July 26th, 2009
It was a quiet night at the Tobruk residence, Matt asleep in his bed, the breeze blowing through the small opening in his window, keeping his room cool during the warm nights. While the night was peaceful, Matt's mind was not. He had been having nightmares, dreams of events that seemed to be happening around him. People getting hurt in car accidents, buildings collapsing, guns being fired, it was too much for Matt this time.
His eyes opened, immediately feeling the sweat forming on his head as he got up abruptly, panting deeply for a moment as he scanned the room. Nothing... Just as he had left it before he went to bed. He shook his head a couple of times, wiping his brow with his forearm as he got up out of the bed, the lights of the streets illuminating his room. He put a pair of shorts on, followed by a black tank top as he walked out of his room, walking down the corridor.
As he walked past Lucas' room, he could hear his bed squeaking, as well as pants from the new girlfriend he had brought home this time. "I'm going out for a walk." Matt yelled at the room, the squeaking stopping for a moment, before a couple of giggles broke out. Matt simply rolled his eyes as he continued to walk out of the house, opening the door and exiting. He closed the door and as he walked out, noticed someone standing in front of him, however in the shadows.
"Hello? Can I help you?" Matt asked, looking curiously at the figure who stood ahead of him.

Fletcher hadn't had much luck lately with writing songs, or finding any new talent out there. It seemed that the good talent had already been taken. Back on the first of July, there had been a showcase of new artists and bands, and hearing about it on the news, and reading about it in the newspaper, he just rolled his eyes. Why was it when he needed to find up and coming people, they had already been snatched up. Oh well.
So he decided to go for a stroll out at night. Not sure why, but he knew that he needed to clear his head. Fletcher had been doing too much thinking, and that might have been half of his problem. He needed to stop thinking for one night, and just think of nothing, but his own well being. The walk was definately better than hitting a club or two. Maybe he should have done that, and met up with some random woman. That wouldn't have been so bad.
As Fletcher walked passed one house, he saw a person open the door, and head outside. Instead of just continuing to walk, he stopped, hidden in the shadows. Fletcher was not overly tall, but was still noticible. Soon enough the person said hello, and if they could help him. Fletcher didn't know what he should do. Should he talk to a random stranger about his problems? Well, really, Fletcher didn't have anyone, except his mum, and his siblings.
Fletcher slowly made his way out of the shadows, and walked towards the guy. "Hi, how are ya? Well not sure if you can help me at all really. Just taking a walk to clear my head. Really need it right now."

As the stranger came out of the shadows, Matt noticed he was a little apprehensive in the way he moved and spoke. He spoke about taking a stroll to clear his head... Funnily enough that's what Matt was doing as well. "Well speak of the devil, I was about to do the exact same thing... But hey, if you need help with anything, I'll be glad to help you out." Matt said as he stepped down the stairs, walking towards the stranger, hand extended towards the man.
"Matthew Tobruk, nice to meet you. You live in Manhattan too?" He asked, using the introduction as an icebreaker of sorts. He couldn't help but wonder if this guy was someone with a special ability as well. He seemed to be attracting them all left, right and center, especially with the crazy electric lady he'd run into yesterday.

Christina still kept her body in the shadows, so maybe this guy could see one of the two of them. Chrissie stood across the street ,leaning on a wall, as silence as the night. The other man who was unknown to her had also been out on this fine evening. Chrissie could see the men perfectly, while they could not.
The night had been boring. The streets silent except for the odd car or too, early into morning it was, but that mattered little to Christina. New York had been her home for the past while, like Chicago or Dallas had been. It was only temporary of coarse, she didn’t want to made the trail all to easy to fallow. To others of her kind, Chrissie could be called a villain, but all she was doing was standing up fro the weak of her kind. Getting ride of the humans in the way. It was life, they were going to die one way or another.
With a sigh, Christina had just fallowed her nose, a scent of anyone with a hint of being special. A talent one would say, to find people with powers. Though she had no intention of hunting them, not unless they came in her way, which most didn’t want to. How could you defeat someone who can heal rapidly, and bites back. She had both a defense and offensive abilities. Putting her at the top of the food chain.
It eventually had let her here, to Manhattan where, you never know what lurks in the shadows. But what fun is that, to play it safe on the sidelines, none at all. Taking a step forward and walking across the street, she said with an innocent smile on her pretty face.”Good evening Gentlemen.”

Fletcher did his small laugh, when he heard the guy was doing what he was doing. Well, must be the night for it then, thought Fletcher. The guy spoke about if Fletcher needed help with anything, he would be glad to help him out. Fletcher nodded, "Not sure how you could help, but okay." Then he extended his hand for Fletcher to take. "Hi Matthew. Nice to meet you too. And yes, I do live in Manhattan. Lower Manhattan to be exact. Have lived in this part of America for a while now."
Then just as Fletcher was about to tell Matt about what he problem was, another figure stepped out of the shadows, across the street this time. Turning to now smile at the female, Fletcher replied to her. "Good evening yourself. Have you been watching us, or just out for a walk, like myself?" To Fletcher, she looked like she was a bit of a minx, and one not to be messed with. He was never that lucky, when it came to women, never got the ones that were very sure of themselves as a female.
Fletcher then turned to Matt. "I was just going to keep walking, if you wanted to join me, and then I can talk to you about what is on my mind."

Matt smiled as Fletcher introduced himself, shaking his hand and nodding when he had mentioned he was part of the Manhattan District like himself. "Yeah, I've been living here for a while now too, although I was born in Australia." Matt said as he noticed Fletcher was about to speak, a shadowy figure approached them, Matt whipping his head around to see who it was.
Matt simply nodded as she said good evening, raising an eyebrow by the way she spoke. It seemed very innocent like... That's how Elle had sounded before she attacked him... But Matt wasn't one to judge based on first impressions. It was when Fletcher asked to continue their conversation else where, that Matt thought there was something going on.
He could easily just peer into their minds, see if any alternate motives were there... But Parkman had taught him not to tap into people's minds whenever he felt insecure... It was an emergency based power only. "Ok, let's go..." Matt said to Fletcher, turning to face him for a moment before back to the woman. "Sorry, but me and my neighbour are actually catching up. I'm afraid we won't have time to talk." He said, his tone sympathetic as he turned back to Fletcher, looking at him with a semi concerned look.

Chrissie smiled.”Don’t worry, I haven’t been watching for long. But I was out for a walk so doesn’t worry.”She replied innocently. Christian was curious none the less, and this guy knew something was up with her. Just the way his eyes twinkled, or the slight expression on his face. The two seemed to know each other or was that just what they were trying to achieve. Did they not want her around; well she was probably not on their list of idea friends.
”Are you sure. I’m not that much of a pest.”Christian replied . Her amber eyes shining slightly in the moons light. Maybe she was going to get a little to attached with these two, this game of hers that Chrissie liked to play. Would they let her join or not? What were they hiding, something was telling her that. ”Why in a hurry.”She asked ,taking a couple steps closer to the men.

Fletcher listened to Matt, as he said that he had been living in New York for a while now, but he was born in Australia. "Cool. I have never been there. But have heard great things about it." Fletcher had the money to go, but really, he was trying to keep himself in the music scene, and pick up any new artists or bands that might need some guidance.
When the woman came into view, Fletcher had greated her, but he noticed that Matt had only nodded in her direction, no verbal response or reply at all. The only response was the nod and a raised eyebrow. Then she commented on what Fletcher had asked her. Fletcher wondered just how long was that? "Okay. Well it looks like we were all out for a walk it seems." Fletcher looked from Matt, to this woman, wondering what might come out of this conversation.
Fletcher hadn't meant to be rude to the female, but really, one new person was enough to chat to right now. When Matt said 'let's go', Fletcher felt that Matt was probably fine with leaving the woman behind. But he turned back to the woman, telling her that Fletcher and Matt were catching up, and that they wouldn't have time to talk to her. When Matt turned back to Fletcher, with that look of concern, he knew that they needed to ditch the female.
Fletcher began to raise his personal shield up, as the woman asked why they were in a hurry. He put up his hands. "Not in a hurry, just wanting to catch up, like he said," pointing to Matt. What was her deal, thought Fletcher. So what he didn't know this Matt guy, at least, he was someone who he might be friends with.

As Matt looked at Fletcher as he began to show his concerns, noting his physical movements as ones of distrust. That's when the woman asked why they were in such a hurry. From Matt's experience with the bad guys, that line was almost too cliche. He moved in front of Fletcher slowly, reaching out subtly to keep Fletcher behind Matt. He didn't want someone without an ability to get hurt around him... At least that's what Matt thought, unaware of Fletcher's ability.
"Look, we've tried to say it in a nice way, but now I'm gonna say it to you directly. You're creeping the shit out of me, just appearing out of nowhere and starting to talk to us with that innocent tone. Please leave us alone." Matt said, hearing Fletcher's thoughts in his head, as he projected mentally to him, Don't freak out right now, but I'm talking to you telepathically. If this gets messy, you run. Matt projected to Fletcher, keeping his eyes locked on Christina.

Christina cocked her head to the side ,and looked away for a moment. If he knew that she was capable of, then maybe he would treat her differently. But oh well there only little humans, maybe special humans, but humans none the less. Chrissie didn’t want this to end too badly, maybe with some blood, not her own of coarse, but no deaths, it was much to open for that. Who wouldn’t hear a manly scream when there are houses everywhere.
She smiled.”A bold one we have here. Why met someone like me before?”Chrissie was playing with him, not that he would get all that far if he ran, she wasn’t going to hurt them, not yet at least. ”Your a special one aren`t you?”She asked ,raising a brow. They always did smell different.

"Damn right I am, bitch." Matt replied almost instantly to her question about Matt being special. He'd show her just how special he was, as he narrowed his eyes at her. "Listen, you probably think that your powers are all so great, you can take on anyone... But trust me, you haven't fought someone like me before. So I'm gonna tell you one more time... Piss off before I have to hurt you!" Matt said emphasising the piss off part.
He wasn't going to get pushed around by some damn villains. And he wasn't going to let Fletcher get hurt either. So he decided to do something new he was wanting to try. He focused on Christina's mind, projecting the illusion to her that Matt had suddenly split into multiple selves, like he was duplicating himself. Only she would see it.
"Which one is real Matt?" He and his telepathic clones asked her, smirking at the same time.

When the woman had asked why they were in such a hurry, Fletcher told her, and then Matt moved in front of him. He wondered why Matt was doing that. Really, if anything happened, Fletcher could just fly himself out of there. That was easy to do. But if he was becoming friends with Matt, then he would have to take him with him.
Matt spoke to her, saying that they had tried to tell her in a nice way, but he told her then that she was creeping him out. Then all of a sudden Fletcher heard Matt talking, but he was not actually physically talking to Fletcher. He hoped that his face didn't give anything away. Fletcher tried to take in what Matt was saying. How was he meant to reply to Matt. So he tried to think it through his head. Um, okay, I guess.
Fletcher then watched as the woman commented on what Matt had said to her, defending himself and Fletcher. When she asked Matt if he was special, Fletcher just listened at Matt's reaction. But he wondered how special he actually was. Matt continued to intagernise the woman, with more words. Fletcher continued to stand, and raised an eyebrow. He really wanted to know what Matt was capable of. Matt, what else aren't you telling me? What else are you capable of?
