Taryn walked down the streets of Costa Verde in hopes of finding something to do. But that was an hour ago and since then his hopes have been shattered. It was pretty warm out and the sun was shining through a small group of clouds overhead. He had lived there his whole life and he really did not see anything that interested him. He had done it all at least once before and he was looking for something different. But apparently his hopes were too high. There was nothing much to do when you have done everything. So eventually he settled on just sitting down in a park somewhere and watching other people. It was not fun or exciting but it kept him busy and he had nothing else to do.
He supposed that if he really wanted he could use some of his illusions on the unsuspecting public, see how real he could make them. But he decided against it. He didn't see the point; his illusions were already damn near perfect. It was just that the bigger the illusion the more flaws there were. Small flaws, but flaws nevertheless. He tried to perfect them and some times he could make them better. But there was always, at the very least, one flaw. Most did not notice, but it irritated him to no end when they did.
After a little while he decided to have some fun anyway. He watched and waited for a good test subject. After a little bit he saw a little boy about three yards away and thought that he would do. He looked around and then he saw that the little boy was next to tree stump: perfect. His eyes became a shade brighter of blue and they appeared to glow slightly. Just then, the stump turned into a dog. Or at least that’s what it would look like to everyone else. That was the good thing about his illusions. Everyone saw what he wanted them to see. The only exception being himself, and if he really wanted he could put himself under the illusion as well.
The boy and the people around him became excited all of a sudden. Apparently they loved dogs, although there was one that didnt seemed to fond of it. Unfortunately a little while later he heard them start talking about bringing it home with them. Obviously that would have been impossible so he had to create a distraction. He created nothing more than the sound of a crash and as soon as they all turned their heads he made the illusion of the dog return back to just a stump. He hoped that no one noticed his little display. He turned away immediatley and focused his attention on something else.

Claire had spent a lovely afternoon with Sam as always, and when he left to go home, Claire needed to get some fresh air, so she had taken herself off out for a walk and found herself at the park. Walking with her head in the clouds having just told her best friend she was in love with him, and he told her he felt the same way about her.
Now she was going to his house the next day to sit and watch movies together and drink chocolate milk. Such a sweet romantic date, well as romantic as it gets for Claire anyway. Just spending time alone with Sam would be perfect she thought. So lost in her thoughts, she hadn't even noticed the excited noises of some of the people in the park.
Taking a look around her, she finally found the scene which was causing much excitement and chaos. A dog, everybody seemed to be fussing over a dog, a small child in particular. Claire watched the scene from where she stood with much interest, because it was funny. Especially when people started talking about taking the dog home with them. Then there was a noise and the dog changed into a tree stump. Weird Claire thought.
Soon she noticed a young guy, probably around ages with herself, if not a little younger, she wasn't sure why, but she had a feeling he had something to do with the scene she had just witnessed. She walked up to where he was, sat down beside him and smiled before saying, "Hi, Claire, that was quite impressive" looking and nodding at the tree stump.

Taryn was fixated on a little fly that was insufferably buzzing around his head when Taryn noticed a girl; maybe a few years older than himself take a seat by him. He was about to greet her but she caught him a little off guard with her statement.
"Hi, Claire, that was quite impressive"
He didn't really know what to say so he did what he usually did when he messed up and someone found out about him and his ability. “Hi. Im Taryn. And I have no idea what you’re talking about.” He said casually, not letting his worry show on his face or in his voice. Or at least that’s what he tried to do. You could tell he was lying, he was definitely not the best in the world.
Crap, crap, crap! he thought to himself. He should’ve known better than to use his powers openly like that and now someone found out about them and now he had to lie. Which was pointless because he sucked at lying. It was a lose-lose situation at the moment. But hopefully this girl wasn’t the sharpest too; in the shed and just thought she was seeing things. But he didn't get his hopes up.
He supposed that if he wanted he could acknowledge his powers and tell her. Obviously she might have understood if she did see them before and she didn't yell, or start asking him one hundred questions. Maybe he could tell her, it wasn’t like he would see her again, right? But he doubted that too unless she was like just here to visit family or something. And even if he wanted to he couldn’t. His parents had told him to never tell anyone that didn't know about the fact that humans with abilities already existed. And even then they told him to be careful about who he decided to tell, if anyone.

"Well Taryn, it's very nice to meet you" Claire began, as she looked at him and smiled. So, he was trying to deny what he had done and what she had seen. Always typical of someone with a power when they didn't want it known to all. She could relate to that in more ways than one.
"Of course you don't know what I'm talking about, that's the way I act when people find out about me as well" she said slowly and still continuing to smile at him. Although she didn't know whether to tell him about her powers or not. It was obvious he had powers of some sort though, and he was only being secret about them like she had been told to be secret about her own.
She decided that it wouldn't do any harm to show her powers off to him in a small way, it may make him feel more comfortable around him. She bent down and picked up a stone which looked sharp and dragged it across her skin, so that it left a deep cut.
"Watch" she said to him, and held her hand out, so that within seconds it healed over. Looking at him for some sort of response. Maybe he'd be more open with her now, if he knew she was one of them.

Taryn looked over to her. “Its nice to meet you too Claire.” He said politely. He was wondering why she was so…well he could not think of the word but still, he wondered why she did not leave. Maybe she was not as dumb as he hoped she was. Which was wonderful for her, not so great for him.
Taryn sighed as she continued. He was not smiling.
"Of course you don't know what I'm talking about, that's the way I act when people find out about me as well" “Listen…Im sure you have secrets or whatever but I don’t.” This time was better but you could still see it in his eyes that he was lying. But that was quickly replaced with some disgust.
He could not believe what he was saw. She had taken a rock and made a huge cut in her arm. But what shocked him more was that a couple of seconds later it was not there. Her flesh just…grew back, mended itself. It was like the cut was not even there to begin with. And he thought his power could drive people insane. He wondered what would happen if you did that in front of mom and dad. ”So, you like…heal really fast?” he asked, still looking at where the cut had been.

She smiled as Taryn said it was nice to meet her also, but she could also tell he was wanting her to leave, but she couldn't do that, not until she hopefully made him understand that the powers weren't always a bad thing. True she wished she was normal, but she wasn't and now she had become to embrace her powers.
"I think everybody has secrets Taryn, not always the ones we think they might have" she responded with a weak smile. She obviously wasn't doing a very good job at making him comfortable.
As she cut into her skin, she watched the look on his face go from disgust at he doing what she did, to slight amazement at the fact she healed within seconds. "Yeah, that's right, its called Rapid Cellular Regeneration to give it its proper name, but that's what it means. I can even grow back limbs, I checked" she said in a low voice with a soft smile.

“Rapid Cellular Regeneration,” he repeated slowly, and then he started to chuckle a little. “Now that is impressive.” He had never seen such a thing. He wondered how much she could regenerate. Did it just stop at limbs? He wondered if she was even able to die. But he stopped there. He thought that it was kind of weird for him to be thinking those things.
“Ok…I guess I should let you know. It’s the polite thing to do.” He started to think for a minute. He had to explain it just right, and he wanted to keep it short. Illusions meant different things to people. Then he thought of a way to explain roughly. “To put it very simply…reality is my play thing.” He wondered how that sounded, but he told her it was a simple explanation. And it was the truth, he could toy with someone’s mind and make them see reality how he wanted them to see it until he drove him or her mentally insane. He would never do that, but he could.
But that was more of the darker part of his power. The way he liked to think of it was that he could make your wildest fantasies come alive. It would not be real of course, but that did not mean you could not enjoy it.

Claire just continued to smile as he repeated back the name of her ability to her and then when he said it was impressive, she began to laugh at little. "Yeah, it is rather impressive, although I've never really liked being different" she replied, and bit down on her bottom lip slightly, "I mean I've always preferred to be normal, other people don't understand that though, they think it's cool what I can do, well of those who know anyway" she added.
Maybe having a power wasn't such a bad thing after all, but why did she always feel like such a freak? School was the worst, having an accident at school and everybody being all worried about her, and being able to stand up seconds later as if nothing had happened. Hence the feeling like a freak thing.
"Well you don't have to let me know" she replied, putting emphasis on the word have, "but since we're obviously different to others, you can appreciate I'll understand" she added with a warm smile, as she waited for him to tell her about his power.
Reality is his play thing, she thought to herself after he told her, that meant he could maybe create illusions, because that's certainly something along the lines of what she had seen. One minute a dog, the next minute a tree stump. So he must have changed the tree stump into a dog, or at least gave that illusion for others to see.
"So you create illusions?" she asked him, after thinking about what he had told her. That's what it had to be, because what he had described, certainly sounded like illusions. Playing with reality, making someone see what he wants them to see, even if it's something completely different.

Taryn smiled a little. “Yeah. Illusions. But only to those who know they’re illusions. Otherwise someone would never know they were in one of my illusions. Sure they aren’t all perfect. But any imperfections are small ones that most don’t notice. And even if under regular circumstances they would realize it was fake, there would be no way for them to prove it.” He started to explain his power more than he wanted, but it just kind of came out. He really couldn’t stop right now. But he found it in himself to. He imagined it wasn’t the most exciting thing in the world.
“Sorry,” he apologized. “Im probably boring you right now. I know its not the most exciting thing to hear about.” He smiled a little and looked at the ground for a while. He always thought that his power was never really that interesting. Just normal and unimportant. But that was probably just because he has had them all his life.

Claire sat and listened carefully as Taryn explained his power to her a little more. It was rather fascinating in many ways. Claire always liked to learn of other people's abilities and how far they could go with them. Just like she was always testing herself, to see how far she could go and still be alive. Of course it didn't take her long to find out how advanced her powers were when she woke up on the post mortem table with her inners on show.
This had happened because she'd been killed by a piece of wood which had lodged itself into her head. She only came back to life when the piece of wood was removed from her head.
"You're not boring me at all, I always like to hear about other people's abilities" Claire replied with a smile, "So the people you do the illusions on naturally wont know its an illusion?" she asked, trying to understand what Taryn had said to her. It certainly seemed that way.
"My ability is quite advanced, I woke up on the post mortem table once" she told him, not that he'd asked much about her ability, she just decided to offer it. She grinned when she said it, as she thought it was quite funny she had been able to come alive after obviously being pronounced dead.
