"It... burns..." Alex's pupils were wide, then small so very small. They were dilating so quickly, big then small. It hurt so much. The pain in her head, the burning sensation running through her blood towards her heart. What was happening? Alex could feel pain, but nothing like this. She was gasping for breath as her body slumped to the floor. Then the biggest pain of all was hearing her love, her soul mate telling her to 'let me go'. She'd rather die, she'd rather feel this burning pain for the rest of her life than see him die. Alex without Liam, was like bees without honey, Wolverine without his claws, Superman without Lois Lane. It was impossible.
Suddenly the burning stopped, her blood was boiling. Alex leapt up and sprinted at what seemed like a hundred miles per hour to where Liam and the other vampire stood. She struck the wooden stake through his heart, spluttering vampire blood all over her and Liam. As soon as her fingers unwrapped themselves from the wood, Alex fell to the floor and began fitting violently. Her eyes rolled back into her head, foam began emerging from her mouth and her heartbeat eventually slowed down and down until it was nearly dead. Everything fell silent. There were quiet mumurs around the room and the small gasps from Alex.
Her face had lost all it's colour, she was now a pale, almost empty shell. 'Wake up Alexandra... Wake up.' That voice, that sweet, angelic voice. She opened her eyes and saw her standing there. 'Mom? But... you're...' Her mother smiled, her soft pink lips glistening in the light. She had a strange aurora around her, a light so beautiful, Alex couldn't help but tilt her head. 'Yes baby girl, I am. So are you right now..' Alex looked down, seeing herself cradled in Liam's arms. Oh Liam... handsome, amazing, wonderful Liam. 'Oh God...' Again her mother smiled, reaching out to touch her daughter's face. 'It's okay. You're not going to be here for long.' Alex turned back to her mother, frowning slightly. 'But I'm dead...' Her mother nodded. Then the light was suddenly brighter. Alex saw the wings, the wings of an angel. 'It's not your time yet baby girl, I've been told you need another chance. In fact, I've seen you in the future.' Alex's eyes widened, her whole face was in shock, her whole... 'body'. 'You and Liam, were meant to be. It's too soon to seperate you, too soon to say goodbye. So, go... go back to him.' Alex finally felt her mother's touch, so warm, so soft. 'I'll see you again my darling. Tell your father I'm keeping an eye on him... and I love him, and miss him so much.' Alex nodded and held her hand up, waving it slightly. 'Love you mom.'
The taste of iron filled her mouth, yet it wasn't harsh. It was a subtle kind of beautiful taste. Alex's heart was still not beating, but she could feel herself awakening. The wonderful voice of her soul mate lifted through her ears and she couldn't help but twinge a smile ever so slightly. "You won't have too..." She managed to croak out, her eyes looked up past his chin to see his face. That wonderful face that sent shivers down her spine. She suddenly felt the vampire blood kick in, and her heart started beating faster and faster. "Hi." She whispered, smiling up at him with tears in her eyes. "I love you."
