Jack sat at the outdoor coffee shop table, his long legs stretched out, an iced mocha on the table next to his open notebook. Apollo wasn't with him, for once, Jack had left him at home today, and there were surprisingly few customers at the coffee shop today. Jack preferred writing by hand when he sat outside to work, partially because the sun made it harder to see his laptop screen and partially because his thoughts flowed better on paper. He would type it up later.
Jack sat, absently flicking his pen against his teeth, trying to write, but he could stop thinking about the conversation he'd had in the bookstore a couple months ago. By now he had read the book by Dr. Suresh many times, and had kept trying to find more material about evolved humans, but he had found absolutely nothing about Primatech, the company Becca had told him about.
He had no idea that he would soon find out more about Primatech than he ever wanted to know...

It had been awhile since Noah had checked up on anything to do with Becca Walker and Evan Anders little trying to take them down plot. He had watched his back logs of Becca wondering what she had planned and found her talking with a writer Jack Delaney where she had given him a old contact card of theirs. He knew something was up once he saw Jack buy the book as they followed him as well. So he sat here across the little outside tables the coffee house had.
He ordered a frap of some sorts which he recalled Sandra love. He really wanted some gin right now but he was on the clock and he needed to get this Jack guy with him so they could find out what he knew about the little plot. Noah looked over at the man studying his gestures wondering what would be the easiest way to get him to go with him.
Getting up he walked over to the man’s table sitting down smiling at him. “Aren’t you Jack Delaney? The author?” He questions not waiting for an answer. “My name’s Daniel Bennet I work for Harper and Sons publication. Is there any way I could get you to sign a deal with us?” This was easy talk business which would lead to a celebration and a kidnapping.

Jack glanced up as he heard a man approach and greet him. "Yeah, I'm Jack Delaney," he confirmed, setting down his pen and reaching across the table to shake the man's hand as he sat down. Jack had mostly gotten used to people recognizing him in public places, but it was still slightly weird sometimes, having complete strangers know his name and information about him.
Oh. Another publisher. Jack mentally rolled his eyes; he had gotten several offers recently, but he had no desire to leave the current publication office that he was currently with. However, he always gave time to people giving him offers, just to be respectful. Jack offered a polite smile. "I'm open to talking about it. What do you have to say?"

Noah shook Jack’s hand as he sat down. He was in. It was like he was Jack Bauer from that tv show Lyle watched, he got in with the enemy and without him knowing about it. He looked up at Jack when he questioned what his company could do for him. “Well we love your work and think it can go into markets that no one thought of.” He knew how to work his way into taking crap that came out of his mouth and make it sound great. “Movies to video games the market for your type of books are endless.”
He took out a fake card that he grabbed before he left the office already knowing his plan of play before he got there really came in handy. “We are willing to give you this amount.” He turned over the business card writing one million on the back before he handed it to Jack. “Per month.”

Jack made an effort to listen to what the man was saying, trying to get past the obvious ass-kissing about "we love your work" and all that. But then he heard the man say something about the movies and the video games. Jack was surprised. That would be amazing. None of his books had ever been made into a movie; that was something that he had only dreamed about.
He looked at the card that Bennet pushed across the table, his eyes growing wide at the figure written on the back of the card. "Per month?" He let out a low whistle. Sure, he liked the publishing company that he was with right now, but this was a whole different ballgame. "I could be interested," he said, slowly nodding. "Keep talking."

Noah’s eyes grew wide when Jack said he was interested, well “could be” but still in layman’s terms he knew that meant the man wanted this badly. “Well like I said the company I work for want to branch out your books into all media based projects. I even heard that they wanted to do a rpg game on it.” He had no clue what else to say to get this man walking right into the lions den but that wasn’t going to stop him from getting his target.
“I’m just the messenger.” He put his hands on the table leaning in a bit. “My boss would love to discuss this more with you at her office.” Sure the company knew that this man had been in contact with Becca who was trying to take the company down and they really wanted to know what Jack had to do about it plus if he knew nothing he could always make a good agent or spy. He traveled the world and could call them if he met anymore people like him. “I could arrange a meeting for anytime even today if you like.”
(OOC: so sorry but I been sick and I totally understand if you are over this thread. If that’s the case just pm my Becca account and I’ll move the thread again so sorry.)

Jack had to admit it. He was officially impressed. He let out another low whistle. RPG games? Movies? It all sounded almost too good to be true. He was almost afraid to believe the guy, almost afraid it was someone playing a prank on him, but he figured there was no harm in finding out more information about this book deal.
"I think I am interested, yeah," he confirmed to the man, Bennet, nodding his head. "Today would be great, actually," he said, shrugging. "I'm available right now, as a matter of fact. Whenever would be a good time."

Bennet smiled when Jack said right now would even work. “Very well. Please excuse me for a moment so I can call my boss to let her know.” He got up and walked not very far away taking out his cell phone dialing a number. As he got the man in the van that would be following them to the company. “Its Bennet. Jack’s in. We are heading there now.”
He walked back over to the table so Jack could get the end of the conversation. “Ok we will see you in a few. Bye.” he hung up looking at Jack. “My boss is delighted to meet you so soon. If you want we can take my car to the office and we will drop you off back here after the meeting.” If the man said no he would just have to have the van come now and throw him into it.

Jack nodded when Bennet excused himself to go speak with his boss about arranging a meeting. As he watched the man from a distance, he absently tapped his pen against the table, finishing the last of his mocha and running through plot ideas in his head. He was having a bit of writers' block - not coming up with ideas, that wasn't a problem. He had lots of ideas in his head, but he was having issues getting them into words right now. Oh well. Maybe a talk with a new publisher would help.
Bennet came back over to the table and Jack heard the end of the conversation. He nodded at Bennet's offer. "Sure, yeah. Sounds good." He tucked his notebook and pen into his messenger bag, swinging his bag over his shoulder and following the man.

(OOC: I was thinking when they arrive at the company’s building maybe Jack can get suspicious or something and then Noah could drug him so the thread could end? I really need to get my older threads done with school going up so soon.)
Noah smiled as they made their way to his car, a Chevy. He looked over at Jack as they got into the car. “So my boss really enjoys reading your work. I just know she will have a million questions so please you can stop her anytime.” He started the engine driving off to the Company’s building which would take them about ten minutes to get to. "Do you have any questions before we get there?"

Jack followed Bennet to his car and got in, nodding as Bennet continued to talk to him about his books and this and that. The conversation continued for some time, and finally Bennet asked him if he had any questions. As the car ride had gone on, Jack had started to get kind of a weird feeling from the man.
He wasn't sure what it was, but what the guy was saying almost seemed scripted, memorized - like he had something else that he really needed Jack for.
When he was asked if he had questions, Jack turned to him and asked a question compulsively. "Is this really a book publishing company?"
