the guy, but then he heard the sirens, and he immediately backed off of him. He didn't want to get himself in trouble for attacking the driver.
Marcus stood waiting for the driver's response to the policeman's question about speeding. When he said he hadn't been, Marcus scoffed, "Like hell you weren't." He yelled, as the policeman turned to face Marcus, "Try to keep calm sir, we'll deal with this." Marcus put up his hands, and nodded his head, "I'm just angry is all, she's me sister man." Marcus said as he wiped away the tears from his eyes, and stood between the driver and Emma's body, while he watched the paramedics attend to his sister.
What happened next however, or at least what Marcus heard next, was enough to send him into a rage. He had known the guy was driving way too fast, but he certainly hadn't known he had been drinking. Sure Marcus liked a good drink himself, but he never, ever drove when he had been drinking, no matter how little he had. That was the final straw, before the policeman had a chance to handcuff the guy, Marcus threw himself at the driver.
"Ye God damned piece of filthy scum, ye could have killed her, ye better bloody hope and pray she pulls through this ye hear, if not I'll pay for am sure, as I'll make sure you don't have a loife to speak of." Marcus yelled, but the policeman gently pulled Marcus off of the driver.
"I understand you're upset sir, but this will not do anybody any good, we'll take care of him, he wont get away with this, that you can be assure. Go look after your sister." The policeman said, as he bundled the driver into the police car, hit the sirens and then opened the window and shouted out to Marcus. "We'll get statements from you and your friend at the hospital." With that he drove off, leaving Marcus alone with Emma and Jackson and the paramedics who were doing their best they could to make Emma more comfortable.
