Friday 26th February 2010 It was half past two in the afternoon, and Melody was on her way to the doctors for her first appointment. Sometimes she still couldn't believe that she was pregnant. With Libby being hurt, and almost dying five weeks earlier, it had been a shock to find that she was pregnant with Brendan's child. It hadn't meant to be a happy moment, but then Libby was healed by a doctor who had the ability to heal, and all was then well. So now they were all one big happy family, and the next step was for her and Brendan to get married, after him proposing on Christmas day. That had been the highlight of the day, along with her consumating their relationship, and no longer being a virgin. The pregnancy had gone okay in the early stages. Melody wasn't sure how far along she was yet, as when the doctor had taken that blood and told her that she was pregnant, he hadn't said how far she was, as she would have had to have gone for more tests. So today would tell her how far along she was. Morning sickness had not been welcoming, but Melody had found that she was able to eat dry crackers to help that. Sometimes she felt sick only till mid-morning, sometimes it lasted till lunchtime. Luckily it never effected her work at night reading the news, which she was happy about. Though it did limit her work reporting news around Las Vegas during the day. Though everyone at the station was very supportive, which she was happy about. They soon reached the local hospital, where the doctor was, and Melody got out, and took Brendan's hand as they made their way to the reception desk. "Hi. Melody Webb to see Doctor Natalie Glover." The receptionist nodded. "Just take a seat, and she will be right out." "Thanks." Melody turned and spotted two seats nearby. As they made their way there, she put her bag on the seat. "I just need to pee. I will be back." She smiled at Brendan and headed towards the woman's toilet. Melody did what she had to do, then got out. As she stood at the sink to wash her hands, she looked at herself in the mirror. All she could do was smile at herself, feeling happy and nervous at the same time. Melody then headed out to Brendan, and sat down next to him. She placed her bag on the floor, and reached for his hand, interlacing her fingers with his own, "I can't wait to see how everything is going in here." She then moved his hand over her stomach, and sighed, giving him a warm smile.

It was a little like déjà vu for Brendan only this time it was with Melody, the woman he clearly loved like no other before her. From the moment he and Melody had set eyes on one another again Brendan had fallen deep and the feelings he had for her were never like the feelings he had had for any other woman before. Even with Stacey whom he thought he had loved with all his heart, with Melody it was just different. He was very protective and in fact he had been a little jealous when talk of male fans had come into the equation and he actually didn’t like feeling like that, but it was also the sign he knew that Melody was the one for him. Now she was pregnant with his child and although the memories of the first scan with Stacey was still etched on his mind he knew that with Melody that it was definitely his baby and yet he still couldn’t help but to feel nervous over it.
Of course when Melody found out she was pregnant it was the day that they had almost lost Libby so the day had been filled with a myriad of emotions. Just when they thought all hope for Libby’s survival was lost a very kind doctor who had the ability to heal approached them when she had overheard their tragic story and said she could make Libby as good as new. Brendan naturally agreed to the doctor doing this but he hadn’t dared hope that everything would be good. So there was nobody more relieved and happy when he saw Libby sitting up in the bed and wrapping her arms around him and crying with apologies looking as good as new. So he had his gorgeous daughter back, a fiancée and now a new baby on the way, really things couldn’t get much better for Brendan other than to marry Melody.
Soon enough they reached the hospital where they would be seeing the doctor and once they had both stepped out of the jeep Brendan felt Melody take his hand and he gave it a gentle squeeze and smiled deeply at her. Melody greeted the receptionist and asked for Doctor Glover and Brendan just smiled at the receptionist as she told them to take a seat and the doctor would be right out. Melody then turned to Brendan and basically told him she had to go pee; he chuckled a little and smiled, “Alrigh’ sweetheart.” He slowly let go of her hand and made his way over to the seats to wait on Melody returning. Soon enough Melody was back and sitting down beside him and she reached for his hand interlacing her fingers with his. He turned to face her then and gave her a bright smile but inside he was actually nervous as hell because of what happened the last time he had attended the scan with Stacey, for some reason that day just seemed to come flooding back to him and it wasn’t a nice memory whatsoever.
He shuddered slightly thinking about it and it wasn’t even the finding out the baby wasn’t his which was making him shudder at the memory, it was the way he had acted toward her, Brendan had never been like that with a woman before, he had said some terrible things to her and now he could only hope that she had moved on with her life and was happy like he was. In many ways he regretted the way he had treated Stacey at the time, but then as he looked at Melody and knew how happy he was now he couldn’t help but to think it was the right decision he had made no matter how hard it had been. Melody broke his thoughts as she said she couldn’t wait to see how everything was going in there and moving his hand over her stomach. He smiled deeply at her again and winked, “Tha’ makes both of us Precious.” He hoped that he was covering up his obvious nerves as he spoke because he didn’t want Melody to ask what was wrong, because telling her what he was thinking was going to be ridiculous because he knew that this child was his, he had been Melody’s first so there was no denying that this baby was his.
{ooc - not sure what you will get out of this since most of it is memories and thoughts - but I felt for the intial post it had to be like that - sorry, I'm sure it will get better}

{ooc - it's okay - I am sure that I will get something from it.}
After Melody had gotten back to Brendan, she had sat down, and interlaced her fingers with his. She had noticed that he was a bit lost in thought, and wondered what he was thinking about. Melody didn't think he had doubts about this baby, but to her it felt that everything was okay. She loved Brendan, and couldn't wait to be married to him. And also give him this child that they were now having. She had said to him that she couldn't wait to see how things were going in there, and moved his hand over her stomach. Seeing that smile, made her worries go away then, and gave Brendan a smile back. Hearing what he said made her definately stop worrying.
Then a woman came over to them. "Melody Webb?" Melody nodded. The woman extended her hand to Melody, who took it and shook her hand, "Doctor Natalie Glover." Melody nodded again, smiling. "Come on through." She picked up her bag, and then took Brendan's hand, and followed Natalie into the room. The door closed behind them, and Melody sat in one of the two seats opposite Natalie's desk. She looked at Melody's file, as she had one at the hospital, after that time when she was tested to see if she was a match for Libby, resulting in finding out that she was pregnant. "Well firstly congratulations. Is this your first?" Melody nodded, "Well, for me it is." She giggled a little, then squeezed Brendan's hand a little. "Brendan has a daughter, who I guess I call mine as well." Melody turned to Natalie.
"I guess today's visit it to find out how far along I am, and see how it is all going." Natalie nodded, "Okay. Well let's see now then. Why don't you hop up on the bed over there, and I can take a look." Melody got up from the chair, and made her way over to the bed, where she laid down. Natalie turned to Brendan, "You can come over as well if you like. I am going to be using the ultrasound machine to take a look visually first." She pulled over the machine, turning it on, then got out the gel. "If you can lift up your shirt, and I will place some of this on your stomach. It is going to be a bit cold." Melody lifted her shirt up to just under her bust, and then Natalie squirted the gel on her stomach. Melody jumped slightly, giggling a little.
Natalie then placed the paddle on Melody's stomach, and began to move it around to get a picture of how it was going. Soon an image came up on the screen, though not a lot to see for now. Melody looked at the image, trying to make out what they were meant to be seeing, when Natalie spoke to them both, as she pointed to the screen. "Well I think you are about six weeks Melody, by what I can see on the screen. Everything looks okay. I can't see anything that might jeopodise the pregnancy. I might just take some basic vitals after this, and then see where we go from there, okay?" Melody nodded, then Natalie handed over a paper towel, which Melody used to wipe the gel off of her stomach.
She then got up off the bed, and fixed her top, then made her way over to the chair again. Once she sat down, Natalie took her blood pressure, and listened to her heart and breathing, then checked her ears, and other things. Natalie went back to her desk, and wrote down a few things. "Everything looks good Melody. But there is something that I noticed. When listening to your heart, I heard something a little abnormal. It might be nothing, but it might be a slight heart murmur." Melody bit on the inside of her cheek, wondering what that meant. She glannced at Brendan, swallowing a little, then turned to Natalie. "So, um, will this make a difference with the pregnancy?" Natalie shook her head. "I would have to do more test to determine what it is that I was hearing, but with careful monitoring, and more visits with me than normal, I can't see why you can't have a normal pregnancy." Melody nodded, "Well, we might as well get those tests done then sooner than later."
Melody felt surprisingly calm, despite the fact that she was the one with a possible condition. She looked at Brendan to see how he was going, giving his arm a bit of a squeeze with her hand. "Bren, did you want to say anything or ask anything?"

{ooc - uhm yeah, think you got something from it somehow lol}
Soon enough Melody’s name was called by a woman who then introduced herself as Doctor Natalie Glover to Melody and Brendan smiled at the doctor as she and Melody shook hands. Natalie then told them to go on through and Brendan felt Melody take his hand and he gave hers a gentle squeeze and followed her into the room. Melody sat down in one of the seats and Bren sat down in the other and already could feel the nerves building higher within him. Natalie began looking through Melody’s file and soon asked her if it was her first. Melody replied saying that for her it was, but Brendan already had a daughter. He looked at Melody then and gave her a smile as she felt him squeeze his hand. It did make him feel good knowing that Melody classed Libby as her daughter because after Libby’s accident she had taken to calling Melody mom and she had never done that with Stacey from what he could remember.
Melody then spoke to Natalie basically saying what she thought they were there for today and Natalie soon replied saying that she would have a look now. Bren watched as Melody made her way over to the bed the doctor had gestured for her to lie down on and then Natalie turned to him saying that he could come cover as well if he liked. Bren wasn’t sure, as the last time he had sat that close it had all gone to shit, but then he had to keep realising that this was different. This was Melody, he was her first, the baby was his, and there was definitely no denying that fact. “Yeah sure, I’d like tha’.” He replied as he made his way over to the bed and instantly took one of Melody’s hands in his own.
Brendan then watched as Natalie pulled the machine over and got out the gel telling Melody to lift her top up and warning her it was going to be cold. Natalie then squirted some of the gel into Melody’s stomach and the soon as it made contact he felt Melody jump slightly and then she giggled. Right away the scene played out in his head of the very same way Stacey had reacted and he dropped Melody’s hand as if it had just shocked him and he quickly fumbled to get up from where he had been sitting and backed out of the room until he was standing outside and he stood up against the wall with his head in his hands. He was so annoyed at himself, he was seriously going to have to pull himself together. He had never told Melody about Stacey so she wouldn’t understand what was going through his head right then. He took in a deep breath and counted to ten telling himself again that this was different. This baby was most definitely his. He rubbed at his eyes with this thumbs, ran his hands through his hair and then made his way back into the room and sat down on the chair again.
“Am sure sorry abou’ tha’ Melody an’ Natalie, I guess I jus’ had a bit of a moment.” He gave them both a weak smile and wondered what he might have missed. He heard Natalie say that everything was looking good when he had walked back into the room so he figured he hadn’t missed much as he had only been out of the room for about a minute, maybe even less. When Natalie continued to talk and said that she heard something abnormal when listening to Melody’s heart this piqued Bren’s interest and so he sat up a bit in the chair. He wasn’t sure if he was ready to take any bad news, it had taken him long enough to get over the fact that he almost lost his daughter Libby a few weeks ago. He soon heard Natalie say a slight heart murmur. He was about to ask if that was dangerous when Melody got in first asking if it would make a difference with the pregnancy. Bren felt like he could let out a sigh of relief when Natalie answered Melody’s question. “Well tha’s good then, we’ll be sure to make plenty of appointments with ya then, I sure as hell don’ wanna have anythin’ happenin’ to ma Melody.” Bren said as he gave the doctor a weak smile but made it deeper as he looked at Melody.
When Melody spoke saying about getting the tests done sooner than later Bren had to agree and he nodded his head, “Yeah, I would kinda like to know wha’s goin’ on with ma girl.” Not that Melody would have gotten anything from Bren than love and affection and care anyway but if Melody was going to need even more care then he wanted to know exactly what was wrong with her and how he could go about making things easier for her. Bren then saw Melody look at him and gave his arm a bit of a squeeze with her hand asking if he had anything he wanted to say or ask about. He nodded his head, “Yeah, firstly am real sorry abou’ afore, am guessin’ tha’ everythin’s lookin’ okay with the baby an’ all? An’ if there is a chance tha’ Melody migh’ have this heart murmur ya’ll be able to tell me wha’ we hafta do to make sure the pregnancy goes as smoothly as possible yeah?” He knew that he was going to have to tell Melody about Stacey and why he had acted the way he had before, but if Melody was about to go through some tests, then it would just have to wait until they left the hospital.

Once Melody was on the bed, Natalie asked Brendan if he wanted to come over as well. It felt to Melody that he was hesitating which made her look over at him. But when he replied, she smiled at him, and soon felt his hand in her own. Melody sighed a little, then Natalie began by bringing the machine over, and squirted the gel onto her stomach. She had obviously jumped at the coldness of it, then giggled. At that moment Melody felt Brendan let go of her hand quickly, and she turned to face him. She licked her lips a little and began to get worried. Was it something she had said or done, though really she hadn't said anything, unless you count her giggling a little.
"Bren..." But that was all she could get out, as he left the room. Melody needed Brendan more than anything right now, and he wasn't here to share what they were going to see on ths screen. Natalie gave Melody a small smile, then commenced with the scan. She looked at the screen as Natalie moved the paddle over her stomach, trying to make out what she was seeing. Then Natalie spoke of her being about six weeks pregnant, and that everything looked okay. Once Melody left the bed, after wiping the gel off, Natalie had taken some vitals back at the chair, then Brendan came in as Natalie said that everything looked good.
Brendan said he was sorry, and saw him give them both a small smile. Melody wasn't sure how to react to how he had acted. She wasn't mad by any means, more concerned than anything, and maybe a little worried. Melody slowly nodded, then turned back as Natalie said that she heard something abnormal when listening to her heart. Melody soon asked if it would make a difference with the pregnancy, and she nodded as Natalie said that with careful monitoring and more visits, she couldn't see why she couldn't have a normal pregnancy. Brendan said it was good, and that they would be sure to make plenty of appointments with Natalie then. Melody looked down at her hands, as he said that he sure as hell didn't want anything happening to her. She turned to Brendan, as he gave her a more prominant smile, and Melody gave him one back.
Melody made the comment of getting the tests done sooner than later, and Brendan added that he would kind of like to know what's going on with her. Natalie put her pen down on the desk. "Well I can schedule something for Monday, if that isn't too early?" Melody knew she would have to talk to her producer about it, but she knew he was pretty good with personal things that might arise. "I will have to talk to work about it, but I can't see it being a problem. Bren?" She knew he was busy with work, despite giving a promotion to one of the people at the newspaper and magazine. And he also had April there to help as well, which had been a God send.
Melody had then given Brendan's arm a bit of squeeze, and asked him if he had anything he wanted to say or ask. She saw him nod, and waited to see what he wanted to say or ask. Brendan apologised for how he was before, then said that he guessed that everything was okay with the baby, and if there is a chance that she had this heart murmur, Natalie will be able to tell him what they have to do with make the pregnancy go smoothly. Natalie nodded, as Melody thought what he said was what should be asked or said. Natalie waved her hand a little, "It's okay. What I can tell from the scan the baby is going as planned, with Melody being about six weeks pregnant. She will be due to give birth around the twenty-fourth of September." Natalie sat back in her chair, "With the heart murmur, it depends on how intense it is. There are six levels to consider with heart murmurs, so when the tests are done, we can then see how we go about with the pregnancy."
Melody nodded, "So, I guess just take it easy over the weekend, then come in for the tests Monday." Natalie nodded, "That would be my recommendation. With this part of the pregnancy, you will be feeling a little more tired than normal, so until we can determine what is going on with your heart, rest should be on the cards, or at least not doing anything strenuous." Melody nodded, then sat back in her chair, turning to Brendan. "Well I guess this weekend can be a lazy one." She smiled a little, then Natalie spoke, "So if we are all done, I will make the phone calls to get the tests set up here for you, then I can give you a call soon to let you know times for Monday."
Melody gave her a smile, "Okay, and thank you so much." Natalie returned Melody's smile, "My pleasure. Oh and I will just get a print out of the scan and dvd for you to take home." Melody got up, and smiled. "Thanks. That would be great." Natalie moved around to the door, opening it up for them, and Melody headed out to the waiting area, and sat down to wait for the picture and dvd. She turned to Brendan, and wanted to ask something, hoping to not bring the mood down. "Bren, are you okay? You know you can tell me whatever it is." At that moment, Natalie came out with what she said she was getting for them. Melody took the dvd and the picture, "Thanks for that." Natalie nodded to both of them with a smile, "Not a problem. I will speak to you soon." Melody smiled, then nodded, and then got up to head outside, hoping that Brendan would open up to her about whatever had got to him before.

After Bren had made his way over to sit closer to the bed that Melody was lying on and Natalie had applied the gel Melody had jumped slightly at the obvious coldness of the gel on her skin and had giggled. It was exactly what Stacey had done and the whole scene just came flooding back to him despite knowing that this situation was different. Bren had let go of Melody’s hand and began to back out of the room. Even when Melody had begun to speak to him stating his name, he was so in the zone of the memory he just carried on out of the room. He did feel terrible about doing it, and he wasn’t out of the room for long but long enough to miss seeing his baby on the screen.
Bren had then made his way back into the room just as Natalie had said everything looked good. He had given both Melody and Natalie a weak smile and apologised. He knew that Melody was sure to ask him about his little episode later and he wouldn’t blame her. However at this moment she just nodded her head and turned back to face Natalie. Natalie had then mentioned that Melody may have a possible heart murmur but had gone on to say that with careful monitoring there was no reason why Melody couldn’t have a normal pregnancy if it was the case. Bren had replied saying it was good and they would be sure to make plenty of appointments with Natalie as he didn’t want anything to happen to Melody. When he had smiled more deeply at Melody then she returned it.
When tests were mentioned to determine more what was going on with Melody, Melody had said she would like to know sooner than later and Bren had pretty much agreed with that. Natalie then suggested she could schedule an appointment for Monday if it wasn’t too soon. Well it wasn’t too soon for Bren; he’d have been just as happy if she’d said tomorrow. Melody then stated she would have to talk to work but couldn’t see it being a problem and then she questioned him about it. Bren nodded his head, “It ain’ a problem fer me, got enough people I trust at the paper an’ magazine, so sure tha’s gonna be jus’ fine. I wanna know wha’s goin’ on as soon as possible.” Melody had then given his arm a bit of a squeeze and asked if he wanted to say anything and he had nodded his head before speaking.
He then reached for one of Melody’s hands and began to caress the back of it with his thumb, he had then apologised to Natalie again for earlier and then asked her if she would be able to tell them what they had to do to make the pregnancy go as smoothly as possible if it turned out that Melody did indeed have a heart murmur. Bren then listened to what Natalie had to say and as she said it was okay he gave her another weak smile, and then continued to listen to everything else she had to say on the matter. He couldn’t help but allow a bigger and deeper smile to spread over his face as Natalie said Melody was around six weeks pregnant and that she would be due around the twenty-fourth of September. He nodded his head in acknowledgment and then listened to what else she had to say about the heart murmur. “Alrigh’ so really there ain’ nothin’ ya can suggest until we find out how bad it is then?” At least once they had the results of the tests they could then have a better idea of what to do and what not to do.
Melody then spoke saying that she should just take it easy over the weekend and come in for the tests on the Monday and Natalie answered her pretty much agreeing with what Melody had said. Melody had then sat back in her chair and looked at Bren saying that the weekend could be a lazy one. Bren gave her a deep smile, “I ain’ got a problem with tha’ Precious.” He just loved spending time with Melody, it didn’t matter what they did together, but just either sitting or lying in each other’s arms was enough for him. Natalie then spoke about getting the tests set up and would contact with the times for Monday. Bren nodded his head and smiled at Natalie again, “Tha’ will be great thanks.” Melody then thanked Natalie also and Natalie said it was her pleasure then mentioned about getting the scan printout and dvd which made Brendan smile deeply at Melody knowing that he would get to see his baby on the dvd at home later. Although to be fair he should never have left the room in the first place.
Soon enough they were out in the waiting area and as Melody sat down Bren did too and then came the obvious question from her as she asked if he was okay. He knew he couldn’t keep it from her, but hopefully all other visits with regards to the baby wouldn’t be like this one. He turned to her with his eyes sad and gave her another weak smile, “Not really, there’s somethin’ I shoulda told ya ages ago but the subject never came up an’ well...” He trailed off as Natalie came back out with the printout and dvd of the scan. Melody thanked Natalie and then she said she would speak to the both of them soon. Bren gave Natalie a warm smile, “Tha’ ya will, an’ thanks again.” Melody then got up and headed to the door and once they were outside Bren turned to her.
“Once we get inside the jeep, I’ll tell ya wha’ tha’ was all abou’ afore.” He then took her hand and led her to where he had parked the jeep earlier and soon enough he had the alarm off and locks opened and opened the door for Melody and once she was inside safely he went round to the driver’s side and once he had his seatbelt over him he turned to her and sighed. “I never did tell ya abou’ Stacey, she was ma previous girlfriend, actually should say fiancée afore I met ya again. Well when I had swept her off fer a surprise trip to Paris, I proposed to her, but she hadn’ been feelin’ too well on the flight, turns out she was pregnant. She wasn’ even sure abou’ keepin’ it at first, but thankfully she came round to the idea an’ all was well an’ happy an’ we were gettin’ married. I was as happy as I could be, or so I thought. The first scan we went to the dates didn’ match, turns out the baby wasn’ mine, an’ am sorry but when ya did tha’ jumpin’ thing and gigglin’ when the gel went on ya, it was the exact same thing Stacey had done and it jus’ all came floodin’ back.” Brendan felt truly terrible because acting like that was as if he was thinking Melody was the same as Stacey and of course she wasn’t.
“An’ I feel real stupid fer doin’ tha’ to ya as I know this one’s mine, wha’ with ya losin’ yer virginity to me an’ all, but..." He trailed off as he looked up and took in a deep breath feeling his emotions getting the better of him as he remembered the scene, “...it wasn’ the best of days, an’ there’s a whole lot more to it to be honest with ya, but am real sorry sweetheart, ya best know tha’ I ain’ gonna do that to ya again.”

When Melody commented on the tests being scheduled for Monday, she had turned to Brendan to see what he thought. He soon said that it wasn't a problem for him, and he wanted to know what was going on as soon as possible. "Well that makes two of us." Melody had then asked him if he wanted to say, which he acknowledged with a nod of his head. He reached for one of her hands, and caressed the back of it. Brendan asked Natalie what they could do to make the pregnancy go as smoothly as possible, if Melody did have the condition. Natalie spoke, and Melody side glanced at Brendan, seeing his smile on his face, as Natalie said how far along Melody was, and when she was due to have the baby. It was all exciting for Melody as well, and she gave Brendan's hand a gentle squeeze. Though didn't want to get overly excited, wanting to remain calm due to the new facts that might be wrong with her.
Brendan then commented about what was said about the heart murmur, saying that there really wasn't anything that Natalie could suggest, until they found out how bad it was. Natalie shook her head, "All I can suggest is taking it easy for now till Monday." That was what Melody soon said as well, saying that she would take it easy over the weekend then come in on Monday for the tests. Natalie agreed with that. Melody then turned to Brendan, stating that the weekend could be a lazy one. Seeing him smile deeply at her, made her smile a bit more back at him. She then nodded, when he said that he didn't have a problem with that. Once Natalie said that she would organise the tests, then call them with the times, they both thanked her, and then they were told that they would get a copy of the scan, via a photo and dvd. Melody smiled at Brendan, glad for the dvd, as he had missed it all before.
When in the waiting room, Melody had asked Brendan if he was okay. She swallowed a little, seeing how Brendan looked, and then listened to what he had to say. Melody nodded at what he started to say, then Natalie came back with the scan and dvd of it. They both again thanked her, and then Melody headed out the door, hoping that Brendan would tell her soon about the whole thing of whatever was on his mind. Brendan turned to her soon enough, and said that once they were inside the jeep, he would tell her. Melody slowly nodded, and followed Brendan to the jeep.
Once they were both in the jeep, Melody slowly put her bag at her feet, and placed her seatbelt on. Turning to Brendan, she began to listen to what he had to say. She had no idea what was on his mind, but if how he reacted to the scan, it had to do with maybe something baby related or something. She closed her eyes for a split second, then concentrated on what he had to say. Whatever it was, she knew she would be okay. Brendan was with her now, that was all that mattered. Hearing what he had to say, it sank in. So he loved this woman, it was obvious, but loved in the past.
When Brendan spoke of Melody doing the jumping when the gel went on, and the giggle, she quickly gasped a little, then placed her hand up to her mouth. She blinked a little, hearing what he was saying to finish off, or so she thought. Hearing that what she had done the exact same thing as this other woman had done, just made her turn to face the front a little. Melody had no idea what to say to what he had said. Brendan continued to talk, and she fiddled with her seatbelt a little, hearing what he was saying, in particular about this baby being his, and her losing her virginity to him. In her head she was saying to him, knowing that he wouldn't be hearing it, It Is Yours.
He then finished off saying that it hadn't been the best of days, and that there was a whole lot more to it. Then Brendan said he was sorry, and that she had to know that he wasn't going to do that to her again, in regard to walking out on her. All this new information was swimming around in her head. But then she had a question. Still unable to look at him, Melody asked, "When was this? When did this happen?" She then looked at him, feeling all these mixed emotions. She knew that this was not going to help her current condition at all, but she just couldn't pick just one emotion to feel at that point in time.
Melody blinked a couple of tears away from her eyes, willing them not to fall. "Was it recently? I guess it would have to be if what I did reminded you of what happened." She swore she heard a slight bit of anger in her voice. She had never been this way with many people, and she felt sick just thinking that she was being this way with Brendan, knowing deep down that none of what happened, she guessed, was his fault. Without waiting for the answers, Melody said in a quiet voice, looking down at her hands in her lap. "Can we just go now?"

{ooc - not sure how big this post will be, as I feel I can skip the first three paragraphs otherwise it's just going to be repeating a lot of things again.}
When they had both got into the jeep and had their seatbelts round them Brendan had turned to Melody and began to tell her all about Stacey and the baby that was never his. He didn’t know how Melody would take it, but he wouldn’t blame her if she didn’t take it very well. After all he was talking about a former lover who had supposedly been pregnant with his child even if it turned out not to be the case. However he had been so happy with Melody that he never thought that he had to talk about Stacey until that moment back in the room at the scan. He should have told Melody about Stacey before they went in for the scan, maybe if he had done that he wouldn’t have reacted the way he had when Melody did the same thing that Stacey had done. Although thinking about it, something cold being put on your skin was the kind of thing that would make anybody jump and possibly laugh a little. God he felt like a complete bastard for doing that to Melody now.
When he saw Melody put her hand up to her mouth and gasp a little he didn’t know where to look, this would be killing Melody and he wouldn’t blame her for having a right go at him, what the hell was he playing at; of course this baby was his. He then heard her ask when it was and when did it happen, but he couldn’t get to say anything before she spoke again asking if it was recently and guessed that it had to be if what she had done had reminded him of it. He could see the tears in her eyes which just made him feel even worse than he already did. He sighed deeply, “It was over five months ago now Melody, so it ain’ tha’ recent, but ya don’ know the whole story yet, maybe when ya do, ya migh’ understand more an’ be less angry with me fer not tellin’ ya any sooner.”
Then again maybe she’d be so hurt by it all, as really to have proposed to someone just over five months after splitting with a previous fiancée it was a bit off, but he had never felt this way for anyone before. Melody had been the one he had been waiting for all his life and he just hadn’t known it and hopefully when he got a chance to tell her everything she would see that there was nobody else for him, that nobody else meant as much to him as she did, other than Libby and his family naturally. But then Melody said in a quiet voice not even looking at him if they could just go. Well what could he say or do? If he refused he was just going to be making the whole thing between them a lot worse.
“Yeah, I guess.” He replied and then turned the ignition on and started up the engine and headed back to his house. He didn’t live that far from the hospital and the whole journey there was done in silence because really there wasn’t much else Brendan could say, not until Melody was ready to listen to the whole story. When they arrived at his place he got out of the jeep and despite the journey there and the atmosphere between them at that moment he went round and opened the door for Melody to get out. Once she was out he locked the doors and switched the alarm on from his key fob and then headed toward the house entrance. He didn’t dare try to take Melody’s hand because he wasn’t sure how she was feeling about everything. Once inside he sat down on the sofa with his head in his hands. This wasn’t how he had wanted this to turn out and it was his stupid damned fault for having a moment back at the scan.
He wanted to take her in his arms and tell her how sorry he was and how stupid he was, but he didn’t know what any of it would do to Melody and since she was supposed to be taking things easy this weekend he figured he would just leave it and wait to see if she approached him.

When Melody asked him if what happened was recent, then she said she guessed it had to be if what she did had reminded him of it, Brendan replied to it. Hearing him say five month, adding that it wasn't that recent, she wanted to yell at him. Five months was pretty recent. If it was a year or a couple of years, then she was give him the benefit of the doubt. Five months was definately recent in her eyes. Brendan then said that Melody didn't know the whole story, and if she did, she might understand more, and be less angry at him for not telling her sooner.
Melody has all these things in her head that she wanted to tell Brendan, but knew that she shouldn't be working herself up over it all. Not until they knew what was going on with her health first. If her worrines and then yelling at Brendan made it worse, she would never forgive herself. She knew she had to stay relatively calm till Monday at least. So she then said in a quiet voice, if they could just go, Brendan said he guessed. He then turned on the ignition, and soon they were heading off for his house.
The whole short trip back was done in silence. Melody propped her elbow up on the window frame, and rested her chin in her hand. Her eyes never looked forward, kept looking out the side of the passenger window. Though her thoughts went to what had been said already. Melody hadn't meant to ask him all those questions at once, but maybe it was the reporter in her that made her do it. She knew she would have to know the full story eventually, but right now, all she wanted to do was jsut get back to Brendan's place, then just go and lay down.
They soon arrived back at Brendan's place. Once the jeep stopped, Melody allowed Brendan to open her door, and she slowly climbed out. Once the jeep was locked, Melody folded her arms across herself, and followed him to the front door. Once they got inside, Melody slowly made her way up the stairs to their bedroomm, and then shut the door. She lent back on the door, closing her eyes. A single tear fell, which she quickly wiped away. Letting out a breath, Melody headed for the bed, and laid down, curling up into a ball.
After about five minutes, Melody turned again, not being able to nap at all. All of what had happened, going from the good, then the bad, was rushing around in her head. She rolled over to face her bag that was on the bed still, and remembered what Natalie had given them. Melody slowly slipped her hand in her bag, and pulled out the photo and the dvd. She looked at the photo, and a smile spread across her face. There wasn't much to see yet, but it definately made her very much aware that she was carrying Brendan's child. She knew then what she had to do.
Melody got up off the bed, and then slowly opened the door, and headed down to the lounge room. Seeing how Brendan was made her feel that she needed to show him something much more positive than what they had been talking about. Without even acknowledging him, Melody moved over to the dvd player, and slipped in the disc. She pressed play, then slowly made her way over to Brendan, sitting next to him, and watching what was being shown on the dvd.
Melody then swallowed. "Bren? Watch this, then we can talk."

When Bren had told Melody that it had happened over five months ago adding that it wasn’t that recent although he should have probably known better than to have said that, Melody never said anything and going by the way a woman thinks there was probably a big chance that Melody still thought it was fairly recent. Maybe it was, but she didn’t know the whole story like he said and maybe when she did she would understand more. The whole drive back which hadn’t taken that long really was done in complete silence and Bren couldn’t help but wonder what thoughts were going through Melody’s mind. He had to assume that she wasn’t about to leave him because if she was going to do that she probably would have done it already. In a way he couldn’t blame her for being angry at the way she had found out, he should have told her the soon as their relationship had stepped up a level, at least then she may have been prepared for him being a bit on edge at the scan despite knowing that this baby was his.
After Bren had opened the door for Melody to get out of the jeep she folded her arms over chest and walked up toward the door with Bren in silence. Once they were inside Melody made her way up the stairs obviously heading for their bedroom. Bren knew it was to just leave her alone for now and let her approach him about it all when she was ready. Bren had made his way to the sofa in the lounge room and sat down with his head in his hands knowing that the day hadn’t turned out like it should have for either of them and it was all his fault. He hoped that when it came time to talk to Melody about it some more she would understand the pain of believing you were going to have a child and then have it ripped away from you weeks later. He was so lost in his thoughts and sadness he didn’t even hear Melody come into the lounge room until he saw a shadow approach the television area and looked up to see Melody put a dvd into the dvd player.
Melody then sat down beside him and all she said was to watch it and then they could talk. It hadn’t taken much for him to know what dvd it was she had put in to play. He looked in her direction and gave her a weak smile and nodded his head and then turned to watch the television and looking at what he was seeing on the screen filled him with sheer emotion. He still felt truly terrible for having walked out on her at that moment because he knew that this baby was his, Melody was different and he was in love with her like he had never been in love with any woman before. Why did he have to let a stupid reaction which probably most women did get to him so much? He could feel the tears beginning to roll down his cheeks as he continued to watch the dvd. It wasn’t that long, just a couple of minutes but that was typical of a baby scan dvd. When it was finished he turned to Melody with another weak smile with the tears clearly visible. “Am really sorry sweetheart, ya gotta believe me.” He swallowed a couple of times and then continued, “Am still findin’ it amazin’ tha’ am gonna be a dad again an’ get to see this one grow up, ya’ve no idea wha’ it means to me, an’ again am really sorry abou’ afore.”

Once Melody had tried to sleep up in their bedroom, she couldn't and soon came down with the dvd and scan in her hands. She quietly put the dvd into the player down stairs, then went over to Brendan, telling him, after sitting down next to him, to watch the dvd, then they would talk. Brendan looked at her, and gave her a small smile, nodding his head. Melody then turned back to the television. As she watched it, Melody glanced at Brendan, and forgot that she was, or had been mad at him, and just felt love for him all over again. Just knowing that she was carrying his child made her happy, and just wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.
Melody lent her head on his shoulder, and soon the dvd finished playing. She sighed a little, and lifted her head off of his shoulder to look at him. The first thing she saw were the tears, and Melody didn't know what to do or say, feeling emotion come over her, though keeping it at bay somehow. Brendan then spoke, saying that he was was really sorry, saying she had to believe him. Placing her hands over her mouth a little, Melody felt tears in her eyes, "Oh Bren..." But then he spoke more, and she let him talk.
The conversation they had had in the jeep was slowly disappearing from her mind, and she shook her head at what he said. "Bren... it's okay." Melody wrapped her arms around him, and lent her head on his shoulder. "I believe you Bren." She hugged him for a few more seconds then moved away from Bren. Melody then sat up a bit, and took his hand in her own, and placed it over her stomach. "And I can't wait for you to be this ones father, and see him or her grow up." She then lent in and kissed him on the cheek, letting it linger for a couple of seconds. When Melody moved apart, she handed him the picture from the ultrasound, and then sat so she could look at him. "Are you okay with talking more about her? And maybe I should apologise for the way that I acted as well. I shouldn't be judging anyone till I hear the story I guess."

As Bren and Melody watched the dvd together he soon felt her lean her head on his shoulder and he moved his to lean on hers gently, it felt good to have her there sitting beside him as they watched the dvd together of their tiny baby on the television. Bren began to feel a mix of emotions, happy that he was finally getting to see the baby on the screen and pissed because he had let what she did make him walk out and cause her to get mad at him. Well it wasn’t the walking out that got her mad it was the story about Stacey really. He couldn’t blame her. However it would seem that the earlier words were forgotten as they sat together and Bren couldn’t help but let some tears fall knowing that this time he was going to be there through it all, everything that he had sadly missed with Libby.
Bren had then turned to Melody and spoke saying that he was really sorry and she had to believe him. He saw her put her hands over her mouth and said ‘Oh Bren’ but she had trailed off because Bren had spoken some more adding that he was finding it amazing that he was going to be a dad. Melody then said it was alright and he felt her wrap her arms around him which felt good and he felt like he could relax a little then. So he wrapped his arms around her as well. Melody then spoke some more saying that she believed him. This just made him lean his head down and kiss her on the top of her head.
Bren felt Melody hug him for a short time which he returned and then she moved out of the embrace and sat up a bit but he felt her take his hand in her own and placed it on her stomach. This move made Bren’s eyes well up with tears again and then Melody spoke saying that she couldn’t wait for him to be this one’s father and watch him or her grow up. He gave her a deep smile and replied saying, “Tha’ makes both of us Precious.” Melody then leant in and kissed him on the cheek letting it linger for a few seconds which made Bren feel warm on the inside. Melody then moved away apart from him and handed him the photograph of the ultrasound. He grinned at it and touched it gently with his finger and then he turned to Melody and said, “This is goin’ in a frame an’ ya know I should get one of them t-shirts done with it on an’ it sayin’ underneath, ‘Yeah this is ma baby an’ am real proud’, wha’ d’ya think of tha’?” He asked her and chuckled slightly.
When Melody spoke again she asked if he was okay to speak more about her obviously referring to Stacey and added that she should apologise for the way she acted saying she shouldn’t judge until she hears the full story. Bren shrugged slightly, “its alrigh’ Melody, wha’ ya had to hear couldn’a been easy fer ya, I understand tha’, an’ sure I can talk more abou’ her.” He replied and gave Melody a deep smile and then took in a few breaths before continuing. “Like I said afore, she wasn’ even sure abou’ keepin’ the baby, but she eventually came round to the idea much to ma joy. Well I mean I was happy as ya can probably tell with this one cause I had missed it all with Libby ya know. Everythin’ seemed to be goin’ well up until the point of the scan. Like I said afore she did tha’ same move but I reckon all women probably do tha’ when somethin’ cold is gettin’ put on ya then it’s only natural. Anyway it turns out the dates didn’ match up to when she shoulda conceived. I questioned it, an’ to be honest I guess the baby not bein’ mine migh’a been somethin’ I coulda coped with only I found out tha’ the father was the man I got put behind bars fer spikin’ her drink with a drug. Tha’s wha’ got me really mad an’ I walked out on her an’ said some real nasty things to her, some things I ain’t proud of mind, but at the time, I was a happy man who thought he was gonna be a dad an’ a few weeks later got it ripped away from me. The love I had fer her jus’ evaporated like tha’.” He said as he snapped his fingers.

After Melody had hugged Brendan for a little while, and felt Brendan hug her back, which was nice. Just knowing the situation they had been in a little while ago, it just felt better to know that they were seeming okay now. Melody had then moved, and had taken Brendan's hand, and placed it over her stomache, stating that she couldn't wait for him to be the baby's father, and watch him or her grow up. Melody returned Brendan's smile, and nodded when he replied back. It was the truth, as she had never felt this way about anyone, and was kind of happy that it was Brendan in the end.
Melody had then handed Brendan the photograph, and watched him touch it with his finger. When he turned and spoke to her, she had to giggle at what he wanted to do with the photo. Hearing what he wanted to put on the t-shirt, made her shake her head, and smile warmly at him. "Bren. You are the only one that I can think of that would do that." Melody laughed, and then imagined Brendan proudly showing it off to everyone. She knew how he felt, as he had missed out on see Libby grow up from a baby.
After that moment, Melody had asked Brendan if he was okay to speak more about her, in regards to Stacey who he had been with before her. She also apologised for how she had acted before, adding that she shouldn't judge until she heard the full story. Brendan replied, adding at the end that he could talk more about her. So he start to speak more about Stacey and the situation to her, and Melody sat and listened, nodding at certain parts of what he was saying. She raised her eyebrows though at the part when he mentioned who the actual father was for Stacey's baby.
Brendan then finished off, telling her about how he was not proud of the nasty things he said to Stacey, which she kind of knew, as he had never said a bad word, as such, about anyone. But if this guy that had inpregnated this girl, was a bad guy, she guessed that if she had been in his position, she might have been the same. Melody then nodded when Brendan finished off with how he had been a happy man, and that the love for Stacey just evaporated. Melody gave him a quick weak smile, and shifted a little in her seat.
"Hearing all this makes me wonder why this all happened to you. I guess love can make you think things that you hope to be true." She then leaned in to Brendan, and rested her head on his shoulder. "But it can also make you see that you are truly with the right person in the end." Melody moved to look at Brendan, and smiled at him. "I love you so much Bren, and I can put what you told me behind us, if you can?" Melody waited to see what Brendan might say, hoping that he could, because she could as she loved him so much. Really, they all had some sort of baggage that they had to share with someone sometime.
After a few moments of just sitting there together, Melody sat up, and turned to Brendan. "So. Since I have to apparently take it easy this weekend, what are we going to do then?" She knew that she had to go back into work soon for the news at six o'clock, but at least they could plan the weekend around her apparent rest and relaxation.

When Bren had commented on what he wanted to do with the scan photo of their baby he heard Melody giggle a little and then she smiled saying that he was the only one she could think of who would do something like that. He grinned at Melody and followed it through with a chuckle before saying, “Ya know I reckon any proud father to be would do tha’ kinda thing, reckon I would’a done it with Libby had I the chance ya know?” Bren said and smiled warmly at Melody knowing that he was going to be very proud indeed and showing off every new scan photo to anybody who would show an interest, even to those who seemed uninterested.
Melody had then asked Bren if he was okay to speak more about Stacey and although it was difficult for him he knew that Melody had a right to know what had gone down with him and Stacey. So Bren told Melody what had happened with Stacey in greater detail and she was acknowledging what he was saying by nodding her head in several places. He had ended with saying that he wasn’t proud of some of the things he had said about Stacey but he had just been really happy and had it ripped away from him. Melody gave him a weak smile and then shifted slightly in her seat which made him wonder what was going through her head with what he had told her.
Melody soon spoke saying that everything he had told her made her wonder why it happened to him, well he had no answer that really. He was about to say something when he felt Melody rest her head on his shoulder and then she spoke again saying that it could make you see you were truly with the right person in the end. Well he had no arguments over that one. Bren replied saying, “I reckon yer righ’ there Melody.” Melody then moved slightly and he shifted to look at her and saw that she was smiling at him and he smiled back at her deeply, showing off those cute dimples of his. Melody then said that she loved him and that she could put what he told her behind them if he could. “Hell yeah course I can put it behind us, I wanna move on with ma life, an’ I wanna move on with the woman I’ve lost ma heart to, an’ the woman who’s carryin’ ma child.” Bren said in a soft voice as he put his hand on Melody’s stomach again and gave it a gentle rub.
After a few moments Melody sat up and turned to Bren asking him what they were going to do for the weekend seeing as she had to take it easy. Bren sighed a little, “I dunno sweetheart, I could suggest jus’ stayin’ in bed but tha’ ain’t gonna be too clever with Libby around. I’d suggest goin’ to visit ma parents, but tha’ would mean travellin’ an’ tha’ ain’t gonna be good fer ya either I wouldn’ think. Could jus’ get take-away an’ sit an’ watch some movies, been a long time since I jus’ sat an’ watched some movies, wha’ ya think?” Bren suggested and rubbed at her stomach some more gently as he waited for her to reply.

Melody listened to what Brendan said about the whole baby photo on a shirt idea, and she had to agree with him a little. "I think you are right." Then she had an idea, "Well when you get your own shirt made, maybe you can get me one too? Might as well be a pair with it." Melody laughed a little, wondering what people might say or do when they saw them both walk down the street wearing the same type of shirt with the picture of the scan on it.
After Brendan spoke of Stacey, his previous love, Melody had put her thoughts out there, and soon rested her head on his shoulder, stating that whatever happened, it could always make you see you were truly with the right person in the end. When Brendan replied saying that he reckoned she was right, she smiled a little to herself. She was quite content with Brendan, and was lucky that they had run into each other that day, or who knew what the last few weeks would have been like without him.
When Brendan had moved, Melody had looked at him, smiling, and soon saw him return the smile, loving those dimples of his. She then wondered if their child would have those gorgeous dimples, like Libby had been lucky to inherit. Melody had then said that she loved him, and that she could put what he had told her behind them if he could. She smiled all the more, and loved what Brendan was saying, sighing a little. Then he moved his hand to her stomach, rubbing it gently. Melody placed her hand gently over his own, "And I can't wait to raise this baby with you, Mr. Brendan Harris."
Melody had then asked what they were goig to do for the weekend, since she had to take it easy. She listend to the suggestions he gave, loving how he was soon saying that the first two were going to work for obvious reasons. But then the third reason sounded good to her, making her nod. The feel of Brendan rubbing at her stomach again, made her smile. "Sounds good to me. How about we start now." Melody gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, "What do you fancy watching?" She quickly stood up, and son realised that was the wrong thing to do, as she felt light headed.
Melody put her hand up to her head, and turned slowly to face Brendan, "Shouldn't have gotten up so fast. Feeling slightly dizzy." But that was all she got out, when she light headed again, and then collapsed onto the ground. The last thought she had was she hoped it wasn't anything to do with the baby.
