Jonathan listened to Katie, as she said maybe, and then who would have her. He wondered if he should say what he was feeling, but he decided to let it go. To Jonathan, he would sound too forward, and that just wasn't him. "Well, one day, you might be surprised. You might just run into the guy of your dreams, and he will sweep you up off your feet." Then a few moments later, he literally swept her up off her feet as she began to fall as she fainted.
When she had come around, she was looking at him, and in turn Jonathan looked at her, with a small smile, and a look of worry. He hoped that what he had said hadn't been too much, but he knew that from what he had heard and seen from Katie, that she was someone to be friends with, or even have some sort of relationship with. To Jonathan, if he was ever to have a thing with Katie, he would be sure to protect her, and her baby.
The sound of Katie's laugh was so nice to hear, after she was looking and sounding so down on herself before. He hated seeing females sad. All they ever needed was some loving from a guy who could treat them right, and Jonathan was that kind of guy. "Well that's great. I hope that you do. You deserve happiness, after what you have been through." When she had added that it seemed that he liked her laughter, he smiled warmly. "Well, I do. And hope to hear more of it." For some reason that sounded forward, but he didn't care.
Jonathan saw that blush of hers, but didn't play on it. He wasn't one to really embarrass a girl, but maybe their conversation about laughing and how he had seemed to like it might have struck a cord. Katie then lifted a hand, and placed it on his face gently. This got his attention, and kept his eye contact with Katie. He listened to what she said, telling him thank you, and that she was feeling good now. Then she said that she wasn't sure she wanted to leave right now, or leave him right now. Then she blushed.
Jonathan didn't know where to look. What was he to say to that? He had offered to take her home, but now she had said that she didn't want to leave him. His eyes looked out at the shops, trying to rake his brain for an answer to her question. What to say, what to say. Then Jonathan finally looked at Katie. "Well, if you don't want to leave right now. Maybe we could do something. Have you eaten?" Jonathan knew a little about pregnancy to know that women should eat, to keep their energy up. So he hoped that she might like to go and catch a bit with him.

After Katie had more or less asked Jonathan who would have her, he replied with the sweetest thing ever, saying one day she might be surprised and run into the guy of her dreams who will sweep her off her feet. She felt herself blush a little, and she wasn't sure what to say to him. Seconds later she eventually came up with something, "Maybe, who knows, guess time will tell right?" Then she felt herself fainting, and of course came round to be lying in Jonathan's arms who had walked her to a bench.
The words he had said before she fainted, came streaming back through her mind, and she wondered if he had been talking about himself when he'd said them, or if the fact she had fainted and he had caught her was purely coincidental. Not having the highest opinion of herself, she went for the latter, it was purely coincidental. However, as she looked up at him, she couldn't help feeling there was some sort of spark between them, or was that just because she was feeling giddy at the fact he had caught her in his strong arms?
Katie smiled, when Jonathan said that she deserved happiness after what she had been through. She couldn't deny that was true, what with Josh dying and then the whole going down the wrong path leading her to meet Jake and now here she was pregnant, and lying in pretty much a stranger's arms, wondering if he might be the one. She gave him a warm smile. "Thanks Jonathan, something has to start going right for me soon." When she had commented about his liking her laugh, she felt herself blush again slightly when he replied saying he did like it and hoped to hear more of it.
To Katie, that sounded like he might want to see her again, but she didn't want to read too much into it too soon, because she had made plenty of mistakes in the past, and she didn't want to make another one. "Well, maybe you will hear more of it." She laughed again then, just for the sake of letting him hear it again, plus the whole Jake-itis thing was still making her giggle slightly. It really did feel good to be able to laugh while saying or thinking of his name.
When Katie had then placed her hand on his face, she saw him keep eye contact with her, and as she looked into those eyes, she could see a really good guy in them, someone who could really care about her, and maybe even love her. Although, she did try to shake those thoughts from her head, not wanting to think like that quite so soon. But she couldn't stop herself from saying she didn't want to leave at that moment, nor leave him, when he'd suggested walking her home to rest.
The soon as she'd said those words however, she began to regret them, what if she'd been too forward and he didn't like that? Especially when it looked like she'd made him a little uncomfortable, so deep within, she felt really silly. After a few seconds silence, which to Katie felt like a life time and she had just wanted to get up and run away for making a fool of herself, he spoke. He said if she didn't want to leave right away that maybe they could do something, and then asked if she'd eaten. She shook her head then, Katie still hadn't really been looking after herself that well.
She looked up at him then, "To be honest, no, I've not really been looking after myself that well, what with everything. Promised my brother I'd start behaving, but, it's just not been that easy, and so I've neglected myself a little, and it probably could explain the earlier fainting session." She was being blatantly honest with Jonathan, after all, what harm could it do? He seemed nice enough, he'd been her knight in shining armour twice, she may as well be honest with him.
"So, something to eat might be good," because just at the mention of food, she heard her stomach begin to rumble, and she actually felt hungry, something she hadn't really felt properly since she'd found out about the pregnancy.

Jonathan nodded, when Katie had said that something had to start going right for her soon. After hearing all that she had been through, up to this moment, he couldn't believe that one girl could go through so much at such a young age. And for her to meet such a creep like Jake, when she was vulnerable, and still hurt probably. When Katie had commented about him liking her laugh, he saw her blush when he had replied to that, saying that he did like it and hoped to see it again. Well, maybe she was liking him, if she was doing that. But really Jonathan couldn't really tell, he wasn't psychic.
He quite liked her reply to what he said, giving her a warm smile. "I hope so," joining in a little with her laughter, loving it all over again. She seemed to be a bit more happier than she had been earlier on, when she was telling him her story of everything that had happened before they met. He was finally seeing a more happier Katie, that was for sure.
Jonathan waited to hear what Katie's response might be, when he had asked that if she didn't want to leave, that they could do something, asking her if she wanted to grab a bite to eat. Katie then said that she hadn't eaten, and that she had promised her brother that she would start behaving herself, but it hadn't been that easy. Jonathan nodded, when Katie said that that could explain the earlier fainting session. "Maybe. But I don't know much in the way of woman being pregnant. It could have been anything."
The next thing that Katie said was what he had hoped that she would say. "Great." Jonathan slowly moved Katie to sit next to him on the bench. "I have no idea what you might eat, but I eat mostly anything. So whatever you are up for, I will also go for." He always made sure that the woman he was seeing would choose where they ate. He didn't mind, knowing that he would always find one thing to eat on the menu.

Katie smiled when Jonathan said he hoped to hear more of her laugh. Inside she felt that was a good thing, if he wanted to hear more of her laugh, then maybe he did want to see more of her, and that was definitely a good sign. After she had laughed again, Jonathan laughed with her, which she liked, and made her smile all the more.
When Jonathan asked if she had eaten yet, and she had said no, putting the lack of food down to her fainting session earlier, Jonathan had said maybe, but he didn't know much about pregnant women and that it could have been anything. What Jonathan said was also true, it could have been anything, but Katie was now putting it down to the lack of food, since just the mention of it now, was making her stomach continue to rumble rather loud.
"I suppose it could be anything, maybe I should go to the doctors, just in case, could be an iron deficiency, anything, like you say." She hadn't had to take iron tablets during her pregnancy yet, but then she was only eight weeks pregnant, maybe there was time enough yet for lack of iron to be a problem. It was all these things she was going to have to face by herself, and it was upsetting for Katie when she thought about it. Sure, she had William's support, but he was her brother, she couldn't get the sort of love and affection and support from her brother, she could get from a loving partner.
Well nothing could be done about that, she made the mistake, and she was going to have to live with it. Her hand then instinctively went across her stomach then, maybe the life growing within her, was caused by a mistake, but the baby was a part of her now, and she could no longer refer to the baby as a mistake, after all, it wasn't the baby's fault he or she was conceived that night.
After Katie agreed something to eat would be good, she heard Jonathan say great, and then move her into a seating position on the bench beside him. He then spoke about not knowing what kind of food she liked to eat, but he basically ate anything. Which was good, because other than a dislike to vegetables other than potatoes and carrots, Katie pretty much ate anything as well. However, the more her stomach rumbled, the more she felt in the need for pizza. Something she hadn't had in a long time, and the idea of chicken and ham together, was sounding very appealing to her.
"Well, I don't care much for vegetables other than potatoes and carrots, but right now, I feel in the mood for pizza, so I gather that will suit you? I'm certain there's a pizza parlour not too far away from here." Katie then gave Jonathan an even brighter smile than she had given him since they had begun to talk.

Jonathan listened to what Katie said, giving another suggestion as to what mght have caused the fainting only moments ago. He wasn't sure, but nodded slightly. "Maybe. But it might be good to get it all checked out. Maybe your brother could take you?" She had mentioned a brother before, so hoped that he was supportive, and could take her. Jonathan was only getting to know Katie, so it would have been too forward for him to suggest he take her. She didn't really know him that well.
He noticed Katie place a hand on her stomach, and wondered what she was thinking. In order to take her mind off whatever it was, he asked. "How far along are you now Katie, if I may ask?" He could tell that she wasn't showing yet, but that didn't matter. He had heard that some women don't show until maybe they are four or five months, and others show a little earlier. Jonathan hoped that he wasn't getting out of line.
Jonathan waited for Katie to reply to what she would like to eat. He had to smile when she commented about vegetables. He personally loved most vegetables, but did like potato himself. "Well, we have something in common then. I love potato, and especially the mashed kind, with lots of butter." When Katie said that she was in the mood for pizza, with a bright smile. "Pizza suits me fine. As long as they maker a killer bbq meat lovers pizza, I will be in heaven." He loved that type, and always will.
He got up, and picked up the bags that Katie had been carrying earlier. "Let's go then." He waited for Katie, and then started walking, hoping to see the pizza parlor soon.

When Katie had mentioned the possibility of suffering iron deficiency, Jonathan nodded slightly, saying maybe, but she should get it checked out, mentioning her brother could take her. Katie nodded her head then, "Yeah, I'll have to speak to him, right now, he's about the only one whose really there for me, he'd be gutted if I didn't tell him about this today." She was of course referring to the fainting session she had, not the fact she'd met a handsome stranger who had come to her rescue twice.
When Katie was holding her stomach, she heard Jonathan ask her how far on she was, if she didn't mind him asking. She smiled at him, shaking her head, "I don't mind telling you. I'm just over eight weeks pregnant, just went for my first scan the other day with my younger brother." Yeah, it was sad, when she thought about it, most pregnant women had loving partners to take them to these things, she had to depend on her brothers. Mind you, she'd be lost without them, so, it really wasn't such a bad thing.
When the conversation had went into food, and Katie had explained about not caring for vegetables other than potato and carrots, but felt in the mood for pizza. Jonathan had said they had something in common, as he loved potato, especially the mashed kind with lots of butter. Katie grinned at him, "Yeah, that sounds pretty cool. Just hope I'll be able to eat it when I want, and not start to have all these silly food fads, where you go off what you love, and start to eat what you hate." She shook her head then, it was so weird how pregnancy could do that to a woman.
Jonathan said pizza suited him fine, and mentioned something about a BBQ meat lovers pizza. Katie grinned, "I'm pretty sure you'll get that." She had pizza from this place a few times she was mentioning, and she was certain she'd seen that on their menu, however, Katie was only in the mood for a good old margherita pizza.
She then watched, as he stood up, picking up her bags she had been carrying earlier and said 'let's go'. She smiled brightly at him then, "Alright, and thank you, for taking my bags." She could probably have taken them herself, but she was still feeling a little light headed, and probably would until she had eaten. Five minutes of walking and Katie, saw the place she was looking for. Pointing it out, "It's over there." A restaurant sized building, because it did both dining in and take away, and there was a bright neon sign with the name 'Coia's Pizzeria'.
It had only been a short time since Katie had met Jonathan, knowing almost from the moment she'd met him he was a nice guy, but after lying in his arms, she thought he was more than just a nice guy and now she was hoping they might become just a little more than good friends.
