12th December, 2009
Matt stood in the meeting room as his boss and multiple other members of staff stood around as well, a new mission about to be up for grabs. "Alright guys, we all know that the evolved human thr..." He began to say by seeing Matt in the back of the room, eyeing him intently. Matt knew what he was going to say. "Why don't you just say it. Evolved Human Threat. Cause that's what we all are. A threat." He said with a sarcastic, poisonous tone as the boss cleared his throat.
"As I was saying... There are those who are dangerous to others out there. I've been ordered to pursue the main one." He said as he clicked his little remote, the screen behind him showing a picture of Sylar. Half the room gasped silently and murmurs began to break out. "People, please! I know he's a major one, but President Petrelli wants him out." The boss said, as one staff member stood up.
"Well he can suck it! He can go out there and try to kill him. That guy's immortal!" He said as Matt scoffed under his breath, the man turning to him. "Oh what freak, you think cause you're the same as he is, you can take him?" The man said, as Matt got up from his leaning position, his hands glazing over in metal, small spikes sticking out them. "Call me a freak again Johnson. I'll send you home to your mama in a body bag!" He said as Johnson got up, having to held back by fellow members.
"ENOUGH!" The boss yelled out as everyone looked at him and slowly, everyone began to hush and be as they were. "I know everyone is scared... That's why Tobruk is the one going after him." The boss said as everyone suddenly turned to Matt, Matt's eyes widening a little. "Um... What?" He simply said, dumbfounded that he would be asked to do this alone.
"I said you're going alone! No one here has the reso..." He began, before Matt teleported over the boss, his eyes filled with rage. "SO BECAUSE I'M A SPECIAL, I HAVE TO FIGHT HIM ALONE!" He said, the room shaking a little from his metal manipulation ability activating. Matt quickly gathered himself and calmed down, the boss stepping back in fear.
"You're the only one who stands a chance against him here!" He said, as everyone else also took a step back from Matt. Matt just glared at his boss for a moment, before saying, "This is the last time. I do this, and I'm out."
The boss looked at Matt with a look of confusion. "You can't leave. You know..." he began as Matt walked up to him, the boss stepping back again in fear. "As I said... The LAST time. You think you can blackmail me forever." He said, his face directly in front of his boss's. "You'll be sorry if you even think about coming after me..." He said with a murderous tone as he snatched the file out of the boss's hand, reading it to find Sylar's current location.
Matt threw the file in the boss' face as he closed his eyes, disappearing from the office. He appeared in a New Jersey city street, this town being the same one where he was spotted last. It was night fall as well, so the perfect time Sylar would be out. He'd track him from here, as he began to walk down the dark street, unaware his target was closer than he thought.

Sylar had been stalking this swimming instructor for awhile now, watching his movements as he went from his house to his daily duties, making notes of where he was and what he was doing to choose the best time to strike... like the ultimate predator. His attention from the man was drawn away for a moment, however, as he watched a man just suddenly appear in the street. Sylar had become comfortable with the man's schedule that he knew at this point the man was returning to his apartment to get some rest for school in the morning... too bad he wouldn't survive much longer.
Sylar had to be stealthy to capture this man, as being able to teleport made him very difficult to capture, at least conscious. Sylar took the most reasonable approach, following the man from behind until he came near an alleyway and, with a flick of his wrist, sent the man flying into opening. This ensured that it would give him the cover he needed to get what needed to be done and possibly daze the man long enough to get the cut into his skull to learn how his ability worked. Sylar had even been so lucky that it was so dark out that no one was really around to see the man fly into the alleyway. Sylar walked into the alleyway and looked around for the man, unsure where he went after he had been flung...

As Matt was walking, could hear footsteps around, but it was most likely a civilian in the area who was walking home. He'd seen a couple of people before, but they weren't of interest. And they're thoughts weren't at the least interesting, in terms of what he wanted. However moments afterwards, Matt felt his body hurtling to the side, into a dark alleyway. It had to be him. No one else would randomly throw someone into a dark alleyway. While the attack was unexpected, Matt was prepared for this.
So in the moment of being dazed, Matt quickly regained himself, hitting the ground in a dive rolling motion, quickly getting back onto his feet as he watched Sylar walk into the alley. "Seriously... The old 'let's toss the helpless victim into an alley' play? I expected better from the most feared person on the planet." Matt said, smiling as his eyes bore into Sylar's. He was trying to get a reading on his thoughts... Nothing. Not even the slightest sound. He could block his mind. That was a buzz kill for Matt. He'd have go in and take an ability from Sylar. Not yet though. He had be patient and see what he was truly capable of.
"So... How about you come with me, I arrest you for crimes against specials, and I can go home." Matt said with a shrug, smiling innocently at Sylar in a mocking way. "What do you say Gabe?" He asked with his mock smile.

As Sylar entered into the alleyway, he smirked to see the man still up and about, however was slightly disappointed that he may have to try something different other then a cheap tactic; He didn't really do that much research on this man, but such a task was difficult with a teleporter as they could leave to locations unknown for hours at a moments notice. He remembered once he had tried to hunt down one after meeting Chandra but was without luck as the man had been gone for weeks at a time and left Sylar no chance to ever see his face; Without the face he couldn't know who he was looking for.
"Seriously... The old 'let's toss the helpless victim into an alley' play? I expected better from the most feared person on the planet."
Sylar looked at him with slight confusion. Did this man know who he was? Obviously he knew what he was after the initial demonstration of flinging him into an alleyway... but did he know he was Sylar, the most powerful of specials? "So you know who I am then? But do you know what I can do?"
"So... How about you come with me, I arrest you for crimes against specials, and I can go home... What do you say Gabe?"
Sylar could see his mocking smile, as if he really believed that he was superior to him. Sylar just looked at him, "Gabe... no one has called me Gabriel or any sort of abbreviation of the name until recently. Why such arrogance against a man who will wind up taking a peak into that brain of yours?" Sylar studied the man, he was trained well as his Intuitive Aptitude studied the body language of the man, allowing him to get a sense of what sort of fighter he was going against. This man was arrogant, but he appeared to possess a good center of gravity and, with it, a good possibility he knew how to use it effectively. He just smirked as he finished inspecting the man.
Sylar put both his arms down to his sides and two orbs of electrical energy sat there, charging. "Now, you can either challenge someone who you have no chance in beating - or you can run. Either way, you're going to die... just a part of natural selection."

Matt just smiled as Sylar looked at him with confusion as Matt had mocked his tactics earlier. This was good. Making Sylar feel as though he was dealing with something out of the known. So Sylar decided to use a fear tactic and said that if Matt knew who he was, did he know what Sylar could do? "Oh yeah, you rip open people's head, steal their powers. I personally think that's a sick way to absorb powers... but hey, to each their own, right?" He said with a smile, carefully watching Sylar's movements to make sure he wasn't about to try anything funny.
After Matt had mocked Sylar by referring to him as 'Gabe', Sylar seemed to be annoyed at that remark and replied with a question as to why Matt was mocking someone who would eventually take a peek at his brain. Matt just smiled about to give an answer, as Sylar charged up two balls of electricity. He gave Matt a choice as to whether he could run or fight, with either option ending in his death. Matt just chuckled.
"Oh boy... You're in for real big surprise pal..." Matt said as he teleported behind Sylar, his hands immediately glossing over in metal spikes and with a super speed punch, aimed his fist directly to the back of Sylar's head.

"Oh yeah, you rip open people's head, steal their powers. I personally think that's a sick way to absorb powers... but hey, to each their own, right?"
He smirked slightly as the man talked about him ripping people's heads open; Was that all really did? He thought he was a bit more original then that. He couldn't help but defend his method, "Splitting the molecules apart at their bonds with merely a thought is hardly the same thing as 'ripping'. You have any idea how hard it is to keep someone alive long enough just to study their brains?"
"Oh boy... You're in for real big surprise pal..."
He then extended his hand and shot out an electric burst as he yelled, "Guess again" His blast, however, missed as the man disappeared as it traveled through the air, Sylar feeling time slow down around him as he used his ability of Time Dilation to watch as the man disappeared, allowing Sylar enough time to become aware of the man's materializing location: Behind him. As he turned quickly he saw an incoming fist full of spikes at a superhuman speed, well superhuman to those who couldn't keep up with their eyes.
As Sylar turned he used a combination of his telekinesis and electrokinesis, using it as a form of super strength to catch the incoming fist (also impaling his own hand) and causing electricity to course down into the man's metallic arm. The effects of such a current would be similar to being tazered: quick, painful, and paralyzing. He smirked as he allowed his hand to heal around the metallic spikes, holding the two more tightly together. "Well now, you didn't really think that was going to work did you?"

Sylar went on to explain how hard it was to keep people alive long enough to study their brains, like it was some sort of science. Damn this man had gone off the rails big time... "Wow. Smart and Psychopathic. Every girlfriend's dream boyfriend, huh?" He said with a smirk as he watched Sylar begin to charge his electricity.
However what Matt wasn't prepared for was when he teleported behind Sylar, Sylar seemed to be moving at a superhuman rate. Not Superspeed, but something else. Matt's main strategy of overwhleming him had just gone out the window. He watched as Sylar grabbed Matt's hand, the spikes impaling his fists, that he seemed to catch with telekinetically enhanced strength. Then the shocks came.
Matt flinched in pain as his metallic covering disappeared, his healing kicking in to quickly begin working on the nerves that had been shocked. The pain wasn't as bad after a second or two. Matt just smiled as his fist began to glow slightly, Matt absorbing Sylar's ability of telekinesis. "Thanks for the T.K. I love that power." He said as he immediately let out a blast of telekinetic energy from his body, the force of the blast equaling the feeling of being hit by a truck at 60km. However Matt was also blasted back by his pulse of energy, hitting a wall behind him, falling to the ground in a slump.
He quickly got back up, watching for Sylar's reaction.

"Wow. Smart and Psychopathic. Every girlfriend's dream boyfriend, huh?"
Sylar had been unable to react to his statement before he spoke and, shortly after he grabbed on to Matt, just smirked once more as the electricity flowed, "Smart? Yes. Psychopathic? Maybe a little, but in this world everyone is a little crazy." Sylar noticed Matt's metal retract back into the flesh as he winced in pain from the shocks, " And as for girlfriends dream boyfriend, I'd say tha-" As Sylar tried to finish speaking he was interrupted as he noticed that not only was the man no longer in pain from the shocking, but a glow was coming from his hand as Sylar touched his skin.
"Thanks for the T.K. I love that power."
Of course it would have to be Sylar's luck that he would be another power mimic. Before getting time to completely prepare for the incoming blast Sylar was blown back along with Matt as their telekinetic energy collided between them, slamming him straight into the wall and actually cracking the cement. Sylar leaned forward, slightly dazed and touched the back of his head. "Blood?", he thought to himself as he felt the wound heal, the pain and dizziness only being for a moment. He hadn't met any others besides Peter Petrelli, making him initially believe they were just that rare; But what were the odds of there being three who could take abilities in the exact same city? Very unlikely was his original thoughts about it, however he had just been proven wrong. Now Sylar was concerned there would be plenty of them out there now that people were using their abilities out in the open.
Sylar stood up and brushed off his long black jacket as he looked over Matt, inspecting him with his Intuitive Aptitude as he tried to understand his abilities; He would have to watch him closely as he performed them on Sylar to pick any up in this fight, maintaining a level of focus on Matt in order to understand them while his Enhanced Memory allowed him to analyze it in his head further after closer observation. "Not bad. You seemed to have taken one of my abilities. But don't worry..." His hands froze over as a sort of frosty steam came off the icy cold temperatures, "I've got plenty more then just that one." Sylar had learned that he could do more then just freeze objects he touched, but could actually spray it out in front of him. Sylar kept his ability of Time Dilation active in order to be able to track Matt's movements and, a few seconds later, extended his hand at an accelerated rate causing a frosty blast from his hand aimed directly at Matt.

Matt recoiled from the impact of the telekinetic blast, feeling sore over his body as the bruises healed over within seconds, watching as Sylar seemed to be dazed, feeling the back of his head to see blood on his fingers. He wasn't expecting an attack like that, and neither was Matt for that matter. He'd fought a lot of telekinetics and picked up on how to use the ability by observation, but observing and practice were two different things. Matt would have to learn. And fast.
Sylar straightened himself up, dusting his coat off as he seemed to be looking at Matt intently. He was probably reading him with his natural ability. Trying to understand how Matt worked. While he may be able to understand his abilities, he couldn't penetrate Matt's mind. Only the most powerful telepaths would be able to breach his mind, as Matt had trained himself to block his mind from pretty much anyone.
Matt mockingly bowed as Sylar complimented Matt for taking an ability. "Yeah, that's kinda what I do." He said with a smirk as Sylar's hand began to frost over, Matt raising an eyebrow. Sylar then commented that he had more than one. "Bring it on..." He simply said, his eyes narrowing as his tone became serious. Sylar then thrusted his hand forward, spraying the icy power towards Matt in an attempt to freeze him.
Matt crouching down, quickly jumped up, using his enhanced speed to apply more force as he jumped up, the ice spray barely missing his feet, the tips of Matt's shoes freezing over. While in the air, Matt teleported behind Sylar into a crouching pose, aiming a kick towards Sylar. However before it impacted, he quickly teleported again in front of Sylar, following through with the kick.

"Yeah, that's kinda what I do... bring it on..."
The man was arrogant and showed no fear to someone who had killed many individuals just like him: people with abilities. Sylar watched was the man jumped at a superhuman speed into the air, using the additional strength granted by the speed to leap exceptionally high. Sylar continued to study this ability as it was the one Matt seemed to be using the most. A few more uses and Sylar would understand fully how he was doing it and, by association, gain the ability to mimic it himself. Although his attack missed this man mostly his eyes caught the slight icing over of the soles of his shoes; He was quick, but Sylar's ability to perceive time slower made up for it.
Once again Sylar perceived the man teleporting again as he watched him begin to materialize behind him. Sylar quickly turned around, extending his hand and finger tips towards the man and released a powerful wave of telekinetic energy, something that came with both experience and the increased power from his base ability. It was too late, however, and the ability merely blasted the wall, ripping the bricks apart into essentially dust as they flew into the building, setting off the alarm inside; What were the odds it was a jewelry store?
Before being able to figure out where Matt had reappeared he was sent flying inside the store from a powerful kick; The increased force was caused by the excess of kinetic energy from the super speed. Sylar flew face forward into the store, smashing into a glass counter and causing him to be impaled by large shards. Blood poured out into the floor as Sylar lied motionless for a moment...
Sylar had been tricked into expecting an attack behind, but his analysis of how the man fought would only keep getting more and more advanced until he could predict his movements. Sylar stood up, extending his hands downward with his palms facing in front of him, the blades of glass ripped out of his body, the wounds healing shortly after, and were then sent outside of the darkened room and through the hole towards Matt at a speed similar to that of a bullet... this made them dangerous and difficult to evade.

Matt watched as his attack landed on Sylar, the brute force of his enhanced kick sending the serial killer flying into a jewelry store he just telekinetically blasted a moment ago in a failed attempt to take down the heroic power mimic. Matt smiled as Sylar laid motionless for a moment. "Wow... What a big bad scary killer. I'm soooo scared." He mockingly annouced to Sylar as he watched Sylar stand, his sillouette in the darkness thrusting his hands forward. Matt quickly covered his face in metal while the glass shards hit his body, slicing through like a knife through hot butter.
"Gah!" He said as he leaned over, the metal fading from his face as he took deep breaths, the pain subsiding as quickly as it came, as the glass was pushed out of his body, which was covered in blood now. Matt looked up to Sylar, his pupils shrinking slightly as his body covered itself in a condensed metallic lead. This was for two reasons. One to protect his body from anymore attacks such as the last one. And two, because lead didn't conduct electricity and blocked radiation.
"No more playing around..." He said as he sent a powerful telepathic blast to Sylar, hoping that as one of the government's best telepaths, he'd be able to penetrate Sylar's defenses.

"Wow... What a big bad scary killer. I'm soooo scared."
The sarcastic tone was back, but only for a moment until the razor sharp shards of glass flew at him. The shifting of metal on his face protected his head from injury; To Sylar hitting him there would be pointless to do as it defeated the whole purpose of trying to capture him. The only advantage to impaling him in the head is to cut open the skull before removing the shard which, by the way, is very difficult to do against someone who is fighting back and has the skills to do so.
"Gah!"
Matt fell to the ground as Sylar watched before the glass slowly pushed out of his skin and fell to the ground, his body now too covered in blood just like Sylar's. As Matt shifted into his metallic form Sylar extended his hands in front of him as they began to glow bright. "These alarms are annoying. First off, they're ruining our ability to mock one another. Second, it's going to get the police here and that's just not any fun." A blast then came outward as the light turned into a blinding flash followed by complete silence as the electrical devices in the area stopped dead. "... Now that's much better," Sylar spoke with a smirk on his face as he walked towards Matt, stepping through the hole in the wall.
"No more playing around..."
Sylar nodded, "I agree. Mommy always told me never to play with my food." It was then Sylar felt Matt begin to try and rip into his mind and get past his barriers. Not only this he actually believed he was capable of doing so; He was sadly mistaken. As Sylar fought Matt out in only a few moments he sent a telepathic feedback back into Matt, similar to what he had done to Parkman before in the past. "You're good, but Parkman was better..." Sylar spoke with a confident tone.
He then crossed his arms with a slight smile, knowing that Matt was probably running out of options in ways to beat Sylar. To Sylar he considered it as impossible to best him, after all the only person who even came close was Peter Petrelli and that was way back just before Pinehearst. "You know in some countries trying to get inside another man's thoughts is considered gay. Best hope that the government doesn't find out about your little 'Don't ask, don't tell' slip up," He said in a mocking tone to Matt. It was about time Sylar got to be the cocky one for once...

Matt watched as his telepathic attack did nothing, his eyes widening a little as he watched Sylar basically look as though nothing was wrong. Like his mind was clear. What kind of ability did he possess if he could brush off a telepathic attack? So when Sylar commented on how Matt was good, but Parkman was better. Matt Parkman was probably who he was referring to, the telepathic cop, guardian of Molly Walker. Matt watched as Sylar mocked Matt with the comment about how trying to read another man's thoughts was considered a gay act in some countries. So he wanted to mock fight? Matt would oblige easily. "Wow... This is coming from the bushy browed villian with a big nose. You'd know all about what's considered gay, wouldn't you?" He asked Sylar, smirking at him as he tensed his fists, looking at Sylar with intent eyes. "So... assuming you feel pain, right? How'd you like to experience the pain you felt a couple of moments ago?" He said as he accessed a power he only saved for emergencies. A power he hated using, but felt it was necessary. He focused on Sylar as he reversed time around the killer, opening up old wounds which had been sustained from the jewelry store. No glass, no objects. Just the wounds ripping apart again. After doing so, Matt quickly jerked his head forward, sending out a telekinetic pulse of energy to Sylar, which also pushed Matt back a little, his feet sliding along to the floor a couple of feet. (Hey, if this is like GodModding or something, just let me know and I'll edit )

"Wow... This is coming from the bushy browed villain with a big nose. You'd know all about what's considered gay, wouldn't you?"
Sylar laughed at this as he glanced at the bricks behind Matt, focusing on them slightly as the base of them began to inch slowly inside the wall while the others began to pull towards him; Sylar was moving the wall, slowly, as they were talking. "Bushy browed villain with a big nose is gay? I thought a nicely hand-plucked eyebrows such as yourself was the sign of one of your kind..."
"So... assuming you feel pain, right? How'd you like to experience the pain you felt a couple of moments ago?"
Sylar smirked slightly as pointed his fingers towards Matt, "How would I like to feel it. Does bang, your dead come close?" A small blast of telekinetic energy shot from his finger tips and struck a brick at the base of the wall, the only remaining one that held the wall from tumbling upon Matt; It was teetering now and began to lean towards him. Sylar hadn't been quick enough to hit the wall as he felt his wounds begin to open once more as the young man appeared to alter time around him, reversing the healing process that he had performed by regeneration. The tissue began to unravel as the muscle tore apart once more, blood pouring from the various wounds on his body... the process was quite painful to say the least and it appeared to be too much for Sylar to maintain standing any longer and remain silent.
Sylar yelled immensely loud as it felt as though someone had stuck a knives throughout his body and was continuing to turn them all simultaneously, tearing the flesh just that much more. Despite the pain, Sylar still contained a slight focus on Matt and continued to observe him and learning of his ability. The observation of the ability was cut short, however, as Matt sent a telekinetic blast to Sylar, pushing him out of the bubble of time alteration and back inside of the store; This blast was more powerful then the one previously, pushing him so far back as to cause him to smack into the other wall completely on the other side of the store.
Sylar lied bloody once more on the floor as his wounds began to heal; Sylar wasn't one to get mad, but this man was truly starting to piss him off. As Sylar remained on the floor, unable to stand just yet as his tendons began to sew back together across his body; This still didn't stop Sylar from doing what he needed to. As Sylar was still on the floor he extended his hand and then suddenly clasped it shut into a fist and pulled it towards him... the segment of the wall was suddenly just ripped out and was now being pulled at an incredible rate of speed, and only picking up speed as gravity helped pull it down with Sylar's assistance.

Matt smirked as Sylar replied to his comment about pain, asking if 'bang, you're dead came close?'. Matt just smiled as he performed his attack on the serial killer, focusing on the wounds which were pulling apart once again. His reaction was perfect. The oh-so powerful serial killer, falling mercy to the hero. It was something Matt had dreamed about for a year.
However, with his telekinetic blast a bit too powerful, Matt slid back, hitting the wall that was leaning towards him, somewhat straightening it a little. Matt still felt a couple of cracks as his ribs broke, the pain causing him to hiss as he felt it. However it subsided as quickly as it came, with his body healing.
He looked up with with concerned eyes as he watched where Sylar had basically smashed into. Matt had put more power into that blast than he had originally planned. "Wow... gotta learn to control that power more..." He noted to himself, panting a little as he watched Sylar's hand clenching. "Oh crap..." He said as he quickly covered himself in a steel coating, his top half of his body covered as the wall behind him smashed into Matt with an incredible force. Matt's metallic armor coating broke off in places, Matt screaming in pain as the wall crashed down on him, breaking bones and blood pouring out of wounds.
Matt looked up at the rubble which had fallen on top of him, the weight too much for him to push off. Instead he would have to try something else. His telekinetic pulses were powerful... So why not use them in this situation. He looked up and focused his mind on the rubble, which began to shake a little as Matt let out a mighty roar, blasting all the debris off of him, bits of brick flying everywhere. He looked down to see a couple of ribs and his thigh bone sticking out of the skin.
He reached over and painfully pushed them back into place, grunting in pain as the bones snapped back in, healing within seconds. He looked back up to see if Sylar was still in the store, although it was unlikely. Matt just kept vigilant, looking around to see where the serial killer would pop out.
