Friday 2nd October, 2009 It had been almost two weeks since Rebekah had met Jacob Bodell in Texas on the 19th September and Rebekah hadn’t looked back since. He was such a nice guy and he treated her like she had never been treated before, she felt special when she was in his company. However, Rebekah held a dark secret close to her chest, and she figured if their relationship was to go anywhere maybe she should tell him all about it, because she was usually having to watch her back all the time, and it wasn’t fair to bring someone into her life without them knowing the full facts. She wasn’t sure how he would take to what she had to tell him, but really, he ought to know. So she had sent him a text message and told him she was going to visit him in the evening as she needed to speak to him about something, and she felt it was better at his apartment, away from prying eyes and ears. Rebekah still lived in Lower Manhattan at the Linderman residence with her brother Ryan, but sometimes she felt as if she could do with being in a smaller apartment, Ryan’s house was massive as it was left to him by his father Daniel Linderman who was one of the biggest money making men she knew of other than the Petrelli family she was now a part of. She hoped, truly hoped that what she had to tell Jacob wouldn’t make him leave her, she had told both James and Luke in the past and they had seemed fine with it, but both Luke and James were, well not like Jacob, he seemed much softer than Luke and James ever were, and in many ways that’s why Rebekah liked him so much and it’s why she had to tell him the truth. She arrived at Jacob’s apartment about half an hour after she left her home, and knocked on his door. She then stood with her back leaning up against the side wall, with her thumb in her mouth, chewing down nervously on her nail, not that she actually bit her nails, just pretended to, it was just something she did when she was feeling nervous, that and playing with her hair with her fingers, but that was usually when she was nervous for good reasons, the thumb nail in her mouth was when she was nervous for bad reasons.

Jacob felt that he was the the happiest and luckiest guy alive right now. He had met the most amazing young woman that he could have ever met, and he thought himself lucky to have found her. It had only been a random meeting, but it turned out great in the end. Everything about her he liked, and normally he wouldn't put out any stops with his charm. He did converse with her as he normally did, but it seemed that they both were liking what each other was saying and doing, and one thing led to another. Now was the trick of keeping her, which Jacob knew was going to be a task for him, as he normally didnt' hold a girl down for long. But with Rebekah he had a feeling he would somehow.
So today was Jacob's day to just relax, after his gig last night at the local club down the road from where he lived. The club was quite packed for a Thursday night, but did notice that it was allowing students from the university to only pay half of the cover charge, and free drinks after ten o'clock. So really it was an incentive for them to all come. Jacob had played some of his older stuff, and played some new stuff that he had written after meeting Rebekah. Some of those songs were inspired by her, but he didn't know if she knew or now. If she did, he didn't care. She was the most amazing person to come into this life.
He had gotten a text from her during the day, saying that she was going to come over in the evening. Jacob of cause didn't hesitate to text back, so that that he was glad for the company, especially when it was her that was the company. He had also added to come for dinner. So for the rest of the day, Jacob had a short sleep, to catch up from lack of sleep during the night, even his way of putting him to sleep didn't work. After this, Jacob then got to work on making something for them for dinner.
While the meat sauce was cooking and the pasta for the spaghetti bolognese, Jacob had sat down in the lounge room, and put on the cd that his friend had made for him from his performance last night. He closed his eyes and took in what he was hearing, picking up on anything that he could change, or add in there at all. After a while, Jacob got up to stir the meat sauce, knowing that it was probably close to finishing. As he entered the kitchen, he hard a knock at the door. A broad smile crept onto his lips, and turned to answer the door. Once he opened the door, he continued to smile at Rebekah, but did notice that she looked a little nervous. "Hey Bek. You are just in time for dinner. Come in." He stepped a side, and watched her enter, wondering what was wrong.

Rebekah was scared. It was the only word to describe the way she was feeling right now. Part of her knew she had to tell Jacob about her past, and the other part of her felt it would be best to leave it well and truly locked in the closet. She had been arguing about it with herself for the past week, but every time she thought about not telling him, she would visualise the scene when he would find out by other means and she’d have a lot of explaining to do and then he would ask why she didn’t tell him the truth in the first place and she would ultimately lose him anyway. She just didn’t think it was worth it. It was best he got to know and if he decided he couldn’t be with her anymore, well at least she knew she had been honest, and it would be over before she got deeply involved with him.
The closer Rebekah got to Jacob’s apartment, the more nervous she had begun to feel, she just hoped it wouldn’t come over too much when she finally arrived at his apartment and he answered the door. After knocking on his door, she stood with her thumb in her mouth waiting on him answering, she should have been more careful with that move however, especially if she was trying not to show off she was nervous, but it was too late now as he answered the door. She gave him a smile, at least she hoped it was a smile and not a grimace, her nerves were really taking over now. He told her she was just in time for dinner and she to come in, stepping aside to allow her to do so.
She was quick to notice the aroma of the food which had been cooking and it smelled lovely. “Something smells nice Jacob.” She gave him what was hopefully more of a warmer and sincere smile, but inside she was still crumbling. What would be the best way to tell him? Should she just come right out with it now before dinner, or wait until after dinner and break it to him gently? Really she began to think, it wouldn’t make that much of a different, what she had to tell him was quite bad, but it had been done in self defence, she had told herself that over time and time again, still didn’t make it go away.
She decided telling him right away would be the best thing, because she would just sit there nervously chewing on her nail otherwise and he would eventually pick up on her mood and emotions and ask what was wrong. “There’s something I think I should tell you Jacob, I couldn’t tell you the day I met you, and I wanted to wait to make sure that we were definitely going to go somewhere before saying anything, but now I think it’s time you knew. I feel it’s been long enough to trust you, but hopefully not enough that it will make you angry I never told you sooner.” Well, there was the ice breaker, now she just had to wait on Jacob’s reaction to what she had just said to see if telling him the rest was going to as easy or not.

Jacob was wondering what was wrong. Rebekah was smiling somewhat, but he had seen her with her thumb in her mouth, which might not be a good sign in his book. He didn't know all the things about her, there was time for that, he wondered if that move was something that she did when she didn't like something. Jacob hoped that she wasn't breaking up with him, after two weeks. If that was the case, maybe something should be said before they had dinner. Then he would have leftovers for days.
As Rebekah headed into his apartment, she commented that something smelt nice. Jacob closed the door, then looked at her, noticing the smile a bit more brighter. So maybe his hunch of the whole breaking up was wrong. Maybe what she was thinking was nothing to do with him after all, so Jacob relaxed a bit more then. Jacob was about to ask if she wanted to sit down and have a drink, when Rebekah said that she had something to tell him. Jacob looked at her seriously then, wondering what she wanted to say, nodding slightly. Just hearing all she had just said made him kind of worried. What was it that she had to wait till now to tell him. It had really only been a couple of weeks, so it wasn't that long to wait for whatever she had to say to him. But it did sound rather important, after that long winded mini speech that she had just said.
"Well thank you for trusting me enough to tell me now, rather than later. Come and sit down, and I will get us a drink, okay?" He waited to see if she would sit in the lounge area, and he headed only a few steps to the kitchen, where he poured them each a glass of juice. Before Jacob headed back, he turned down the food, so that they barely were on simmer, and headed back to Rebekah. He offered her the glass. "Here you go." Jacob sat down in the lounge next to Rebekah. He reached for the remote to turn off the stereo, and then turned to her, giving her his full attention. "So what do you need to tell me."

Rebekah was so nervous about telling Jacob her secret, she had been chewing on her nail for quite a while now wondering how Jacob would take what she had to tell him, but at the back of her mind she had to keep telling herself that it had all been done in self defence, but still, she had killed two people with the friend of both of the deceased always on her tail, so it made Rebekah in many ways a danger to be around, Jacob had a right to know that so he could protect himself, and hopefully if he didn’t abandon her over it, help to protect her as well.
Rebekah had then given him a mini marathon of words and gave him a weak smile as she waited for a reply from him. When he did speak he thanked her for trusting him now rather than later and mentioned about getting them a drink. She nodded her head, “Thank you Jacob.” She had a feeling she would be taking a lot of sips of that drink as she told her story to him. She then sat down as he had instructed her to do and waited for Jacob to return with the drink. Soon he was back and he handed her a glass of juice which she took from him with a weak smile. “Thanks Jacob.” She took a sip right away, knowing that her mouth was already dry from what she had to tell him.
Jacob then took the remote and turned off the stereo and soon he was facing her giving her his full attention and asked her what she had to tell him. She took another sip of the juice inhaled deeply and then decided to start from the beginning. “Alright, a couple of years ago before Angela Petrelli adopted me to make me her son Ryan’s official sister I had a bit of a tough life. My parents were killed when I was very young and I was shipped from foster home to foster home because the soon as any of them found out about what I could do they didn’t want to know me anymore.” She stopped and took another sip of her juice before continuing on for another little bit, not wanting to overwhelm him with everything in one breath.
“I did eventually find a family who loved me and just as I was beginning to feel loved again, they were taken from me. I couldn’t handle it anymore and decided to look after myself. Just me and my cat Snowball. I couldn’t get a job, nobody would take me on because I was too young and the only way I could get money was by phasing my hand into fruit machines and stealing it. I’m not proud of myself, but it was the only way I could survive.” She stopped for yet another breath and took another sip of her drink, and wondered how much more she should tell him before letting him say something. Well really she might as well get to the main part of what was on her mind.
“Later on that night as I was heading home I was attacked. At the time I was frozen in fear and didn’t think about using my ability right away, another person who saw the attack tried to help me, but by the time they reached me I had found my inner strength from somewhere and the wall the guy had me up against with a knife to my throat, I found I was able to phase him through the wall with me, but instead of pulling him back through I phased myself back out letting go of him and left him there in the wall, I basically killed him.” She looked away from Jacob then, thinking about that day was bringing back all the bad memories and tears were stinging at her eyes. There was more to her story, but she figured she should leave some of it until after Jacob had commented on that first. “I feel terrible about it I really do, but both my previous boyfriends told me that all I did was defending myself, but...” She trailed off and this time the tears which had threatened to fall before were now freely falling down her face. She would soon know if Jacob still liked her or not if she found him consoling her or telling her to leave, but she really hoped it would be the consoling option he would choose, because Rebekah really, really liked Jacob and she didn’t want to lose him.

Jacob gave Rebekah the glass, and saw her take a sip straight away. Whatever she has to say must be important, thought Jacob. After turning off the stereo, he gave her his full attention, ready to hear what she had to tell him. Jacob listened to what she said first, nodding in several places, taking in what she wa saying. Rebekah took another drink of her drink, then continued. It seemed to Jacob that she had indeed been through a lot, and he felt that his own problems over the past few years were nothing compared to what she had to deal with.
She continued on talking, and just hearing what she had to do to survive, made Jacob just astounded. He couldn't imagine what she had gone through, but just felt that he should have been there earlier to help out if she needed it. At least he was getting to know her now, and hopefully be part of life. Jacob could tell that she had more to say, after she took some more of the juice, so he continued to keep his attention on her, and let her speak.
As Rebekah continued to speak to him, he raised his eyebrows at what she said about being attacked. Then she spoke more about what happened that night, and Jacob just couldn't believe what she had just said. He tried to not look shocked, but he could feel his mouth opening a little. But Rebekah then turned away from him. Jacob closed his mouth, and then moved towards her, wrapping his arms around her. "I can't believe you went through all that on your own, Bek." That was all he could say at that point in time. He just felt that the reassuring embrace was enough for now.
Rebekah then spoke more, and Jacob moved a little so that he could still look at her, even if she wasn't looking in his direction. She didn't get out her entire sentence before she began to cry. "Shh, Bek it is okay." He just pulled her into his arms, and just hugged her to himself until he felt the time was right to speak. A minute or so went passed, and Jacob then decided to speak to her. "I have to agree with your other boyfriends. You were defending yourself, and I think if any one of us were in your situation, we might have done the same."

Rebekah had basically rambled just about everything that had happened in her past to Jacob, she just thought he had a right to know, if they were going to continue their relationship, especially since Xavier had never really given up on trying to get a hold of her and kill her for what she had did to his friend. It didn’t matter if it was an accident or not, to Xavier it was no accident and she had done it on purpose. He was probably never going to stop hunting her down until he had killed her to get payback for his friend. Rebekah had turned away from Jacob, but it was comforting to have him put his arms around her and then say he couldn’t believe she had gone through all of that on her own. She was desperately trying to keep the tears from falling, but she was finding it difficult, and when Jacob said those words it became even more difficult. Rebekah then said that she felt terrible about what she had done but both her previous boyfriends told her she had just been defending herself, but she hadn’t been able to finish her sentence when the tears finally overtook her.
She then heard him hush her down and tell her it was okay and the next minute she was pulled into his embrace. Without any hesitation she wrapped her one arm around him and just leaned her head into his chest and began to sob her heart out. It hadn’t been easy reliving the past to tell Jacob about it, but she knew he had to know. Her story wasn’t quite finished yet either, she was sure the next part would shock him just as much as the first part, or if not shock him; anger him, but not to be angry at her, to be angry at the person who had done it all. If it hadn’t been for Ryan replacing her organs she might not be alive to tell the tale today. When Jacob spoke again he said that he agreed with her previous boyfriends and anyone else in that situation may have done the same thing. This made Rebekah feel slightly better knowing that he at least didn’t hate her for what she had done. She sat a bit then and composed herself, after wiping at her eyes and gave Jacob a rather watery smile.
“It feels good to hear you say that Jacob, and I’m sorry if I’ve brought our evening down, but I felt you had a right to know. And there’s a little more to it.” She then leaned forward to get her glass and took a rather sip of her juice to moisten her throat, before sitting back, but this time she turned to face Jacob and positioned herself, so that her hand was leaning on his chest. “A couple of months after that night, I was attacked again. Xavier, the ring leader as I found out his name, seemed hell-bent on getting me back for what I did to one of his friends. He and about four of his friends ran me down to the ground with a couple of knife attacks, both my lungs were punctured badly and I could hardly breathe. I thought I was going to die Jacob. It was horrible. If it hadn’t been for my adoptive brother Ryan I might not be here to tell the story today.” At least this time Rebekah was able to keep herself composed and the tears stayed away. She had now told him her full background and story, apart from one tiny detail, which she was just about to say.
“The thing is Jacob; I don’t think Xavier is ever going to stop until he kills me. All joking aside about having the bodyguards with me after Angela Petrelli adopted me; I do sometimes wonder just how safe I am. I could be dangerous to be around and this is why you deserved to know.” She moved to take another sip of her drink and once more sat back and snuggled into Jacob, right now being in his embrace felt good and it seemed like the safest place to be, but she wouldn’t blame him if he decided he didn’t want to know her, after all being with her could endanger his own life, and Rebekah wasn’t sure she could let that happen.

After Jacob had basically agreed with Rebekah's boyfriends about what had happened to her, she sat up. He looked at her with concern, still not believing what she had to go through. Jacob hated seeing girls upset, and this time he was in this new relationship with one very upset girl. But seeing her smile at him through the tears, made Jacob sigh a little, and give her a reassuring smile back. He listened to what she said. Jacob shook her head when she said that she was sorry if she brought the evening down. He let her continue talking, but put a hand to her cheek, reassuring her more.
But then she said that there was a little more. Jacob wondered what else there was to the story. It seemed that that was the end, but according to Rebekah, there was more. He moved his hand from her cheek to her own had, and looked at her. "Go on." Jacob wasn't sure what would be said, so sat and took in whatever was to come. He watched Rebekah as she spoke, and Jacob could feel his face changing everytime she spoke about what happened next to her. Jacob could feel a frown across his forehead, and was feeling anger inside him that he had never felt at all. Just hearing that someone was attacking her physically was making him angry and sick at the same time. Jacob was glad that he had never run into anyone like that, but why Rebekah? Sure she had killed his friends, but really she was defending herself. Who were these bastards?
Then hearing about how her adopted brother was able to help, what with her almost dying was intriguing him more also. But he let her continue to talk. Once she was done, Jacob looked at her, not knowing what to say. Really, every one of them was in danger in one way or another. But maybe she was in much more danger now that this lunatic was after her. When she snuggled back into him, Jacob wrapped his arms around her. "I think that all of us are in danger, what with what we can all do." He moved slightly to look at her, "I think that you are more safe that you give yourself credit for. You have me now to protect you." He put a hand on her cheek again, and then kissed her softly on the lips.
When he pulled away, he gave her a small smile. "And you haven't brought the evening down like you said just before. I am glad that you could trust me enough to tell me." Jacob looked at her for a brief second, before he kissed her softly again. He slowly moved apart from her, and gave her a bigger smile. "So. Are you up for dinner?"

{ooc - I think this one might be finishing soon too - even if it's a short thread, the point of the thread has been done - and really they had 2 in quick succession}
After Rebekah had apologised for bringing the evening down Jacob shook his head and she continued to talk but she had to sigh gently when she felt his hand on her face. It was so reassuring and made her believe that if this kind young man could see the good in her that maybe what she had done wasn’t such a bad thing after all. She could never believe it from James or Luke because they were both a bit, well rough around the edges. Jacob was different, and getting his approval meant the world to Rebekah.
She had then continued with her story telling him how Ryan had saved her life with his ability by giving her new lungs, she watched the features on Jacob’s face change so many times while she was talking to him that by the end of it all she didn’t really know what he was feeling but she knew she would find out soon enough. After she had finally finished relaying her story to him she had snuggled into him and she soon felt his arms go around her which felt really nice. When he spoke he was saying he felt they were all in danger with what they could do. Well he had a point there, because her adoptive mother Angela ran that undercover company to bring in the dangerous people like them. She nodded her head agreeing with him, “I guess you are right.” Jacob then moved and spoke to her again saying that she was safer than she gave herself credit for because she had him to protect her now.
“So, you aren’t going anywhere then?” She asked with hope in her eyes, as they began to fill up with tears again, she thought she might lose him tonight after she had told him everything, but it seemed he wanted to protect her and she wasn’t about to argue with that. No sooner had she asked the question than she felt his lips on her own and gave her a gentle kiss and then that hand to her cheek again. She nuzzled into the hand slightly enjoying the feel of it on her skin once more. When he pulled away he gave her a small smile and she smiled back at him and then he told her she hadn’t brought the evening down and he was glad she could trust him enough to tell him.
She swallowed, and wiped away the tears which had begun to fall again earlier, “I had to tell you, I trust you with my life.” The words were sincere and she meant every single one of them. Ryan and Jacob should meet she suddenly thought, they would get on great together especially when Ryan knew how much Jacob wanted to protect her. “And I’m glad I didn’t bring the evening down.” Jacob then looked at her for a short time before softly kissing her again which she returned just as softly. When he moved apart from her this time he smiled at her brightly and asked if she was ready for dinner.
She grinned at him, feeling much better than she had when she first arrived, now that everything was out in the open and he seemed fine with it all. He knew pretty much everything there was to know about her now. “I am more than up for dinner, I am starving and it smells so good.” She knew she had been on to a good thing when she met Jacob that night, but tonight just confirmed that thought.

{ooc - no worries Mands. And yes the point got across, and that is all that matters! } Jacob had told her that she was safer than she gave herself credit for, because he was there to protect her. Her question made him smile a little at her. "No. Not going anywhere." He then kissed her gently, placing a hand on her cheek. Jacob felt her moving into his touch, which hadn't gone unnoticed, as he caressed it a little with his thumb. After he pulled apart, and stated that she hadn't brought the night down and that he was glad that she could trust with telling him, Jacob watched her wipe the tears away, and she commented. Just hearing that she trusted him with her life made him smile warmly at her. Again Jacob gave her a smile, when she said that she was glad she hadn't bought the night down, and Jacob then lent in for a kiss. Once he moved apart from Rebekah, Jacob asked if she was ready for dinner. Seeing that grin made him know her answer, and it seemed to him that she was glad to talk to him about all that had happened to her. Jacob still couldn't believe all the things she had done, but it had all been done for a reason. A reason he hoped would never come up again for her. But if this Xavier guy was never going to give up, then Jacob had to make sure that he was there for her, always. Jacob chuckled a bit, when Rebekah said that she was more than up for dinner. "Great. Well let's go and eat then." Jacob got up off the lounge, and reached out for Rebekah to grab a hold of his hand. He then led them both towards the kitchen, where he would dish up their meals.

{ooc - glad you agree, so this one could end it?}
Jacob replied to Rebekah saying that he wasn’t going anywhere which made her feel so good and she gave him a warm smile then. She knew she had to be honest with him, but if she’d lost him she didn’t know what she would do. For the first time since Angela adopted her Rebekah felt like she truly belonged somewhere and that was in Jacob’s arms. When he had kissed her she had nuzzled into his hand slightly which he had put on her face and she soon felt his thumb caress her cheek which made her feel even better.
Jacob had then confirmed that she hadn’t brought the night down which she had replied saying she was glad and then he kissed her again. When he pulled away this time he asked if she was ready for something to eat. She had grinned and said she was more than ready as she was starving. She heard Jacob chuckle which made Rebekah laugh along with him a little and then he stated that they were to go and eat then. “That’s a great idea.” She replied and then Jacob got up off the sofa and held his hand out for Rebekah to take. She took his hand and once she was on her feet she followed him through to the kitchen.
{ooc - it's uber short, the smallest post I've written in such a long time - but really nothing much else could be said.}
