Jo was concentrating on trying to calm herself down, and heard Stefan asked Damon why he always turned the conversation to low grounds. She had missed what Damon had said, but soon realised what Stefan was referring to, when he said that he couldn't believe that Damon had watched them. Jo's heart started to raise a little then, feeling anger inside her. She looked around the kitchen, trying to understand why he would have done that. Damon then said that he had to see what his brother was up to. Jo's eyes diverted in the direction of the lounge room, where Stefan had pushed Damon. She swallowed, and then had a disturbing thought. How much time had Damon been spending outside of her apartment? How much of what she had been doing had he seen? The thought of him watching her coming out of the shower was enough to make her regain her strength, and just punch him one.
When Stefan came back to put the pendant back around her neck, he had obviously heard what she had said. All Jo could do was nod short and slow, trying to calm herself down more, seeing she had gotten angry over Damon watching her and Stefan make love that first night. It was just making her sick all the more, thinking about it. Jo knew that she would have to mention how she was feeling about that little piece of information later, once the scum that is Damon Winchester was gone.
Once more, Jo sat, trying to put herself back to normal, as Stefan and Damon continued to converse. After a few moments, Jo started to listen a bit more, and then heard something that made her instantly turn her head and look in Stefan's direction. He commented about Damon having to wait a long time for him to have another girl come along, as his heart belongs to her, now and for eternity. Jo had never, ever, heard that come out of a guy's mouth that she was dating, and she began to relax a bit more, feeling joy in her heart. So it seems that Stefan was looking at her, and wanting her to be with him for quite a while yet. Jo grinned a little then, eyes sparkling. But then Damon's words had to break through her happiness.
Jo shook her head, trying to block out what he was about to say, but soon realised that it was important to hear it. He made some sarcastic remark about her being that good, then the next part really got her attention. What was he truly getting at? What, make her a vampire like them? Was he out of his mind? But then she thought about what he said about her growing old, as he stayed the way he looked right now. That hit her then, making her shift on the floor a little. Jo had only been with Stefan for a week now, and that had never really crossed her mind. Now it had, she wondered if that was the right thing to do, if he wished to be with her for eternity. Eternity, that was a long time in Jo's eyes. It had only been a week, but it was definately something to discuss. Ever since that night that they shared, Jo had a feeling in her heart that she was going to have a serious think about it.
Jo was glad that Stefan wasn't going to harm Damon in front of her, even though she, herself, wanted to do some harm to him more than anything. But she wasn't a bad person, so would only use her ability to protect herself, and or others. Jo then heard Stefan comment about Damon before he became a vampire. So he hadn't really changed, just gotten worse by the sounds of it. If she hadn't been feeling the way she was now, Jo would have burst out laughing at the comment that Stefan made about Damon's name. All she could do then was shake her head at Damon 's lame reply. Sounds like he was wearing himself down.
Stefan had whispered to her to do the whole uninviting thing to Damon, then he brought him in to face her, so she could tell him herself. Jo saw Stefan nod his head, like he was encouraging her to say it. After some attempts to say something, anything to get rid of Damon, she finally got the courage to stand up, with the support of the bench, and told Damon that he was no longer invited into her apartment. That was enough for her to say, as Stefan smiled, then quickly took Damon outside.
Jo felt like she had held her breath, and she released it. She turned to face the bench, holding it with both of her hands. Jo soon felt relief lift off of her shoulders. But that soon disolved, as she felt her eyes mist over, and tears started to fall. The whole event that had just happened was starting to sink in fully. Inviting Damon in, then him getting into her head. Being grateful that Stefan had heard her, or sensed Damon's presence with her, to the all out war between the two of them in her apartment. It was all too much to handle now.
She felt her legs begin to give way under her body, but then she didn't slump to the ground. The arms around her belonged to Stefan. Feeling them wrapped around her body, then feeling his lips kissing her head was so reassuring then. All she could do was wrap her own arms around his body, and just cry uncontrollably. Jo attempted to concentrate on what he was saying, over her tears. Hearing what he was saying, was starting to scare her a bit. What was he implying? He loved her enough to let her go? It didn't make sense. Jo frowned then, slowly calming down again. She felt him pull away from her, and headed towards the lounge room.
Jo was in complete shock. It felt just then like her heart was shattering into a million pieces. It had only been a week, but that was long enough for her to know that she loved him way too much for him to slip through her fingers. In all honesty, she didn't think that it would be worth living if she didn't have Stefan. Jo had never felt like this before with anyone. Stefan was different, and she knew it. He was kind, thoughtful, passionate, and loved her more than she probably ever knew. She had to do something about it, wondering if he had actually left her apartment, even though she hadn't heard the door close.
She quickly made her way into the lounge, and stopped in her tracks, to see Stefan just standing there, looking down at the ground. Jo had so many mixed emotions right there and then. Should she go and just wrap her arms around him, telling him to not let her go. Maybe it sounded desperate, and she didn't want to come across that way. But what else could she do? Jo slowly, but surely made her way behind Stefan, wrapping her arms around his body. "You don't have to be sorry Stefan. I now know what your brother is like, and what he looks like." She turned around to face Stefan then, taking his hands in her own. "I am glad that you allowed yourself into my life. It doesn't matter who I date, it is still dangerous out there, with all those people who had abilities like me. You are not dangerous, you have to know that. I love you Stefan. And I am loving you more than I have ever loved anyone before as well." Jo moved her right hand up to let it rest on his face, just looking into those eyes.
"I am a better person with you in my life." With that Jo leaned up, and kissed Stefan slowly but confidently on the lips.

Stefan still couldn’t believe his brother had watched him and Jo that night they had made love for the first time. Well actually, he could believe it of Damon, but it was just so disgusting. His brother truly had become the animal within. Stefan would never allow himself to get like that, never. He just shook his head, not even able to find the words to retaliate this time. Damon would get what was coming to him one of these days, of that Stefan was sure. People like Damon only got away with so much. When Damon said he liked the friendly banter between them both, Stefan just shook his head again and felt an involuntary growl escape from the back of his throat. He really had no time for Damon. Why should he waste his energy talking back to him? It would be better to just keep the energy to fight him off instead. When Stefan said he would never want to be with anyone else except from Jo, he looked at her and saw that grin of hers, he winked at her and smiled warmly at her. He had of course meant every word. He should have known his dearest brother would have something to say on the issue, and he didn’t fail him. However, some of what he said did hit home with Stefan. He was right about the fact Stefan would stay the same while Jo continued to get older. The fact of Jo getting older wasn’t the issue here, he had already lost his heart to her, and that would never change, no, the issue here was the fact he would never change. “I am sure if Josephine had a twin, we would both make sure she stayed away from you, but she does not. And I would never turn Josephine into one of us, never.” He wasn’t sure how Jo would feel about what Damon had just said; they would have to speak about it when they were alone. He couldn’t deny that Jo remaining to look the same age, like he himself, would be amazing, but he would not destroy her soul. He and Jo would have to talk more about this. “Even if I did choose to end your life, I would still be deemed a hero for getting rid of evil like you. How would getting rid of someone who enjoys taking lives make me the monster? You know what, do not even bother answering. I cannot stand to listen to you another moment.” Stefan let out a sigh, followed by another growl from the back of his throat, as he glared at Damon, “And I would never join you.” Of all the time in the past Damon had tried to turn Stefan and failed, he honestly thought he would have given up by now. However it seemed that Damon enjoyed making Stefan’s life a misery so much he couldn’t stay away from him. When Damon had commented on the name change more, Stefan just ignored him. It was for the best, especially if he didn’t want to hear Damon’s voice again. When Stefan had finally taken Damon to Jo so she could uninvite him into her home, he soon had Damon outside. It felt great to Stefan to know that Damon could no longer get to Jo while he wasn’t in the house. However, he knew he couldn’t be with her all the time, and it was when Jo wasn’t at home, he would worry. Now they had this deep connection though, Stefan would be able to tell much sooner when and if Jo was in trouble and needed him. He heard Damon’s muttered words but Stefan could only chuckle at him. Just as Stefan had thought, Damon goaded him some more about how he might not be able to get into her apartment now, but he could get to her at work. Stefan just growled slightly and shook his head, “What you seem to forget brother dear, Josephine and I consummated our love, you know what that means. It means we have a deep connection nobody can break and I will know immediately when she is in trouble. You will find it almost impossible to get anywhere near her.” In fact, Stefan was beginning to think it might not be such a bad idea for Jo to take some more of the vervain into work with her, so if Damon should show his face, she could bring it out. It would render him virtually powerless, but then when Stefan arrived he would be the same. He would have to think about that idea some more. Stefan had then left Damon and walked back into Jo’s apartment. He heard Damon mumble about finding fun elsewhere. Stefan ideally would love to have told Damon to go do that, but Stefan knew what Damon’s idea of fun was, and Stefan would never allow it, so he just continued to ignore him and continued to make his way into Jo’s apartment, glad that Damon was now gone, and maybe he and Jo could enjoy the rest of the evening together. Stefan walked right into the kitchen and had wrapped his arms around Jo, but he was saddened to hear she was crying. As he kissed the top of her head, he soon felt her arms wrap around his body and he felt her continue to cry. He rested his chin on her head, rubbing his hand up and down her back in a soothing way. However, at the same time, he had begun to speak to Jo telling her it was dangerous around him. He was only speaking the truth, and he knew she wouldn’t like his words, but he had to say them. He should never have allowed himself to get close to her, knowing how his brother could be. Once he was sure Jo was calm enough he had made his way into her living room, but rather than sit down, he just stood there, feeling sorry for himself really. What he had said to Jo was true and his not being around her would be for her own benefit, although, sadly Damon knew what Jo looked like now, so really it would be worse for her now if he did leave. On top of that, they had this deep connection now, even if he did walk out of her life now, he knew it wouldn’t be long before he walked right back into it again. He had known Josephine was the right woman for him from the moment they had met. As he stood there, he put his hand into his pocket, and began to twiddle around with the contents of his pocket. It hadn’t taken long for Stefan to hear Jo come into the living room after him, and soon he felt her arms wrap around his body. He sighed gently at her touch and without even realising it; his hands went up over her own and held them gently. He then listened to her words, as she said that she now knew what his brother looked like. This was true, but it didn’t stop Jo from being in danger when she was out of the house and he wasn’t with her. He then felt Jo move and so he dropped his hands from her own, and then she was facing him, and she in turn took his hands this time. He slowly looked up at her, locking eyes with her and listened as she spoke again. Her hand was on his face and he was going to speak, but she continued to speak some more. When she said she was a better person with him in her life, he couldn’t help but smile. It did feel good to hear her say that, and then she kissed him. He kissed her back tenderly, and then gently broke away. He kept her hands in his own, and he swallowed hard. “I just...” He trailed off, and then continued, “I know what you are saying Josephine, but really, Damon can be so dangerous and evil, you have not even seen the worst he can do. But I do know one thing, as much as I believe having me in your life will be dangerous for you, the idea of not being in your life crushes me.” His voice was full of sadness, and his eyes full of sorrow. He quite simply couldn’t think of a life without Josephine now. He removed one of his hands, and put it into his pocket and began to twiddle around with the contents once more; wondering if now would be the right time. He had bought them the day before, but wanted to wait until the time was right, he now wondered if this was the right time. “I do not know how you feel about what Damon mentioned earlier, but he was right about one thing, I will never grow old, I do not care how you will look. The love I have for you will never die no matter what, but will you be able to live with me being like this forever?” He sighed gently, then not really waiting for an answer, he pulled out the contents of his pocket which he had been twiddling about with for the past few minutes, and then keeping a hold of one of her hands, he got down on one knee, knowing that was the traditional thing for a man to do. He looked back up at her slowly as he flipped open both boxes, Engagement Ring Eternity Ring “If you can live with me like this forever, for an eternity, then marry me Josephine Harding; be with me for an eternity.” He then closed his eyes, waiting for her response, wondering what it would be, he only hoped he had indeed chosen the right moment, and he wasn’t about to make the biggest mistake of his life.

Jo had always wished for another sibling, but in a way was grateful at this moment that she had none. She would never wish for anyone to meet and befriend Damon at all. If she had known it was him at the doorway earlier, she would have not invited him in at all. Then the whole thing that Damon had mentioned about basically making her like them, had made her wonder alot. What if they did end up together for ever? The thought of her growing old, while Stefan stayed the same made her start to do a little bit of thinking. Jo then heard Stefan comment about it, saying that he would never turn her into one of them. Okay, thought Jo, so it looks like we might have to have that talk then.
The whole last few moments from that morning had gotten too much for Jo, as she continued to think about it all. Her emotions had gotten too much for her, and she had started to collapse to the ground, after her legs gave way under her. But luckily Stefan was there to catch her. Just wrapping her arms around him, crying so much, felt like the right thing to do, after what she had been through. It felt good to be in his arms, feeling him comforting her, rubbing his hand up and down her back. Jo had tried to listen to what Stefan had to say to her through her crying, and what he said had scared her a bit. Jo was calming down enough to talk about what he said, but Stefan pulled away, and walked back into the lounge room.
Jo didn't know what to do at that moment, but somehow knew that Stefan was still there, as she hadn't heard the door to her apartment shut. She hesitated when she saw him standing, but after some thinking, had instanty gone over to him, and wrapped her arms around him from behind. She felt Stefan's hands hold her own, after she heard him sigh. After commenting about Damon, Jo had then moved around to face Stefan, speaking more. Just looking into those kind, intense eyes of Stefan's, made Jo's heart melt. He looked so sad, but she didn't really blame him. His brother was at fault for what they had been feeling, and what they were feeling right now. Jo then put a hand on Stefan's face, telling him that she was a better person with him in his life. She saw that smile of Stefan's, which in turn led her to smile warmly back at him. That brief kiss between them was so nice, and Jo didn't want it to end, but she soon felt Stefan break away.
Once again, Jo's hands were in Stefan's, and she continued to look at him. She blinked a few times, as Stefan spoke about Damon. Jo wanted to tell him to just shut up all together about Damon, but then he changed the subject. Just hearing him say those words made Jo let go of his hands, and just wrap her arms around his body again. "I honestly can't imagine not having you in my life either Stefan. I just... I don't know how I could live if I lost you. I just wouldn't be the same." Jo then looked at Stefan again, feeling tears stinging her eyes. She giggled sadly, as she wiped the tears away, feeling silly crying again. Jo grabbed for one hand, as she saw that the other was in his pocket, but one hand was kind of enough for now to hold.
Stefan then spoke, talking about the subject that she had wanted to talk to him more about. Jo bit on her bottom lip, remembering what was said only a few moments ago. She herself had wanted to talk about it after Damon had left, but felt that it was going to be brought up now. Jo had wondered if being turned into one of them was the right thing to do. Jo wasn't sure what she would think or do as she got older, and Stefan stayed the same. At this point in time she couldn't really imagine it. All she could see was her and Stefan like this, at this very moment. That was all that mattered to Jo right now, and that is the way she wanted it to stay, so maybe Stefan should turn her. Jo let out a sigh then, trying to make up her mind to tell him what she was thinking.
But as she went to open her mouth to talk, Jo watched as Stefan pulled something out of his pocket. She frowned a little at the sight of the two boxes. Jo instantly gasped, moving one hand to her mouth, eyes wide with what she knew was happening. Her heart was beating a mile a minute, and it just got worse, as the boxes were opened to reveal two rings. Jo's eyes moved from one ring to the next, then back again. She quickly looked at Stefan, looking at him, darting her eyes across his face. Then Jo's eyes began to mist over, and she attempted to swallow them back, but it just wasn't working.
Behind her hand, her mouth was hanging open, which she soon realised it was doing, and closed it slowly. Jo looked down at him more, and tried to concentrate on what he was saying to her. Stefan then closed his eyes. She had no idea what to say to this at all. Only a few seconds ago she had said that she couldn't imagine not having him in her life. Jo did truly love Stefan, even after a week. A week. That didn't seem that long before getting married. Jo was only twenty-five years old, going on twenty-six, and wondered if that was too young to get married. But really her mother was twenty-three when she and Jo's father married, so maybe not. But maybe it was for this day and age. Jo had no idea what to do, but she knew she should listen to her heart and not her sensible head.
She looked at the rings. They were so beautiful, but this did not make her decision for her. Jo breathed in, and then let out the breath, ready to give Stefan her decision. She moved her hand from his hand that had been holding it, putting it on his face again, gently touching his skin. Here goes, she thought. "I will. I will marry you Stefan Winchester." As she waited for him to look at her, she smiled warmly at him, feeling fresh tears form in her eyes.

After Stefan had gone on more about Damon and how dangerous it was for Jo to be around him, he had also said the idea of not having Jo in his life would crush him. He had meant every word and yet his voice was full of sadness and his eyes full of sorrow. Just looking at her and being that close to her, knowing how he would feel if he couldn’t be this close to her again, knowing he’d never look into those beautiful eyes of hers again, was impossible for him to imagine. Hearing Jo speak made his eyes light up once more and he felt as if his heart was beating once more. The feeling of her arms wrapped around him felt so good and for a few seconds he rested his chin on her head. How could he ever let go of her? “Well then, you will not lose me. I cannot allow for it to happen if it were to make My Love upset. I cannot allow for you to change, as I love you the way you are.” A smile spread across his face then. Yes, for all it had been a week, Stefan Winchester was in love with Josephine Harding, but then he had been in love from the moment he had set eyes on her, that’s why he had the instant connection.
He felt Jo move slightly and so he moved his chin from resting on her head, and he soon saw Jo look up at him with tears in her eyes. He couldn’t help but smile as she giggled and then wiped them away. “That is better. I cannot be responsible for making you cry, unless they were happy tears naturally.” He then allowed one hand to touch her face, then let a finger trail down it slightly and resting it under her chin, before he kissed her briefly. However, Damon’s words about remaining the same were constantly running through his mind. While twiddling with the contents of his pocket with his one hand, he then began to speak to Jo about what Damon had said. When he finished speaking, he hadn’t given Jo a chance to respond before he continued to talk. He knew his feelings for Jo were right, and he knew there couldn’t have been a better time to do what he was about to do. At least, he didn’t think there could be a better time for him.
He had gotten down on one knee and opened both boxes, which he had taken out of his pocket and looked up at Jo and then in his own words, he had proposed to her. If he had a beating heart, he knew it would be breaking through his chest right then, as he watched her put her hand up to her mouth and then her eyes darted across his face. He saw her eyes mist over and then he closed his own waiting to hear Jo give him her answer. The silence seemed so long, he was physically scared what her response was going to be. Had he said it too soon for Jo? What if he was about to lose her because he was too quick? Stefan soon felt Jo let go of his hand, and when he felt it on his face, he opened his eyes again, but until he heard her speak, he couldn’t look at her. Then she answered him, and that’s when he could finally look up at her. He saw that warm smile and the tears forming in her eyes. These were the tears he didn’t mind seeing, so long as they were tears of happiness, he was fine with it.
He stood up then, hardly being able to believe she had agreed to marry him, “You will?” He asked, even though he knew that’s what he had heard her say. He then took her hand, and slipped the eternity ring on first and then the engagement ring, lifting her hand to his lips afterward and kissing the back of it. “You have made me the happiest man alive today Josephine, my love.” Technically Stefan wasn’t alive, but the way he felt right then, it was as if he had just got his life back again for the first time since he was turned into a monster. In all his years he had never proposed to any female he had a connection with, but the one he had with Jo was so strong, he knew it was right, he knew it was what he wanted to do. He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her to him, before kissing her briefly but with quite a strong passion.
However, there was still one thing not spoken about properly yet, and one thing which still had to be dealt with, what Damon had said about turning Jo. “I do not want to bring his name in at such a happy moment, but I do, in a way. What he mentioned earlier, about making you one of us, I will not deny that it would be good for us to both be like this for eternity. But I hope you would know I could not destroy your soul.” If only she had that ability Adam Monroe had. Stefan had read about him, he had been the same age for years, because he possessed the ability of self healing. He had to assume it also meant you did not grow old.
{ooc – not too sure where I was going with this as I mentioned it, but I was thinking it may just be possible for Jo to take a mild form of Shanti Virus and lose her ability. Stefan can get an ability injection from Ryan whose mother is Angela Petrelli and she could then get Rapid Cellular Regeneration, making her stay young? Unless you want her changed into a good vampire of course.}

Just feeling Stefan so close to her felt so good. He soon rested his chin on her head, and she closed her eyes. Jo then heard Stefan speak. What he said was something that she was longing to hear. She never wanted to lose him, it would not be fair on either of them. They have this wonderful connection, and one that she never wanted severed ever, by anyone. When she had moved and wiped the tears away, Stefan commented on what he was obviously seeing. "I think everything is kind of getting to me now. But hearing all the things that you have said to me has been a great comfort. Would never want to lose you, but it will be inevitable when I grow old."
Jo watched as Stefan touched her face with his hand, then leaving one finger there, moving it down to her chin. As he did that, her eyes closed for a second, then opened when it reached her chin, then they kissed briefly. After that Jo had listened to what Stefan had said, and had wanted to reply with what she had been thinking, as he couldn't hear her thoughts. She didn't want to talk about Damon anymore, but what he had said was important enough to discuss between them, on their own.
That was the moment that Stefan had gotten down on one knee and proposed to Jo. Just seeing those two beautiful rings, had made Jo gasp, not knowing what to say as they had only been in a relationship for a whole week. With all her thoughts running inside her head, Jo soon made the decision that her heart was telling her. Her heart had to rule over her head. If she chose the other answer, Jo didn't know what would happen between her and Stefan. So she had told him that she would marry him.
Finally Stefan looked at Jo. She tried to keep the tears at bay as he asked her if she will. Jo felt the tears falling down her cheek as she nodded, feeling her chest heaving a little due to the emotion. "Yes." Her smile got bigger, as she watched Stefan take her hand, and firstly place the eternity ring on her finger, then the engagement ring. Jo let out a breath, as Stefan kissed the back of her hand then. Through the tears that were still falling, she nodded as Stefan spoke about her making him the happiest man alive. Jo was so happy right now, but also a little scared as well. It seemed so sudden for her to get engaged to Stefan, but that emotion was soon gone as she knew that she loved him so much, that it was just right to marry him.
Stefan then wrapped his arms around her, and Jo put her right arm around Stefan, under his arm, and rested her left hand on his chest. Jo just looked at the rings on her left hand. A small smile crept onto her lips, leading to her sighing a little. She would have never imagined in a million years that she would have met a man like Stefan, or a vampire like him, and then a week later get engaged. Jo had thought that Marcus was the one, but look how that turned out. But things always happen for a reason, and now Jo knew that it was true just feeling Stefan with her right now. Then after this embrace, Stefan kissed Jo, feeling the passion between them. She just felt like a giddy little girl on Christmas. She had gotten everything that she had been hoping for, and all in one week.
Jo continued to smile at Stefan, then that soon was starting to disappear from her lips as he spoke more about Damon. She looked at him seriously now, hoping that this moment would pass so that they could get back to being a happy couple again. But it would seem that the discussion would be a serious one for a little while yet. Jo nodded as he spoke about it being good for them to both be like this for an eternity. It would be good, Jo couldn't deny that. She would be with Stefan for all of time, and not till she passed on when in old age. Jo then looked at Stefan intensely as he mentioned about how he could not destroy her soul.
Jo slowly pulled away from Stefan, then sat on the lounge, legs pulled up towards her, with her arms wrapped around them. She didn't want to get angry at this point, but Stefan had a right to know what she had been thinking about. Jo looked up at him, and decided to tell him. "It is great that you want to protect me in that way. But what about what I want. What if I want to be like you, so that we can be together forever? What if I don't want to be old and grey, and just pass on, leaving you behind? That would seriously kill me." Jo rested her chin on her knees, and felt fresh tears begin to form, then fall, hitting her legs. "I don't want that to happen at all." Jo then buried her face in her arms, and began to cry. This time it was not happy tears at all.
As she sat there and cried, all Jo could think was that she wanted to be like Stefan, so that she could be with him forever. She loved him that much to turn into what he was. All he needed to do was to tell her how.
{ooc - I had tears in my own eyes as I wrote that last bigger paragraph!!!! Also I don't mind if you mention what you put in the ooc bit. But I am sure that Stefan will tell you what to write lol}

When Jo said she never wanted to lose him but it would be inevitable when she grows old, Damon’s haunting words once again began to filter through Stefan’s head. He knew turning her into a vampire would let them live together forever, but Jo had a choice, she had a choice to remain human, Stefan never had that choice, and he would never take it away from another human as long as he lived in his undead life. He wasn’t sure what to say to that, he looked down at his feet briefly, then looked back up at her again, “Josephine, my love, even when you are old, you will not lose me.” He knew that wasn’t quite true, because she was referring to when she died, and thinking about that now tore at Stefan’s heart so much, that he couldn’t stop himself from saying the next words, because quite honestly he had never felt this way about another woman in his life before, human or vampire. “When you die Josephine; that will be the day I die, I will not allow myself to live without you; I cannot. The day you die, I will take off my ring and stake myself through the heart and we will be together again.”
Stefan had then spontaneously proposed to Jo. Not that it had been that spontaneous, as he had both rings, he had just been waiting for the right moment, and he had felt that was the right moment. So he got down on one knee and proposed, hoping that he wouldn’t be making a big mistake, but with the connection the both of them had been feeling, he didn’t think he would be making a mistake. Jo had obviously been taken by surprise and he could tell she wasn’t really sure what to do say, or at least, he could sense it, as he hadn’t been looking at her as he waited for a response. Thankfully she said yes. He had stood up and asked if she would, more a clarification of what she had already said, and when she said yes again, Stefan was so happy. He then stood up and placed both the rings on her finger and then brought her hand up to kiss the back of it. The grin on Jo’s face just completely lit up her face, and it made Stefan smile back warmly at her. He had never asked another to marry before. Jo was the one, and there would be no other.
When Stefan wrapped his arms around her, he soon felt Jo put one of her arms around him, and rest her left hand on his chest. He watched as she looked at the rings which were now on her finger, they did look stunning on her hand, as they sparkled under the light of the living area. Stefan had then kissed Jo with passion. He couldn’t believe she said yes, not that he wanted her to say no, but he just had this feeling she might, so when she said yes, he had wanted to jump up and down like a happy kid on his birthday, but he refrained. Instead, he just allowed himself to enjoy the embrace they shared. In all his one hundred and fifty seven years, he had finally found a woman he wanted to marry. However, the happy moment couldn’t last too long; Stefan had to speak about Damon some more and what he had said. When Stefan asked Jo to marry him, he had said to her, if she could live with him being the same while she got older, then to marry him, and Jo had said yes. However, when Stefan said he could not destroy her soul, she began to move away from him.
He watched as she sat on the sofa and pulled her legs up and wrapped her arms around them. This was the kind of reaction he thought she might give, but really, she saw how Damon was, did she really want to be one of them? He walked toward her, wanting to just hold her in his arms once more, and yet, because of her position on the sofa, felt he should hold back. Jo soon spoke to him, and what she said, through her tears, cut through Stefan like a knife. When she had finished talking, and went into sobbing, Stefan stood with his thumbnail in his mouth for a second; he sighed and then took a step back from her. He had a feeling, or he could sense, she didn’t want him too close to her right then. “Josephine, my love, you saw what Damon is like, you know what he can do, you experienced it, is that the kind of life you want for yourself? Is that the kind of life you really want for yourself? You need to think about this some more. You have a choice at a human life, I never had a choice. This is not a life I would have chosen for myself.” He sighed again, and looked down at his feet again, moving slightly, as he ran his hand through his hair, “Do you know the best thing that has come out of my being a vampire? I met you. I met a woman I love so much I want to marry, if I had never become this animal, I might have died a single man.” What else could he say to her about it? What else could he say to try and stop her from thinking it was such a good thing.
“The transition is not easy Josephine. It took me a long time and a lot of self control to learn to feed from animals instead of humans. I do not think I could watch you go through that.” He couldn’t destroy her life, but he also knew he couldn’t live without her, if she demanded it of him, then he might just have to give in to his better judgement. “I cannot live without you, but I cannot destroy your soul, what choice do I have?” As he said those last words, he felt a tear fall from his right eye, he had gone from being the happiest man alive to probably one of the saddest in a matter of minutes, but it was a conversation which needed to be spoken about, maybe he should leave her and let her decide when she was ready, but as he went to move, he found he couldn’t, he was frozen and so he just stood where he was watching her, dying on the inside at how upset she was over it all.

Jo frowned slightly, as Stefan said that when she got old, she would not lose him. Did he not understand what she just said. Jo had been talking about when she finally died and passed on she would lose him. She moved her eyes over his face, and up to his eyes, searching for a glimpse of his understanding her. When he finally spoke again, her breath caught in her throat. Jo brought her lips into her mouth, feeling tears stinging in her eyes. She blinked them back, swallowing hard. Without hesitation, Jo's hands went straight to his face. She so wanted to take off the necklace, and just let him listen to the many thoughts that were going through her head right then, but she decided against it. But with what he said, she couldn't say a word. Jo then just wrapped her arms around his neck, and just hugged him to herself.
Jo noticed that Stefan was walking towards her, as she sat on the lounge with her arms around her legs. He made no effort to come over to her, but Jo had a lot to say, and in the end just let herself cry into her arms. She was in mixed emotions right then. For one, she was so happy to be engaged to Stefan, who was the most wonderful man she had ever met. But now that was starting to change in her mind. She just wanted to stay the way she was for the rest of time, and if it meant changing to a creature like Stefan, then so be it.
Jo, through her tears, heard what Stefan said next. She frowned, still with her head down, and she felt her tears start to subside. Jo looked up at Stefan, through her red eyes, and soon heard the tone in her voice, which she never thought she would hear when talking to Stefan. "I saw what Damon is like, and I have unfortunately seen what he can do. I want to be like you, but I know that I will have as much willpower as you did. I just know, okay! I don't need anymore time to think about it." Jo starting to fling her hands around, as she spoke, trying to get Stefan to understand. "I understand about you not having a choice in the matter of you being what you are. But I am making my choice now. I am sure that this is not what you wanted for yourself, but it happened. And now I want it. I want to be like you."
Jo could feel herself getting angry now, knowing full well that Stefan was never going to change his mind. If that was the case, she now knew someone else who might just make her wanting to be a vampire a reality. That person might just have to be Damon. Jo looked away from Stefan then, but continued to listen to what he had to say. As Stefan spoke about the best thing that had come out of him being a vampire, Jo felt her heart melt. Through all that anger, her heart was still intact, and was now telling her to just forget the whole changing to a vampire, and just enjoy the time that they will have over the next fifty years or so. But Jo being Jo, there was still that stubborn streak. She turned to look at him, and didn't know what to say. What could she say to a man she might not have ever met in her lifetime. She might just be sitting here on her own right now, feeling sorry for herself still about Marcus. But no, she had a man right in front of her who loved her so much that he wanted to marry her.
Jo looked down at her arms, that she had wrapped around her body, legs resting on the back of the lounge. She listened to what else he had to say. What choice did he have? So now she had to make the decision, it seemed. Jo then spoke before she could think about what she was about to say. She turned to rest her head on the arm of the lounge, so her back was now to Stefan. "Maybe you should just leave. There is your decision made for you. I need time away from you to think. I don't want to say anything that I might regret." Jo stared out the window, and felt fresh tears sting in her eyes again. A stray tear fell down her cheek, and she quickly wiped it away. She stayed this way, until she was certain Stefan had left.

{ooc - so many posts - so many so long to reply to - am so sorry}
When Stefan told Jo that he would take off his ring and stake himself through the heart when she died, because that would be the day he died too, he saw that look on her face, and he could see her eyes were getting watery, he hadn’t meant to upset her, but what he had said was the complete truth. Jo then put her hands on his face, and he closed his eyes briefly, enjoying the touch of her hands on his face. She didn’t say anything, but her body language was giving away what she was thinking, and then she wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug. All Stefan could do was to hug her back, close to him, as he rested his chin on her head. He loved her so much, and really, as long as he was alive, he would love for Jo to be with him by his side, looking the way she did then, but other than destroying her soul, he couldn’t think of a way, he just had to hope that she would get used to the idea eventually. It wasn’t as if she was going to die the next day, not if he had anything to do with it anyway.
After Stefan had refused to turn her into a vampire because he couldn’t take her soul away from her, she broke down, and this time he knew he was the one who had caused the tears. But he couldn’t do it to her. He just couldn’t. It was at this moment he wished he could get into her head to hear what she was thinking, because her tears were telling him that she was not in the least bit happy at his decision. In a way he didn’t blame her for being angry and upset with him, because it was obviously what she wanted, and he could so easily do it, but he had never made another human like him in all his life and he wasn’t about to start now. He even pointed out the most obvious reason to be against it, bringing up Damon thinking that would make her see sense, but he realised it hadn’t when she began to speak back to him through her tears.
Stefan put both his hands up to his head and ran them through his hair, it wasn’t just about willpower, it was about learning to readjust to life, learning to accept that you couldn’t go out during the day, she would have to give up her day job and work at night. Alright, maybe he could get another one of the rings he had, but the two he and Damon wore hadn’t been easy to achieve, and he wasn’t willing to go through the tests and torture to get another one, no matter how much he loved Jo. He sighed, “It is not just about the willpower Josephine, you must understand that your life would change dramatically. You have to physically die first, would you really want your mother to know about that? You would not be able to live your life like you currently do, I cannot guarantee being able to get you a ring like mine, which means you would be more vulnerable to vampire hunters and you would not be able to go out during the day. You would really live like that, just so you can stay young?” He wasn’t angry with her at all, just trying to make her understand what she would have to learn to deal with.
“I am sorry Josephine but I do not want you to be like me. I am glad I am nothing like the monster we are supposed to be, and I actually know you would be like me and not Damon, but I just cannot take the risk, I have never made another human a vampire, in all my years of existence you would really ask me to start now?” Maybe if he could make her feel just a little bit guilty for asking him to turn her, she might back down, but he had a feeling she wouldn’t. He could sense that he was getting nowhere with her, and maybe he should leave, give her proper time on her own to think about things, if he did, there was a possibility she might call him and apologise, realising her mistake. He was about to say he was going to go, not that he really wanted to, when Jo spoke asking him to leave, before she said something she might regret. Her back was now turned to him as well, at least she hadn’t uninvited him to her home.
He slowly walked over to the sofa, and bent down and kissed her on the forehead, “Very well, if that is your wish. Just remember that I love you Josephine.” With that he swept out of her window, and made his way to his own apartment, with his head low, and his heart heavy, for he was sure that he may just have lost the one woman he loved enough to marry in all his years of existence.

Jo listened to what Stefan said, after her outburst. She was still so angry at him, something that she didn't think she would ever feel around him. Jo loved him so much, but right now, she was far from that emotion. She soon realised that she was really listening to what he was saying. So she would have to die first. Okay, thought Jo. Then Stefan had to bring up her mother. The one family member she knew she had left who loved her as much as what Stefan did. So he was bringing her into the equation, one that didn't really include her mother's thoughts on the matter. She wasn't the one who just agreed to marry Stefan. No, it was Jo, and she was a big girl.
"I get what you are trying to do Stefan. You are trying to change my mind, by bringing in my mother into the discussion. And making me think that I can't lead a normal life if I am to be like you. Okay, so I won't be able to go outside, and I will be vulnerable. So what? I am sure that I can adjust to that. And anyway, I am vulnerable any which way you look at it. I will just learn to look out for myself when you are not around." Then Stefan spoke some more, telling her that he had never made any human a vampire. Jo just wanted to have more of a go at him for saying all that. "If you are not going to turn me, then I will just have to ask someone else who will." Damon came into mind then, as she turned away from Stefan, and then finally said that maybe he should leave.
Jo hated to say it, but she just felt that she just needed to be away from him right now. After that single tear rolled down her face, she wiped it away. Jo felt so angry, upset, mixed up, and determined all at one time, and it was making her feel sick. Then when she thought he might just leave, Jo felt his soft lips on her forehead. She closed her eyes for a brief second, and swallowed the lump in her throat. Jo bit on her bottom lip, as Stefan spoke, fighting to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall any second down her face.
As Jo turned to look at Stefan, he wasn't there at all. Her eyes were wide, and then all of a sudden she broke down and cried. Jo reached for the blanket on the back of the lounge, and wrapped her entire body it in, curling herself up on the lounge. The tears now just continued to fall, and felt like they were never going to let up. Halfway through the tears, Jo whispered, "I love you."

Stefan knew his words wouldn’t have had any effect on Jo, she was so angry at him just now for refusing to turn her. He just hoped that she would understand eventually why he had to say no. When she spoke back to him this time, he saw no reason to argue back, it was just going to be a waste of time. He honestly thought telling her she would have to die first, bringing her mother into it would have helped her to think different, he was wrong. She would understand eventually, she had to. As much as it was going to be difficult for him to do, maybe he should just leave her for a while, let her calm down, let her think about things properly without him being there. He was about to tell her he would give her some time to think when she spoke again. He did not like what he heard her say, as he knew full well she was referring to Damon. His eyes flashed red, and could only think of one thing to say, “No, Josephine.” He wouldn’t have to say anything else, she would know he knew who she was talking about, and thus she would know why he said no.
Then he heard her say he should maybe leave, which was what he was going to suggest in the first place. He moved closer to her kissing her on the forehead and then told her that he loved her and then he had swept out of her open window. He was basically gone within seconds after saying he loved her. He felt like a part of him had been ripped away, having Jo feel that way about him wasn’t nice, and it felt wrong, it felt bad. His heart was heavy, in fact if he hadn’t known any better, he would have said she had just broken it in that moment. He soon reached his own apartment, and went right to bed, just laying there with his hands behind his head and staring up at the ceiling, if Jo didn’t come back to him, then he didn’t want to live anymore, he couldn’t, he just couldn’t bear to think about living in this world without Josephine by his side. He had found the one woman he loved enough to marry, and still did, but if she didn’t want him in her life anymore, then he wouldn’t be in her life, permanently.
{ooc – think this finishes it to be honest! Just let me know so I can lock and archive it thanks.}
