15th August 2009 Danyel decided to hang around Las Vegas for another month. She just felt useless lately. Each time she thought she was getting close to a guy, it just ended like that. Maybe she should just give up now, while she felt that she was useless, and just concentrate on her career. Yes, that was a good idea. But Danyel decided to have a good time now, and then worry about her career when it got time to get back to work. So now, Danyel was heading for the casino at the hotel she was staying at. Along the way one person recognised her, and she happily signed something for them. Soon enough she entered the casino, and headed straight for the black jack table. She sat down in between a man and a woman, and handed the person looking after the table a hundrend dollar bill. Soon she was handed over some chips, and Danyel put out twenty-five dollars worth for the next round.

Matt was fed up with life in general. He had Daphne and lost her, he had Molly and she had disappeared like Daphne into the life of another man. That man was his best friend Mohinder. However, he and Mohinder were now friends again, leaving the past behind them. Funny thing is, Daphne didn't appear to be with Mohinder anymore, but she was no longer around. It made Matt wonder if she had decided to go back to the dark side, which she had been on when he'd met her.
What was even more strange, was the disappearance of Molly. She was last with Mohinder and Daphne, but with Daphne supposedly no longer with Mohinder, he wondered where Molly was now. When he had heard that Becca seemed to have gone missing from Peter's life, his only other thought was that the sisters had taken themselves off somewhere, but he had no idea where, or why they would have done that without contacting him.
Matt was like a dad to Molly and it hurt him that he couldn't see his 'daughter' anymore. So after some soul searching and moaning around the house, he decided to take himself off into Las Vegas for a day and evening filled with hopefully some fun and maybe a woman. Hah, what chance would he have of getting himself a woman, he'd thought all his dreams had come true when Daphne had paid some attention to him, he had no chance of getting anyone else.
He made his way into a casino and decided to try his luck at the black jack table, and immediately saw a woman place a bet with a hundred dollar bill. Instead of placing a bet himself, he decided to stand and watch and see how this woman's luck would play out before possibly joining in.

Danyel had put down her twenty-five dollars worth of chips down to bet for the next round. She glanced at the woman beside her, and saw that she had a stack of chips to bed with for the next round. Danyel kind of thought nothing of it, as she looked at the man beside her. He had a whole pile more, which made Danyel worry a bit, as she raised her eyebrow at the sight. She turned her attention back to the dealer, as they dealt the cards, first one card for each of them, then two.
Danyel looked down at the two cards that were face up on the table. She had a two of hearts and a nine of clubs. Looking at it, she was indeed going to have to get another card. Closing her right hand into a fist, Danyel hit it a couple of times on the table. "Hit me." The dealer turned over a card, and to Danyel's surprise, the card turned out to be an ace of hearts. Danyel stared at it, just couldn't believe her luck. It looked like that her luck was towards money, rather than men right now.
She watched as the dealer gave her fifty dollars worth of chips. "Well done," they said, and picked up all the cards. As Danyel left that pile of chips for the next round, she turned and noticed a guy standing and watching. She looked at the table, and saw that there was a spare seat on the other side of the woman. Turning to speak to him, she smiled. "If you want to join the table, there is a spot just over there." Danyel hoped that this man might join so that the table would be full.

Matt watched as the woman who had handed over a hundred dollar bill, then placed a bet with twenty-five dollars worth, it was a lot, but not as much as putting the whole hundred dollars on it. He then watched to see how the game would turn out. He was hoping she would win, not that her winning would do much for him, but it was always nice to see the tables be beaten by a player. He knew he could probe her mind to see what her thoughts were with regards to the cards she held, but Matt didn't use his ability to pry into someone's mind, it was an invasion of their privacy. He used it for emergency purposes only.
When the woman told the dealers to hit her, he wondered how it would then go. He was happy to see that she won, and then she was handed over double the amount of chips she had placed for the bet in the first place. He couldn't help but smile, even though he didn't know her at all and then for some reason, not even sure why, he decided to shout out, "Well done." He had more or less said it at the same time as the dealer, so she may not even have heard him speak.
However, it would seem he had caught her attention somehow, and the next thing he knew she was asking him to join the free space at the table. He smiled over at her, "Don't mind if I do, actually." He then moved and sat in the space she had pointed out. He then leaned in toward her, he couldn't help himself but say, "Was that just sheer luck, or are you pretty damn good at this game?" He wasn't usually the luckiest person in the world, but thought he would place a bet at the next game anyway.
{ooc - alright, have no clue how to play this haha so - is it just a case of reaching 21?}

Danyel couldn't believe her luck at the first round. She thought about a few days earlier, when she was asked of she wanted her palm read. Maybe she should have had it done. It might have shown that this might happen. But maybe it was just pure luck, and she would run with it now. So this led her to keep the chips that she was given for the next hand dealt. For all Danyel knew they were lucky for her for the next hand.
When she had noticed the guy standing near the table, she had asked him if he wanted to join the table. She gave him a grin, as he accepted the invitation. As he made his way to the table, Danyel wondered if he would be competition for her. The woman and the man, on either side of her, seemed to not have much luck at the game, which made Danyel feel that her luck was growing somewhat. But only the next hand dealt would tell, to see if this new player would be as lucky as her.
As she waited for the dealer to deal them their cards, Danyel saw the man lean over towards her. She smiled a little at the woman between them, and then looked at the man, as he spoke. She twirled a loose strained of hair around her index finger, and smiled at the man. "Don't know. But I am willing to continue the game to find out." She sat back in her chair, but still looking and smiling at the man, as she did so.
Soon the dealer dealt the next round of cards to the now full table. Once Danyel had her cards, she looked down. "Um," she said to herself. She now had a ten of clubs, and a four of diamonds. Now she was in a dilemna. Would she hit or stay with her current hand?

For some reason Matt felt a little out of his depth here, only because he had never really gambled before. He had played cards a few times with Mohinder and even Molly, but this was different, this was playing for money. However, after being invited to join the table by the woman with the long dark hair, he knew he couldn't sit there and not actually play. He just hoped his luck would be in as much as the lady who had invited him over was. He had reached over and asked if she had just been lucky or was she good at the game. He smiled when she replied, "Sounds good enough to me."
Soon the dealer looked at Matt, so he placed his bet, he wasn't overly confidant at first, "Twenty dollars please." He was given the chips, and he put them all out for the bet, and then looked at the two cards in his hands. Now he wasn't sure what would happen, he had two aces, of course he knew they could either count as one or eleven. Since he had two, he was going to count them as one, making that he had two, and could possibly get himself a five card trick. He smiled at the dealer, "Hit me please." The card handed over was a six of diamonds, making it eight. "Hit me again please." This time the card was a two, making his total count to ten. Could he actually be lucky enough to get another ace if he asked to be hit again, or could it go pear shaped?
"Alright, hit me again please." And as if luck would have it, the card was indeed an ace, he had a five card trick, and it counted to twenty-one also. He put them down on the table, face up, laughing, "Hah! What do you make of that? Five card trick and twenty-one." He had no idea how much he would get back for his bet of twenty dollars.
The dealer then approached the lady who had invited him over, and he began to watch to see what would happen for her this time around.
{ooc - no idea about bets and stakes either haha, so you can always tell Matt in your post with the dealer, how much he won if you like lol sorry}

Danyel smiled, when the man commented on what she had said. She was glad that she had somehow ropped someone into the game. It was fun to have someone there to have a go at something with her, even if it was a complete stranger. Danyel was used to talking to strangers, and maybe even picking up a friend along the way.
Danyel had obviously left her last win on the table for the next dealing of the cards. She watched as the man asked for twenty dollars worth of chips, which he was given by the dealer. He put them on the table to use for the next hand. As Danyel contemplated what she would do with her cards, she watched the man look at his cards. She saw that he had two aces, and wondered what he would do. Then her thoughts were soon interrupted, when he told the dealer to hit him with another card. She just shook her head, as one card, then another card was dealt to him. Soon he had four cards, and it looked like it could go that he would win the hand, depending on how the dealer went in their hand. So in the end, the man had twenty-one, with five cards.
She had to laugh a little when the man called out. Danyel smiled at him, "It looks to me that luck is on your side now." She then eyed off of her hand. What would she do? If she asked for another card, it would be her luck that she would go over twenty-one. But if she stayed with fourteen, then Danyel might lose out to whatever the dealer ended up having. So she put up with the sacrafice. "Hit me!" Danyel felt herself hold her breath as the dealer dealt her another card. She felt her shoulders drop, as a nine of hearts turned up. Danyel watched her chips get taken away. Oh well, she thought, I still have fifty dollars to play with. She had a lot more money to play with, but that was all that she was willing to part with for now.
Danyel then watched as the dealer dealt themselves another card, and they got twenty-two. She looked downcast at the table, thinking that she should have just stayed with the cards she had. Then Danyel turned back to the man, as the dealer pushed over forty dollars with of chips. "Here you go Sir. Well done." She gave him a small smile, and wondered if she should continue the game, or just leave the table now. She soon decided. Danyel got up from the table, and thought about just wandering the casino, until she decided what she wanted to do.

Matt still couldn't believe he had managed to get twenty-one with a five card trick. It really was or had to be beginners luck, he never was the lucky sort, and never usually did anything like gambling. However, this time, he didn't see the harm and he didn't put a lot of money down on it. When the woman said it looked to her as if luck was on his side now, Matt just grinned at her. "Looks like it. Don't normally play, never normally gamble, as I'm never usually lucky, maybe it's your influence or something?" Alright, so maybe that was a bit of a cheesy chat up, but he found he didn't care. He was sick of being alone and she looked like fun.
He then watched as she played the game with her other hand, he hoped that she would win as well, keeping their lucky streak going on between them, but sadly she bust. Matt gave her a look of apology, "Ouch, that sucks, sorry." They then both watched as the dealer played their own hand and bust also with twenty-two. Matt then got his winnings pushed over to him, forty dollars worth of chips, he couldn't help but grin. With not being overly lucky, he figured, he would leave it at that. He would go cash in the chips, and be in a slightly better situation than he was before.
"Thanks." He then watched as the woman who had called him over, left the table, well whether she was a good luck charm or not for the game, he figured the least he could do would be to go and ask if she wanted a drink, maybe introduce himself. He got up from the table, feeling really good that he hadn't been naughty enough to use his ability to cheat on the game, and began to follow where she had gone.
When he caught up to her, he tapped her shoulder lightly, "Hey, sorry, but just wondered since you roped me into playing the game, if you wanted me to buy you a drink?" He then, looked at her closely, and realised her face looked familiar. Why did she look familiar to him? Then it hit him, he was sure she was in that show Stargate that Molly used to watch when she was living with him. "Hey, are you in that show Stargate?" He asked, keeping his voice low so as not to make a scene, especially if he was wrong. He wasn't much of a fan of the show, but since Molly had left, he'd been watching it a lot recently. He missed his 'daughter' and watching the show, no matter how little, made him feel closer to her.

Danyel grinned, looking away from the guy, after he had commented about the luck being her influence or something. Then she felt her cheeks go a bit hot. So it looked like, Danyel might just be lucking with the opposite sex, as well as lucky in this game. She had then played her cards, and unfortunately had busted. Well, it seemed that luck was not switching from the game to the opposite sex. Neither, it seemed, would be competing together. Or maybe she had spoke to him too soon about lucky being on his side now. What she said had come true.
The guy commented about what just happened, which led to Danyel just shrugging her shoulders. "Oh well." Nothing really else to say in that situation. It was good that she hadn't bet the whole lot, or more on that hand, or she would have been really down on it all. Then the dealer dealt themself another card, getting twenty-two themselves. The man was then given his winnings from that hand, which led to Danyel then deciding to leave the table.
Danyel was almost at the entrance to the poker machines, or slot machines, whatever you want to call them, whne she felt a tap on her shoulder. She had a feeling that it would be just another person who happened to recognise her from the show. Danyel let out a sigh, and turned around, rolling her eyes. But she soon stopped, and smiled, seeing who it was. She looked at him, really looking at him this time. "If you want. Sure. I won't say no to a drink." He didn't look too bad looking, and she wasn't doing anything.
But as she smiled, she noticed him really looking at her. Oh God no, Danyel thought, here we go. Then he asked her the question that she had been waiting to here escape his lips. "Yes I am. Did you want an autograph or something? Or are you a reporter. An interview, over a drink maybe. But if you want that, you should go through my agent to organise a better time for that." Danyel then began to rummage through her bag to find her agent's card.

When the woman lost her second game and Matt had said it sucked, she had just shrugged and said 'oh well'. It was as if she wasn't letting it bother her, and yet Matt couldn't help but wonder if she was a little disappointed in not winning. However, after the dealer lost their hand and gave Matt his winnings, the woman had left the table, which prompted Matt to do the same thing and follow after her. Once he reached her he had tapped her on the shoulder and asked if she would like a drink.
He did notice when she turned around that she seemed to be rolling her eyes, and then he noticed her stop and smile instead. She had a nice smile he noticed, she then answered saying sure, if he wanted, and that she wouldn't say no to a drink. He gave her a bright smile then. "Great. What can I get you then?" He asked, he already knew he was going to have another beer himself. It wasn't as if he had to drive anywhere soon, he was staying in the Corinthian Hotel for the night, before heading back to Laughlin tomorrow.
A moment later however, Matt began to recognise the woman and asked if she was from the show Stargate. When she said she was and then sort or rambled slightly, asking if he wanted an autograph or if he was a reporter and wanted an interview to go through her agent. It took Matt all his time not to laugh out loud. "No, no, nothing like that at all. It's just my..." wait, what could he call her, she wasn't really his daughter, but to him, for all intents and purposes she was his daughter. "...My daughter watches it, I've only seen it on when I've been in the same room as her. She's not with me anymore, some shit has happened, and well I've been missing her, and recently I've been watching it, probably crazy, but it's been making me feel closer to her."
Now he really had no idea why he had just spilled all of that off to this woman, she was an actress, she didn't need any of that sort of crap, he then shrugged his shoulders slightly, "Sorry, don't know where that all came from, but I'm not a reporter and not after an interview."

Danyel had turned around, kind of annoyed, until she saw who it was that was following her. She had given him one of her winning smiles, when she was looking and talking to a guy. Danyel had agreed to have a drink with him, even if she didn't know his name yet. He then asked what he could get her. "Well, I drink anything. A cocktail might be good. Haven't really had those since I was travelling all those years ago." Giggling, she thought it was funny, how it had been sometime since she had done the travelling thing. She had never gone to collage, and travelling was her education.
She had no idea why she was kind of flipping out a bit, asking him if he was after an autograph or an interview, due to him recognising her. She saw that he wanted to laugh, but he didn't. Danyel raised an eyebrow, as the guy said that no, it was nothing like that. She began to relax a little. She really hated interviews, always ending up rambling about herself, more than the show anyway. Then he mentioned about his daughter watching the show, and seeing a bit when he was in the room.
But then he mentioned that she was not with him anymore, and that he watches it to feel closer to her. Danyel's heart began to break just a little, which was hard for someone who put on this hard shell around herself. She put a gentle hand on his arm. "No. It's okay. And it's not crazy. You want to feel closer to your daughter, and it gives the show more ratings." Danyel giggled then, smiling at the man. "Besides. You don't have to feel lonely. I am here. Let's go and get that drink."
Without waiting, Danyel headed over to a table, near the bar. As she sat, she waved over one of the bartenders. "Hey gorgeous. Can you get us a couple of drinks? I will have one of your fruitiest cocktails. What did you want?" She looked at the man, to see what he wanted, then the barman left to get their drinks. Danyel turned to the man. "Before we have a chat, my name's Danyel Balle." She put her hand out to shake. "But you probably knew that already." She gave him another smile.

When Matt had asked the woman what she wanted to drink, she said she drank anything but a cocktail might be nice, and went on to say she hadn't had one for a while. She had then laughed a little, Matt's eyes were smiling at her, before he broke into a smile himself. "Alright, cocktail it is then." He would more than likely just stick to his usual drink which was beer.
When he had pointed out if she was from the TV show Stargate, he noticed she seemed to get a bit weird asking if he wanted an autograph or interview or something. It had taken him all his time not to laugh, but he did eventually tell her that it was nothing like that and told her about Molly who watches the show. He had then also told her that she wasn't with him anymore, and had no idea why he had come away with it all. At least he hadn't scared her off, when he felt her hand on his arm.
He couldn't help but smile when she spoke, she seemed to understand what he was saying about watching the show to make him feel closer to Molly. Although she did add in a bit about the show getting ratings, and giggled, which Matt laughed along to as well. "Glad you understand what I'm talking about, and yeah I guess it does give the show more ratings." She then added that he didn't have to be lonely and they were to go get that drink. He couldn't help but grin at her then.
"Alright, sounds good enough to me." She then began to head over to a table near the bar, so Matt followed her and sat down opposite to her, she then spoke to the bartender asking for a couple of drinks. She then asked for the fruitiest cocktail and then turned to Matt asking what he wanted. "A beer would be good thanks, but I'm paying for these." He wanted to make that clear, as he had been the one to ask if he could get her a drink. Once the order was placed the barman went to get their drinks and the woman introduced herself.
He took the offered hand, and smiled, "To be honest, I never pay much attention to the credits, so wasn't sure of your name, I'm embarrassed to say. It's good to meet you Danyel, I'm Matthew Parkman, most people call me Matt though." He knew he probably should have introduced himself much sooner, but he was too caught up with his win, something which normally didn't happen with Matt, he was never usually the luckiest guy in the world.
Not long after their introduction the barman came back with their drinks. "Thanks sir." Matt then took out some money from his wallet and handed it over to pay for the drinks. Soon they were alone, or at least, alone at their table. "So, apart from being a rather talented actress, what else does Danyel like to do?" Matt asked, thinking that he should try to get some sort of conversation started between them. Maybe his luck was about to change in lonely stakes.

Danyel smiled, when the guy said that he was glad she understood. "I am like that. Understanding, I mean." Then she had commented about not being lonely, as they were going to go and get a drink. They soon headed over to the table, where she ordered the fruitest cocktail, and then the man ordered a beer. Danyel smiled at him, when he said that he was paying. She wasn't going to argue with that.
When he took her hand, when she introduced herself, she smiled at him, when he was being honest about not paying attention to the credits. She shook his hand a bit more, when he said his name. "Well, it's also nice to meet you too Matt." She let go fo his hand, and looked around. Danyel thought that this casino was nice, one that she knew she would visit again. Then the barman came back with their drinks. Danyel gave the barman a bright smile, as Matt thanks him.
Danyel took a sip of her drink through the straw. "Oh God. This is good. Love the strawberries in this. Will have to order another after this one is gone." After she spoke, Danyel looked at Matt, when he asked her what else does she like to do. Well, she thought to herself, as she sipped on the cocktail a bit more, maybe I should go for the clean stuff first, wouldn't want to scare him away with dirty talk.
"Well. I like listening to most types of music, but love upbeat stuff that you can dance to. Loving having fun, and just going out on the town. But you probably guessed a little of that, as I am here at a casino, where fun is all you have. Not sure if I would play blackjack again though. It's okay for some fun, but not the type that I am into." She smirked a little, wondered if she had suggested that sort of thing with a guy she just met.
So in order to continue to say things about herself, she decided to mention other attributes of herself. "I dabble in a little writing, and find that I definately type faster than I write. Picked up typing when at school, so that was handy. Not much else to say about me, other than I like savoury food and chocolate. But who doesn't like chocolate." Danyel giggled a bit, and bit on her straw. Now she was rambling, and it was all about her.

Matt had thanked the woman for understanding and she said she was like that, understanding. Matt couldn't help but smile at her and nodded his head in acknowledgment. He had to agree, she was definitely understanding. He did begin to wonder if his luck might be in with this woman, or if they'd just become good friends. After all, being an actress on a show, would mean she'd have many weeks away filming. He mentally slapped himself, he was getting ahead of himself, way too much.
They had then introduced themselves, and Danyelle said it was nice to meet him, so he gave her one of his bright smiles then. They got their drinks, and Matt paid for them. He took a sip of his beer almost right away. Then he watched as Danyel took a sip of her cocktail through a straw. He couldn't help but grin at her response. "Well, I'm glad you find it satisfying. Maybe you'll allow me to buy you another when it's finished." He was definitely chatting her up and he didn't care, he just hoped he still had it in him. Although after scooping up Jenna a while back, he figured he couldn't be that bad.
Matt had then asked what else did she like to do, and he just kept smiling at her waiting for her response. When she was silent for a few seconds, he could have been naughty and delved into her thoughts, but he didn't want to do that, as he had made a promise to himself, he would never invade anybody's privacy again unless it was really, really necessary. However, Danyel soon began to speak. Matt just kept smiling and nodding his head in various places, until she stopped for a breath, not wanting to be rude and interrupt her at any point.
He raised his eyebrows at the 'not the type that I am into.' It didn't really take a telepathic or a genius to work out that she was talking about naughty fun, but Matt being Matt, wanted her to elaborate on it more, so he couldn't help but say, "I love most types of music as well, but I'm interested to know what type of fun you are into?" He couldn't help but put emphasis on the word 'are', it could very well be he was right and maybe he could have a bit of fun himself, with Danyel.
She then went on to say she did a bit of writing, loved savoury food and chocolate, but who didn't love chocolate. Matt grinned and then winked a little, "A woman after my own heart, love savoury food and chocolate myself as it happens." Just a little something it would appear they had in common. "So, what kind of writing do you do? Is it stories, or poetry?"

Danyel smiled at Matt, as he smiled at what she said. "Well then. Just might take you up on that offer." She looked down at her straw and began to move it around with her fingers. It was definately a drink that she would have to order again. Something to have as she continued talking to Matt. He seemed nice enough so far, and didn't seem like anyone who would be forcing himself on her. Matt seemed totally different, which was nice. A gentleman if you will.
Danyel rambled on then, after Matt asked her what else she liked to do. Most of what she said was the typical stuff that everyone knew about her, so it might have been new to Matt's ears. Once she had mention about blackjack not being her type of fun, she had wondered if she should have hinted at what she might like to do. But it seemed that Matt wanted more information what she had said. So to start off, asked him what sort of music he was into. "Well, first. What type of music are you into? Now will answer your question."
Danyel looked sideways, letting a cheeky grin move along her lips. Leaning in closer to Matt, so that he was the only one to hear any of what she was about to say, she began. "Well. I like hitting the town, and doing some dancing. But some of my type of fun is normally done in the privacy of a bedroom." She eyed him off then, and then lent back into her chair, picking up her drink, and having a sip of it through her straw. There she said what she had to say, and Danyel hoped that he wasn't too taken aback about what she had said.
After her comments about others things she liked doing and eating, Matt had grinned and spoken about loving savoury foods and chocolate. Danyel grinned. "Well, we might just have to see about eating those foods together sometime." Was she seriously already thinking about going out on a date with him. Well, Danyel thought, I might as well just ask the question. But first Matt asked her what kind of writing she was into. "Well, I like writing short stories. But since being on the show, and I am sorry if this sounds a bit sad, but I do like to write small fan fictions for my character. I just love my character, and just think that she suits a certain character on there. But I doubt anything will ever happen between them in all honesty." Danyel put a finger up to her lips. "If only I was a writer on the show." She then giggled, thinking that that will never happen.
Danyel then decided to ask Matt what she had been thinking about doing. She twirled the straw in her glass, then looked at Matt slowly. "So. If you are not doing anything now, maybe we could go and get a bite to eat? Not sure what restaurants are around. Just as long as they serve savoury food, we will be happy." She smiled, then waited to see what Matt might think of her being so forward and taking control of the situation.
