21st August, 2009 It was Friday, the end of the working week for Drew and his best buddy and apprentice Indy. Sometimes he had to work at the weekend, depending on how busy the garage was, but not this weekend. This one he had free and he was looking forward to it. However, the past week Indy had been harping on at him about meeting her new boyfriend Adrien. Drew wasn't too keen on the idea, and he had no idea why, but because he liked Indy so much he finally gave in and agreed to meet him. If anything, he wanted to check the guy out and make sure he was good enough for his Indy. Wait?! His Indy? She wasn't his Indy, what the hell made him think that? They were just friends. Very good friends, but friends just the same. Friends who knew pretty much everything there was to know about each other. Neither of them had exactly had the best of lives and in a way, Drew felt that was what made them such good friends. They loved messing around with each other. But Drew never looked at it in any other way than just good friends. He had just finished having his shower, and threw on a pair of denims and a casual grey top, putting some gel into his hands, he fixed up his hair, splashed on some Fahrenheit after shave and within ten minutes he felt he was ready. For some reason Drew's nerves were getting the better of him now, because there was only another ten minutes before he was due to meet Indy and Adrien at the Royal Oak Bar. He then took out his mobile phone and sent Indy the following text; Hi Indy
On my way, see you in ten. Drew <3 Luckily the bar wasn't too far away from where Drew lived, which was great. It meant he didn't have to worry about cars and not being able to drink and all that jazz. After ten minutes, he got that little closer to the bar, and already Drew was getting more and more nervous. Why the hell was he nervous? He and Indy had met up like this for drinks plenty of times, why was this time any different? However, the thought of Indy with another guy just wasn't sitting well with him, and he had no idea why. It was his hair she ruffled, and it was only Indy who tickled him like that. It was her eyes he loved when he looked into them, whether in their human form or their main shift form. It was her laugh which made him feel so happy he felt he was glowing on the inside. It was Indy he felt the massive urge to protect. He'd kill for her if necessary, and Drew wasn't much of a killer. Thinking back on those thoughts, he began to shake his head. What the hell is going on here? They were just friends. 'Well, if you're just friends, why do I flutter every time I see her?' His heart said, he frowned slightly. 'You don't flutter.' He had to stop this, his head was now beginning to hurt. 'Oh, I do flutter, and your stomach does triple flips.' Drew sighed, running his hands messily through his hair. 'Stop, this is ridiculous, she's just a friend.' His heart was now beating really hard in his chest, so hard he thought his ribcage was going to crack. 'Keep telling yourself that buddy.' He stopped walking then, he was almost at the bar, in fact, if Indy and her boyfriend were already in there, they might very well see him, but he had to stop. He closed his eyes then, and took a deep breath in. 'Drew, buddy, she's a friend, quit listening to your heart.' But then the ultimate thing happened, it wasn't his heart speaking to him this time, it was his head. 'Face facts Drew, you love her, you have for a while.' "God damnit it to hell." His voice was loud as he just leaned against the wall next to the bar, breathing in and out a couple of times, as he gathered his thoughts and then, not putting it off any longer, he walked into the bar and saw her immediately. He always could in a crowd. He walked right up to her and squeezed her sides, as he chuckled a little. "Told you it wouldn't take me long to get here, so are you going to introduce me then or what?" However, just at that point, Drew moved his position and that's when he saw him. He could have sworn that face was familiar. He could have sworn he knew it, how did he know the guy's face? But however he knew it, it wasn't making Drew feel good, and if this was her boyfriend, Drew really didn't like it. Didn't like it one little bit.

Friday. The day seemed to drag on for ages. Luckily, it seemed bearable with Drew around. Indy looked at the clock and grinned, wiping her oily hands on her overalls. Drew allowed her to go home early to make herself 'pretty', so she drove home quicker than she ever had, surely breaking some speed limits on the way. But it didn't matter, tonight was going to be special, she could feel it. After flying through the front door in her overalls and work boots, Alex looked over his laptop in the lounge and raised an eyebrow. "Indy? You've left footprints everywhere!" She laughed, as she began pulling her overalls off and kicking her boots into the corner of her room. "I'll tidy in a minute, God man!" She yelled back. The blonde man chuckled to himself, continuing to flip through his photo albums on his laptop. The young woman meanwhile grabbed her best pair of jeans and a black sweater, dumping them over the towel rail as she jumped in the shower. She sung loudly to herself, making her uncle downstairs laugh to himself. Indy oblivious to anyone listening belted her new favourite song out, stopping every so often to spit out the water that went in her mouth. It was strange, she was kind of nervous, Drew's opinion mattered more than anyone's, including Jude and Alex. If he disapproved, within a few days Indy knew Adrien would be gone. He could read people well, he knew more than she did when it came to people anyway. Eventually when Indy finished belting her voice out as loud as she could, she dried herself off and pulled on her jeans and sweater. "Indy, these floorboards won't clean themselves!" Alex shouted up the stairs. Indy rolled her eyes, "Ok old man! I'll do them now, even though I'll be late, and it'll be your fault, and I'll hate you forever!" Once again Alex chuckled, going back to his laptop. She was always so dramatic. "I'm sure Andrew and your new man will wait, you're worth waiting for." Indy smiled at that, but didn't dwell on it for long. She ran to the cleaning cupboard and pulled out a mop and began cleaning the floorboards wherever she had stood in her work boots. It was spotless after ten minutes and Indy ran back into her room, placing herself in front of her mirror and make up bag. She was going for the dark, mysterious look tonight. She pulled her hair up into a bun, leaving some of it down over her face and around her head. For her eyes, Indy used dark brown eyeliner and eyeshadow, making her look extra dark. It would give Adrien and his eyeliner a run for his money anyway. Once she felt satisfied with her make-up and presentation, she pulled on her red converse sneakers and her worn leather jacket. Indy grabbed her essentials; house keys, car keys, mobile phone, wallet, camera and scarf. It got chilly sometimes of a night, and she didn't want to catch a cold. Safety first. She dumped everything in her shoulder bag and ran downstairs, jumping the last few steps enthusiastically. "Alexander my friend, did you eat my sandwiches I left here this morning?" He sighed, shaking his head. Indy grinned and ran to the fridge, finding her peanut butter and jelly sandwich still fully intact. She shoved it in her mouth while she pulled her car keys from her bag. "I'm off Alex, I'll text ya. Don't stare at that thing too long will ya?" He didn't reply, so Indy quickly swung her head around the archway in the corridor. He was on the phone, Indy grinned. "BYE OLD MAN!" She shouted, "Go fly a kite Indy Anna!" He shouted back, covering the phone with his hand. She laughed and shut the front door behind her. It didn't take long to get to the bar, it was a couple of blocks away from Drew so it would only take him ten minutes to get there. Indy however, had to drive. Ugh. She got a text from him as she pulled into the parking lot of the bar. Hi Indy On my way, see you in ten. Drew <3 The young woman grinned, immediately tapping the buttons to text him back. Hey Drew, I'm already there so get your butt here now yeah? Thanks =D Indy x [/i][/center] Indy pushed open the door to the bar and already saw Adrien sitting at the bar, she smiled, he looked uber cute tonight. As she approached him she twirled around in a circle, "Mysterious enough Ade?" She kissed him on the cheek and pulled out her wallet to buy a beer, her only one for the night unfortunately. She tapped it impatiently on the bar counter, pouting her lips out as she did. Once she did manage to finally order, she realised how packed the place was. "Drew sure knows how to pick 'em." She smiled, just as she said that to Adrien, there was Drew. She grinned at him, he came over, looking different from everyone else in the busy place. He stood out. He always did. It was obvious he would tickle her or something. She giggled, trying to hold it in as her hips were attacked. She jumped up, trying to grab Drew into a headlock, she missed and fell back onto her stool. "Damnit!" Indy screwed her mouth up but it soon turned into a cheeky little smile. Drew asked her to introduce him to Adrien, Indy rolled her eyes. "Ok ok calm down Sherlock Holmes, he's right here..." Indy stood between the two, Drew towered over both of them. "Adrien meet Drew, Drew meet Adrien." Indy smiled, shrugging her shoulders lightly. [ooc: 995 words lmao!!! She comes so naturally to me!]

It had been three months since Indy had entered the Electric Booth at the Sullivan Bros. Carnival. Adrien, then new with his power tracking ability, had noticed something different about her. She was gorgeous, sure, which had always attracted his attention, but there was something unusual about her that disturbed the usual boring scam of his business. As his powers focused, he recognized those brilliant rainbow colors swarming around her. He had recognized she was a special (a stunning special at that) with an ability. The power absorber was intrigued, yes, but after telling Samuel, was forcefully assigned to track her and try to persuasively convince her to join the family. Although Adrien loathed activities such as their own version of ‘bagging and tagging,’ he was forced to obey the head of their ‘family.’ Adrien, of course, maxed his charm with a brush of seductive cologne and smooth, charismatic mannerisms. Of course, he wasn’t a bad looking cat, and sooner or later the electrokinetic had managed to garner her phone number.
It was merely casual dating in the beginning, with Adrien masterfully playing his role as the mysterious, charming, and gentlemanly role Samuel assigned him. Of course, after a few dates this became who he was, rubbing off into his personal life to make a man with two different personalities. After a few months he had come to genuinely enjoy Indy’s company; she was sweet, fun and sassy, indirectly bringing Adrien out of his complicated, disturbed psychological state. Of course, he never let her know that. The dating was a little more serious now, but nothing quite final or even long-term. She was beautiful, of course, and Adrien found himself quite physically attracted to her traits, but in the end this was commanded by Samuel. Of course, this didn’t stop him from enjoying her company, friendship and features his eyes could not help but to gaze over. He had actually come to like Indy. Perhaps it was partially lust, yes, and partially just an assignment, yes, but it was also partially a friendship that was becoming almost as real as he played it as.
Adrien sat on the barstool at the bar counter, dressed in a black leather jacket, dark skinny jeans, a Led Zeppelin white t-shirt and black Cons. His eyeliner was lighter, but still noticeable, every dark line applied masterfully to his eyelids, providing a lightly sexual, darker tone to his outfit. His streaky blonde hair was messily styled with some wax product, shining dimly in the dull bar lights, with a touch of seductive cologne applied to his neck, giving off a musky, alluring aroma. He leaned over the bar, looking up towards the television with boredom. He raised his glass bottle full of beer to his lips, taking a fluent gulp of the bitterly pungent liquid, feeling the soothing taste sate his thirst. He was waiting for Indy to arrive for a date, however. It appeared that she was running late, about fifteen minutes later than she told him to arrive. It was no matter, however; Adrien was preparing for the date. She had wanted to introduce Adrien to her best friend at her garage, Andrew, and the carnie was feeling a little uneasy. It was one thing to establish a charming connection with one person, but it sounded like from Indy’s descriptions of Andrew was that he was protective and uneasy about her relationship with Adrien. That was the last thing Adrien needed. However, he complied with her decision, not wanting to cause any uncertainty, conflict or suspicion of his reluctance.
He suddenly felt the warm, sensuous touch of Indy’s lips lightly press against his cheek, and he smirked gently. He turned to her with a grin, taking in her appearance. She looked absolutely stunning tonight. He also noticed her wearing a darker shade of eyeliner than usual, which brought pleasant feelings to Adrien. He playfully kissed her on the cheek back, feeling her soft cheek touch his lips before he pulled back. “Only for you, babe,” he said playfully, his blue irises flickering behind his dark eyelids. "Drew sure knows how to pick 'em,” Indy said to Adrien while buying a beer from the bar. “I would agree,” Adrien said with a charismatic smirk, raising the beer bottle and taking a drink, “I am looking forward to meeting one of your best friends. See what he’s like, and why he’s lucky enough to have you as a friend.”
He looked back right before he saw a dark-haired man, apparently Drew, squeeze Indy’s sides gently. Although he knew Drew and Indy shared a strong friendship, Adrien felt a bit jealous watching the man physically touch Indy, even with it being playful. Although he wasn’t strongly protective or controlling over what Indy did, the jealousy was perhaps an accumulation of the time he had spent with her. He felt his eyes flash a dark gaze before returning to his charming, unruffled persona. "Told you it wouldn't take me long to get here, so are you going to introduce me then or what?" The man said this playfully towards Indy before turning towards Adrien. Adrien looked at the man and immediately felt like he recognized him. Anger and bitterness and slight fear rose through Adrien’s veins, but he could not place it in a specific reason. He felt all this hate towards Drew, but he didn’t even know why. His face was so familiar, yet Adrien failed to recognize who he was. He didn’t know where this emotion came from, but he decided it was best to act as if everything was normal. He was excellent at concealing his emotions when he wanted to, which was evident in his calm, enigmatic demeanor.
He saw Indy fall off her barstool and he automatically got off his seat, concernedly looking down at her before watching her breaking into a cute, little smile. “You okay, Indy?” he asked, reaching down his hand to help her up. She seemed to be okay, but he just wanted to make sure. He helped her off the ground before she made a witty remark to Drew’s playful comment, then introducing the two to each other. “Adrien,” he said softly, his blue eyes gazing into the irises of Drew, analyzing any emotion behind his eyes, careful to not express any emotion or surprise at the familiar face. He was still trying to deduct who it was. He reached for a handshake, his hand covered in three rings and a marker drawing from the day before tattooed onto his knuckles. “Glad to finally make your acquaintance.”

On the way to the Royal Oak Bar, Drew almost had a bit of a mental breakdown, as he had a fight with his heart over feelings for Indy Harrison. Indy was his work colleague, she was his best friend. They knew everything about each other, yet it was clear he wasn't happy when Indy started dating. However, he couldn't say anything about it, it wasn't as if Indy was his girl, yet somehow the fact she had began dating this guy was tearing him up inside and he couldn't figure out why. He was insanely jealous, he just didn't realise it, yet. Even when his head told him to face facts that he loved Indy, he refused to believe it.
So he made his way into the bar and the first thing he had done, was grab Indy's sides and squeezed them, tickling her a little and then he chuckled. This was something they did often, mess around with each other. So Indy had jumped up and tried to get him into a headlock but missed and fell back onto her stool. Drew just chuckled catching that cheeky smile of hers. "What happened there Indy? Too much to drink already?" He winked, and then he had asked if she was going to introduce him or what.
He had to laugh at Indy's response. "Hey, you were the one who wanted me to 'check him out'." He used his fingers for quotation marks around the words check him out, but he was grinning and still winking at her. Then she continued, saying that he was right there. Once Indy stepped aside, Drew was able to get a much better look at him, and he was still sure he knew him from somewhere, but still couldn't really place it.
Indy spoke then introducing them, Drew watched as Adrien held his hand out for Drew to shake. He looked down at the hand, and he could have sworn he recognised the rings on his hand. Again, like Adrien's face, he wasn't sure where he knew them from. He shook the hand a little apprehensive. "Drew, and likewise." Once he actually made contact with Adrien, a flash of the past entered into Drew's head, and he abruptly let go of Adrien's hand. It couldn't be him could it?
The flash he saw was of the guy who had attacked his baby sister all those years ago, and then stabbed Drew. Those eyes of Adrien's, the longer Drew looked into them, the more he knew he'd seen them before, and with another flash of the past, he now began to wonder if Adrien was the one who had attacked his baby sister and ultimately stabbed him, and if he was, then Drew was definitely not happy about Indy dating him.
However, because he still wasn't a hundred percent sure, he decided not to act on it. "So, what's your poison?" He asked Adrien and then turned to Indy, "Can I get you something to drink?" When he got a response, he turned to the barman and placed their orders, along with a beer for himself. He then headed to the bar stool beside Indy and sat down on it. A few seconds later Drew was sipping on his beer. He kept side glancing to Adrien, something inside was telling him not to trust him.
"So, Adrien, what do you do for a living, and how did you meet m..." He trailed off, he almost said 'my Indy' and just realised on time what he was saying. He coughed, trying to cover up the fact he was going to say something and quickly changed his mind. "Sorry about that, how did you meet Indy?"

As Indy almost skipped into the bar, she quickly noticed Adrien through the crowd of University students and regulars, he always stood out in a crowd. It was because he was different, strangely different not nicely different like Drew. Strange, Indy just noticed that; Drew always stood out, like he had an aurora around him, something special. She shrugged the thought off and continued to make her way to Ade. When she kissed him, she didn't expect him to kiss her back, landing a satisfied smile on her face. Indy loved his eyes, they were almost mesmerizing; that deep shade of blue. And she smiled again when he said it would be good to meet one of her friends, and why Drew was lucky enough for that privilege. "Yeah, he's totally awesome Ade, my best friend. I think you'll get along fine."
When Drew came in, he had that aurora around him. That one she could spot anywhere, no matter how busy. Her shoulders relaxed slightly as she thought of best friend being here, it somehow felt relieving and she didn't know why, it wasn't like Adrien would hurt her. The playfulness between Indy and Drew was something that came natural to them, it had always been there, even since they first met. She jumped up to grab him in a headlock and ended up falling back into her seat. Adrien asked if she was alright, she nodded. "Ah yeah, lanky there is just too damn tall is all." Drew chuckled, asking her if she had had too much to drink already. His wink made her grin, "Oh yeah, seeing as I'm the only one driving tonight! God." She rolled her eyes.
It was strange when she introduced them both. The pair of them seemed to freeze in time, just staring at each other. Adrien spoke briefly, being his usual, charming, polite self. Drew however was not quite so polite. Indy could tell when Drew wasn't impressed with people, and she could tell that right now. But he still shook Adrien's hand, and Indy nodded at him, frowning slightly. ' Why's he acting so strange?' She thought to herself, taking another sip of her beer as the awkward silence fell over them. If it was going to be like this all night, Indy would need more than one drink. She downed the rest of her beer when Drew asked Adrien what his poison was, her best friend then turned to her and asked if she wanted something to drink. "Another beer wouldn't go a miss Drew." She burped quietly, "Oh excuse me, how disgusting!" She grinned to herself, obviously finding it funny.
Indy soon found herself in between both men; Drew on her right, and Adrien on her left. She kept drinking, barely stopping in between gulps. Drew asked Adrien what he did for a living and how the pair of them met. Indy of course, being Indy, went to speak, "Carnival!" She exclaimed, slamming her second, now empty beer on the counter. "When I had a night off, Carnival was outside of town so I decided to go. Good times." She spoke so quickly, she felt a little light headed. This was awkward, there was something wrong here. She didn't want to know what it was, or maybe she did. But whatever it was, she couldn't see these two getting on, despite having anything in common, despite Indy herself. It was such a strong feeling, she ordered herself another beer to drown out the thoughts in her head.

The name Drew failed to bring any memories back into Adrien’s mind. It was a frustrating feeling, spite without apparent reason. He felt these hostile feelings towards Indy’s friend without apparently having met him before. However, something in Drew’s face felt strangely familiar. The more Adrien tried to decrypt his emotions, the more he felt uncomfortable. Adrien always felt uncomfortable when he felt he had lost control of the situation. Thankfully, Drew didn’t seem to be overly alarmed, so Adrien assumed he was in the dark as well. The one advantage Adrien had was that while Drew was genuinely being himself, Adrien had created a false mannequin parading around in his body. Who he appeared to be was very different than who he actually was, which put him at the clear advantage. The trick was to keep this factor in play at all moments, hopefully minimizing any potential impact or damage this strange event would have on his mission issued by Samuel.
Adrien reached out and shook Drew’s warm hand, which from the feeling of it felt apprehensive. In a flash, however, Drew quickly let go of his hand, with a facial expression that suggested sudden shock or epiphany. Adrien immediately tensed up, quickly observing the Drew’s face with strong interest, studying it to see if anything had changed the situation or otherwise compromised his agenda. This situation was getting more and more risky at the moment, causing an uneasy air to fill Adrien’s concious demeanor. However, he knew he couldn’t afford to lose face in front of Indy. Desertion or abnormal action would cause a rise of suspicion, which was the last thing he needed. Being excellent at acting and deception, Ade decided to play it cool and look up towards the television screen briefly, his deep blue eyes flickering away from the smoldering pierce of Drew’s dark brown gaze. He then smirked nonchalantly before hopping back onto his barstool, taking his beer glass to his lips and inhaling the cold, frothy liquid.
“Just a Corona at the moment,” the electrokinetic replied with a slightly smirk, putting the near empty bottle down on the table. “I’m not a huge drinker, actually. Never really was, actually. I take ‘hol in mild doses, but tonight Indy said that I can have a little fun,” he ended with a devilish grin. This was one of the lies that Adrien had created during his time with Indy. This was completely different from his actual personality, who loved to indulge in large amounts of alcohol, drugs and sex. However, being forced to take this mission, he was also required by Samuel to wean off alcohol so he could play his role even better. The trial and temptation had been painful, yes, but the benefits of Indy’s company and respecting the head of his ‘family’ was worth it. “How about you, Drew? What kind of ‘hol do you like?” He immediately noticed Drew’s obvious side glances to Adrien. Inside, Adrien was tense, just waiting for any sort of hostile action that could compromise the mission. If so, Adrien was warned to get the hell out of there.
Adrien immediately noticed Drew had almost said ‘My Indy.’ Adrien felt even more uncomfortable and on edge, although it was not apparent in any of his actions. Just from the minutes of interaction, Adrien had noticed something other than friendship brewing between the two. It was quite obvious to the observer, although the two may have been unaware. He felt quite on guard and defensive, as if he had to keep Indy on a leash while still maintaining a cool, careless demeanor. All these thoughts and emotions were running through his head, but on the outside he displayed a charming, emotionless mannerism, grinning slightly as was about to answer. However, Indy, amidst a burp, which Adrien ignored, interrupted his response. "When I had a night off, Carnival was outside of town so I decided to go. Good times."
“That’s pretty much it, to be honest, Drew,” he said with a small laugh, taking the beer bottle to his lips and sipping the last of it, downing the last drop as he gently placed the empty bottle on the bar counter. He then motioned to the bartender for a new beer, which the bartender placed on the counter with a quick snap of the cap. Adrien raised the glass in a form of cheers, smirking slightly before downing the liquid, placing the half-drunk bottle back onto the counter. “I work at a Carnival, you see. Yeah, I know, pretty sucky job, right?” He laughed with an acted good-nature. His ability to deceive with appearance and personality was extraordinary, really. “But anyways, I was working an Electric Booth and Indy came into it. I dunno, I guess she was in love with my pretty face,” he said with a mock pretty boy face, then smiling, “But we just clicked and it soon led to exchanging numbers. Pretty crazy story, huh?” He shrugged his shoulders before turning his barstool to look into Drew’s face, which seemed both haunted and uneasily upset by Adrien’s presence. The carnie wanted Indy to see the situation like he painted it, however; Drew was quite frankly rude while Adrien tried to make the best of the situation with politeness and good-natured humor.

When Indy had fallen back when she'd tried to get him in a headlock, he was almost about to catch her, but realised, it really wasn't his place, even though it killed him for some reason to see Adrien help her up instead. When Indy spoke saying she was fine, Drew couldn't help but laugh out loud when she said lanky was just too tall. He shook his head, "Oh, I see how it is, it's me whose too tall, it's not because you're a midget?" He patted the top of her head then, in a mocking way, but was still laughing. This was just another side to their teasing, it wasn't just physical teasing, it was verbal teasing as well.
When Drew teased her again about being drunk already, he knew she wouldn't be able to get drunk, because she had to drive home, the bar he had chosen was only moments away from where he lived. Drew then suggested something, which was a natural enough thing for him to say to his friend, but didn't stop to think about how it would sound in front of Indy's boyfriend Adrien. "Well if driving's all your worried about Indy Anna..." He knew her middle name and often used it to tease her, "...you can always come and sleep in my spare room." It wouldn't be the first time Indy had stayed with him, when they had a movie watching night, and she'd got too drunk to drive home.
When Indy introduced him to Adrien, Drew was certain he recognised him somehow, but couldn't place it. Something about him just didn't sit well with Drew, but not wanting to spoil the night, especially not so soon into the night, he apprehensively shook Adrien's hand. That was when he saw the rings, and could have sworn he recognised them also. He had then got a couple of flashes of the past when his sister had been attacked and he was ultimately stabbed, but looking at Adrien, he couldn't quite get a connection.
After a short moment he had then asked Adrien what his poison was and could he get anything for Indy to drink. Indy had said another beer wouldn't go a miss and then she burped and laughed saying how rude it was. Drew just chuckled and winked at her followed by one of his famous grins. "Sure thing." Drew couldn't help but think that Indy had decided she could stay at his place after all. Adrien asked for a corona, and Drew, still not wanting to cause trouble, smiled at the both of them, yet inside he was deeply troubled looking at Adrien. He then listened as Adrien went on about not being much of a drinker. Somehow Drew didn't believe that, but he let it wash over him.
"I can imagine Indy said you could have fun, she quite often agrees to be the driver, when we go out for a drink. Lucky for Indy, we always come here, and she can get as drunk as a skunk if she likes, because I just carry her back to my place." Alright, so not all of that was quite true, but she had drank more than she should a couple of times and had to crash in his spare room, and he didn't usually have to carry her home either. Yet, somehow, he couldn't help but tease a little.
Adrien then asked Drew what he liked to drink, "Anything I feel like at the time, but usually beer." Drew then ordered their drinks, and seconds later, he had handed Indy and Adrien their drink and was soon sipping on his own. Drew had then asked Adrien how the two of them had met, he had aimed the question at Adrien, because something inside him was still trying to work out why he didn't trust Adrien, but Indy had actually answered his question before Adrien began to speak.
Drew just smiled at Indy, but he was still waiting for Adrien to speak, and soon enough he was. He more or less agreed with what Indy had just told him about how they met. Drew watched as Adrien downed the rest of his beer and motioned to the barman for another. Drew was only about half way through the beer he had bought himself, and continued to sip it as he listened to Adrien talk about his job at the carnival with much interest.
He soon shook his head slowly, "Not that sucky, carnivals can be fun, depends what you do of course. Being the one who gets dunked in the water tank, now that would suck." Please let me be the one to do it, he thought to himself, and then snapped out of it. He still wasn't sure why he was feeling hostile toward this guy, he just knew he didn't trust him, and it wasn't just because of his own 'supposed' feelings for Indy, no it was something else.
Adrien continued to talk about how Indy came into his Electric Booth, and how Indy was in love with his pretty face. Drew was completely straight, but he could tell why girls would fall for Adrien, he nodded his head then. "So, sparks flew, literally?" Drew said, trying to throw a joke, and chuckled slightly. It was all he could think of to do, given that he simply couldn't bring himself to trust Adrien, no matter how hard he tried.
He looked right into Adrien's eyes then, and as he did so, he got another flash of memory, and that's when he knew his earlier suspicions had been right. He looked down apprehensively at the hand, those rings, looked back up again, those eyes. Drew then closed his own, going back to that day, when the knife went into him, he clutched at his abdomen and his eyes shot open again, and he just stared at Adrien, then in barely a whisper, "You."

Drew usually called Indy names, it didn't bother her, they usually teased each other like crazy. "Me? A midget?! At least I don't look like the jolly green giant!" He patted the top of her head, and she punched him in the gut, it was light and playful. It was a few minutes later Indy stated that she couldn't drink anymore. It actually surprised her when Drew offered her to stay at his. In fact it made her gulp as she looked at Adrien. She didn't even catch on that he had called her Indy Anna. She usually always picked up on that. To make sure Adrien wasn't uncomfortable, she placed her hand on his, tracing the lines of his hand.
Indy watched the two men curiously. Drew, her best friend and the biggest sweetheart you could find was now acting like... the bad guy. He had changed, a change Indy had only ever seen once before. It wasn't the fondest of memories. Mind you, it was far better than the whole parents thing. The thought made her eyes widen for a moment, before she shivered violently. She shook her head and continued to sip her beer, thinking of the angry Drew she had once seen before.
It had been a quiet day at the garage, nothing more than usual breakdowns and repairs being made. Drew was out fetching coffee for the both of them; a caramel mocha for Indy and a cappuccino for himself. Indy always did have a sweet tooth, she usually made him buy cookies or biscuits to go with them, but today the thought had slipped her mind. Indy was leant over an old Chevrolet truck, fixing the oil inside as well as polishing the engine. She heard the old wooden door open, the familiar creek not startling her. "Well that was quick!" She shouted to who she thought was Drew. It wasn't.
The lights began flickering on and off, she knew Drew wouldn't do that. Not after what happened to her parents. She jumped back, pulling her overalls over her shoulders whilst still gripping the wrench she was holding. "Who is it?" She heard unfamiliar chuckles. "My boss will be back soon, you better leave." Two silhouettes appeared in the now darkened garage, only little beams of sunlight shone through the windows either end of the garage. Without though she screamed as loudly as she could. The two silhouettes jumped towards her, wrestling her to the ground. She wriggled and kicked. "Little bitch!" One of the men stood and kicked her in her gut, making her breathless. It was then, the wooden door creaked open again, and she saw her angel standing there.
Although she was winded, Indy saw the pure rage, the pure hatred and anger in her best friend. It scared her more than both men put together. Drew was an animal, he was fearless and not afraid of his own strength. Indy curled up into a ball, just like she did when her parents were killed. She shivered non stop for the next few days, as if she were in a coma. She never wanted to see him like that again...
Seeing him become more and more agitated was worrying her. Again Drew put his foot in it and continued talking about all the times they got drunk together and he carried her home. She stamped on Drew's foot, scowling at him. "You've never carried me back to yours!" She sounded hurt. Why was he ruining this? She didn't care Adrien and her would probably never last. But she didn't approve of Drew's bad and quite frankly embarrasing manners.
Drew then bought herself and Adrien another drink, winding the tension in air down a bit. But Indy was still wound up tight, she felt awful. 'Great idea sunshine.' She thought to herself. She didn't even pay attention as the two men spoke to each other awkwardly. Why was this so much worse than she thought it would be? Indy actually thought they would get on. When she did eventually snap out of her own mind, she heard Drew make a joke about the electric booth Adrien worked. She didn't laugh, she just stared at him.
Then everything changed from bad to worse. Drew's eyes grew angry again, then they closed. Indy noticed him clutch his abdomen as if he was reliving being stabbed. She reached out for him, but then his eyes shot open again and he was glaring at the man next to her. "You." He whispered. "What?" She asked, frowning in confusion. "What is it? What's wrong?" Her eyes were concerned suddenly, had she upset him. Why did he mutter 'you'? Did he know Adrien? All these questions made her down the rest of her beer. Drink was currently the only answer.

Adrien was feeling a little defensive over Drew’s flirtatious-ridden comments directed towards Indy. Indy put her gentle, beautiful hand on Adrien’s, tracing his hand as he relaxed. He inwardly hated the vibes and mannerisms of this Drew character, but he would be friendly for Indy’s sake. He smiled at the comment Indy Anna, mentally shrugging it off. Even though Indy was a ‘mission,’ he still harbored a sense of protection and even the foundation for feelings, which sparked a jealousy within him. Indy and Drew’s friendship was a little too friendly…
“Trust me, brother,” black-eyelined Adrien said with a smirk, “carnivals gigs can get old eventually. Doing the same gig over and over… not much excitement there, to be honest. Now working with cars… that’s a cool gig. A new car, new adventure each time. Sounds like something I’d always want to do.” He shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly afterwards, suggesting a faint wisp of longing for something other than the boring carnival coverup. The family benefits were invaluable, of course, but Adrien got tired of his daily chores and trivial responsibilities. The only reason he chose to stay, in reality, was to wait for the time traveler he was supposed to kill or absorb the power from. His future self told him it was the only way to save ‘her.’ For his future self to come back showed that it was an important mission, and that he would have to do whatever it took to save this person.
Adrien brushed back a strand of his streaky blonde hair out of his baby blue eyes, smiling in response to Drew’s comical remark. “Yeah, it pretty much sucks to be the guy who gets water dunked,” the electrokinetic said with a small laugh, raising his beer bottle in a quick cheers before downing the cold, frothy liquid down his throat, feeling a slight fire jump out of his throat. Drew then cracked another joke which Adrien respectfully laughed at. He hated puns and trivial humor, but it was the social norm and common courtesy to laugh at other people’s jokes. Through subtleties like the former, Adrien was slowly blending in with society and imitating one of them. He would hate to be ‘normal,’ but it was necessary to portray and deceive to complete his at-hand mission. Little mannerisms and responses such as this helped Adrien pull of a completely mastered disguise.
The blonde haired carnie looked over to Drew, and suddenly saw a flash of dark anger rise underneath those deep brown eyes. He suddenly saw a burst of red light swarm him. He was a special too? What the fuck! ran through Adrien’s head, noticing Drew’s sudden adrenaline releasing the pheromones of special abilities. He immediately sensed something was wrong in the situation, and that Drew had recognized something Adrien didn’t… Adrien suddenly felt uneasy. “You,” the mechanic growled as he clutched his abdomen, his voice nay raising over a bare whisper. Adrien got chills up his usually collected spine. He had a power, too… and he was obviously pissed off at Adrien. For Indy’s sake, Adrien was outwardly cool and normal, but inside there was a turmoil of confusion and defensive mental shields. He wasn’t sure what he was messing with.
Indy was apparently confused and asked what was wrong. Adrien, in complete honesty, had no idea what the graveness of the situation was. “Is something wrong, Drew?” he asked with a friendly inquiry, wariness creeping inside his hesitant motion. He was still trying to keep his cool and disguise, but it was chilling to see Indy’s friend in such a dark mood.

{ooc - so sorry to have kept you waiting for this thread, it's unlike me to be so far behind - just had a crap few times, health wise and basically not getting on enough}
Drew couldn't do anything but laugh out loud when Indy teased him right back, saying at least she didn't look like the jolly green giant. It was typical of the way the two of them behaved, and when he had patted her on the head, she had playfully punched him in the gut. He doubled up in pretend pain and smirked at her. He had then offered her to stay at his place when she said she couldn't drink anymore. He hadn't meant to take the teasing so far, but he found during Adrien's company it was something he simply couldn't help but do, even though at this moment in time, he had no idea why.
When Adrien said that carnivals weren't that fun and could get old eventually, Drew just shrugged his shoulders back a little, he could only imagine it would get like that. Then Adrien went on to say that it was a cool gig working with cars, having a different one every day to work on. Drew, had to smile at that one, because he loved working in his garage and making his customers happy when he and Indy fixed the cars. "Yeah, I suppose you're right about that, I have to admit."
As Drew's mood changed, even though at first he wasn't quite aware of it, Indy went quiet on the both of them. Drew who would normally have been very aware of this, was too busy trying to figure out why Adrien was so familiar to him to notice how quiet she had gotten. If he hadn't been so caught up, he probably would have already asked what was on her mind, why was she so quiet. He had no idea she was thinking back to the time when she had been attacked at the garage when he'd gone to get them some refreshments, and had lost his temper, in order to make sure Indy was safe.
Of course Indy had bad memories of shouting and violence and didn't like it, which Drew was well aware of and after that incident had tried never to loose his cool in front of her again. But somehow, with Adrien, he was finding it very difficult to do just that, keep his cool. However, instead of losing his temper, he took it out in teasing instead, nasty teasing, which was actually very unlike Drew, but alarm bells were ringing, and something was telling him not to trust this guy.
When Indy stamped on his foot and scowled at him, he began to realise, probably a little too late, he had taken the teasing a little too far. He laughed a little, "Alright, I'm sorry, I haven't carried you back, that was a white lie, but we've had to lean on each other a few times, you can't deny that one?" That one was true, many a time either Indy was going to fall over, or he was, so they would end up leaning on each for support until they reached his house. Of course, Drew would give up his double bed for Indy while he slept on the sofa, but he'd failed to say that little piece of information.
When Drew had made a joke about the electric booth where Adrien had worked, he had hoped it might lighten the mood a little, but apparently it didn't as he saw Indy glare at him. Maybe it might be best, if he just left, he couldn't be comfortable around this guy, and if it was upsetting Indy, it wasn't fair on her, and yet, something compelled him to stay, because he didn't trust this guy. Which was silly in a way, because Indy had been with him often enough by herself now, surely if Adrien was going to do anything daft, he'd have done it by now?
Then suddenly Drew realised why Adrien was so familiar to him, as he clutched the area where he had been stabbed all those years ago. The look of concern on Indy's face was clear to see, as she struggled to find her words and ask him what was wrong. Adrien had then asked him, if there was something wrong. Drew stared right through him, having to keep control of his inner animal. Drew's main form was that of a Labrador dog, but he could change into a few vicious animals, and right now, changing into a wolf wasn't too far from his mind. "Oh, you're about to find out."
He really hadn't wanted to ruin Indy's night, but the soon as he realised why he knew this guy, why he felt uncomfortable around him, his protective instincts kicked in, and he turned to face Indy. "He's the one Indy, he's the one who attacked my baby sister all those years ago and stabbed me, almost killing me. It's him. It took me a few minutes to realise, but that ring, it's so unforgettable, it's him." The look of horror on Drew's face, would be all the proof Indy needed to know that he was indeed telling the truth.

Indy grinned at Adrien when he commented on how cars were a cool gig. “Yeah they are, mind you imagine living in a carnival, it'd be so damn fun! Not to mention all you can eat popcorn! I still remember that guy giving me a box as I wondered around.” Indy smiled at the memory, she sipped her beer and held Adrien's hand tighter. It was strange, usually, no matter who or what she would side with Drew. Now... she couldn't help but be leaning away from him.
It wasn't long before Indy went quiet. Everything swarmed around her head suddenly; the past, the present, everything. She wanted to call Alex, tell him she needed him to come get her and take her away from this madness. Alex was one of the only people in the world besides Drew who could calm Indy down; when the two were travelling the World, Alex was the only one to help Indy through her nightmares. Now she rarely had them.
Drew laughed a little after Indy stamped on his foot and scowled at him. “Yes we have, but what best friends haven't had to lean on each other when they're drunk?” She sighed and shook her head. It was then she slipped back into her silence and began contemplating everything. Before she knew it, Drew had turned. He was suddenly the shifter, not the human. She asked what was wrong, as did Adrien. “About to find out? Drew, what the effin' hell?” Indy then got up from the stool and stood between both her best friend and her... whatever Ade was. She placed a hand on Drew's chest, “Stop.” She said quietly, her eyes wide with both fear, confusion and anger.
Indy looked up at Drew, her eyes fixated on his mouth as he spoke. “It's him...” Indy looked at Adrien and gasped. Drew wouldn't lie about something like that, it wasn't in his nature to nor would Indy ever forgive him if he did lie about something so serious. “Adrien... you... your...” She couldn't speak, she was shaking. If she got too upset or angry, she would automatically shift without thinking to. “I can't...” She pushed away from both of them and ran out the door. She had brought Drew's attacker, she had attracted the type of man she swore never to. Tears began falling down her face, leaving eye-liner down her cheeks.

The look of terror on her face puzzled Adrien beyond all imagination. In a little fragment of a moment, everything had changed. Adrien had shifted from being the polite, ‘new’ boyfriend to the enemy. He wanted to know what Drew said, and what the two could have possibly talked about to draw to this conclusion that Adrien was this ‘you’; this hated ‘you.’
She stormed out of the bar, and Adrien tried to hold onto her, wanting to explain this apparent miscommunication. Drew was being a jealous fucking asshole. Was this all an elaborate scheme to get Indy away from Adrien? The mechanic was freaking out for no explained reason, staring at Adrien as if he was some sort of terrorist or mass murderer. The carnie was completely unaware at what was taking place, unaware of the violent deeds he had committed towards Drew and his then-young sister.
“Indy, please, wait! I don’t know what he’s talking about, but let me explain!” He called out to no avail. She had already left the room, tears of betrayal running down her face. Unlike his normal, advantageous, charismatic self, Adrien could clearly see he no longer had the upper hand.
In a sudden spin of events, he was apparently now the evil one. What he would have to do in order to explain himself to Indy was not the top agenda running through his mind. He wanted to confront this Drew character before he chased after her. She clearly was convinced he was some sort of criminal, and he would have to clear it up. Samuel would never forgive him if he let this slip through his fingers. And Adrien needed to complete this assignment if he was to be ever allowed to ‘hunt’ for new specials. What was more, he was actually starting to value Indy as a person. All this was being ended… by Drew.
Static formed in his hand under the bar counter, anger rushing through his blood as his eyes flickered with electric green sparks. An expression of dark anger coursed over the carnie’s face. If he was not in a public setting, he would have killed the confrontational mechanic here on the spot. One charge of extreme electricity would have not only taken out the whole power grid, but incinerated Drew’s very body. “What the fucking hell is wrong with you, you goddamn ass?! I have no idea who the living fuck is ‘you,’ but I’m not who you think I am! I-“
Suddenly he remembered. The flash of memories seared into his mind.
He remembered everything. The assignment and the very knife the plunged into both Drew and his sister’s flesh. A dark grin suddenly appeared on Adrien’s face. “Drew Collins,” he said with an evil grin, static forming in his hands, still hidden from the general view as adrenaline rushed through his veins. He felt dark hatred surge through his body, energy pulsing through his veins as he felt like burning Drew to the ground. He had ruined Adrien’s relationship with Indy, and now he was going to pay. Adrien would have his retribution, regardless of what reprimand or punishment he got from Samuel, or any of the other carnies, for the matter.
"I remember you. I also remember your little sister… and how she screamed when I stabbed her. I bet you remember that too…” he laughed eerily, tightening his knuckles as static jumped around his fists. “You’re going to fucking pay, Drew, for ruining my plans. I’m not only going to kill you, but I’m going to get Indy back,” he stated in a mere whisper, eyes glazed with manic hatred, “And then I’m going to plunge a knife into your sister, this time for good. And I'll hear that pretty little shriek again." He laughed again, looking around to people, unnoticing of his violent speech. “Don’t worry,” he said with another dark chuckle, “I won’t make her death too slow.”

Drew hated being the way he was just now, but he just knew there was something about Adrien he didn't like or trust. Drew wasn't the type of person to take an instant dislike to someone, but he had with Adrien. Something, he just didn't trust about the guy. He knew his behaviour would be killing Indy and he tried to behave, he really did, but it was hopeless. The longer they were in each other's company, the worse the feelings got. As Indy and Adrien spoke, Drew just looked down at his feet. This was really awkward, he'd almost wished he hadn't come. Not only was this evening probably going to cost him a potential girlfriend, and good friend, it was going to cost him a good worker. He had to pull himself together, for Indy's sake if nothing else.
After Indy had stamped on his foot and he'd laughed, he felt really bad for the way he had been acting when she spoke. "I know that Indy, I'm sorry." He really was, he was never a jerk around Indy, he had found it impossible to act like that in her company, but with this guy, it was just different, and he'd found it was all involuntary and out of his control, not that Indy would believe him. "I was just messing around, obviously it never came out right." He gave her those puppy dog eyes of his which usually worked on her, but somehow, the way he had behaved so far this evening, he doubted it was going to work.
Not long after that, Drew remembered everything and knew why he had taken an instant dislike to Adrien, he was the guy who had stabbed him, after trying to protect his baby sister at the time. He hadn't lost his temper, but he wasn't exactly keeping his cool much either. Both Indy and Adrien asked him what was wrong, and he'd said they were about to find out. Indy's reaction was pretty typical, he soon felt her hand on his chest as she stood between the two of them, telling him to stop.
He was able to calm down just a little, as he then told the both of them why he was so wound up. Drew would never lie and Indy would know that. He was still feeling bad about ruining the night for her, but if he hadn't told her, and she found out herself later, she'd be even more annoyed at him for keeping the information back from him, of that he was sure. Drew then could only watch on in an upset state as Indy struggled over her words and then pushed by the both of them to leave the bar. Drew's gut reaction was to go after her, but he heard Adrien plead her to stay. This got up Drew's anger.
"You don't get to talk to her, you don't get to plead her to come back. Do you really think I'd let her be in your life knowing what you did?" He wasn't shouting by any means, but his voice was firm, angry and full of hate as he just continued to stare right through the guy who had almost killed him and his sister all those years ago. What annoyed Drew all the more was Adrien saying he didn't know what Drew was talking about. "I'm sure if you think long and hard enough, you'll remember." Drew spat the words out in so much hate. When Indy had failed to come back, Adrien soon turned on Drew, which was only to be expected, but Drew's main concern right then was to go out after Indy.
He started rambling on asking what was wrong with Drew, calling him a goddamn ass, but then he trailed off, and Drew, still staring right through him, knew he had finally clicked on what he was talking about. The way Adrien said his name, took him back to that day once again, and Drew began to shake and shiver with fear. It wasn't often someone could get him like that, but this guy could. The ramble of words which followed, were breaking Drew's heart. He knew now that he had to protect his family more than ever. After Adrien's ramblings had finished, Drew became stronger from within, and moved closer to him, and began to point a finger in his chest.
"You'll never get Indy back, and I'll make sure you don't come anywhere near my family again. Have you got it? I could take you down right now if I really wanted to, but I'm better than that. Right now, my only concern is the girl you just chased out of here, the same girl who should be your main concern, but no. You just had to spout off all that nonsense about killing me, getting Indy back and killing my sister. Well, good luck with that. You're just not worth my time and energy." With that Drew about turned and ran out of the bar.
The strength he'd found to confront Adrien like that was now gone, and his heart was beating louder than a base drum, it was beating so hard, he thought it was going to burst. It was a wonder he could even run to catch Indy, his legs were like jelly now. Having that evening brought back to him was worse than anything he could have imagined in a long time. He finally reached Indy who was in a bit of a state. "Indy. Indy." He managed to say her name a couple of times, so she'd know it was him, and then he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him.
"It's alright Indy, it's not your fault. You didn't know. I don't blame you. I'm just really sorry I ruined your night. But I knew there was something about him I just didn't trust." He kept his arms around her holding her tight, as he instinctively kissed the top of her head, without even thinking about what he was doing. All he cared about right then, was making sure Indy was safe and not blaming herself. The soon as he felt Adrien was gone, he would take Indy back inside, and they could have a few drinks to calm their nerves.
