Saturday, 31st October, 2009 It was Halloween, and Emerald was having a party at her apartment, naturally she had invited Liam who had in turn invited Alex as he felt it would be a good way for the both of them to meet each other properly. Of course when he mentioned to Emerald about inviting Alex, she had told him it was up to him, but she would be inviting a lot of her vampire friends, in fact, Alex would be the only human in the house. Liam had just shrugged his shoulders, saying Alex didn’t seem to have a problem with him, so why would she have a problem with some of her friends. Liam and Emerald didn’t feed on humans, they drank animal blood, but some of Emerald’s friends were still finding it difficult with the transition from human to animal and sometimes got the hunger to feed. She had told Liam this, but because he knew of Alex’s remarkable ability which meant she stayed young also like himself, he knew that no vampire would be able to attack her anyway. He just hadn’t gotten around to telling Emerald that part, yet. Liam wasn’t sure what to dress up as. He had seen many a Halloween and had to laugh at the amount of kids who were dressed up as vampires, well, he didn’t have to dress up to be one of those, he was one. A werewolf had went through his mind, but he figured that was just stupid, seeing how there was this whole thing about wolves and vampires not getting on, although Liam could just about stomach them if need be. No, he wanted something more original. Then he thought of one of his favourite musicals and decided to go as the Phantom from Phantom of the Opera, so that was the outfit he had finally chosen. With cloak and Phantom mask on, he made his way to Alex’s apartment to collect her, they all lived fairly close to each other, not that it would have mattered anyway as Liam had excessive speed and could more or less fly. He was at Alex’s apartment door within about two minutes, he had no idea what she was dressing up as, because neither of them had spoken to the other about it, wanting to keep it as a surprise, although he couldn’t help but think it would have been awesome if she had happened to dress as Christine from Phantom of the Opera as well. Just thinking about her wearing clothes from that era he sighed, because she was already insanely beautiful, she would just look even more so in that kind of attire. So, not wanting to waste another moment, he knocked on her door and then shouted through her letterbox, “Alex, I am here whenever you are ready, unless you would like me to come in?” Liam had finally gotten over his shyness around Alex; it had taken him a couple of days, until he felt sure Alex was definitely happy with what he was. Now Liam was much happier and easier around her, but he still worried about her deep down, he still thought in many ways that it was dangerous for her to be around him, but he was so deeply attached to her, so deeply in love with her, he couldn’t be without her. Even just spending nights apart in their own apartments made him feel like there was something missing, so instead of sleeping by himself, he would often fly through her window and lean up against her bedroom wall watching her sleep. He should probably tell her he did this, he wasn’t doing it to be creepy, he just felt it was the best way of being able to make sure she was alright at night, when he couldn’t be with her. He often forgot about the amazing ability she had, that it wouldn’t matter what happened to her, she could heal from it.

Halloween. Children buzzing the apartments every two minutes, teenage girls dressed in what they thought was sexy, was actually slutty, and adults in large groups, drunk and stupid. Alex looked out of her window over the street and park. She sighed and closed the large curtains over. For a moment she thought about her father, who was probably working right now. Alex's father Robert was a firefighter. Despite him having cyrokinesis, she still worried about him. He was a cautious son of a gun anyway, but he didn't have a partner, nor did he ever seem to go out and socialise. He was always at the fire station or in his crummy little apartment. He needed someone... he needed a life.
Alex can barely remember anything before Liam. For the split second she stopped thinking about him then, he came back into her head almost immediately. He was a drug, she was his addict. Everything about him was perfection; his face, his eyes, his hair, his body, his ability, his voice, his look, his style, his personality and even the way he smelled. She loved him. She loved him from the first minute she set eyes on him. Despite Liam telling her about being a vegetarian vampire, she had heard of vampires down in the Southern states feeding on their human lovers during love making. Alex had also read that vampires loved the taste of human blood during love making, and some of humans actually found it nice to be bitten. It didn't matter to her anyway, Liam could bite her all he wanted, she would just produce more blood anyway. Who knows, she may even like it.
After thinking about that certain situation, Alex stood up and made her way to the hallway. She stood in front of the mirror, checking her pale complexion and fake blood stained face. She had decided to dress up as a Victorian vampire; she had a white blouse on with a tight black leather corset over the top of it sucking her stomach in, a pair of pinstripe black bootleg trousers with a leather belt and a pair of highway man boots she already had. To make her look more... 'vampire' Alex powdered herself with white make up and outlined her eyes with black eyeliner, smudging it slightly, she also created two fang holes in her neck with fake blood dripping down, they looked surprisingly real and finally she had fake blood down her blouse and trousers. Her hair looked pretty awesome too, it was curled with thick ringlets and looked so wonderfully shiny. She couldn't help but smile at herself in the mirror.
It was nerve-racking, waiting for Liam. Not only was she terrified of meeting his sister (not because she was a vampire, but because she might think badly of her) but she was terrified she would offend him and Emerald too by dressing as one of them. Alex hoped they would see the funny side of it, or at least Liam would. Alex packed her little shoulder/handbag thing that matched her outfit. It had her wallet, keys, cell phone and make up in it. She waited in the lounge, sitting up straight with her hands resting on her knees. The silence was overwhelming. She didn't want to turn on the TV or stereo, she wanted to hear that voice perfectly, his voice.
As soon as her phone buzzed, she knew it was eight o clock now. And right on time, she heard the angel's voice through the letterbox. "I'll be right there!" She shouted, suddenly nervous again. Alex stood up and took a deep breath, patting her corset where her stomach was. She pulled her black velvet jacket from the sofa and folded it over one arm before walking towards the front door. She pulled open the front door and there he stood. His hair was slicked back and she could only see half of his face. Yet both of his golden eyes were clearly visible. She gasped, her mouth dropping slightly. He looked... incredible. Mind you, when did he not? "Liam... wow." She managed to get out, chuckling slightly.
Before Alex thought to say anything else she immediately rested her hand in his, feeling his familiar yet wonderful cool skin. She then leaned in and gently brushed her fake blood stained lips on his cheek. "Love you." She whispered, pulling back and smiling. Alex then grinned, showing the one little extra thing she had done. The two realistic fangs attached to her own made her look... well like a real vampire. Her mouth retreated into a smile and she and twirled in a circle, still holding his hand. "So am I one of you?"

So Liam stood outside the door to Alex’s apartment after shouting through her letterbox that he was there, unless she had wanted him to come in, however he soon heard her say that she would be right there. “I will be here waiting for you.” He replied back wondering what she had decided to dress up as. Soon the door was open and Liam could tell right away she was either shocked or blown away with what he had dressed up as. “I am going to take that wow as a good one, the whole jaw dropping thing you know?” Liam laughed a deep throaty laugh; it would seem she liked his choice of costume for the party. He bowed slightly, “I am glad that it meets with your approval madam.”
Of course what Alex was wearing and what she had dressed up as hadn’t gone unnoticed by Liam, he just wanted to wait until the right moment to say something. Before he got a chance to say anything however, he felt her take his hand and then she kissed him on the cheek before saying she loved him. “And I love you.” He replied as he gave her a warm smile, he was so glad he was now over the initial nervousness he had when he was first around her, although he was always like that with humans, it was a fear of how they would react to what he was; but when that human was a girl he had instantly fallen for it made the whole nervous thing a hundred times worse.
When Alex grinned at him, he saw the fangs and Liam had to roll his eyes, but he chuckled lightly along with it. Of all the things Alex could have dressed up as she had to be a vampire, it was actually quite funny and in a way Liam found it quite sweet that she was so comfortable with what he was and being around him, she felt that’s what she wanted to be for Halloween. Just as Liam was about to say something, Alex spoke asking if she was one of them. Liam shook his head as he smiled “You look frighteningly like one of us, I especially love what you are wearing.”
He then put a hand up to her hair tapping a couple of the ringlets with his fingers and watching them bounce, he chuckled slightly as he did so, “They are awesome Alex. I love your hair, I love the way you have dressed, I love you.” He then gave her a gentle but quick kiss on the lips, before taking a quick look to make sure nobody was watching properly and flipped her up onto his back, “Hold on tight.” Not that he needed to say that, he had done it before with her a few times since they had met. He then used his speed to more or less fly her to his sister’s apartment, even though they could have walked it easily in a matter of moments.
He then slowed down and gently eased her back onto her feet and then grinned at her, “Guess I just could not wait to introduce you to my sister any longer.” He laughed, as he took her hand, and then opened the door to Emerald’s rather lush apartment. Liam had his own rather lush apartment also, it was easy to afford luxuries when you ran your own business you made a lot of money from, the Cortez’s were rather well off, not millionaires by any stretch of the imagination but they certainly weren’t short of money that was for sure. Liam then walked Alex into the living room which was already jumping with heaps of Emerald’s friends. It didn’t take Liam long to pick out his sister, and he walked the two of them up to her. He tapped Emerald on the shoulder lightly, “Emerald, we are here.” Waiting on her to turn around he then introduced them officially.
“Alex, this is my sister Emerald, Emerald, this is Alex.” He was grinning so widely, so very proud of his love, and so very proud to be showing her off to his sister.

When Alex looked in the mirror for the final time, she couldn't help but smile ever so slightly. She looked different from her usual clumsy self. She looked... pretty. As she heard Liam reply that he would be waiting for her, she felt that knot in her stomach. The one she felt everytime he spoke. He was such a dream come true. Everything about him was perfection. It was scary that he had fallen for her, when he could have any woman he wanted. But Alex knew, not every woman would take so kindly to the fact he was a vampire. Her eyes lit up as she turned the lights off and walked out to see him standing there.
"Uh jaw dropping, yeah." She was smiling, but her voice was shocked, stunned by the utter beauty of the man standing inches away from her. His laughs made the hairs on her arms stand up. Perfection was the only word to describe him. It happened a mere minute later when he said he loved her as well. Alex was ever so slightly worried that he wasn't saying anything about her outfit because he disliked it, that's how polite he was. He wouldn't do anything to upset her in anyway or form. When she grinned, baring her fake fangs, he rolled his eyes but grinned. She had to ask if she was 'one of them', well for the night anyway. "I look like one of you? Well that was the aim, I didn't want some of your sisters friends, you know... to eat me." She giggled lightly, sighing after. It was quite scary there would be some 'bloodsuckers' there. Ones who hadn't adapted to the vegetarian or bottled blood diet as of yet.
Liam then touched Alex's ringlets ever so gently, they danced around his fingertips. "So you like it then? I was scared I would offend you." Alex raised her hand, slipping it into his as he untangled his fingers from her hair. His cool touch making her heartbeat faster. She felt his lips brush hers, again making her heartbeat faster. Liam then flipped her up onto his back, her legs wrapping around his hips and down his own legs. Within a minute they were outside his sister's apartment. He gently put Alex back on her feet, making her knees wobble a bit. The speed was still so amazing to her.
Alex looked up at Liam, his one eye showing sparkling gold as always. His grin was irresistable. "Well I've been looking forward to meeting her." Alex replied chuckling along with Liam. As he took her hand, the cold spreading through her blood momentarily, she suddenly got nerves building up inside her. The door opened and Alex looked at the interior, smiling as she saw antiques no-one other than a vampire could possibly have. Liam then walked her into the living room, where there was at least twenty odd people or so.
It took her instantly to see two men lift their heads and sniff the air. They glared at her from across the room, smirking. She gulped, shuffling closer to Liam. Luckily he didn't seem to notice, continuing to walk with her towards Emerald. Alex stared at her in awe. She was mind-numbingly beautiful. "Um... uh... hi Emerald." She managed to get out after a moment or so. "You have a great place. And you... you're amazing." She said eventually again, managing to smile afterward. Alex nervously rubbed Liam's hand with her thumb, caressing the back of his hand in doing so. The two men were still staring at her, she could see them through the gap in between people. Mind you, the whole room was staring now. The heartbeat so abundantly clear to them. The scent of Alex's blood so obvious throughout the crowd of the dead. Again... Alex gulped.

Emerald was holding a party for Halloween, and she had to admit she was surprised when Liam suggested he bring along his human friend. Not that Emerald had a problem with the human race, as she like Liam fed from animal bottled blood, but a lot of her friends were still struggling to make the transition from human to animal blood. She had told him it might be best if he came alone, but he had insisted, and so Emerald had to back down and agree. She was actually looking forward to meeting Liam’s girlfriend as he seemed besotted by her and Emerald wanted to know what she was like. Of course she had given Liam the talk about being with a human and how she would grow old and eventually die leaving him behind. So naturally she was rather taken aback when Liam explained to her about his girlfriend’s unique ability. So Emerald was able to stop worrying about any of her friends hurting Alex because she would just instantly heal from it, however, it didn’t stop her from worrying about the fact her friends might still want to give it a try and cause confusion among them when they realised she wasn’t a vampire but she was definitely different.
Her party was in full swing when she sensed that Liam had arrived and of course she smelled Alex before she even saw her or was introduced to her. Emerald was dressed like the good witch from Wizard of Oz, right down to the blonde hair, and no, it wasn’t her natural blonde brought on by being turned on, because Memphis was unable to attend this party; no, she had actually got a wig for this event. She was soon tapped on the shoulder and she turned round slowly, although she knew who it was. She smiled at Liam, and then he introduced her to Alex. Emerald looked her up and down briefly and then had to laugh out loud. She couldn’t believe that Alex had gone and dressed up like the group of people she was going to be in company with all night. Of course Emerald wasn’t sure it was the right thing for her to have done, but she wasn’t about to make a scene over it, not when she knew how much her brother adored the girl. “Alex, it is so good to meet you my darling, so good to finally put a face to the name I have heard so much about.” With that Emerald put her arms around Alex and embraced her in a hug.
Emerald noticed Alex seemed to be, actually she wasn’t sure, uncomfortable or just in awe, she then thought she best say something to hopefully make her feel more at home. “Alex, you look so realistic, like you truly belong with us. There is nothing to be afraid of.” Emerald wasn’t sure why she said that last sentence, but she figured she should do what she could to make Alex feel more welcome in her home. Alex then mentioned she had a great place and then said she was amazing. Emerald smiled brightly, “Well, thank you Alex, aren’t you just a little treasure.” Emerald exclaimed in a very welcoming voice, and sensing some of the vampires around her were sniffing the air rather obviously. Emerald turned in their direction and hissed at them, as if giving them a warning to back down. She would not allow for anything to happen to Liam’s girlfriend, whether she could heal herself or not. No blood would be spilled in her apartment caused by one of her friends. Emerald then chose that moment to introduce Alex to everybody. “Quiet everyone, I would like to introduce Alex to you all, she is my brother’s girlfriend and you are to treat her as you would any one of us, do you understand?” There was incoherent mumbling and a few nods of the head, as they all seemed to agree, but still Emerald was unsure as to how some of the vampires new to the transition would react to this.

After Liam had commented that Alex looked frighteningly like one of them, he had to chuckle when she said that was the aim and she didn’t want any of Emerald’s friends to eat her. Of course Liam knew that none of the vampires could really hurt her because of her remarkable ability, which also kept her young, something that Liam was revelling in, although even if she did grow old while he stayed the same, he would still have stayed with her because his love for Alex was so overwhelming and powerful. The love he had for her was stronger than anything he had ever felt before; sometimes it even took him by surprise. “I can assure you that they dare not even try to eat you, they will have two very strong vampires opposing to that idea.” Even though he knew Alex could heal from anything, although sometimes it was something he forgot, he still didn’t want any of them to even try to hurt her, he would sooner put a stake through their heart if they did, friend of Emerald or not.
After Liam had touched her hair, the bouncy ringlets she was wearing, Alex asked if he liked it and mentioned she was scared she may have offended him. Liam shook his head, “You could never offend me Alex, and I shall let you into a secret.” He leaned in close to her ear, “I love it, I had wondered if you might just have dressed as Christine to my Phantom, but I can see now that you look just as wonderful as you are, the clothes, just simply amazing. You are amazing!” After he had gently kissed her, he had flipped her up onto his back so he could take her to Emerald’s apartment, maybe a little over eager to introduce her to his sister but he didn’t care. He had taken her a few places like this now since they became a couple, so he knew she was used to it, but he always told her to hold on tight anyway. He loved the feeling of having her wrapped around him so closely. After he stopped and gently placed her on her feet, he kept a hold of her arms, just making sure she didn’t fall over, knowing that the speed was still something she might never get used to.
Liam smiled as Alex said she had been looking forward to meeting Emerald, Liam lifted one of his hands up to her chin, and holding it there, as his thumb caressed her cheek, “She had been looking forward to meeting you too, she wants to know who has been making her baby brother so happy.” Liam grinned as he said that, and then leaned in to kiss her again. He just couldn’t seem to get enough of Alex, she was like his drug and he was the addict, although he could sense that it was that way for Alex with him too. It was like they were both inseparable. He knew he could no longer live in his life without her, and he was sure she felt the same way about him. Soon Liam had them both inside Emerald’s apartment and right into the living room where the party was being held and he immediately introduced her to Emerald. He couldn’t help but smile as Alex spoke to Emerald, he gave her hand a gentle squeeze, as if to reassure her that everything was fine as he heard her stumble over her words ever so slightly.
He watched as Emerald embraced Alex, and spoke to her in a kind way, when she said Alex was a little treasure, he couldn’t hold back any longer, “I told you, you would like her Emerald.” Liam then could tell some of the vampires were sniffing the air a lot, and he was about to say something, but Emerald got in first which made him feel better, as they were mostly her friends after all. However, he felt he had to clarify what Emerald said, “You heard my sister, back down, or you will have me to answer to.” His voice was no longer the soft one he used with Alex, but dark, the one he used when anybody close to him was threatened in anyway. He knew Emerald would make sure no harm came to Alex, because she loved him, and that automatically made her love Alex, but they could end up being only two in a room full of vampires who might not end up giving much of a damn and try to hurt Alex anyway.

Alex smiled at Liam, "Well they couldn't do much damage anyway." She lifted her eyebrows, knowing that although the pain might affect her, she would always heal anyway. But it was always good to know Liam would protect her as best he could, not to mention Emerald his sister. Liam had already told Alex that she would be safe, no matter who was there. Emerald was a fairly old vampire, as was Liam. The older a vampire, the stronger they were. Well that was usually the case, except when it came to newborns. They were always ten times more dangerous than any vampire... except for the REALLY old ones.
Liam's cool touch made Alex's skin rise with goosebumps. It wasn't only the cold, it was the fact he was touching her. Him, the love of her life. It was like she had found her soul purpose for being, and it was him. It was always him. She smiled warmly at the thought. Meanwhile Liam entangled his finger in her hair. "See I'm really lame when it comes to Halloween, last year I dressed up as Rogue from X-Men. I just never know what to do. And seeing as I'm dating a vampire, I thought heck, why not... let's give it a go, so yeah." She took a deep breath, having said it super fast, she didn't realise it was because she was nervous. And of course she was blushing when he called her amazing. Alex wasn't a fan of compliments, she didn't find the need for them. Despite being a clumsy student, compliments never really made her feel any better about herself.
It wasn't long before Liam flipped Alex onto his back, and within a minute they were outside Emerald's apartment where the sound of music was echoing out onto the street. As she found her feet once Liam had dropped her down gently, Alex spoke about her excitement to meet Emerald. She hadn't seen her at the club nor at Liam's. But he always spoke fondly of her, and Alex could tell their sibling relationship was a good one. Again Alex blushed when Liam said Emerald wanted to meet the person who had been making her baby brother happy. She smiled up at him as he touched her face.
Once Alex was inside, she felt a rush of heat from the radiator by the door. Emerald must have turned it on for her, because the vampies wouldn't need the heat. The music became louder suddenly, and Liam tugged Alex along into the living room where the party was already in full swing. Liam tapped a woman on the shoulder. Alex recognised the outfit immediately, having been addicted to the Wizard of Oz as a small girl. And her eyes lit up when she saw the beauty that was Emerald. She was probably the most beautiful person, besides Liam, that Alex had ever seen in her life. With her soft voice and rather welcoming tone, Emerald welcomed Alex and pulled her into a hug.
It didn't go unnoticed by Alex the sniffing of the air by some of the other vampires in the room, she was nervous again, and she felt her heartbeat pick up. Which made some of the vampires who hadn't fully transitioned to animal blood step closer to her. Emerald spoke to her, saying she truly looked like one of them. "Thanks Em." Alex then took the time to compliment Emerald, she only complimented people when it was deserved, and Emerald was one of those people. Emerald then hushed everyone, and spoke over the now quiet music. She introduced Alex to them all and warned them to treat her like the rest of them or else. Alex waved at a few of them shyly, then heard them mutter together. She took a deep breath and blew it out quickly. Then Liam spoke, his voice no longer like an angel's, but like a demon's.
Alex smiled up at him. She was in awe of her boyfriend, the most perfect being walking the Earth. She tugged at his cape and pulled him down so she could whisper to him, "Is there anything I can drink? Actually you said yesterday there would be drinks in the fridge, I'll go get one." Alex let go of his hand, then disappeared back into the hallway near the front door. She took a minute to gather her breath, she wasn't scared of anyone in that room. But she was terrified of offending them. Maybe she should have dressed as Christine after all.
After managing to find a ready made cocktail selection in the kitchen, Alex retreated back to the living room, smiling at everyone as she moved past them. A large vampire bumped into her, knocking her backwards and smashing the glass against the wall. It caused her hand to start bleeding, she turned, to see every vampire in the room sniff the air. But what she saw, was Liam, he had never seen her bleed before and after once telling her her blood was always going to be pure and most desirable to him, she couldn't help but gulp.

When Liam spoke saying he told her she would like Alex, Emerald smiled warmly and turned to her brother, “Yes you did Li and stop calling me Emerald, you know I prefer Emmy, you will be teaching your friend bad manners.” She laughed deeply at the back of her throat. Turning her attention back to Alex, “I am just playing around, I don’t mind what you call me, but most people do call me Emmy.” When Emerald told Alex she truly looked like one of them she thanked her. “Oh, you’re welcome, credit where it’s due.” She couldn’t stop smiling at Alex, she simply was fascinating, Liam was right about everything he had ever said about her, she was wonderful.
Emmy then took the time to hush her friends and introduce Alex, telling them they were to treat her like one of their own. The incoherent mumblings were met with Liam adding that they heard her and they were to back down or they’d have him to answer to. For all that Liam may have been her younger brother; he was a very strong vampire. His strength and speed were the strongest out of all his vampire powers, not many of her friends would stand up to Liam very well. After Liam spoke the mumblings seemed to come to an end, although she could hear a few still seemed to be uncomfortable with having ‘one of them’ around. Emmy would have to pay close attention to those ones.
Alex then turned her attention back to Liam and so Emmy turned back to the small group of friends she had been talking to when Liam tapped her on the shoulder. Emerald wasn’t really the type to pry into people’s conversations, but when you had super hearing due to being a vampire, she couldn’t help but hear Alex ask Liam for a drink. She was about to offer to get her something when she then heard Alex say that she remembered Liam telling her there would be drinks in the fridge and she’d go get one. Emerald kept a careful ear for anything as Alex made her way into the kitchen to get a drink; she continued talking to her friends. Once Emmy sensed Alex’s presence back in the living room she felt she could begin to relax.
Well that was until she heard the sound of glass breaking which made Emerald turn round quickly in the direction she heard the noise and saw Alex against the wall with blood coming from a wound on her hand. Emerald immediately made her way in front of Alex as if to try and barricade her from her friends, just in case any of them should feel the urge to attack her. She then turned to Liam and watched him, as she knew how he might react to his lover’s blood being spilled. “Are you alright Alex?” She had to ask as she kept a close eye on Liam and her friends, still standing in front of Alex with her arms outstretched, making sure nobody would get to her.

When Alex stated that the vampires wouldn’t be able to do much damage anyway, Liam nodded his head and smiled weakly. He sometimes forgot about her ability to self heal, even though he never forgot that she would always stay young looking like himself. However it didn’t stop him from feeling fear at the idea of her getting hurt and it didn’t stop him from always wanting to protect her, no matter what. “I keep forgetting you can heal, but it does not change the fact that I do not want any harm to come to you.” His voice was soft as always, but had a slight edge to it, like it always did when he was in protection mode. He just had to hope that Emerald’s friends would behave themselves, because he had never seen Alex bleed and he really didn’t want to. He knew how desirable her blood would be to him because he was in love with her.
As Liam touched one of the cute ringlets in Alex’s hair she began to talk about being lame when it came to Halloween and how she had dressed up as Rogue from The X-Men the year before, it had all come out in a rush. Liam couldn’t do anything but laugh a little, “You need to learn to breathe when you talk, at least you can do that, unlike me.” He laughed a little more; he couldn’t help but to tease her slightly. “And for the record, I do not happen to think you are lame and I wished I had seen you as Rogue.” He gave her a bright smile then, Alex could do no wrong in Liam’s eyes, she was perfect, he loved everything about her.
Once they were both inside Emerald’s apartment, he stood smiling, proud of his Alex, while she and Emerald conversed. Emerald then teased about her name, telling him off saying he was to call her Emmy. Liam rolled his eyes slightly, “Fine, Emmy.” He knew she was teasing around though and smiled afterward. He knew Alex and his sister would get along just fine, and he was glad of it, as they were now the two most important people in the world to him. After Emerald had warned her friends to treat Alex like one of their own and he had stepped up after hearing some incoherent mumbling, most of them seemed to go back to doing what they were doing. However he was quick to notice some still not too happy about the presence of a human in their midst, so Liam knew he had to watch them closely.
Soon after he felt Alex tug at his cape and pull him down slightly, he smiled and then listened to what she was saying. She was asking about something to drink, he was going to suggest they both go into the kitchen when Alex spoke again saying she remembered what he had said and she would go and get one. “Alex w...” But she had already moved away and she wouldn’t hear him over the music. He was going to tell her to wait and he would go with her. Instead he stood where he was watching for her coming back, to make sure nobody would try to harm her when he wasn’t with her. When the glass smashed Liam turned just as quickly as Emerald did, however what he saw caused him to stand in shock. His usual amber eyes turned black. He could hear Alex’s blood pumping through her veins more clearly than he had ever cared to notice before. He watched as Emerald quickly got between Alex and the rest of the crowd with her arms outstretched just in case any of them should attack.
Liam suddenly realised that he would probably be scaring Alex, so he closed his eyes and concentrated as he counted to ten slowly into himself and then opened his eyes again, he had managed to push the urge to drink from her to the back of his mind and his protection instincts immediately kicked in again, running toward her, he quickly put an arm around her shoulders. “Alex, I am sorry I did not come to you sooner, but...” He knew he didn’t have to explain, he also knew that with her ability to self heal she would have stopped bleeding by now. Sure enough the scent of her blood was no longer as strong as it was when the wound was open. Liam then looked out across the room, “Which one of you did this?” He didn’t think they would own up, but if they did, they would no longer be welcome at this party, and he knew they would no longer be welcome in Emerald’s apartment.

Alex gently rested her hand on Liam's chest, she loved how protective he was yet she hated him worrying. She could be strapped on a bed of knives, thrown off a thousand foot building, burned alive, drown... but she'd still be able to tell the story afterwards. "Liam, you gotta stop worrying about me... I'll be fine." She looked up at him, a slight smirk on her face. Alex realised how protective Liam was, and despite it not being his fault, she couldn't help but worry about him. She never wanted to lose him, and she never thought she would... but if something happened later that night with the other vampires, he would automatically blame himself. A massive lump suddenly appeared in her throat.
It wasn't unusual for Alex to get a sharp shiver down her spine whenever Liam touched her. His touch, his... everything. The strangest thing of all was he was breathless, well of course he was breathless, he didn't have a heartbeat, he didn't even need his lungs. Yet whenever she kissed him, she felt this ice cold air fill through her lungs, it was the most amazing thing ever. It was like, he was filling her insides with life. As Liam touched her ringlet she shivered again. When Liam said he would have loved to have seen her as Rogue, she couldn't help but roll her eyes slightly. "Uh no you wouldn't I looked horrid. White hair, just ugh." She motioned with her hands and shook her head. She really wasn't that imaginiative when it came to fancy dress. It annoyed her slightly actually.
When they were in Emerald's apartment, Alex couldn't help but feel nervous slightly, not to mention the look in some of the vampire's eyes when they saw her. It wasn't long before they were with Emerald, Liam's most beautiful big sister. They conversed it chit chat, yet there already seemed to be a bond between the two of them as if they were sisters in law already. Alex smiled as Emerald walked away to talk to the other guests she had been talking to when they arrived. She looked up at Liam who was smiling too. It was perfect, everything was perfect.
The lump in her throat however was still there, and Alex couldn't help but think about having a drink, she was really thirsty. She made her way to the kitchen, pulling a cocktail glass from the fridge, it was a cosmopolitan, Alex's favourite cocktail. She made her way back to the party, wondering who else she would speak to as the night progressed. However as the glass smashed, and Alex's hand started to bleed, she gulped loudly, the veins in her neck pulsing loudly to the rest of the room. Emerald was in front of her in a blink of an eye, barracading her from everyone else in the room. "Em, I'm fine, just another cut to add to the history." It had already healed, but blood still poured down her arm from the now healed wound.
Alex's eyes drifted to Liam who had his eyes shut, he was focusing on something, she didn't know what. But before she knew it, Liam was behind her, an arm around her shoulders. He went to explain, but Alex had already figured it out. He had told her how irresistable her blood was to him, and she knew she had to be careful. "Don't worry, it's fine." She said quietly. Liam then looked across the room, asking who had done it, who had harmed her. "Liam it was me, being clumsy as usual, don't worry." But the large vampire who did indeed bump into her was now towering over the three of them. His eyes were red with hunger, and his smirk was almost terrifying.
"Oh you smell good missy." Alex's eyes widened, and she could feel her heart racing more and more. Two of his friends appeared either side of him, and they too were licking their lips. What happened next was so fast, Alex had only blinked. Liam and Emerald were at separate ends of the room, when they had been with her just seconds prior. Alex shook her head, knowing this was a mistake, she should never have come. But what she felt suddenly, was the most intense pain ever as the largest vampire had his hand wrapped around her throat as he lifted her up and bit into the vein in her lower neck. She screamed.

Emmy laughed at Liam’s response when she told him off for calling her Emerald. Really she didn’t mind either way, but it was so easy to wind up Liam over it. He rolled his eyes and said fine, and Emmy just playfully poked her tongue out at him. When she was around Liam she always felt so much younger and yet, Liam had always been very mature for his age, even before they were made what they are now. After some small conversation Emmy made her way back to the friends she had been talking to before Liam and Alex arrived, not to be ignorant to her brother and his girlfriend, but because she didn’t want to be ignorant to her friends, besides they would have plenty of opportunities to talk again soon enough, if that she was certain. Of course Emmy was so busy enjoying her conversation with her close friends, the ones who had done the complete transition like her and Liam she hadn’t noticed Alex go off into the kitchen alone. Then again with protective Liam by Alex’s side why would Emmy think that Alex would go anywhere in the apartment alone?
When Emmy head the glass smash she turned and was in front of Alex and the rest of her vampire friends within a flash not wanting any harm to come to her new friend, the bond of friendship was already so strong just in those few moments, because she was her brother’s girlfriend it automatically made Alex like a sister to Emerald and she’d never let anything happen to Alex, if anything, she was probably just as protective as Liam, but maybe in a slightly different way. When Alex spoke, Emmy turned to face her with a warm smile on her face, “Are you sure my darling?” Emmy asked in a very calming voice, but she could see for herself that the wound on Alex’s arm was no longer open but healed. Emerald knew Alex could heal herself, but she didn’t care, the fact blood had been spilled could have any one of her friends who were borderline transitioned try to attack Alex and Emmy wouldn’t have it.
Emmy then snapped her fingers, “Someone bring me a clean damp cloth and some kitchen towel thank you.” Most of Emmy’s friends were in awe of her they would do anything, and she had to laugh a throaty laugh as about five of them went off to do just that. However, only one returned with the cloth and kitchen towel. “Thank you Stefano.” She gave him a smile and watched as he bowed his head slightly, in awe of her. He had to make her his mate a few times; he would have to learn that she was no longer on the market. She was going to use it to clean Alex’s arm for her, but before she got a chance one of the bigger vampires were stooping over the three of them with a couple of his friends. When he spoke Emerald’s eyes turned red, she was getting angry now. “I thought I made it clear you were to leave her alone?” However Emerald got distracted when she heard one of her friends who hadn’t made the complete transition mumbling to himself about wanting to attack. Seeing that Liam was with Alex, she made her way over to the friend, who obviously didn’t want to attack, but was upset he felt the urge to do it.
A few seconds later she heard a scream and she knew it was from Alex, she turned to her closest and trusted friend, “Watch him.” And then she virtually flew across the room to get to Alex, where the biggest vampire was holding Alex around the throat and had bitten into her neck. Emmy didn’t want to hurt Alex more than she already would be by dragging him off, so she grabbed one of her chairs and snapped it in half with her foot, making a few large splinters, she picked one of them up and drove it through the vampire’s heart from the back and within seconds he was just dust between her and Alex. “I thought Liam was with you, I thought you were safe.” Emmy said in a slight panicked voice, “I am so sorry.” Then she looked around to see if she could find Liam and saw that he had been thrown against the wall with the one of the bigger vampire’s friends ready to drive a piece of wood through Liam’s heart. “LIAM!” Emerald screamed as she quickly made her way toward her younger brother.

When Alex put her hand on Liam’s chest he smiled at the warmth it made him feel, and he automatically lifted up his hand to put over hers. When Alex spoke telling him he had to stop worrying about her and that she would be fine, he knew it was true and yet he couldn’t shake off this overprotective feeling he had toward her. He caught her looking up at him and he just smiled down at her. “I know, but...” He trailed off slightly, and sighed before continuing, “...you know I cannot help it.” It was just a natural instinct to Liam, he was in love with Alex and when you were in love you cared about them and you wanted to do everything you could to protect them even at the risk of your own life or in Liam’s case, your undead life.
When Liam said he would have loved to see Alex as Rogue he was of course being his usual sweet self when it came to Alex, but she rolled her eyes slightly, something which always made Liam chuckle lightly and he did just that, then she spoke saying that he wouldn’t and that she looked horrid, adding that white hair was just ugh. “You would have been beautiful Alex, just like you always are to me, but I guess I shall never know how you looked as Rogue.” He bent down to give her another soft kiss, it was something he found difficult not to do when he was around Alex, he always wanted to touch her, hold her, kiss her, be intimate with her, she was his whole life now. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her.
Once they were inside and the introductions were over with and Emmy had gone back to her friends, Alex spoke about needing a drink. She had gone off on her own even though he had wanted to go with her. However soon there was a smashing of a glass and when Liam turned to see the blood running down her arm, he froze in fear, knowing what it could do to him. Luckily Emmy got to Alex to help her while Liam tried to calm himself down long enough to make his own way over to Alex putting his arm around her shoulder and beginning to explain why he was sorry not to have reached her sooner. He trailed off though, knowing she would understand what he was trying to say to her. She said she was fine, but looking at her arm she wasn’t fine. Liam had then looked across at the room full of vampires demanding to know which one had done it, which one had hurt his Alex; however none of them said anything. Alex then spoke saying that it was her fault and he wasn’t to worry. Liam wasn’t convinced that was the truth however, he was certain someone had knocked into her and that someone would pay.
Emerald then snapped her fingers asking for someone to bring a clean cloth and kitchen towel, it was obvious she was going to clean up Alex’s arm but she didn’t get a chance to when the largest vampire in the room came towering over the three of them. Liam was going to say something but Emerald got in first, but as she was busy mouthing off to him, Liam saw another couple of the vampires come toward the larger one and right away Liam could sense something was going to happen and as quick as anything lunged toward one of them. Emmy was then distracted by another one of her friends and once more Alex was on her own unknown to Liam as he thought Emmy was still with her. Liam was still strong for a vampire, but because he didn’t feed on human blood he would be weaker than those vampires who still fed and it was obvious to Liam the one he had tried to fight off was one of those vampires who was still very much feeding, he was so much stronger than Liam.
He then heard Alex scream and Liam snapped his head round to see the bigger vampire with his hand round her throat biting into her neck. The anger within Liam built within seconds, and he let out a growl from the back of his throat. “NO!” He shouted and tried to break free from the vampire who was wrestling with him, but he was soon thrown against the wall by the vampire however Liam was able to catch Emmy dust the vampire who had been drinking from Alex, but that was when the other vampire saw the broken pieces of chair and soon Liam had a piece of wood aimed right at his heart. He knew what it meant, but he didn’t care, he hadn’t been able to protect Alex, he looked over at her, “You are better without me in your life, I am too dangerous, just let me go Alex.” He then closed his eyes waiting for his life to end, but he was too silly to realise that Emmy wouldn’t let it happen and even though he knew Alex could heal from anything it didn’t change the fact one of Emmy’s friends had bitten into her neck and it didn’t change the fact that Alex being around him and Emmy would always be dangerous for her, always.

As soon as the glass smashed, everyone in the room turned. Alex felt the blood drip from her upper arm, the blood ran down her blouse, staining it red. She looked up, seeing some of the vampires approach her, and some step back. Then she saw Liam, his eyes going dark all of a sudden. Within a blink of an eye, Emerald was in front of her, shielding her from any lingering vampires who wanted to bite her. In the vampire world, there were different kinds of vampires. For example, some had venemous bites, others didn't. It was strange, they were evolving as rapidly as humans, if not faster. "Yeah it's nearly healed... but there's blood still leaking."
As soon as Alex spoke, Liam was behind her within a flash, he apologised for not being there sooner in which Alex hushed him blaming herself as usual. But it was her fault, the guy just happened to bump into her, and he was a hell of a lot bigger than her so it wasn't necessarily his fault. Liam then demanded who had done it which made Alex wary of the people around her other than Liam himself and Emmy. Emerald herself was completely in control, she asked her friend to get a damp cloth and some kitchen towel, her friend returned minutes later and bowed his head to Emmy. Most of the vampires were in awe of her, she was so compassionate, so wonderful, not to mention the most beautiful woman in the room, in New York, probably in the whole World.
Before the three of them knew it, a huge vampire stood over them, running his tongue over his teeth and then his fangs appeared, the sharpened points glistening in the light of the room. Alex stayed silent, gulping loudly as he stared down at her with blood red eyes. "Don't you smell good?" Emerald warned him away, her eyes now red from anger. This was a mistake, Alex should never have come. She was the only human, well evolved human there. Surely something like this was bound to happen.
Everything that happened next happened so damn quickly, Alex barely breathed. Emerald had heard another vampire saying about attacking Alex, so she went to deal with him. Liam then lunged towards another one, leaving Alex alone, fragile and so scared, her heartbeat echoed throughout the whole room. The largest vampire approached her, licking his fangs as he picked her up by the throat. Then, the single most painful thing hit her. It was worse than falling from a skyscraper, or being hit by a car, or even burning. She screamed a piercing scream, making Emmy and Liam suddenly turn. Liam roared, but Alex could barely keep her eyes open. What was happening? Why wasn't her blood rejecting it? Spitting it back out?
Emerald then snapped a chair in half and pierced the chair leg through the vampires heart, spraying blood all over Alex. She fell to the floor, hearing Emmy just barely through the burning pain in her body. She looked over to see Liam talking to her, but it was fuzzy. She didn't realise he had a stake pointing at his heart. With all her might, she began dragging herself towards him. The pain still feeling like it was killing her inside. With all her might, Alex pushed herself up on her elbows, let out a wild scream and suddenly moved with incredible speed, grabbing another chair leg and stabbing it through the other vampire's heart. Blood sprayed in her face once more, but this time she didn't feel it. All of a sudden she fell to the floor and began fitting. Her whole body felt like it was being injected with poison. Foam began spilling out of her mouth. The entire room stared.

When Emerald had asked Alex if she was alright, she said it was nearly healed but blood was still leaking. Emmy nodded her head, “Well, the soon we get you cleaned up the better my darling.” That was when Emmy had shouted for a clean damp cloth and some kitchen towel because she was going to clean up the blood from the wound and everywhere else it had fallen so that it would hopefully dissuade the other vampires who weren’t complete with their transition to back down. However no sooner had she been brought the cloth and kitchen towel she didn’t get a chance to do anything before one of the bigger vampires were towering over all three of them. Emerald tried to warn him away but he spoke saying didn’t she smell good. Next time I have a party thought Emerald, I am going to make sure I only invite the vampires I know have transitioned fully. This was all turning out to be a bit of a nightmare. What must Alex think of her? “I told you to leave her alone.” Emmy shouted again in a very loud and commanding voice, but it didn’t seem to be doing much good.
What happened next all happened rather fast as Emerald assuming Liam was beside Alex went off to deal with a friend who felt like attacking Alex but didn’t want to. However Liam had gone to attack one of the bigger vampires who had been crowding them. Then Emmy heard that blood curdling scream escape from who could only be Alex. This made Emerald leave her friend and virtually flew to Alex’s side and in a flash had busted a chair and used the leg to drive it through the vampire’s heart who had been feeding on Alex. Emmy had then begun to apologise, stating she thought that Alex had been safe that Liam was with her, but it seemed to Emmy that Alex wasn’t responding to her very well. This put fear into Emmy. Alex was supposed to heal, Liam had told her that Alex would always stay young like he did because of her having this remarkable ability to self heal, so why wasn’t she healing from this vampire bite?
Then as Emerald realised what was happening to her brother, she was about to pick up the wooden leg of the chair and drive it through the vampire’s heart who was about to stake her beloved brother, but she didn’t get there in time. Like a bat out of hell from being virtually unable to talk to Emmy, Alex had gotten up off the floor and flew to the vampire who had Liam with what Emmy could only describe as incredible speed and staked him. But then Alex fell to the floor again like she had done only seconds before but this time she was fitting and there was foam coming from her mouth. Emmy knew the signs. She looked up at Liam with sad eyes, “Vampire venom, she was bitten by one with venom, it’s killing her Liam, whatever it is you said she can do it’s not working with this.” Emmy knowing how much Alex meant to her brother, knew what they had to do, they had to heal her with their blood. She and Liam had healing blood, not to other vampires as they could heal themselves, but they could heal other humans if they chose to do so.
“Liam, I could try, but I think the venom has gone through her body so quickly, I think only your blood will work. The blood of a soul mate. I know she isn’t like us, but I can see the love you both share, and I know she is your soul mate, you have to do it. You have to bite into her and suck out that venom.” She knew Liam wouldn’t like the idea because Alex’s blood was so potent to him, but if he didn’t Alex would surely die. “You have to do this Liam, you’ll know when to stop, I have faith in you. Once you remove the venom, feed her some of your blood.” Emmy then stood up and looked around at all the other vampires in the room, one single tear coming down from her right eye. “I asked for no trouble tonight, I asked for Alex to be treated with respect, it did not happen. I know some of you would not have harmed her, but I cannot take the risk, the party is over, please leave.” One by one all of Emerald’s friends began to vacate her luxurious apartment leaving her alone with Liam and Alex. She bent down to watch Liam carefully as he did what he would have to do to help his love. He would know when to stop, she had every faith in him.

Liam was so angry at himself, he should have checked to make sure that Emerald was still with Alex before he went to tackle one of the vampires who were ganging up on them, but vampires could move so fast, that when he saw Emmy was with Alex one second, he should have known that she might very well be elsewhere seconds later. However it was too late. He heard that ear splitting scream of Alex’s and immediately he felt bad for having left Alex’s side even for a second. He should have let Emmy deal with it all. Liam knew in that single moment he should never have brought her here to meet Emmy, they should have met at her bar where he knew it was safe. This was his fault. It didn’t matter to him that Alex could heal, he had never wanted to see one of his kind to feed on Alex. Even after Emmy dusted the vampire he could see that Alex was weak, why wasn’t she healing? He wanted to do something, but that was when one of the other vampires held the broken leg to Liam’s heart ready to kill him. He began to speak in his usual soft voice to Alex telling her to let him go. He hadn’t been able to protect her, it was dangerous for her to be around him, he was better gone. Alex didn’t respond to him because she was on the ground and she looked as if the life was draining away from her.
He then heard Emmy scream his name, he had a feeling his sister wouldn’t let anything happen to him, but looking at his love on the ground he didn’t care anymore. If she was dying, if she died, there was no reason for him to live anymore. But then it was almost as if Alex suddenly came back to life, her ability must have kicked in, but then she came toward the vampire who was going to kill him with remarkable speed; speed he had never seen Alex use before and he knew she only possessed one ability. Some of the vampire blood from being dusted must have affected her or something he couldn’t really explain it, all he knew was that his undead life was no longer in danger, his love had killed the vampire and now she was once again slumped on the floor. She was fitting and there was foam coming from her mouth, like Emmy had already worked out, Liam knew what was wrong. He figured it would be too late to do anything to save her now, too late because she had spent valuable time saving him. She should have left him, she should have let the vampire stake him. He fell to his knees with his head in his hands as tears began to fall from his eyes, he was going to lose the one precious person in his life beside his sister, he would drive a stake through his own heart, he knew he could not live without Alex in his life.
He then heard Emmy’s soft voice telling him that she was certain the venom was spread through Alex’s body so much that only his blood would work, blood of a soul mate. The fear on Liam’s face was evident as he looked at Emerald and began to shake his head. “I cannot, you know I cannot.” But then he looked down at Alex, her beautiful face, and the thought of no longer having her in his life, the thought of never being able to run his fingers through her hair again, or feel her heartbeat in the palm of his hand, he knew that he had to try. Emmy encouraged him saying she had faith in him that he would know when to stop. He could do this, he had to. He then put his mouth over the wound in her neck and began to suck out her blood, feeding on her slightly at the same time without even realising what he was doing. Then something snapped in him and he pulled away, his eyes were pure onyx and he looked at her as the tears still ran from his eyes. The venom didn’t do anything to other vampires, so Liam was fine. He then bit into his wrist and began to feed Alex some of his blood and then gently picked her up slightly so that she was being cradled in his free arm as he allowed as many drops of blood to fall into her mouth before his wound began to close up again. He then just continued to cradle her, looking down at his beautiful Alex, hoping that what he had done would be enough to save her, he couldn’t lose her.
Liam barely heard Emmy tell her friends to leave but he did notice the music stopping, and when he looked around quickly he saw that it was now only the three of them. He looked at Emerald, tears still falling from his eyes, “She cannot die Emmy, I cannot lose her, I love her with all that I am, I know I want to marry her, I want to spend the rest of eternity together with her, but...but...” His voice cracked and he looked down for a second, his eyes slowly turning back from the onyx to the amber they usually were, “...but if I lose her, I know I cannot live without her in my life.” Those were the last words he was able to say before complete grief consumed him and he began to sob silently as he clutched Alex to his chest and rocked with her back and forth in his arms.
