5th Of July, 2009 2:00 PM The sun was rising high above the city beating down rays of ecstatic heat that seemed to burn everyone that went in its path. It was actually an understatement to call this a hot day. Any person with a brain could have figured out that it was hot. The Birds were singing there sweet song throughout the whole of manhattan only to be upstaged by the sounds of traffic. The heat outside was bad enough but in cars the people were growing everymore angry with each other. Today was not a day for cofee but it had seemed everyone who had usually spent there days in these coffee huts had now evacuated given that they would most likely be burned. Adam was quitely sitting in a corner so as not to be in anyones road. His shyness seemed to be taking the form in courtesy these days. The outside world that Adam knew was polluted with those who would rather get drunk than do something constructive. Adam just calmly sat there with his laptop screen facing him whilst taking a hefty drink out of a warm bottle of coke which had been tainted by the sunlight. It really didn't bother Adam that much to know that his coke had gone warm. He was just to busy to notice anyone right now as he repetedly taped the keys on his laptop hoping to get his latest blog done on time. What he was doing was to benifit himself by keeping a track of his experiences and maybe find someone else out there like him, Adam was sick of being called a fruitloop because of what he wrote down which to him were cold hard facts. Adam had really lost track of time because he had no idea how long he had been here, regardless he rubbed his eyes methodically to try and bring some life back into them. Knowing that it was probably time to call it a day Adam packed up his things and headed for the door, but not before bumping into someone. "I'm um..... I'm sorry about... that" He said apologizing for the accidental bumo

Sarah was in New York because even though she was The Chronicle's Agony Aunt, they were short staffed with Brendan being on holiday. Brendan was one of her bosses at the paper, and they wanted her to check on a story, apparently she would be credited for gathering the details for them, but she basically didn't care. So long as they paid for her flight, and she made sure she was stubborn on that fact. When they had agreed, she said she would go. So, she had been in Manhattan since yesterday, and basically she decided after sending in the relevant information the paper required, she may as well stay a couple of days, as it had been far to travel from Kansas.
So today she was doing, or had been doing a bit of shopping, and now she was feeling a little tired and was going to get herself a drink. She saw a cafe, and thought it looked like the perfect place to have a coffee. Sliding the carrier bags up her arm, she then reached into her handbag to try and get her purse out, so she wasn't exactly looking where she was going. She then felt someone bump into her. She was about to apologise for bumping into the person, but she noticed they got in first.
It was a guy, or a girl with a deep voice, she then decided to look up at who she had bumped into, and couldn't help but smile. He was kinda cute looking and Sarah had a bit of a weakness for men in general. "You're alright, I was the one who wasn't looking where I was going, so I should be saying sorry." She then bit on her bottom lip slightly, before giving him a smile and then adding, "So, sorry."

The fact that he had bumped into this woman was really embrassing for him. He really didnt want to be seen after that, as his face blushed a bright scarlet red to echo how embarrased he was at the situation. He immediatlly pulled his face down out of sight. Adam had never been really god with women and it had always shown with him immediatly. Adam rubbed his arm slightly feeling a slight warmness where they had bumped into each other. Adam was determined not to look her in the face just so she couldn't see how red he actually was..
Adam backed up a couple of steps before returning his face up to see the damage he had done. It didnt seem to bad as the woman he bumped into was still standing. A smile broke into his face as she realised she was in fact ok. He took the steps forward again to take closer inspection. The girl he had bumped into was pretty and this only made Adam blush even more as he thought about her. "Nah theres nothing to be sorry for. It was....uh my... Um..... fault anyways." The terror in his voice obviouslly was showing as the others in the coffee hut had turned round to take a look at what had happened. He looked at her face again realising he knew her somehow. After several seconds of awkwardly, silently thinking he finally said "Do I know you from somewhere"

After Sarah was bumped into, she just looked around for a few seconds, as she actually caught his look and realised he looked kinda cute, she soon noticed he had gone a slight shade of red and seemingly tried to look in any direction but her own. There was also a bit of a silence. He eventually looked up at her, and she noticed him blush, not something Sarah was used to with guys. She was usually the one doing the blushing. But he had said she had nothing to be sorry for. He then went on to say, in stumbled speech, that it was his fault anyway.
"Well, it's alright, no damage done, see? Not a scratch on me." She gave him a bright smile then. She could hear the fear in his voice, and she wondered if he was one of these guys who found it difficult to talk to women or something. Or was he just really embarrassed about the fact he had bumped into her? However, he seemed to get a bit closer to her though and then he asked if he knew her from somewhere.
She wondered if she would get that from him. Her face was fairly well known in the Evolved Human world, what with working for The Chronicle newspaper, which was about the Evolved Human world, run by Evolved Humans. "Well, yeah, you might do, if you read The Chronicle, I'm their Agony Aunt." She gave him a smile raising both her eyebrows. When that happened, bumping into people and having them ask if they knew her, she always wondered if they had written with a problem at all. She then extended her hand out to him, "Sarah Merrimount, pleased to meet, err, bump into you." She smiled at him, her eyes sparkling as she did so.

Adam knew just by looking at her that there was no damage done, but he still couldn't help but to feel sorry after nearly mowing the woman over. He felt like he owed her something, like he was forever at her service. Those little quirks about Adam are what made him, him and he liked who he was and wouldn't change that for the world. A his head drifted of into a world of its own he had completely forgot about the woman standing in front of him. As he came back down he shook his head rapidly before returning eye contact to this woman. After a while his gaze fell as he did not want to seem like a nut. But that was far from the truth.
He focused at this woman bugeyed when he heard the chronicle being mentioned. It was all so obvious to him now as he uncorked the coke before draining the last few drops. Not only was he metting a celebrity but a fellow special, that was if the chronicle was real. He tended to believe everyword of it after discovering what he could do. He felt like giving this woman a hug for letting him know that the special world did exist and that he was not the only one, but he somehow found that this would be weird seeing as they had just met moments earlier.
Adam regained his compusure and swept himself down. "er..... I'm um........ I'm Adam...... Adam Trucker and its an um..... eh......... pleasure to emm........ meet you Sarah."

After she had said there was no damage done, he went a bit quiet on her, the typical awkward silence. If he was one of these shy type guys, should she just leave him be? Sarah wasn't really the type to make it awkward for people, if they found meeting new people a daunting prospect. She just stood there smiling brightly at him, not sure what else to do, other than just walk away, but Sarah wasn't really the type to do that to someone either. She had a stubborn streak in her as well, and usually liked to get her own way, and seeing this guy, knowing how cute he kinda looked, she wanted to maybe try and get to know him more, even if it was crazy since she was from Kansas.
She was able to get The Chronicle to pay for this flight, but if she wanted to come back again without it being a job for the paper, then she'd have to cover the cost herself. Brendan Harris really had a lot to answer for with his god damned love at first sight article he wrote. Who the hell fell in love at first sight without really knowing the person? Yet, here she was thinking about paying for flights to come to New York if need be. She shook her head then of the thoughts, just as the guy began to speak to her again after she had introduced herself.
He was stumbling over his words again and Sarah felt her heart go out to him, he must be finding it so difficult to talk to her. He really must be shy or something around women, or maybe everyone he meets for the first time. Some people were just like that. "Well Adam, it's a pleasure to meet you too, and well, I am sure the pleasure is all mine really." She gave him a warm smile then, she wanted to talk to ask if he wanted to go for a drink or something, but since he had just left a coffee shop, she had a feeling that wouldn't exactly be on his agenda, and the fact he seemed to be awkward with her, asking him to go for a drink somewhere might not be the best idea.

There was room for interpretation. Adam's epressions shown on his face usually did nothing but to confuse the person he was talking to even more. This was his way of life and it usually left people thinking he was either to emotionless or emotional. Adam didn't really care about what the others thought, he only cared what the people who mattered thought. Adam's body began to shake due to stress as he could not hold down his own excitement or his passion upon meeting someone of grave importance in the special world. His lips became dry and he knew now he would not stand a chance with talking to her if he couldn't talk to her. Adam held out his hand in a monentary handshake trying to relieve the tension in him.
His watch beemed sunlight all throughout the room and as his hand was extended Adam was finally able to figure out the time. 2:07pm, boy he had been at that blog for longer than he thought but since he wasn't needed right now he thought of staying here with this woman and possibly ask her some questions. He still could not hold down his excitement as his hand became more shakey whilst held out. "I'd er...... um........ I'd like to umm....... Get to err.......um.... know you and the...... um......... Special community better" He said his shakiness making its way to his voice.

As Sarah stood there unsure of what was happening between herself and Adam, as she found out his name was, she didn't know where to look, and the longer she stood there watching Adam feel more and more nervous around her, the more she wanted to talk to him, and try to calm him down. It must be the agony aunt within her making her feel this way. Usually she was faced with it, via emails or letters, but this was the first time she had to use her empathy face to face. He soon extended his hand to her, and she shook it, still giving him a bright smile.
Soon he began to talk to her, even if the speech was broken and staggered, the whole time he tried to string his sentence together, she just kept smiling at him. Not one to play on how a person acts, she wasn't that type of woman. Stubborn yes, scared of small, enclosed spaces yes, but mean, no. When he was finished his sentence, Sarah gave him an even brighter smile.
"Well, Adam, I'd like that very much. However, you looked to be leaving here, are you willing to stay here? Or do you think you might like to have a stronger drink?" She only asked this, because she wondered if having a stronger drink might help to calm him down. "I'm happy to do either." She then put a hand on his shoulder, in a bid to hopefully calm him down more, as she could see he was physically shaking. Never before had she that sort of effect on a guy. Was it because of who she was? Or was he like that with anybody he met first time.

Adam returned to his normal state of mind and stopped apologizing obsesivly just in case she thought he was weird or something and ran off. This was the one chance to learn about others like him, if she permited to tell him. He had so many questions he wanted to ask but he held back knowing if he opened his mouth a bunch of garble would come out and make him seem foolish but was it really his fault that when he got exited he spoke so fast noone understood him. Adam sided away from this manner and looked at Sarah once more just to match her name to that facee, in case he ever saw her again. Hell his memory was so bad that he probably wouldn't remember it anyways.
"Well mam...... er............ maybe...... we could um.......... stay here and......... sit and talk" Adam responded not as scared as before but filled to the brim with excitement. By the end of the day Adam was sure he would have the information that he wanted and hopefully something more. Adam sat back down not kknowing what this woman's reply was going to be with an eager and amphatic face on himself. His glee seemed to fill the room as people al around him were smiling cheerfully

Sarah again stood, smiling, very patient while she waited on a response from Adam about sitting to talk for a while, and did he want to stay in the coffee shop they were in, or go somewhere else. She had kept her hand on his arm the whole time, hoping it would calm him down, but when he went to speak to her again, she noticed it hadn't. Maybe it was just the way he was, it could be quite possible for nothing she said or did to make a difference.
"If that's what you would like Adam, then sure, we can stay here to sit and talk." She let go of his arm then, taking a look around, and found an empty table toward the back of the shop, and the good thing, it was away from a lot of prying eyes and ears. She pointed to it, "How about that one toward the back? Looks like we could get peace to talk, don't you think?" Then again, she wondered if pointing out a table toward the back might be a bad move, if he was this nervous around her in front of other people, he might be even more nervous. "Or, we could just sit at this one behind us, out here, your choice." She would prefer to speak toward the back, but she didn't want to make Adam feel anymore nervous or awkward and uneasy around her, than he already seemed to be.
Sarah liked to think she was good with people, it was why she got the job at The Chronicle as their Agony Aunt, but being faced with Adam's nerves and staggering speech, she was finding it more difficult than she thought it could be. It was definitely far more easier dealing with it via the paper.
