When Melody agreed with Bren about any proud father would get a shirt done with the scan photo on it he had to smile at her and then she spoke more saying that when he was getting his own shirt done that maybe he could get one done for her too and they could be a matching pair. This made Bren grin at her and then chuckled a little before replying with, “Sure sweetheart tha’ sounds like fun to me, can just see folks now lookin’ an’ pointin’ at us an’ sayin’ to themselves look how happy an’ proud they are.”
After Melody had said that she could forget the past and move on if he could too he had replied saying that of course he could and wanted to move on with the woman he had lost his heart to. He had then placed his hand on Melody’s stomach and rubbed it gently. Soon enough he felt Melody’s hand over his own and then she spoke saying she couldn’t wait to raise the baby with him, calling him Mr. Brendan Harris. He grinned at her before saying, “Well I don’ reckon I can wait to raise this one with Mrs. Melody Harris to be either.” He would always love his little Kitten but he wanted to do this from the very start for Bren he felt like it was the first time he was going to be a dad because he would be doing everything from the start with this one.
Melody had then asked what they were going to do that weekend since she had been told to rest up and Bren had ran off a couple of suggestions although two of them weren’t going to be that great, however the last suggestion he made Melody seemed to agree with and added how about starting now and then she gave him a kiss on the cheek. Bren replied saying, “Sure, tha’ sounds good to me Precious.” Melody then asked him what he fancied watching but he wasn’t too fussed so he shook his head slightly before saying, “I ain’ bothered Precious wha’ever ya wanna watch yerself will be good fer me an’ all.”
Bren then watched as Melody stood up and then saw her hand go up to her head and he immediately frowned and then she slowly turned to him saying that she shouldn’t have got up so fast and that she felt dizzy. Bren immediately stood up and nothing else was said as she he saw her collapsing and thankfully he managed to catch her before she hit the ground. He began to panic slightly wondering if it was anything to do with the baby or the condition the doctor said she might have. He placed her onto the lounge gently and then quickly went into the kitchen and got a clean facecloth dipping it into cool water and went back to her and began to dab at her forehead with the cloth gently. “Hey Precious don’ ya be doin’ this kinda thing to me. If ya don’ wake up in the next coupla minutes am takin’ ya to the emergency room.”
He didn’t want to get too panicked but at the same time he didn’t like the sound of this at all, not after what they discovered earlier. In fact he was beginning to wonder if he should just take her to the hospital now. If he did take her now he would have to shout for Libby as she was home from school now and she wasn’t old enough to be left on her own. He decided he didn’t want to take any chances. “Libby ya gonna hafta come down to the livin’ room sweetheart, gotta take Melody to the hospital.” He shouted up the stairs to his daughter as he then went to bend down and pick Melody up into his arms getting ready to take her to the hospital.

Melody half laughed at what Brendan said to her comment about him getting her a shirt like his, so that they could be a matching pair. "Well I won't be fased at the comments. I will be happy and very proud about it all." That was an understatement. She was pretty much on cloud nine over it all. Just knowing that she was carrying Brendan's child was like nothing she had felt before.
Hearing Brendan call her Mrs. Harris to be was nice, and it made her grin at him, feeling her whole face light up. She sighed a little, just wishing that she was a few months on, but really, Melody knew that she would have to take one step at a time with the pregnancy, especially with this heart murmur that was apparent. She hoped that it wasn't a serious one, though any level of it would be serious.
Once it was agreed that they could watch a movie, Melody has asked what he wanted to watch. Brendan shook his head, stating that he wasn't bothered, whatever she wanted to watch. Melody looked at Brendan, "Okay." That was when she had gotten up, feeling rather dizzy. Melody saw Brendan frown, when she had turned around, and said that she shouldn't have gotten up so fast, feeling dizzy. But that was all that was said from Melody, as she felt light headed, and collapsed.
Melody was in a lot of thought now, what with being unconscious, and not being able to speak, or really know what was going on. Her main worry was the baby, though she really didn't think it was after a while. Then the thought of the apparent heart condition came into play. That very thought made her feel rather distressed, and she began to stir, and then felt a tear slide down her cheek. Her forehead felt cool, and Melody swallowed a little, murmuring a little. She then slowly opened and closed her eyes a couple of times, and when her eyes were almost focused, Melody saw Brendan's face.
She soon realised that she was in Brendan's arms, and wondered what happened. But then Melody remembered that she had fainted or something, and placing a hand up to her face, she began to get upset. "I'm sorry. Maybe... maybe I should have told them to get the tests done this afternoon. Maybe this wouldn't have happened." Melody then thought, maybe it would have happened, but she would have at least been in a hospital. She looked at him again, "I guess we are going back to the hospital." Melody moved her arms probably around Brendan's neck, allowing him to carry her, as she knew she would be too weak.

When Melody said that she wouldn’t be fazed by the comments and be happy and proud Bren gave her a deep smile as he knew that he would feel the exact same way. He was going to love every single moment of this pregnancy with Melody and despite the awful moodswing he had witnessed with Stacey that time he knew that he was still more than ready to take the good with the bad during this pregnancy. “It’s gonna be great sweetheart.” Bren said as he leant in to kiss Melody softly on the lips briefly. Then when Bren had called her Mrs. Harris to be he saw that grin of hers and he loved the way it just lit up her whole face. He was so happy that they were back to normal again, he had hated the moment between them before.
They had then agreed to watch a movie together and Melody had asked Bren what he wanted to watch and he had replied saying anything she wanted to watch. Melody had replied to him saying okay and then she had stood up. No sooner had she done that though she had turned to him saying she shouldn’t have gotten up so fast. Bren had stood up at that point and it was just as well as Melody had then collapsed and thankfully Bren had caught her and placed her on the sofa. He had then gone to get a cloth dapping at her face and had spoken to her saying that he was going to take her to the hospital if she didn’t waken in a couple of minutes.
Then Bren decided he wasn’t going to wait and had shouted for Libby as she would have to come with them to the hospital and picked Melody up into his arms getting ready to take her out to the car when Libby had entered the lounge. While he was waiting on Libby he kept looking down at Melody and could see that she was starting to drift in and out of consciousness. He then watched as Melody put a hand up to her face and then began to try and talk apologising and saying she should have gotten the tests done that afternoon. Bren shook his head, “Hush Melody its alrigh’ an’ damn righ’ we’re goin’ to the hospital.” Bren then felt Melody wrap her arms around his neck and he shifted her slightly in his arms again.
Libby was now in the lounge. “Is mommy okay?” Libby asked and Bren gave her a weak smile, “Well tha’s why we’re goin’ to the hospital Kitten, let’s hope so.” He then headed out of the house and turned to see Libby following him. “Libby go in the front sweetheart, gonna lay Melody down in the back.” Once he reached the jeep he placed Melody on her feet slowly but keeping his arm firmly wrapped around her and flipped the button to shut off the alarm and open the doors and then he gently lifted Melody again and placed her onto the backseat. He then closed the door and ran toward the house locking it and soon enough he was back in the driver’s side and began to head them toward the hospital.
Five minutes later because Bren was driving faster than he realised he had them at the ER of the hospital and he soon got to the back and helped Melody out onto her feet once again keeping his arm wrapped around her, and locked the car after Libby got out and then lifted Melody up into his arms once more and soon the three of them were inside the ER and Bren went right up to the reception. “Can ya help us please? Ma fiancée’s pregnant an’ earlier we were told she migh’ have a heart murmur an’ earlier she collapsed, jus’ wanna get her checked out ya know?” Bren said as he gave the receptionist a weak smile and waited to see what he would be told.

When Melody had finally woken enough to talk, apologising to Brendan, he tried to hush her down, and said that they were going to the hospital. She felt useless, and hated feeling that way, what with normally being a strong person. Feeling weak was not a good thing for her, and Melody hoped that she would feel better. Whatever caused this, Melody wanted to get to the bottom of it, as she knew that she didn't want to be like this for the entire pregnancy. What would it do to her?
Melody glanced at Libby, when she came in and asked if she was okay. All she could do was just lay in Brendan's arms, letting him do any talking right now. Melody wanted to keep herself from doing anything that would stop her from regaining her strength. She wanted to be okay, and just concentrate on the pregnancy. Brendan soon had her outside, with Libby. He carefully placed her on her feet to stand while he unlocked the car. Melody kept her arm around him, trying to will everything to stop spinning. She took a few deep breaths, trying to bring herself back to normal somehow. Once Brendan helped her into the back seat, Melody continued to take slow breaths, trying to keep herself calm till they found out what was happening.
Within a few minutes they were at the emergency section of the hospital. Melody could tel that Brendan had been going faster than normal, but she understood why he had done that. Once Brendan helped her out of the car, she was once again in his arms, and Melody snuggled into him, wrapping her arms around him. She didn't feel as light headed or dizzy now, but still she knew it was best to get checked out. If she said now that she was feeling okay, Melody had a feeling that Brendan would not turn back, he would still continue to take her to get her checked.
When they reached the reception area, Brendan stated what had happened to her, and what her conditions were. The woman behind the desk nodded. "We are not that busy right now, so a doctor should be with you in a few minutes." She picked up a clipboard, handing it to Brendan with a pen. As his hands were obviously full, Melody reached over and took them off of her, giving her a weak smile. "If you can fill this out, and I will show you to a spare cubicle."
Melody nodded a little, but that didn't do her head any good. So she rested her head on Brendan's shoulder as they followed the woman to a spare bed. She then thought she had better mention something to the receptionist. "We um actually dealt with a doctor by the name of Natalie Glover earlier." The receptionist smiled, "Oh yes, she is lovely isn't she? I think she is still here, if you want me to call her down?" Melody smiled a little, "That would be great. Thanks." The receptionist pointed out a bed, "You can rest up on there, and I will page Dr. Glover."
Once Melody was on the bed, she gave Libby a smile, "You okay sweetheart? I hope I didn't scare you too much?" She then looked at Brendan, taking his hand, keeping her voice low. "I hope everything is okay."

Brendan was really worried about Melody after she had collapsed although knowing what the doctor had said earlier was sort of good in a way because at least the both of them had a fair idea what it might be, or it was just simply something to do with the pregnancy. If this sort of thing had happened without Bren having any sort of idea what could be wrong with her he wouldn’t be as calm as he was just now. He soon had both Melody and Libby in the jeep and heading toward the hospital and it hadn’t taken him long to get there what with the fact he had been driving slightly faster than he normally would have. When Bren had helped Melody out and then lifted her up into his arms he soon felt her snuggle into him and wrapped her arms around him. He looked down at her in his arms and gave her a weak smile.
Bren had gone to the reception desk and told them why they were there and the woman behind the desk soon spoke to him saying that they weren’t that busy and that a doctor should be with them in a few minutes. Bren gave the woman a smile, “Tha’s real good, thanks.” Then the woman tried to hand him over a clipboard and a pen with a form that needed filling out. Bren rolled his eyes slightly wondering how he was supposed to take that from her with having Melody in his arms. However he saw Melody taking it from the woman and then she asked for them to fill it out and she would show them to a spare cubicle. “Thanks.” He then looked down at Melody in his arms, “Thanks fer takin’ tha’, don’ ya be doin’ anythin’ with it mind, I’ll fill it out once I get ya settled down onto a bed.” He winked at her and then he followed the woman to the cubicle.
As he walked with Melody he felt her rest her head on his shoulder and he instinctively bent his head down to kiss her gently on the top of hers. He soon heard Melody tell the woman the name of the doctor they had spoken to earlier that day. The receptionist then said that Doctor Glover was still there and did Melody want her to get her down. Melody agreed to this thanking her and then the receptionist pointed out a bed telling Melody to rest up on it while she paged Doctor Glover. Bren gave the receptionist a smile and said, “Tha’s great thanks.” He then placed Melody onto the bed gently and then lifted up the clipboard and pen she had been holding for him and he sat down on the chair next to the bed with his leg crossed and the clipboard on top of his lap and began to fill the form out with all the required details. Libby sat down on the other chair next to the bed just looking around the room aimlessly hoping that her mommy was going to be okay.
Melody then spoke to Libby asking if she was alright and hoped she hadn’t scared her too much. Libby shook her head a little, and gave Melody a weak smile, “Am okay yeah an’ ya didn’ scare me too much, but I don’ wanna lose ya, couldn’ deal with losin’ another mommy.” Libby said and Bren side glanced to her and put his arm around her, “Hey, hey, it’s alrigh’ Kitten, Melody ain’ goin’ anywhere fer a long time ya hear?” He then went back to finish the rest of the form just in time for Melody to take his hand and say in a low voice that she hoped everything was okay. Bren looked at her with some concern on his face, “Yeah, ya ain’ the only one. Hopefully it ain’ nothin’ serious, migh’ jus’ hafta get ya to rest up even more.” He then handed the form that was now complete to the receptionist and waited for Dr. Glover to arrive and hopefully tell them what the deal was.

Brendan had thanked the woman behind the desk, and after Melody had taken the clipboard with the form to fill out, he thanked her for taking it, but don't be doing anything with it. Melody nodded, "Don't worry. I wasn't going to touch it." They followed the woman to a cubicle, and when Melody had rested her head on Brendan's shoulder, she felt him kiss her head gently. She closed her eyes for a second, just hoping that everything would be okay.
Melody had mentioned Doctor Glover that they had dealt with that afternoon, and the woman acknowledged this. She thanked her, and the woman then pointed out a bed for Melody, and went to page Doctor Glover. Brendan had gently placed Melody on the bed, and took the clipboard off of her to start filling out the form. Melody turned to look at Libby, asking if she was alright, and hoped she hadn't scared her too much. She watched as Libby shook her head, giving a small smile back. Melody wasn't really convinced at the first part of what Libby was saying. She knew that if she had been Libby, she might have acted tough, but if her mother had asked her the same thing she would have broken down and cried, well for a short time at least. Melody was never one to blubber for long.
Melody sighed, and then swallowed at what Libby said last, and watched as Brendan comforted her, trying to reassure her. She gave Libby a small smile, hoping that that was a fact. It was kind of worrying her a little, which she knew wasn't going to do her any good at all. Melody had seen that Brendan had finished off the form, and that was the time that she had taken his hand, and said in a low voice, hoping that everything was okay. Seeing the concern on Brendan's face as he spoke made her nod and just continue to think about what could have caused her to faint.
Melody then took her hand from Brendan's as he handed the form back to the receptionist, and laid there trying to keep herself calm. As she closed her eyes for a second, she heard a voice. "Melody? It's Doctor Glover." She opened her eyes, and gave Natalie a small smile. "Hey." Natalie made her way on the other side of the bed, and nodded at Brendan. "So what's been up since I last saw you?" She looked at Melody seriously, not trying to make any sort of jokes which Melody was kind of glad for. "Everything was okay, but I stood up at home and fainted. Brendan then took me straight here. We had only been home for what, maybe half an hour. So not sure what might have caused it."
Natalie nodded, "Well let's gets some tests done, will start off with taking blood first, and see what comes up with those. While we wait for those results, which won't take long as I will hurry them along, I will take an ultrasound of your heart to see what more I can see, okay?" Melody nodded, watching Natalie leave them for a moment. She took a deep breath, letting it out, and turned to Brendan, giving him a small smile, and took his hand in her own. Natalie was soon back, and began to draw blood from Melody. In the end two viles of blood were taken, and Melody watched as she wrote down something on a piece of paper, bagging that and the blood together. Natalie headed out again, and handed the blood to one of the nurses, telling them to run it up to the lab to get tested for what she had requested, and it was urgent.
Natalie came back, and pushed over the machine which would see what was going on with Melody's heart. Before that was started, Melody eyed off Libby, and then looked at Brendan, "Will she be okay here, or should she step out? I don't care either way, just thinking of Lib that's all." Once the decision was made, Melody sat up to take off her top, and then laid back down. Natalie squirted the gel onto Melody's chest area, which made Melody squirm a little as the coolness of it. Then Natalie started to move the paddle over to see what she could see. She tried to keep calm as she could hear her own heartbeat on the machine. It seemed to be a little fast, but that might be just her.
After a few minutes, Natalie removed the paddle, and handed Melody a piece of paper to wipe the gel away. She turned off the machine, and turned to Melody and Brendan. "It doesn't seem to be that bad, the heart murmur. I think it is just a slight one that is quite managable. Your heart rate is slightly elevated, but that could be due to the pregnancy. I would like to keep you over night, just to keep a monitor on your heart. As soon as I get the bloodwork back, we can see what we need to do." Melody nodded, knowing that she should have just gone in that afternoon, instead of waiting till Monday.

After Melody had taken the clipboard Bren had thanked her but told her not to do anything with it, he was sort of half teasing but serious at the same time. Melody replied saying that he wasn’t to worry as she hadn’t planned to touch it. This just made Bren look down at her and smile weakly knowing that he probably didn’t have to say what he said but he only said it out love and concern for Melody. He really hoped there wouldn’t be anything too seriously wrong and that Melody would be able to carry this baby to full term. However he also knew that if it came to Melody or the baby he would choose Melody each time. Yes it would be wonderful to have a baby with her, but if it meant jeopardising Melody’s life he wasn’t about to let that happen, he was blessed already with Libby and became blessed again with Melody, he wasn’t about to risk losing her for a baby with her.
Once Melody was put onto the bed Bren had started to fill in the form and then there was a brief conversation where Melody had asked Libby if she was alright and she had replied saying she was fine but didn’t want to lose Melody. Bren had then done his best to comfort Libby and to reassure her hoping what he said to her would be the truth. He could tell from the look on Melody’s face as she watched him with Libby that she was thinking the same thing. Bren had then finished the form and gave it back to the receptionist.
Soon enough Dr. Glover was in the room and talking to Melody. Bren just sat there and listened to what was being said and if he felt he needed to say anything at any point then he would. When Melody said that they had only been at home for a half hour questioning it, Bren nodded his head, “Yeah, I’d say tha’ was abou’ righ’, a half hour, am real worried abou’ her doctor.” He had already been worried enough about her earlier, this now was just adding to that worry. Dr. Glover then spoke to Melody some more mentioning about getting some tests done. She spoke of taking some blood and then giving Melody an ultrasound to listen to her heart. The doctor then left them for a moment and Bren felt Melody take his hand and gave him a weak smile which he returned and then sighed a little, only because he was damn scared for Melody.
Dr. Glover was soon back and began to take the blood from Melody filling up two vials and then was soon leaving the room again to hand the blood over to get tested. Then Natalie was back in the room again and pushing over the machine which would do the ultrasound to check Melody’s heart. He saw her glance at Libby and then she spoke asking if she would be okay in here or should she step out adding that didn’t care either way but was just thinking about Libby. Bren gave Melody a weak smile and was about to answer when Libby spoke up. “Am righ’ here ya know an’ I ain’ goin’ nowhere, I ain’ a young kid an’ I don’ wanna be out there while yer gettin’...” She trailed off as a lump formed in her throat; she was just so scared that something was going to happen to Melody. Bren put his arm around Libby then, “its alrigh’ Kitten ya don’ hafta fret, ya can stay if ya wanna, Melody was jus’ thinkin’ it migh’ be kinda scary fer ya to be here tha’s all.” Libby then looked up at Melody with her eyes watering, “Am sorry mom, I didn’ mean to snap I wanna be here fer ya like dad, tha’s all.” Bren squeezed Libby’s shoulders with the arm that was around her and then sort of shrugged at Melody.
Soon enough Melody had taken her top off and Natalie had squirted the gel over Melody’s chest area and soon began to listen to Melody’s heart. Bren then waited to see what Natalie would say about what she was hearing and possibly seeing. Soon enough she had turned off the machine and given Melody a piece of paper to wipe away the gel. She then spoke saying that it didn’t seem to be that bad with regards to the heart murmur saying that it was just a slight one and quite manageable. She did mention about her heart rate being slightly elevated but said it could be due to the pregnancy. Then Natalie said that she would like to keep Melody in overnight to monitor her heart. Bren nodded his head, “I guess tha’ makes sense.” Bren said and sighed and then asked Natalie “There ain’ no danger with Melody carryin’ this baby with this heart murmur? I know I asked earlier, but I really don’ wan’ Melody to be puttin’ herself through danger fer this baby ya know?” Bren swallowed and then looked from Libby to Melody and then to Natalie, “Wha’ I mean is, I’d rather have ma girl safe an’ sound than have her riskin’ her life to carry ma baby.” Having a baby with Melody would be the most wonderful thing ever, but he had to think about Melody’s life here in this and that’s what made him say that and ask those questions.

After Natalie had come back from taking the blood off to get tested, she had pushed over the machine to check Melody's heart. Melody had glanced over at Libby, asking Brendan if she would be okay in her, or should she step out, adding that she didn't care either way. She returned Brendan's smile with a little one of her own. Though then she heard Libby speaking out about it all, which kind of took Melody by surprise. She kept her eyes on Libby as she spoke, and when Libby trailed off, Melody wished she could go over there and just wrap her in her arms and tell her it was going to be okay. Though Melody had no idea if it was going to be alright till the tests were done. Melody watched as Brendan comforted Libby, and listened to what he said to her. Hearing what he was saying made Melody nod in their direction, knowing that some things like this might scare someone as young as Libby. But she also knew that Libby was wise beyond her years as well. Melody had to keep her emotions at bay as she looked at Libby, seeing her eyes all moist from tears sitting in her eyes. She slowly shook her head, "Lib, it's okay. I was only thinking of you. But I am okay for you to stay." She gave Libby a small smile, hoping it would calm her down a little, and gave Brendan a small smile back, after he shrugged at her. As Natalie told them what she thought, after looking at Melody's heart, she had said that she would like to keep Melody in overnight to monitor her heart. Brendan said that he guessed that made sense, which led to Melody nod again. Melody put the piece of paper down that she had used, and placed her shirt back on. As she laid back down on the bed again, Brendan started to ask Natalie a question, in regards to any danger with Melody carrying this baby. Melody looked at Brendan, wondering what he was getting at. But then he quickly confirmed what he meant, and she took his hand in her own, giving it a gentle squeeze. Melody looked at Brendan, "I am sure it will be okay." She then turned to look at Natalie, who looked at both of them. "At this point in time, without getting any of the blood work results back, I would say that Melody will be okay. Though she will have to see me more often than normal, just to keep check on her blood pressure, and make sure that everything runs as smoothly as possible." Natalie brought up a chair to sit on, to talk more with them both. "Normally when pregnant, you do get a slight heart murmur. This is due to extra blood flowing through your heart. So if nothing has been picked up before, this could be one meaning behind it. But as I said, I would like to keep Melody in over night, just to make sure. However, a new murmur can mean that there's a problem with a heart valve, though I can look at this further. Though I couldn't see anything like that during that scan I just took." Melody tried to take in what Natalie said, and nodded a little. "If it is due to the pregnancy, I guess there will be things that I will need to do, besides having appointments a lot more." Natalie nodded, "I would suggest taking it easy, and not doing a lot. I suppose with the type of job you do, maybe just sticking with the basics, and not doing a lot of stressful things. I would suggest talking to your boss about that all. I am sure that they will be understanding." Melody nodded, wondering what she would be able to do at work, if she couldn't do everything. Then she remembered that she was suppose to read the news tonight. "Oh Bren. Could you ring work for me, and tell them the situation. I forgot. Well really, there wasn't time." She gave him a weak smile. Natalie stood up, as a nurse came in. She spoke to them, and then turned back to Melody. "We have a room for you right now. So I will let you get settled up there first, and then we will get you hooked up to a heart monitor to observe things." Melody nodded, and looked at Brendan. "You will be able to stay a while? At least till visiting hours are finished?" She never expected him to stay overnight, and she knew that if anything majorily wrong happened that he would be called anyway. A nurse then came in with an orderly. The nurse looked at Melody, pointing to the wheelchair she had, "If you would like to just sit in this, and we can head on up to your room." Melody slowly got up, and moved towards the wheelchair, where she sat down. She looked to make sure that Brendan and Libby were following, and they soon made their way up to the room she would stay at. {ooc - some information from amhrt.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4688}

When Libby had gone off at Melody and her dad about whether she should be there or not she had soon apologised with tears in her eyes. The truth was she was just scared she was going to lose the only other mom she had ever really gotten to know well enough other than Stacey. Melody soon told her that it was okay saying she was only thinking of her and she could stay if she wanted. Libby slowly nodded her head giving Melody a watery smile. “I do want to stay; I need to be with both of you.” However maybe it was a little too much for Libby as she then began to cry but rather than leave she just leant into her dad and kept her face hidden in his shoulder. Bren automatically bent down to kiss her on the top of her head. “Everythin’s gonna be alrigh’ Kitten, stop frettin’ so much.” Bren then did something that he hadn’t done with Libby since the day she had come into his life, he scooped her up into his arms and sat her on his lap and she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. He made sure to keep one arm firmly around Libby so that his other hand could be free to hold Melody’s. He looked over at Melody and gave her a weak smile, “Kinda don’ blame her fer not wantin’ to be alone, but guess it’s still all a bit much fer her.”
Natalie had suggested that Melody be kept in overnight for observation which Bren had agreed to it being a sensible thing. Brendan had then asked if there was going to be any danger to Melody with the pregnancy. He had then confirmed that he would rather have his girl safe than have her risk her life to carry the child. He felt Melody take his hand and give it a squeeze then as he waited on Natalie answering is question. Melody spoke before Natalie however saying she was sure it would be okay but had looked to Natalie to confirm. Bren wanted for Melody to be right but they needed to hear this from a doctor. Natalie answered saying that at this time before any of the results for the blood had come back that Melody would be okay but have to visit Natalie more than normal. Bren nodded his head in several places as Natalie spoke. When he was certain she was finished he decided to reply to her.
“So wha’ yer sayin’ is tha’ she should be fine through the pregnancy providin’ she see’s ya more often than normal an’ takes things easy righ’? An’ am I understandin’ righ’ from wha’ yer sayin’ tha’ the heart murmur may be caused by the pregnancy? Meanin’ tha’ when she gives birth it goes away? Sorry fer askin’ so many questions, I jus’ wanna get it righ’ in ma own head ya understand?” Bren said trying to take in everything that Natalie had just told the both of them about Melody’s condition. For some reason he was beginning to hope that it was caused by the pregnancy so that when she gave birth everything would go back to normal. However it would possibly mean Bren telling Melody that he wouldn’t want her to risk her life having another child with him. Although with Libby and Melody and a baby of their own it would really be the only family Bren would ever need, although having another baby or not wasn’t his decision it would be Melody’s and he knew despite any risks that he would stand by whatever decision Melody made.
Bren then listened as Melody asked her own question about the murmur being connected to the pregnancy. Again Bren took in what Natalie said in response. “Am sure we’ll do everythin’ we can to make it as stress free as possible. Out of curiosity would a holiday be out of the question? Am jus’ thinkin’ ahead tha’s all.” Bren had the idea of a holiday in the back of his mind ever since Christmas but hadn’t done anything about it because he had wondered if it might have doubled as their honeymoon. Now he guessed that planning a wedding was going to be stressful for her, it did however give him an idea to play around with if Natalie agreed that a holiday would be okay for her. Melody then asked Bren if he could contact her work and tell them the situation. He nodded his head, “Sure sweetheart I can do tha’ fer ya.” He was about to stand up when a nurse came in saying she had a room for Melody and spoke of getting her settled before hooking up the heart monitor. Melody then asked Bren if he would stay for a while. Under any other circumstances he would have stayed the night but with Libby it was only fair to get her home and into bed.
“Yeah, should be able to stay fer a little while, if it weren’ fer Libby I’d suggest stayin’ but should get her home to her bed.” He was waiting on a rebellious answer from Libby but he never got one and as he looked down at her he could see that she was already asleep in his arms. Soon enough an orderly was in the room and helped Melody into a wheelchair to take her to her room. “Libby’s actually asleep in ma arms Melody, I reckon if she don’ waken, migh’ hafta stay after all, an’ I still hafta make tha’ telephone call.” Bren then followed the orderly to the room they were taking her to with a sleeping Libby in his arms. As they walked he looked at the nurse, “D’ya think ya could get us a family room fer stayin’ the nigh’, jus’ in case our daughter don’ waken?”
It wasn’t as if it was that late but it was pretty obvious the ordeal had taken its toll on Libby and if she needed sleep then he wasn’t going to take that away from her.

After Melody told Libby she could stay if she wanted to, she listened to what Libby had to say. She nodded at the girl’s reply, and wanted her feel like she was truly part of what was happening. “Well I am okay with that.” Melody gave Libby a reassuring smile, hoping it would make it okay a little for her. Though then she saw Libby begin to cry, and leant into Brendan, hiding her face. Melody didn’t know what to say or do then, but watched Brendan kiss Libby on her head, and then after telling her to stop fretting, picked her up and placed Libby on his lap. Seeing the scene unfold in front of her eyes, seeing how Brendan was with Libby made her own emotions get the better of her, and felt a tear fall from her eyes. Melody quickly wiped it away, and watched him turn to her and talk. She gave him a quick smile, “Maybe it is, but I agree with you. She is part of this family, so need to not include her. Though, this situation is something that is new to her, and even to me.”
When Natalie finished talking to them about what they should do while Melody is pregnant, Brendan replied with more thoughts, and questions. Melody looked at him, and then to Natalie to hear what she had to say about what Brendan said. Natalie gave Brendan a reassuring smile, “I don’t mind the questions, Brendan. It is only natural for these type of questions to be asked.” Natalie dragged a chair over, and sat down near the other side of Melody’s bed. “I can’t see why Melody won’t be fine during the pregnancy. I would still stick with what I suggested, like taking it easy and also come and see me a lot more often. And yes, the heart murmur could be to do with the pregnancy, as it can happen.” Natalie sat forward a little, “I can’t guarantee it will just go away when she gives birth. It might, but we won’t know for sure about any of it till the time comes. Once more tests are completed, we can then see what is causing it, and what treatments may have to be introduced.” Natalie then remembered Brendan’s comment about taking a holiday. “Well, with the holiday comment, maybe something close to home. Maybe not a lot of flying, just to keep things a bit simple for now. Sorry.” Melody shook her head a little. “It’s okay. I am sure that we can work something out if and when the time comes. Rest doesn’t sound like a bad idea.” Melody turned and gave Brendan a small smile.
Melody gave Brendan a small smile, when he said that he would call work for her. As she watched him get up to call, a nurse came in, and then Natalie confirmed that they had a room for her. She had asked Brendan if he could stay for a while, and smiled at him as he replied, “Thanks Bren. And I understand. Libby does need to her sleep, especially with all this excitement.” Melody felt a little bad for having to drag Libby down with all of this, but she knew that she couldn’t help it, and knew that she would be able to rise above this little bit of drama. Melody looked in Libby’s direction, and could see that she was asleep. Shaking her head a little, she knew that it would be for the best if Brendan stayed just for a few minutes, then left, as she was only thinking of Libby. She was about to say something, when she finally got settled in the wheelchair, and nodded at Brendan, when he said that Libby was asleep.
As they went in the direction of where the room was, Melody was about to turn and tell Brendan that maybe he should just go home with Libby, when she heard him talk to the nurse about getting a family room for them. Melody kind of looked at the nurse, waiting to see what the response was. The nurse looked at Brendan, thinking if they had room or not. “I think we have some room, only for tonight though.” Melody turned, smiling to herself, knowing that she would feel a lot better knowing that Brendan and Libby were close by. Though she had a feeling everything was going to be okay.

When Libby had said told Melody that she did want to stay because she needed to be with both of them, Bren heard Melody say that it was okay for her to stay. However Libby had then begun to cry and leant into Bren hiding her face. Bren had then picked Libby up and placed her on his lap in a bid to try and calm her down. Bren had then looked at Melody and said he didn’t blame her for not wanting to be alone but reckoned it was still a bit much for her. He saw Melody give him a quick smile and then agreed that maybe it was too much for her but had agreed with what Bren had said adding that the situation was new for Libby and even for herself. “Yeah, an’ it’s new to me an’ all, I sure hope we can cope with this alrigh’ Melody.” He wasn’t meaning to sound bad at all, but he wanted to make sure that they would be able to keep Melody out of the hospital as much as possible.
After Natalie had spoken to them about Melody’s condition and her being pregnant Bren had asked a lot of questions and voiced some thoughts wondering what Natalie would say about them. He gave Natalie a weak smile when she told him that she didn’t mind the questions and that it was only natural for those types of questions to be asked. Bren then watched as Natalie dragged a chair over and then began to talk answering his questions and Bren carefully listened nodding his head in various places to acknowledge that he was taking in what Natalie was saying. “So righ’ now wha’ yer sayin’ is tha’ we do wha’ yer tellin’ us an’ everythin’ should be fine, but we won’ know if the murmur is permanent or not until after Melody gives birth?” Bren questioned wanting to make sure that he got it right this time. It seemed like a long time to have to wait to find out if the heart murmur was permanent or not, but more than anything he was just more worried about Melody and her health.
Bren had then asked about her condition and the chance of having a holiday only because he had been playing around with the idea of them getting married and having a honeymoon but when he heard Natalie’s response to that his heart fell slightly but knew that he would have to try and keep the disappointment out of his voice when he replied to Natalie about that. Melody had then spoke saying that it was okay and that they could work something out if and when the time came adding that rest didn’t sound like a bad idea. Looking from Natalie to Melody and back to Natalie, Bren then said in a half joking way, “I guess tha’s the surprise weddin’ an’ honeymoon canned.” He didn’t want to say anything else about it, but he had been thinking that if the doctor would allow her to fly that he could have booked a holiday to Hawaii which would have doubled up for their wedding and then honeymoon, but figured that a six hour flight would be classed as too long. “Guess we’re waitin’ until tha’ baby is born afore we get married then sweetheart.” Bren said giving Melody a small smile. He was desperately trying not to sound too disappointed but it was difficult not to, he was so in love with Melody and so proud of her that he was desperate to marry her and when he had asked her the one place she had always wanted to go and she had mentioned Hawaii, he had it in his mind since then that he had wanted to surprise her like that, but now it wasn’t likely to happen and really it wasn’t Melody’s fault that she had taken this heart murmur.
When Melody had asked if Bren could stay for a while he had said he could for a while but with Libby being with him would have to get her home to bed. Melody replied saying that was fine and agreeing that Libby needed her sleep with all the excitement. “Thanks fer understandin’ sweetheart.” Bren replied but had then noticed that Libby was asleep in his arms and said as much adding that if she didn’t waken he might have to stay the night after all. When they were told there was a room for Melody and they began to make their way toward it, Bren had asked if there was a family room they could stay in if Libby didn’t waken. The nurse replied saying that there was some room but only for that night. Bren nodded his head, “Tha’s fine an’ thanks.” Bren replied to the nurse and looked at Melody giving her a smile feeling happy that at least for tonight he could be close by.

Melody heard what Brendan said in regards to them coping with this current situation alright. She knew deep down it wasn't her fault, and looked down at her hands after he said it. Melody was normally a strong person, but right now, in this situation, she felt more weak then strong. She blinked a few times, feeling tears in her eyes, but managed to keep them at bay. Melody found her voice, and still looking at her hands, she decided to reply to what Brendan said, "I hope so." She wanted to scream out 'why can't I have a normal pregnancy like everyone else!' but she knew that it wasn't the right time for that at all.
Natalie listened to what Brendan said, and she nodded a little. "Without seeing any of Melody's previous medical records, it would be that way, yes. With picking it up before Melody was pregnant, then we could have done all the tests, which we will do as much as we can do now." Natalie turned to Melody, "If you have a regular doctor that you see, maybe I can contact them and get your records sent over." Melody nodded, "I do, but I haven't seen him for a few weeks. His name is Dr. Kevin Day, and he works at the East Las Vegas Medical Centre." Natalie wrote that down, "Thanks. As soon as you are settled in I will give him a call."
Melody's hand instantly flew straight to her mouth, when Brendan spoke of the surprise wedding and honeymoon being canned. She was a little surprised at what he said, and looked at him, raising her eyebrows a little. Then he said that they were going to wait till the baby was born before they got married. Melody bit inside her cheek, feeling like she was the one dragging all of Brendan's apparent plans. She swallowed a little, "Sorry Bren." Natalie shifted in her seat a little. "Let's not jump to conclusions yet, okay. If it is only a slight one, Melody will be fine to do normal everyday things. But we can go through all those things after the tests are done." Melody reached for Brendan's hand, "See, things will be okay. We just need to be patient." She gave him a smile, and hoped that what she was saying was true.
Melody smiled back at Brendan when he found out that they could stay for that night at least. She relaxed a little in the wheelchair, and soon they were in the room where she would stay for however long it took to get the tests done. The foot rests were put up, and Melody slowly got up and moved to sit, then lay on the bed. The nurse pulled up the covers, and Melody smiled at her a little. Natalie turned to the nurse and told her to see if there was room for Melody to start on the tests that were required. The nurse nodded, and walked out of the room. Natalie then went over to Melody, "I am hoping that we can fit you in for a couple of the tests now. When the nurse comes back she will draw some blood so that can get tested right away."
Melody nodded, then settled into the bed a bit more, just knowing that resting was what she should be doing, what with the fainting before. Natalie wrote up Melody's name, and her name up on the board above her board, then placed Melody's chart at the end of the bed. "I will be back later if we are able to schedule you in, okay?" Melody slowly nodded, "Okay." Natalie then nodded to both Melody and Brendan, then left them alone.
Melody sighed a little, then looked at Brendan, "I am glad that you are staying for a night at least." She turned to look at the sleeping Libby, "I hope that she will be okay. I hope I didn't scare her too much." Melody looked at Brendan, "I guess we just need to focus on the positive right now." She nestled her head into the pillow a little, just wanting to relax until the tests started.
{ooc - not sure Mands if you want to end the thread soon, instead of talking about the tests that she will get done, or go through. I guess I can just journal it.}

When Bren had said that he sure hoped they could cope with Melody’s new situation he hadn’t meant to make it sound bad and really he wasn’t blaming Melody at all as it wasn’t her fault he was just very worried about her. Melody replied saying she hoped so and all Bren could do was give her a weak smile and then he kissed her on the top of her head so that she knew that he wasn’t angry at the situation at all, just really worried.
After Bren questioned the doctor he then listened to her reply and then basically repeated back what he had heard to get it confirmed. He saw Natalie nod her head and then spoke saying without seeing any of Melody’s previous medical records it would seem that way and then mentioned about getting the tests done as soon as they can. Bren nodded his head slowly, “Alrigh’ then, sounds like a plan.” He replied and then listened to Natalie as she then spoke to Melody and Melody replied handing over Doctor Kevin Day’s details to Natalie.
When Bren spoke of the surprise wedding and honeymoon being canned he had been teasing slightly, but in all seriousness he had been thinking of doing that as a surprise. However he hadn’t meant for Melody to get upset over it and when she put her hand up to her mouth Bren could only shake his head and give her a weak smile. Melody apologised and that made Bren feel guilty for having said something at all, “Don’ be sorry sweetheart, am more concerned fer ya an’ the baby, everythin’ else can wait if it hasta.” It was true, it wasn’t as if he had actually booked or paid for anything yet, but he was very close to doing so.
Natalie then spoke telling them not to jump to conclusions and that if the murmur is a slight one Melody will be fine to do normal everyday things but could speak about it after the tests were done. Bren wasn’t totally convinced but he nodded his head a little anyway. He was going to say something to Natalie when Melody spoke saying that things would be okay and they would just have to be patient and gave him a smile. Bren gave her one back, but it was still etched with worry, “I guess so sweetheart.” He replied hoping that things would be okay and Melody would still be able to lead some sort of normal life.
Soon enough they had made their way to a room and Natalie spoke of being able to get some of the tests done right away and the nurse would draw some blood when she came back. Bren really didn’t want for it to be a serious one, not just for his benefit or Melody’s but for Libby’s too. He felt as if she had gone through enough for someone so young. To have her mother die, find out her father was alive, think she had a new mother in Stacey and a baby sister or brother on the way only to lose them when it turned out that the baby wasn’t Bren’s and he ended the relationship and then the ordeal that Libby had gone through herself not that long ago. She had certainly grown up quite fast in the time since coming into his life but he felt that one more thing going wrong in her life might just knock her back for good. Bren then watched as Natalie wrote Melody’s name on the board above the bed on the wall and then put the chart on the end of the bed and told Melody she would be back later if she could schedule her in for some tests. Bren gave Natalie a weak smile before she left the room.
Melody soon spoke saying that she was glad they were staying for one night at least adding that she hoped she hadn’t scared Libby too much. “I’m glad we’re able to stay an’ all, an’ I ain’ sure if ya scared her a lot or not, guess she’s jus’ been through a lot fer someone so young ya know?” Bren replied hoping that Melody wouldn’t feel too bad about it all; after all it was nobody’s fault that she had taken this murmur, if that is indeed what it was. When Melody said she guessed they had to focus on the positive right now Bren gave her a warm smile. “Yeah, yer righ’, we have each other an’ we have Libby an’ a baby on the way an’ we love each other, tha’s pretty positive stuff.” Bren said and felt Libby beginning to stir and she looked up at him with sore red eyes. He hugged her to him and kissed the top of her head, “Yer alrigh’ sweetheart, an’ Melody’s gonna be alrigh’ too, jus’ wait an’ see.” Libby then slid off of Bren’s lap and gently rested her head on Melody’s chest, “I love ya mommy, an’ I don’ want anythin’ happenin’ to ya.” Bren got up then and kissed Melody on the lips gently and then knelt down so that he could put his arm around Libby and the other on Melody’s arm.

Melody swallowed a little as Brendan said that she didn't have to apologise, stating he was more concerned for her and the baby. She nodded, "Okay. I know you are right, but still..." Melody hoped that she was able to be right soon, so that whatever Brendan had to plan for and book he could do soon enough, before she got too far into her pregnancy.
Once Natalie had left them alone, Melody had said she was glad that they were staying for one night at least, adding that she hoped she hadn't scared Libby too much. She moved her head on the pillow a little to get a bit more comfortable, and listened to what Brendan said. Hearing what he said about Libby, Melody nodded. The poor thing had been through so much, and now this. She hoped deep down that she would be okay as much as she could be during the pregnancy, and cause too much grieve. Melody just loved Brendan too much, and just wanted to focus on the positive, and that is what she spoke of next.
She gave Brendan bit more of a smile as he spoke. Melody nodded slowly, "I agree. I love you and Libby so much." She then rubbed at her stomach gently, "And going to love this little one so much as well." Melody then saw Libby stir in Brendan's arm. Melody could see that she was looking a little sad still, which was not surprising. She watched Brendan with her, and could imagine what he was going to be like when their baby was as old as Libby was. That thought made her think positive thoughts again, which is what they had to do.
Melody soon saw Libby move from Brendan, and move towards her, resting her head on Melody's chest. Melody put an arm around Libby, trying to comfort her as much as she could. She gently moved her hand along Libby's back, "I love you too Lib. I will be okay." She then saw Brendan move to be with them, and Melody kissed Brendan back as he kissed her. When they parted, she smiled back at him, and felt Brendan with them, all together.

When Melody said that she knew he was right but still and trailed off Bren shook his head slightly and then took her hand and caressed the back of it, “Everythin’ will be fine sweetheart, all I care abou’ righ’ now is gettin’ ya better, we can worry abou’ the rest of later.” He replied as he continued to caress the back of her hand, “The last thing we need is fer ya to go worryin’ abou’ it as am sure it ain’ gonna help any.” He gave her a warm smile then, so that she would know that he really wasn’t as disappointed as he had first made out to be. Yes it was true he just wanted to marry her, but he did care more about Melody and her health and their baby than he did about planning a surprise wedding and honeymoon, there would be time for that later.
It was certainly a harrowing time for them all and he couldn’t help but hope that whatever it was with Melody it wouldn’t be serious, not that he wouldn’t deal with it, he would, but for Libby’s sake as she really had been through enough for such a young child already. However he knew that whatever was wrong that it wasn’t Melody’s fault it would just be some cruel twist of fate that they would have to learn to deal with. Melody had then said they just needed to concentrate on the positive right now which Bren agreed to saying that they loved each other, had Libby and a baby on the way which were all positive things.
When Melody replied to what he said she agreed saying that she loved Libby and him so much adding that she was going to love the new baby just as much as he watched her rub at her stomach gently. He gave Melody a warm smile, he loved the fact that Melody loved him so much and then he looked at her stomach and where her hand was rubbing at it. “Ya ain’ the only one tha’s gonna love tha’ one so much. Seein’ ya givin’ birth an’ bein’ there from the beginnin’ is gonna be awesome fer me Melody, ma precious Little Butterfly.” With that he gave Melody a wink and couldn’t help but reach over and place his hand on top of Melody’s gently.
After Libby had stirred she had slipped off his lap and he watched as she gently rested her head on Melody’s chest saying that she loved her and didn’t want anything happening to her. Bren had to bite back some tears. Bren then watched as Melody put her arm around Libby obviously trying to comfort her and told her that she loved her too adding that she would be okay. Libby then shifted slightly and looked up at Melody and gave her a smile, maybe not one of Libby’s typically bright smiles, but she was obviously exhausted and still upset over everything. Libby then reached up and kissed Melody on the cheek softly. Bren had then moved over to be with them both and kissed Melody on the lips and he soon felt her kissing him back. They might have to take things easy, but at least he knew that she was going to be alright. Melody then gave Bren a smile and he gave her one back, one of his cute ones when his dimples show clearly.
“I know it ain’ the ideal situation righ’ now, but I jus’ wanna say I’ve gotta be one of the happiest men in the world righ’ now an’ ya know somethin’ Precious, soon as yer on yer feet alrigh’ we’ll get this weddin’ planned, cause I ain’ sure I can wait fer much longer to make my mine.”
