January 5, 2010 Terry breathed in deeply, taking in the cool scent of the ocean air around her. Her family had decided to go on vacation to California, and she wasn't going to refuse that, especially because it was still early January and going to California to escape the cold would be nice. She didn't mind the cold all that much, but for some reason when the plants were dying because it was cold it brought her mood down some. Besides, it seemed that ghosts were always more active when it was chilly, which was usually annoying to her because they all seemed to think that she wanted to talk to them, which she really didn't. Cerxii was usually kind and would talk to a stranger, but that's if that person were living. The dead didn't seem to consider that no one else could see them, and if Terry were to talk to them she would look like a skitzo and get hauled off to the looney bin. So, in short, man it was good the be in California!
Hearing a short yell and a small string of swear words escape teenaged lips though she opened her eyes and a half smile came over her lips. One down side though was that the twins hardly ever got along, and face it, twin teenagers of the opposite gender in an argument was never fun for anyone. Terry raised the sunglasses from her face to the top of her head as she watched the twins argue over a towel that they both wanted. Her mother and father simply tried ignoring them, having been trying to deal with the fighting for the whole flight here was enough. Terry decided to resolve the situation by waltzing forward. "C'mon guys, it's not - Holy crap, what's that?!" She began before quickly covering her face in shock and pointing behind them. They both turned and as they did she snatched the towel away and wrapped it around her shoulders glad they had fallen for her little trick. "Geez, no fair Cerxii!" "Whoa, whoa, whoa...whoa...Dude, it's Terry." She corrected with a smirk and a raised finger to her younger brother. "Now get your shizz and let's go chill on the beach! Vandy can check out California babes and Bella and I can check out hotties with bodies!"
The twins laughed at her jock and the family was soon settling on the sand. Terry had never learned to swim, she just had this incredible fear of open bodies of water or swift moving water that she couldn't explain. She would walk on the shore, but she'd only ever go knee deep in water, and that's if it was calm. They set up their towels and a large shade umbrella and they all put on a good layer of sun screen before the twins snatched up boogie boards and raced towards the ocean. "Sweetie, we're going to grab some more snacks for the beasts, be right back okay?" Her mother said, referring to the twins even though both of them together didn't eat as much as Terry. "Oh! Get me a cheese burger! And don't jip me on the fry sauce either, I love fry sauce!" She called after her mom and dad as they walked away.
Terry smiled to herself but she quickly found herself raising a palm to her forehead. She had forgotten to call her boss! They were pretty good pals and she promised she would call him and Jack to let them know she was in California and safe. She pulled out her cell phone and frowned. Her screen had been doing this wierd thing where it would black out and not show anything, and the damn phone would keep dropping her calls. Terry stood and began to wander about the beach trying to get bars on her phone. At least her cyan tank top and white skirt wrap would let her family find her easily if she were to wander to far. "Oh c'mon you stupid piece of--" Terry was about to curse her phone when she suddenly bumped into someone, the cell phone dropping from her hand and falling into the sand. She quickly grabbed it off the beach ground. "Oh, wow, I am so sorry! Just this stupid hunk of junk won't work. Again, sorry, that was totally my fault I should have been watching where I was going."

It was a Tuesday afternoon and Adam didn’t have much work going on, he had finished a web page for a company yesterday and they had been more than pleased at the outcome and today the money was in Adam’s bank account as the giro credit had been cleared from the day before. It wasn’t that he didn’t have other web pages to design, but they had given him a time scale of a few weeks because they were new business just opening up and they didn’t need something right away. So he decided to use some of his money for a day at the beach, seeing as even for January the weather was typically warm for the time of year. So he picked up his surfboard and after waxing it down he threw it into the backseat of his jeep and headed toward the beach.
Adam loved the fact that he lived near the beach, it gave him a sense of freedom and he loved being in the water, whether it was surfing the waves or mucking around with a beach ball or just simply having a good swim. He parked up the jeep and could see right away there were a few people making use of the decent weather for the day. Adam picked a spot on the beach and spread out his towel and immediately stripped down his shirt and kicked off his flip flops and made his way to the water’s edge sticking a toe in first just to test it. Even though it was warm in the air, at this time of year the water wasn’t always just as warm as it could be. It seemed to be alright and Adam was soon inside lying on the board and paddling through the water with his hands.
Soon enough a few big waves began to appear and right away Adam stood up with ease and began surfing through the waves. He loved how surfing made him feel free and sometimes it almost felt like flying if that was even possible. Once the waves began to die down he decided that there was no point in staying in the water any longer and began to head up toward where he had laid out his towel before. As he walked up the beach he saw a girl looking as if she was trying to get her mobile to work, she was doing that thing where you hold your phone up in the air and wave it about making people think you were a crazy lunatic to get a signal. It always made Adam laugh when he saw people doing that, because really if you got a signal while it was up in the air, how did you get to speak to the person, unless you had some sort of elastic ability to then stretch your neck up to where you were currently holding your phone.
As she began to moan at her phone and not exactly watching where she was going she soon bumped into Adam and dropped her phone in the process. He was going to bend down and pick it up for her, but she had beaten him to it and then she was apologising to him for bumping into him. He began to chuckle a little and held his hand up, “It’s alright, really, I just hope I didn’t get you wet from what I was just doing?” He asked her and then going back to what she had said about not getting her phone to work. The good thing about Adam having Technopathy was that he could get even the most stubborn phones to work which refused to gain a signal. “Mind if I take a look at it?” He asked picking up his towel and drying his hands and once she handed the phone over he tapped at the screen, zoning into his power and suddenly the signal was at full bars. He handed it back over to her with a smile, “How about that?” He said grinning at her as he looked at her properly for the first time and realised just how pretty she was.

Terry, after grabbing her phone from the sand and quickly apologizing, was now able to step back and get a good look at just who she had bumped into. She had to say, who she bumped into happened to be pretty attractive - ooh! and beefy! Terry loved a guy with muscles, and he had some to spare. He told her it was nthing to worry about, but he hoped he hadn't gotten her wet. She laughed and waved her hands at her sides slightly. "Oh heh not at all, if anything my clothes are covered in sand and smell of sunscreen." Terry assured that being wet was really the last of her concerns, despite her generaly lack of like towards the water.
He then asked to see her phone and she shrugged, figuring it was busted. She was planning on buying a new one anyways, one that had more memory space and things like that so she could listen to music, and also because Izzabella wanted to teach her how to text, something that Terry wasn't exactly good at because she never really learned how to do . She just never found it important at all. "Throw it in the ocean for all I care heh." Terry said with a slight smile before handing the phone over.
She watched as it seemed like he simply tapped the screen and handed it back. At first she was going to ask if he was messing with her, but when she looked and saw she had full service her face lit up. "Holy crap, you are amazing! Thanks a ton, umm-" She paused in her little happy-happy-joy-joy fit and held her phone down at her side while holding out her other hand. "I'm Terry, by the way." She said with a smile as her hand stayed outstretched, waiting for him to take it. In the moments that they had been talking, well him fixing her phone and Terry talking, she noticed that he had a surfboard with him and that he was, indeed, soaking wet. 'Don't look at his abs, don't look at his abs, don't look at his - wow, nice abs...damn!' Terry thought to herself before forcing her eyes to look to the surfboard so she could start a new conversation and avoid awkwardness. "You surf? Well I mean of course, you have a surf board, but are you, like, professional?"

When Adam said he hoped he hadn’t gotten her wet when she had bumped into him because he had been surfing he saw that she waved her hands a bit which were at her sides and spoke saying that no and that her clothes were more likely to be covered in sand and the smell of sunscreen. This made Adam chuckle lightly, “Well, I guess that’s only to be expected when you’re at the beach.” He wasn’t being smart at all, just stating a fact, like right now his feet and shins were now covered in sand because he had been in the water and had been walking up the beach when the girl had bumped into him.
Adam had then asked to have a look at her phone which was what had caused the little ‘bump’ in the first place and he had to chuckle again when she told him to throw into the ocean for all she cared. He shook his head, “That wasn’t the intention; I’m just good with technical and electrical appliances.” He said trying to give a reason for having asked to look at the phone, not wanting to give anything away about what he could do, only because he knew that not all normal humans liked people like Adam, and right now he wasn’t sure if she was special like him or not. He had then tapped at the screen as he had zoned into his power and handed the phone back with a smile with full bars for a signal.
He had to chuckle again when she exclaimed holy crap and that he was amazing and then thanked him. “You’re welcome and thank you, it’s been a while since someone said I was amazing.” He chuckled again and then just smiled at her as she seemed to be very happy to have the signal at full bars on her phone again. He found that he couldn’t take his eyes off of her, which he was finding a little unnerving because he didn’t want her thinking he was some sort of pervert or something, but he was finding her extremely attractive. There was just something innocently beautiful about her and he liked that.
She then held her hand out and told him her name introducing herself. He grinned at her and took the offered hand and shook it gently, “Well it’s very nice to meet you Terry, and you can call me Adam.” He replied and as he let go of her hand he let his thumb brush the palm of her hand slightly and then he picked up his towel again and draped it over his shoulders as he started to dry himself off a little, even though he knew the sun would dry most of it, he just didn’t like the sensation of water dripping everywhere. A small silence fell and then Terry asked if he surfed and then said that of course he did he had a surfboard but she meant was he professional.
“No, I’m not professional, I just like doing it, it makes me feel free, and I’m a web designer by profession.” He replied and smiled at her and then after finishing rubbing himself down, he slammed the board into the sand to make it stand up and then he laid the towel down on the sand and sat down with his knees hitched up. He looked up at her then and patted the space beside him, “Care to join me, company might be nice for a while.” He said, well he had planned a day at the beach; he might as well have some company while he was at it.
