This isn't a rule as such but we do wish for you to respect it: Please remember to check the taken character name list so you do not use a name already in play. Thanks!!! Link ---> Taken Character Names
1. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. That is the main rule on the board. Everyone here is equal, be it an admin or member please treat other with respect, it's just that simple. If I see any disrespect on the site c-box I will give you a warning and if it continues you will be banned for three days and if it that doesn't work, then I will sadly ban you completely.
2. Signatures, avvies and mini profile background graphics are a must. Honestly, I personally can't stand someone who doesn't have any graphics. So, please find a person to portray your character (there are plenty of people out there, trust me). You can either find icons to put in the signature area {maximum of five} or make a banner set or request in the graphics section. Signature banners should be a maximum of 500 pixels in width by 200 in height. {No exceptions}
For have you read the rules (on the application): Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get!!!
3. Also, referring to the above, if someone makes you a graphic that you don't like, please be nice and thank them. If you want something different, just politely ask, maybe through a PM, if you may re-request whatever it is.
4. MAKE A MARY-SUE AND I WILL KEEEEEELL YOU! This means that you must give your character something that doesn't make them perfect. It doesn't have to be a bad personality trait, it could be something bad that's happened in their life. Just don't make a peachy happy perfect life person because nobody is perfect.
5. This is just simple, if you are not an admin on the site then don't act like one. Leave the rule-enforcing up to the people running the board, understand? It's just that simple.
6. Once you're here, PLEASE be active! I really am quite nice, despite the above threats and all. I want this board to live forever. So be active. For activity we are looking for members to post at the very least twice a week in each thread they are in. However we do realise you may get into a high volume of threads and due to work or other personal activities away from the site, two posts a week per each thread may be expecting too much. In these circumstances, one post a week per thread will be acceptable. But try not to make a habit of getting into so many that you can only make one post a week.
7. For the love of God, try not to get into heated debates with people. If you have an issue with a member, either take it up with the main admin which is Mands, or take it to PM's between each other and try to sort it on friendly terms. Nobody wants to witness inhouse arguments in the c-box. It's there for general fun chat, not to be used as a war zone.
8. We like to think this site is an intermediate role play site. This means that the very minimum word count in a post should be around 400 words long. Making the post be around a good 4 paragraphs long. Of course bigger is certainly encouraged. Please do not post a reply with five sentences. Also, if you are in the habit of quoting other people's speech into your post, please do not use that as a reason for making your post bigger in size, it's not fair, as technically that was written by the other player.
Also on the topic of the site being an intermediate role play site, the site also follows a third person writing style. This means you write for your character in third person. Now I know that some of you may not be used to it, and it may take a while to change the style, but I would ask very kindly that you do your best to try and change into the writing style of the site. However that said, I am not going to gun anybody down for writing in a different style if they're not used to third person, I just ask that you try to use third person. I for one do not know any different than third person.
9. Please no GOD modding. Godmoding can also refer to the case where a player definitively describes the outcome of their own actions against another character or object. It also refers to a description of someone's work place or home by another character, unless it's already been stated by said character.
Example:
If Tonya had the ability of pyrokinesis and had been messing around with it, causing scorch burn marks on her wall in her bedroom, the other member's character entering her bedroom for the first time would not be aware of this unless it was already clearly written in the previous post by Tonya. Joshua wouldn't write his post and describe Tonya's room mentioning scorch burn marks, if not previously written by Tonya. Only the character can describe their place of work or home. If you read a post by Tonya where it says there were burn scorch marks on her bedroom wall, then Joshua could reply mentioning the marks. Understand?!
10. Other things, like swearing and smoking, are allowed, and do not require warnings. It's not like you don't hear curse words and see smoking everywhere. However, you don't need to be obsessively swearing all the time. Because really, if you use the word 'fuck' five times in a sentence, it pretty much loses it's meaning.
11. Whether your topic is open, or if it is for someone in particular, please specify in the topic title. This way, people aren't sitting there wondering whether your topic is open or marked for someone.
12. We will only use real people as face claims. This means actors/actress, singers or models. We don't want a person to use their own face claim, that is just idiotic. So please don't use your own face? And definitely no anime characters.
13. Finally, I know everyone has different writing styles and I hate being particular about this, but I have to be as if you wish to work with me in particular I need for this to be the case. Please do not downsize your font size, keep it to the site default. Please also do not use coloured font for your character's speech. Most of us use skins and some colours do not sit well with some of the skin colouring and makes text very difficult to read. If you must enhance your character speech at all, then please bold it. Our general style does not call for blockquoting either, but if you do this, I have no problem with that.
Thank you for your attention and time in reading the rules.
