Just thought I should start this thread, to take a moment to think of the lives lost in the 9/11 Disaster. My grandpa also lost his life that day, (not in the Disaster), so it has even more meaning to me.
I know it's not possible with us all being in different time zones to hold a minutes silence at the same time, but thought if you read the thread, you can just have your own little moment of silence to remember them all.
Rest In Peace.

I knew a lot of people affected by 9/11. My ex-boyfriend's best friend's dad was on one of the planes that hit the Twin Towers. He was the co-pilot of one of the planes. But I never thought in a million years terrorist would dare to think to attack the West. But I was just a freshmen and really didn't care how the world worked.
Anyways, it is going to be different this year because we had always had the lovely Mr. George W. Busch do speeches about 9/11. This year we have a new president so it will be interesting to see how he can make a speech about it. Funny thing, I'm surprised we haven't even have a national holiday for it.
Nevertheless, I think the bravest people of that day were United Flight 93. They were the ones that crashed the plane into that field in PA just outside of one of the towns my dad grew up as a kid lmao. Busch was not brave he got on Air Force One and was flying around the country like a idiot. Because all commerical airplanes were grounded from the attacks. So Busch was being escorted by military airplanes...but it was ironic because during the attacks...Busch was about to give a speech to schoolchildren and never gave a speech to them lmao.

Never did like Bush as a President, but it will be interesting to see how Obama copes with the speech, if I'm lucky enough to get to hear it. But it was a sad day for many across the world, many people lost loved ones that day and it's tragic.

To me, living in Australia, I didn't have much to do with the whole thing, but I do remember watching all the news coverage on it. I have even kept some of the paper articles and so forth on it.
For me, it was sad, but didn't affect me like it did other people. I have to agree with Mich - the passengers on United 93 were very brave. I have seen the movie, and they did all they could to stop the terrorists, but unfortunately the plane crashed. Though not into buildings.

Exactly. It's a shame that they crashed but at least it wasn't another building. Now look where we are...we still haven't killed the idiot who ordered the attacks. But funny thing is the US government knew about it and really didn't do anything to stop it. Now we have alert levels and stuff. I still hate going to the airport it used to be simple. Now you have to take off your shoes, you can't have over 3 OZs of liquid, and TSA can be assholes. Flying post 9/11 sucks.

It's only like that in the States though isn't it? The strictness of flying I mean, cuz I've flown to Crete a few times since that disaster and it wasn't the strict. But yeah it was an unnecessary tragedy, that's for sure. It was a sad, sad day for everyone across the world am sure.
