When Hailey shrugged her shoulders and said he was probably right, he just gave her a warm smile. He really wasn't sure if he was right or not, so long as it made Hailey feel a little more comfortable. Nick did begin to wonder if they might be best to go out, where they could be alone, but he wanted to have at least once dance with Hailey, since that was the purpose of coming to the school dance in the first place.
When Nick had said he was enjoying himself because he was with Hailey and then touched the end of her nose with his finger, he saw her blush and grin, he loved that smile of hers. Nick however, didn't play on the blush, he wasn't like that, besides, he could blush himself easily enough. The longer they slow danced together, the more Nick was enjoying it, yes, this night was just what he needed to confirm what he had been wondering for the past couple of weeks. He loved his best friend, well, being a best friend, he loved her anyway, but this was more. He was scared though, what if she didn't feel the same way? Was it worth possibly ruining the friendship they had, to pursue more with her?
He figured he would wait until a little later in the night before making a decision. When the song was over, Nick felt Hailey raise her head, which prompted him to do the same thing, and he looked at her and smiled warmly at her. When Hailey spoke and said it was nice, and that she hadn't danced many slow dances, but it was nice to share that one with him, he smiled broadly at her, "I'll let you into a secret, you're the first person I've slow danced with." He still had his arms around her waist, and then he added, "And I enjoyed it very much." With that, he leaned in to kiss her cheek, well, one step in the right direction.
He then watched as the dance floor got more crowded, and then Hailey said she might need a drink and some fresh air. He smiled at her, removing his arms from around her waist, and then took her hand in one of his own. "Sure, come on then." He then walked her over to where they got their drinks earlier and poured out another two glasses, and then handed her one with a smile. He then looked to the entrance, "Ready to go out for a bit of fresh air now?" In a way he really hoped she was ready, as they would hopefully then be on their own. It might be a good chance to tell her how he was feeling about her, and then hope and pray not to lose her friendship if it wasn't what she wanted to hear.

After Haylie had said that she hadn't danced many slow dances, Nick said that he would let her in on a secret. She listened as he said that she was the first person he has slow danced with. Hailey blushed a bit, hoping that she did okay, what with it being his first time and all. "Well I hope that I didnt'let you down. I didn't know that I was dancing with a first timer." When Nick said that he enjoyed the dance very much, that was a good enough answer for her.
The next thing that Nick did was nice, but very unexpected. He lent in and kissed her on the cheek. Hailey closed her eyes, taking his lips on her skin. She hadn't had much experience, or actually none at all, in the relationship department. But she secretly hoped that those lips would eventually reach her own. After Nick kissed her on the cheek, Hailey smiled at Nick, not knowing what to say.
When Hailey had said that she might need a drink and some fresh air, Nick agreed. His arms moved him her waist, and his hand took one of her own. He led her over to the table where the drinks were. She watched as he poured out two glasses of punch for each of them, handing one to her. "Thanks," Hailey said, as she returned his smile, with a weak one. Now she was wondering now what might happen now, once they were outside. Would they talk about school stuff, the dance, or maybe about the two of them, in a relationship fuelled chat. Who know, only time would tell, and Hailey hoped that they had enough of that to have a serious chat, if it came to that last point.
Hailey nodded, "Yes. Fresh air would be good." So Hailey walked out with Nick, feeling her heart beating a bit faster now. Soon enough, they were out in the front of the school. There were a couple of students outside. Hailey glanced over to the large tree outside, and saw a couple kissing. She instantly looked away. Would Nick and herself be doing that later. By the looks of that couple, they were really getting into it. Would Hailey be like that? Being all over Nick? She hoped that she would have more self control than that. She brought up better than that, she though.
Hailey noticed a spare seat under another tree. "Why don't we go over there and sit down." She waited for Nick to reply, sipping on her drink. She looked up at the sky, and saw that the stairs were really out in the skin tonight. The sky just looked like jewels sparkling down on them.

After Nick had told Hailey the slow dance they shared was his first, he saw her blush a little. He just kept smiling at her. Hailey then said she hoped she hadn't let him down, and that she didn't know she was dancing with a first timer. Nick, just smiled brightly at her, shaking his head, "No, not at all." He had then of course said he had enjoyed the dance very much. He had then leaned in to kiss her on the cheek, he had so wanted to kiss her on the lips, but thought better of it. He wondered how Hailey would react to what he had done. But she didn't actually say anything at all, but she did smile at him. He loved Hailey's smile.
When Hailey had spoke about having a drink and some air, Nick had taken her hand took her to where the punch was and poured them out a glass each, handing one to Hailey. She thanked him, and gave him a weak smile. "You're welcome Hailey." Nick had taken a sip of his drink and soon after Nick asked if she wanted to go out and get some fresh air. He smiled, when she nodded saying that fresh air would be good.
"Alright then. Let's go." He said, as he held his hand out for her to take and then made their way outside. The couple kissing by one of the trees didn't go unnoticed by Nick, and like Hailey, he turned away from them rather quickly. He did wonder if that might be them soon enough, but by what he saw, they seemed to be pretty into it, and Nick wasn't sure if he could be like that, besides he had to make sure Hailey was comfortable with anything which may or may not happen. First and foremost she was his friend, and he really didn't want anything to ruin that.
Then Hailey suggested sitting down at a spare seat under one of the other trees. He looked at her and smiled, "Sure, why not then." So Nick began to lead them over to the seat, and waited for Hailey to sit down before he took a seat himself. He then wondered if he should tell Hailey how he was feeling. After a few seconds thinking, he decided he really didn't have anything to lose, did he? "Hailey, there's something I think I should tell you, but.." He trailed off, taking another deep breath, chewing on the inside of his cheek for a second, "But, I'm not sure how to say it." He looked at her giving her a warm smile, before looking at his feet, he was desperate to just blurt it out, but he didn't want to waste the moment, or the night, so left it at that, to see what Hailey would say, and to see if she gave any facial expressions away.

Haylie had taken Nick's hand, as they headed outside for fresh air. Inside was nice, but majority of the students were inside, and she needed to get away from them all looking at her. She knew she shouldn't be worried, but still, it was niggling at the back of her mind. But once they were outside, she felt a bit better. There was hardly anyone outside, and that was probably a good thing for Hailey.
Once they had sat on the seat under the other tree, Hailey didn't know where to look. Really, she shouldn't be nervous. She was with her best friend, who seemed to know her more than anyone had. Hailey was trying to think of something to say to Nick, when he spoke instead. She looked at him, as he said that there was something that he should tell her, but he wasn't sure how to say it.
She did feel that he was unsure, and Hailey hoped that he would open up to her. She had seen that warm smile of his, then he looked down at his feet. Hailey looked at Nick, with his head down. What could she do or say to reassure him. So Hailey touched one of his hands, and then said softly, "Nick, you can tell me anything. I promise that I won't laugh at whatever you want to tell me." She never had, and never would. Hailey waited to see what he would say to her, that seemed quite important.

It did feel good to be outside Nick realised, it was less crowded for one, and it felt nice and cool outside, without being too cold naturally. It had just been so hot in the hall, and crowded, which was only to be expected, it was a dance for the students of the school. Once they were sat on the bench under the tree, and realising how alone they were at that point, and how close he was to Hailey, he had wanted to tell her how he was feeling.
When he'd told her he had to tell her something, but didn't know how to say it. He then felt Hailey touch his hand and he looked up then, and gave her a weak smile, just before she spoke. She said he could tell her anything, and she wouldn't laugh at what he had to say. He already knew that, she'd never laughed at anything he'd said, unless it was funny naturally. But this was different, this was, or could turn their friendship into something more. He was worried Hailey wouldn't feel the same way.
He took in a deep breath, "I know you wouldn't laugh Hailey, it's just..." He trailed off, he knew he couldn't hold it back any longer, she had a right to know how he felt. He had held off his true feelings for a couple weeks now. He then took one of her hands in his own. "I think..." He swallowed, "No, I don't think, I know, I'm feeling something for you which is more than just friendship Hailey, I've known for a week or so now, but I didn't want to say anything for fear of ruining our friendship, but you should know that's how I feel." He took his eyes off her face again, and looked back down at his feet, because he felt if he kept looking at her, he'd want to kiss her, and he didn't want to push things, telling her how he felt was probably enough for now.

Hailey saw Nick give her a weak smile, when she touched his hand, trying to help him tell her whatever he wanted to tell her. Hailey knew that she had been thinking about her feelings for him all the time that they had been together tonight. She had hoped that she would have a chat to him about that, after he spoke about whatever he wanted to say to her.
Nick then said to her that he knew that she wouldn't laugh, and then trailed off. Just when Hailey thought she would have to do more to get him to talk, Nick finally did. He took her hand then, and Hailey felt her breath catch in her throat, as he told her that he had been feeling something for her, and it was more than just friendship. This is all she had heard, feeling her ears begin to block slightly. She could see his lips moving, but that was all.
As Nick looked away, and down at his feet again, Hailey felt her mouth was open slightly, and then all she got out, before she fainted was, "Oh Nick." Then Hailey moved slightly on the seat, and then fainted, hitting the ground. She had never done this before, never in her whole life. Maybe it was the dance, and how close they had gotten. Maybe it was what Nick said, or the fact that she had been thinking about him, as more than a friend. But whatever it was, she had fainted.

Nick didn't know why he felt so nervous to tell Hailey how he felt, well actually he did know why, he was scared he was going to ruin a perfectly good friendship if she didn't feel the same way. But with everything that had happened between them that night so far, he didn't think it would ruin their friendship. So, after he told her how he was feeling, he had looked away from her, and wondered what she would say when she did finally begin to talk.
He then heard just two words, 'Oh Nick', was that a good or a bad 'Oh Nick', he couldn't tell, but just then he heard a thump as he turned quickly to see Hailey on the ground. Having looked away from her to get her answer, he wasn't aware she had been falling, or he'd have been able to catch her. He immediately bent down, and gently picked her up into his arms and sat her on the bench, resting her head on his lap as he just kept looking down at her and running his hand through her hair.
After a couple of moments, he began to speak gently, not too gently, enough for her to hopefully hear him. "Hailey? Hailey? Are you alright? I didn't expect that kind of reaction from you." He was naturally trying to make light of the situation, but he couldn't be sure what had made her do what she just did. Was it what he had said? Was it the whole party thing, just finally got to her? What? Whatever it was, he just hoped she was alright.

During this short time while she was out, she had a few visual thoughts go through her head. The first one was of what Nick might do when she woke up. Would he run after that little fainting spell of hers? Or would he continue to speak to her about how he felt? The next one was of them going out. So maybe that one was just playing off her thoughts of him talking more about his feelings. Hailey felt so much for Nick, and hoped that when she awoke, they would talk, and she would get a chance to tell him how she felt.
Soon the voice of someone calling her name made her stir. As her eyes fluttered open, Hailey soon remembered what had happened, and she soon felt a blush come over her face. Hailey put a hand to her head, and soon realising that her head was laying down on Nick's lap. She slowly got up, and looked everywhere but at Nick. "I feel so stupid now. I am okay." How was she going to tell him that she absolutely felt the same way as he did now. That little bit of a show was just so unlike Hailey. She wasn't that complicated, and now she kind of made the situation like that.
Finally getting the nerve to look at Nick, Hailey quietly spoke. "I think I was just a little shocked at what you said." She instantly put a hand on Nick's hand. "Don't get me wrong, it was not a bad thing. It's just..." Hailey trailed off, and let out a breath. "It's just that, I too have been thinking about you as more than a friend. And so far, the dance, has been confirming my feelings for you, and bringing it all to light now." Hailey then removed her hand from Nick's and straightened her dress up a bit.

Nick hoped that Hailey would waken soon, only because he was getting a little worried about her, what if she'd hurt herself when she'd fallen and he didn't notice or realise? After he had picked her up and lay her head on his lap, began to talk in a voice loud enough for her to hear, but not too loud that would bring attention to them both. He was sure a sigh of relief escaped when he felt her move up from his lap slowly, and then he heard her talk.
He looked at her, but she wasn't looking at him. Had he said the wrong thing after all? Had he spoiled what they had? Hailey then said she felt stupid, but she was okay. "You shouldn't feel stupid Hailey, it's been a big night, and it is very warm in that hall." He wasn't just saying that, it was true. He was about to put his hand under her chin and turn her to face him, but Hailey then began to turn to face him.
She began to talk to him, and at first, he thought he had said the wrong thing, but then he felt Hailey take his hand and she continued. What she said, made him smile brightly. He couldn't help it, but it was simply the best news he was hearing, after thinking he'd spoiled things between them. When she had finished talking and let go of his hand, and he saw her fixing her dress up. "Bloody hell Hailey, I was so scared to tell you, I've been feeling like this for a while, but never wanted to push things. I guess tonight just brought it all out for me. I'm so glad you feel the same way."
With that, he found he couldn't hold back any longer, and he put his hand under her chin, "So, now we've been honest with each other, maybe I can be allowed to do this? Seeing as I've wanted to do this for such a long time." He then closed the gap between them, and softly touched his lips against her own and kissed her softly, but with a slight bit of passion, not wanting to be too adventurous, not for a first kiss anyway.

Hailey nodded slowly, when Nick said that she shouldn't feel stupid, and that it had been a big night. Well, really, in some ways it hadn't, but maybe emotionally it had. The whole thing about liking Nick more than a friends might have had its toll on Hailey, and then hearing him say he basically had feelings for her, just made it all come ahead, and she was overwhelmed. "I know. But I don't do that sort of thing. Faint, I mean. I am such an uncomplicated person, and I feel that was a bit of an overreaction on my part. But anyway."
After Hailey told Nick how she had been feeling towards him also, she saw him smile brightly at her. Well, maybe her bit of drama was well worth it. But seriously, she would never do that again, unless it was for real. She hated drama in her life, and when her best friend was killed, it was way too much to handle. Even thought her and Nick were now only starting out, she hoped that they would have a somewhat normal relationship. Well, normal has you can when in high school.
Hailey stopped fixing her dress, and looked at Nick, expressionless at first, as he told her that he was so scared to tell her, and that he didn't want to push things. "I am glad too," Hailey said now, with a warm smile. "I knew that if I said something, that I might lose you as a friend. The only true friend I have made since being in New York." Hailey looked down at her hands. "And now my boyfriend." As she said that, Hailey grinned. When she said it, it made her so happy to know that she finally had one. Looking up at Nick, she continued to smile. "One that I care for very much."
Once she had finished, Nick put his hand under her chin. Hailey heard what Nick said, and soon realised what he was about to do. Soon enough the gap between them was non existant, and Nick's lips softly touched her own. Hailey's heart started to beat faster, not really knowing where to put her hands or how to kiss Nick. She had never kissed a boy before, but this kiss felt nice. Without even realising it, Hailey felt herself feel a bit funny, and then all of a sudden, she fell through the bench they were sitting on. She then hit her head on the tree.
"Ouch." So this first kiss didn't go as planned for them. Why did Hailey's ability have to come into play, just as she was getting her first real kiss from a boy, and Nick nonethelesss. How was she going to explain this one?

When Hailey began to talk about the fact she'd fainted, she mentioned she didn't normally do that kind of thing, the fainting thing, and she felt it was a bit of an overreaction no her part. Nick wasn't sure what to say then, but he nodded his head, to show he understood what she was saying. "You can look at it as an overreaction, but I'll look at it as a very warm hall which caused it." He grinned at her then, really he was just trying to stop her from feeling so worked up over fainting. Nick had seen plenty of people faint before now.
After Nick had said he was scared to tell her how he felt, for fear of ruining or losing the friendship, he couldn't help but smile as Hailey said almost the same thing back to him. How he was her only true friend and now boyfriend and one she cared about very much. He couldn't help but touch her nose with his finger again, before touching her forehead with his own. "Well, I care about you very much too. And you will never lose me Hailey." She never would, so long as he had anything to do with it.
He had then chosen that moment to give her a kiss. Their first proper kiss. Nick was a little nervous, scared that as soon as their lips touched, they would both realise that it was wrong, and they should have stayed friends. But no, as soon as their lips connected, Nick felt a tingling sensation run through him, and butterflies in his stomach and he knew that it was most definitely the right decision. Seconds later, however, Hailey began to move and Nick then saw her fall through the bench they were sitting on and bump her head on the tree.
Any other boy or person would have been shocked to see a person fall through a bench, but not Nick. Because Nick was like Hailey, he too had an ability. They had never discussed the fact they had an ability with each other, but it was about to be discussed now. He had a feeling Hailey would be wondering how to explain what just happened to her. The first thing he did, was to make sure she was alright, "You alright Hailey?" He then stood up and held both his hands out to lift her back onto her feet, and make sure she got sitting back on the bench.
"You know, I'm not too happy at this tree hurting you." He then clenched his fists, and then closing his eyes for a few seconds, he opened them, unfurling his hands and aimed them at the tree, as bolts of electricity came out of his hands and hit the tree, causing it to spark and smoke a bit. Satisfied he'd got the tree back, he turned to Hailey with a grin. "There, it won't be hurting you anytime too soon again, I don't think." So, Hailey obviously had the ability to phase, and now Nick had just shown his ability of electrokinesis.

Hailey smiled weakly at Nick, when it seemed he was giving her a nice excuse for her fainting. She just kept thinking that she was going to put Nick off of her with doing that. That grin of Nick's just made Hailey more sure of her feelings for him. She looked down at her hands. "I suppose you are right. But I still feel stupid for acting that way. But I will agree to what you said, so that we don't go on about it. Well, really, that it will stop me from going on about it." Now she was talking non stop, which was unlike her.
She was glad that he cared for her, just as much as she cared for Nick. That touch of his finger on her nose made her smile, and blush a little. Nick was definately working his magic on her, and she loved it already. Just knowing that they were now out in the open for their feelings for each other. It was a bit of relief to know where she stood with him, without hiding what she was feeling.
Just when she was getting into the kiss a bit, her ability came into play. Of all times for this to happen, it happened at that point in time. She had no idea what Nick might say, or how she was going to explain herself to him. Hailey looked up at him, red faced, as he stood up, holding his hands out, asking if she was alright. She sheepishly took his hands, to help herself up off the ground. Then Hailey slowly sat back on the seat, still not knowing what to say to Nick.
Finally, she got the courage to look at him, still red faced. She could feel the heat on her skin. "I am okay." Before she could even try to explain what had happened, she listened to what Nick said about the tree. Now staring at Nick, as he clenched his fists, closing his eyes, she wondered what he was going to do to the tree. Then he opened his eyes, opened his hands, and aimed his hands at the tree. Hailey gasped a little, when she saw the bolts of electricity leave his hands, and head towards the tree, hitting it, leaving it to spark and smoke.
Hailey's mouth was still open, when Nick turned back, smiling at her. He then said that the tree won't be hurting her any time too soon. She then realised that her mouth was open, and she closed it quickly. "I don't know ... so ... you have an ability like me. Well, not exactly like me, but an ability nonetheless." Hailey then looked around, and saw that no one was outside the school now, and wondered if anyone had seen the little scene that had played out. She hoped and prayed that no one did.
Then Hailey decided to ask. "So what is your ability? Not sure if you know what mine is, but it is phasing. I can move through solid objects and even people's bodies. Though I don't like doing that to people. I feel that I would be the villain if I ever decided to harm someone. I am just not that kind of person." Just then Hailey heard someone talk over the loud speaker. Something about announcing the winner of the lucky door prize or something. "Maybe we should head in. I am sure that we can talk about it more later."

When Hailey said she would agree to what he said so they wouldn't keep going on about it, Nick just have her a soft smile. He didn't want to go on about it either, but he knew he would just keep telling her it was fine, and there was nothing to worry about, and she would just keep saying there was. "Alright then Hailey." Was all Nick could think of to say, because like Hailey said, there was no point in going over it again and again.
When Nick had touched her nose, he saw her smile and go slightly red, which he thought was cute. Now their feelings were out there, things felt so much better. He felt he could now be totally honest with her, with his feelings. Before, when they were just friends, it had been very difficult for him to act as just her friend as his feelings for her continued to grow and grow.
When they had began to kiss however, Nick had felt Hailey move, and the next thing he saw was her fall through the bench and land on the ground. He knew right away she had an ability, just like he had one, and he knew what ability she had as well, as he had studied the book Activating Evolution when he'd learned of his own ability. He had of course stood up, holding his hands out to help her up off the ground.
He smiled when she said she was okay. "Good, I wouldn't want you to be hurt." Hadn't he said those words before not long ago? Never mind, he had then decided that payback was in order, and it also gave him a chance to use his own ability. He then fired up his electrokinesis and fired it at the tree, making it spark and smoke before he turned to face Hailey. He had to chuckle slightly at the look on her face, then she stuttered over some words going on about him having an ability like her. "Yeah, that's right, I'm special too, as they say."
Hailey then asked him what his ability was, and went on to give him the name of her own ability, even though he already knew, but he wasn't the type to interrupt her, so he just nodded his head and continued to smile at her as she explained her ability. "Mine is called Electrokinesis, can conjure and manipulate electricity." He grinned at her after telling her his ability and what it could do. He then took a breath, "I actually knew the name of your ability, and I can only imagine what it must be like to phase yourself into someone, not pleasant for you or the other person I would imagine." Nick never used his ability for anything bad either. That's not to say he wouldn't use it to protect friends or family, he would, but he wasn't the type to go around electrocuting people with it for the fun of it.
Then there was an announcement heard, it wasn't too clear from where they were, but Hailey had suggested they should maybe head back inside. Nick nodded his head, "Yeah, maybe you're right, probably is about time we headed back inside." Nick then held his hand out for Hailey to take, and when she did, he began to lead them back inside.

Hailey had to smile sheepishly still, when he had that he wouldn't want her to be hurt. That made two of them. She was no way accident prone, but she had had her fair share of falls in her life. Some embarrassing, some just down right silly. Some of them had happened when she was with her friend, from where she originally lived. The thought of him made her sad, but decided that the time was not for being sad. Hailey should be happy, now that she was finally at a new level of relationship with Nick.
She must have looked stupid, or funny, as Nick demonstrated his own ability, that she had no idea he had. After all the time that her and Nick had been together, mostly during school, it had never really come up in conversation. When he finished with the tree, he turned to look at her, chuckling, saying that he was special too. Just knowing that they had another thing in common, made the moment they both shared their feelings all the more special.
Hailey had asked him about his ability, and Nick told her what it was called, and what he could do. She raised an eyebrow, when he said that he knew what her ability was called, and could only imagine what it would be like to do what she said that she was able to do. "I know. And I hope that I never had to do that to another human being. Lucky for you I phased through the bench, and not into you. I would have had the shortest ever relationship in the school." She kind of laughed at that. But really, Hailey was glad that that never came to pass.
When Nick agreed to go back inside, she smiled at him. Hailey still couldn't believe that she was now with Nick, in a relationship. Her first relationship. She soon took Nick's hand, and she followed him inside.
(ooc - not sure if you want to put in another Nick post or just leave it at this one. Doesn't really worry me. Maybe it would be best of Nick commented on a couple of things that Hailey said to him.)

{ooc - Yeah I'll do a small finishing post - then if you agree we can lock & archive it, so long as I know - then I can mark off my thread list}
Nick couldn't believe that both he and Haily had an ability. It's not that he didn't think others existed, he knew they did, but to have been friends with Hailey for that time and for them to not know about each other, and find out on the very night they admitted their feelings, was in a way, quite magical.
When Hailey said she hoped she never had to do that to another human, and that he was lucky she phased through the bench and not him, giving her the shortest relationship in school, Nick had to laugh lightly along with Hailey. "Yeah, can just see the headline now, 'Teenage Couple Admit True Feelings....only for the girl to phase through her new love and kill him.' Would make a pretty awesome headline." Nick was naturally teasing Hailey about that, and laughed some more.
When Hailey smiled at Nick, he leaned in to kiss her cheek, and snuggle her into him slightly, before she took his offered hand, and soon they were making their way back into the hall. The night wasn't over yet, but already it had turned out to be one of the most magical nights in Nick's life.
