Friday, 23rd April, 2010 It had been two weeks since the horrific ordeal where Tommy’s best mate Dominic had been stabbed during the open air concert in Hawaii. It had been touch and go for a while if Dominic was going to survive, but after a life saving operation with a kidney transplant from his twin brother Ryan, Dominic soon began the long process to full recovery. Dominic had been discharged from hospital earlier that day as doctors had been baffled at how quickly he had regained his strength but Tommy had a feeling that was down to Dominic’s power of being superhuman. Although Dominic had gone home to probably be cared for by Sam, Tommy and the boys from the band and the dancers had decided to go out celebrating the good news especially when on the day that it had happened there was a chance they may never have been able to perform with Dominic again. They decided to go to a cafe bistro where they could get some entertainment as well as a few drinks and they had all had a really good night. Slow but sure the guys and dancers all began to leave and soon enough Tommy was left alone not that it bothered him, he still had a drink in front of him and he was enjoying the entertainment and a certain waitress kept catching his eye. She was like a china doll; her eyes were ice blue and her skin porcelain white. If Tommy hadn’t known any better he would have thought she could be a vampire, but surely they didn’t actually exist, they were just a myth, right? Tommy was fascinated with vampire lore and had read enough about it but no matter what he had read, not one book had the information the same. Well, some of it was the same, but there were so many differences that sometimes Tommy didn’t know what was real about the lore and what was wrong. He finished his drink and was heading toward the toilet not really watching where he was going when he stumbled and fell into someone and as he turned he realised it was the girl with the porcelain white skin. He felt awful and immediately held his hand out to help her to her feet. “I’m really sorry about that, I wasn’t watching where I was going, are ya alright?” He asked and giving her a bit of a smile.

Kerry was working one of her usual night shifts at the cafe bistro she worked at and it had been a pretty quiet night. Well it had been until a group of about ten people guys and girls had come into the place and began talking and drinking and getting what Kerry could only describe as rather happy. It was nice to see though and she wondered what they were celebrating as they had popped some champagne. However Kerry was still getting used to her new vampire status and when it came to crowds in the bistro she tried to veer away from them as much as possible. She hadn’t quite gotten used to her fangs popping out with her emotions. Usually when she was excited about something or as she had found out rather recently when she was turned on.
As the group began to disperse Kerry kept looking over at the table and thought she recognised one of the faces and then as he was left on his own she knew exactly who it was. It was Tommy Joe Merlotte, the bass player for Dominic Salvatore. She loved Dominic’s music and after going to a couple of his concerts she had fallen in love with the bass player Tommy Joe. Although when she saw him kiss Dominic she had wondered if he was gay until she read an article by Dominic that clearly stated that the kiss was an act and that Tommy was in fact straighter than a straight line. She had remembered laughing at that quote.
With Tommy being on his own she had begun to make her way over to see if she could get him anything else when she was too busy concentrating on keeping her fangs in place she didn’t notice that Tommy had actually gotten up from his seat and suddenly she was knocked off of her feet and fell right onto her backside. She could feel her face flushing furiously as she looked up at him feeling really foolish for having not watched where she was going. Even for a vampire Kerry could blush and she had a certain amount of heat run through her due to the ring that Stefan Winchester had given her to get out during the day, it also gave her some of her humanity back. The only thing it didn’t do was help her age like a normal human being.
She soon saw that he had his hand out to help her up which she took and he was apologising and asking if she was alright, saying he hadn’t been watching where he was going. Once she was on her feet her eyes just searched his face and then suddenly found her voice. “Am alrigh’ ya ain’ hurt me or nothin’.” She said and then as if remembering who he was all over again she began to giggle a little nervously. “Oh my god, yer Tommy Joe Merlotte, I just love ya, ya gotta know tha’.” She added and then could feel that her fangs were beginning to come out and instantly put her hand up to her mouth covering it and hoping that he didn’t see.
She then felt them retract and began to talk again, “I’ve wanted my picture taken with ya fer so long ya got no idea an’ here ya are in here, d’ya think I could get my picture taken with ya, I’d absolutely love it. An’ am sorry, listen to me all excited an’ ya probably just wanted to get back home or somethin’. I’m Kerry Milton an’ I already know who ya are as I said afore.” She said and then thought oh my god to herself again and prayed that her fangs would stay where they were. Although she remembered that photo of him dressed as a vampire and it had driven her nuts. She would mention that later if he decided to talk to her and not run out on her.

After Tommy had helped the girl to her feet he noticed that her eyes seemed to roam all over his face and for a brief second it unnerved him wondering why she was doing it, but maybe she was just shy and didn’t know what to say to him, because he soon saw that porcelain white skin with a tinge of pink as she had obviously blushed. She soon spoke and as she did the uneasiness he had felt soon evaporated as he just found her accent the cutest thing he had ever heard and couldn’t stop a smile from spreading over his face as he listened to her and watched her closely. “I’m glad I didn’t hurt ya, and I gotta say ya got a cute accent, where ya from originally?” He asked but he knew it had to be Texas or New Orleans, somewhere down south anyway. He might use the word ya for you but it’s just the way he spoke, it certainly wasn’t in a Southern accent.
Then she began to giggle a little nervously and as she spoke about recognising him he lowered his head slightly and wondered if she really did like him or just the fact that he was associated with Dominic but as she continued to speak he had a feeling that not only did she like Dominic’s music but she seemed to really like him too. No sooner had she finished talking at that point Tommy could have sworn he saw her with fangs and then went back to his earlier thoughts about her pale skin. But she couldn’t be, could she? She had put her hand up to her mouth and he couldn’t help but to remove it with one of his own. But they seemed to have gone and he couldn’t have another look as she had closed her mouth. “I’m sorry, I was just fascinated there as I could have sworn I saw fangs, are they veneers?” He asked her but as he still held her hand it felt cooler than a normal human’s skin would although it wasn’t ice cold like he had read vampire skin can usually be.
The girl soon began to talk again about how she had wanted a picture with him for so long and then it all went into a slight ramble about how he probably wanted to go home or something. He began to shake his head, “No, you’re alright, I don’t need to go home yet. And I don’t mind ya getting your picture taken with me, but I kinda have to dash somewhere first, do ya mind?” He asked as he looked in the general direction of the toilet. Once she answered him he disappeared and was back out a few minutes later. “Alright then, go get your camera and ask someone to take the photo for ya.” He said giving her a warm smile and then realising she had given her name to him he continued, “And I love your name, it’s real pretty and it suits ya.”
Once the picture was taken Tommy grabbed a napkin and signed it for her and handed it to her, but somehow he didn’t want to leave it at that, there was something about this girl that was attracting him to her. So he decided to ask her a question. “When do ya finish work for the night? It’s just if you’re up for it, I might like to do the honours of walking ya home.” Tommy said and gave her another smile really warming to this gorgeous ice blue eyed, red haired, porcelain skin beauty standing in front of him.

After Kerry had made it clear that Tommy hadn’t hurt her he had commented on her accent and asked where she was from originally. She gave him a bit of a shy smile, “Thank you, an’ am from New Orleans originally an’ then I moved to New York for a while an’ now am here.” Kerry answered giving him a slightly rambled answer and not sure why he would want to know that she had been in New York before coming to Nevada. “But I hafta say tha’ am lovin’ Nevada because some of the best people are from here.” She added looking right into Tommy’s eyes referring to him and Dominic of course but Tommy was the one that she was attracted to, Dominic was just a handsome awesome singer who was gay so she had no chance with him.
Kerry had then begun to gush over Tommy slightly and as she got excited about it she had felt her fangs come out and immediately put her hand up to her mouth closing it feeling quite embarrassed, because she was pretty certain that he wouldn’t want to know her if he found out that she was a vampire. Tommy had then removed her hand from her mouth and she wasn’t sure where to look but the feel of his touch was so nice and she found herself looking down slightly. Tommy then began to speak apologising and when she heard the next thing he said she looked back up again and wasn’t sure whether to be honest with him or not as he did seem to be fascinated. So she shook her head slowly a little and then ran a hand through her hair. She then replied saying, “No, they ain’ veneers.” But she still didn’t know if she should say anything else. But then she thought if he had already seen them and she had just admitted that they weren’t veneers he would maybe already have an idea.
She leant into his ear then and whispered, “Am a vampire, a new one, am still gettin’ used to everythin’ ain’ told anyone afore as am sure they wouldn’ wanna know me no more.” She then pulled away from his ear and bit down on her bottom lip as she looked down at the floor again. If he was going to run out this would be the moment she thought. However he seemed to stay where he was and then she began to ramble about having a picture taken with him. When he answered saying that he didn’t have to go home yet she began to smile a very bright smile and feeling quite excited all over again and once more her fangs came out but this time she just left them so that he could see them properly since he seemed so fascinated before. Tommy then said that he had to make a dash somewhere first and did she mind. She shook her head gently as she continued to smile at him and then waited for him to come back.
It didn’t take very long for Tommy to make his way back to her and she had been clearing a few tables while he was in the toilet and couldn’t help but break into a grin when he returned and told her to go and get her camera. Kerry always carried her camera around with her because she liked to take pictures as well as be in them. Although it is known that vampires do not show up in photographs this isn’t always the case as it usually depends on the camera and Kerry’s was a digital one and she always showed up in the photos that had been taken since she was turned. “Alrigh’ thanks.” She replied and was just about to get the camera and someone to take it when she heard him speak again saying he liked her name and that it was cute and suited her. She could feel her face blushing again slightly, “Thanks Tommy.” She then went into the back and got the camera and asked Ash to take the photo for her.
She came back out with Ash following behind with the camera and wrapped her arms right around Tommy until the photo was taken and the soon as it was she kissed him on the cheek. “Thanks Tommy, tha’ was real nice of ya to let tha’ happen.” Ash then shook her head and giggled a little and then went back into the back with the camera and Kerry knew that Ash would put it back into Kerry’s bag. Kerry then watched as Tommy signed a napkin and handed it over to her, she picked it up and ran her finger over where he had written the following: To the beautiful Kerry, much love Tommy Joe and it had a couple of kisses after it. She lifted it up and held it to her mouth and then put it back down quickly realising he might find it strange. “Thanks, tha’ was real sweet of ya.” She thought that maybe that would be it, and he would say he had to go, but she was wrong.
Tommy was asking when she finished as he would like to do the honours of walking her home. Kerry could feel herself getting a bit giddy at the prospect of being walked home by a musician and one of Dominic Salvatore’s musicians at that. “Well I gotta say tha’ I would love if ya did tha’. I can be finished now, it’s gettin’ real quiet, I’ll be righ’ back.” She said as she ran into the back and spoke to Ash about getting away now because Tommy had offered to walk her home. Ash rolled her eyes and laughed, “Only you could pull the hottest bass player around, on you go then. “ Kerry giggled and grabbed her bag and jacket and was beside Tommy quicker than she had intended because her natural vampire speed had kicked into touch.
“Okay, am ready to go.” She said as she stood beside him only seconds after she had said she would be right back.

When Tommy had commented on the girl’s accent asking where she was from originally he couldn’t help but smile some more as she rambled slightly about being from New Orleans and going to New York before settling in Nevada. Seemed like a lot of places to be for being young because looking at her he was sure she was younger than him but probably not by much. He went to say something when she spoke some more about how she loved Nevada as some of the best people were from there. This made Tommy break into a grin, “Is that right?” He asked her and then couldn’t help but tease with her slightly, “Of course you’re referring to Dominic right?” He winked at her then and feeling like he could actually get on well with this girl.
When Tommy was sure he had seen fangs but she had put her hand up to her mouth he had taken it away hoping to see but her mouth was closed. He had then asked about what he saw and asked if they were veneers. Then he saw her shake her head slowly and as she ran her hand through her hair he could tell that maybe she was a little nervous, or worried maybe. “It’s alright ya can tell me.” He said in a gentle voice hoping to prompt her into letting him know more about what he saw. The fact that her skin was cooler than a normal human’s and her pale skin and now the fangs that weren’t veneers he was pretty much certain of what she was. Then she leant into his ear and whispered confirming his thoughts. He could feel his heart breaking slightly at what she said afterward. He took her hands in his, “I ain’t gonna go anywhere Princess, I’ve always been fascinated with vampire lore, never thought they existed to be honest with ya, but hell, now that I do.” He said and gave her another smile not letting go of her hands which felt so gentle in his.
After Kerry has spoken about a photo he had said he wouldn’t mind but had to go somewhere first and he saw that bright smile of hers and then he saw the fangs coming out again. He knew that not all vampire fangs came out all the time, so this must have been what she was referring to with it all being new to her and getting used to everything. He took a proper look at them and he couldn’t help but think they were beautiful just like she was. “They’re gorgeous, just like you.” He said as he took her hand and kissed the back of it before making his way to the toilet. He hadn’t been gone too long before he came back out telling her to get the camera and someone to take the photo. He watched Kerry go into the back of the bistro and soon came out with someone following her, the person who was obviously going to take the photo.
Kerry soon wrapped her arms right around him and he did the same thing to her, with one hand on her back and the other on her neck and once the photo was taken she thanked him giving him a kiss on the cheek. “You’re welcome Princess.” He said noticing that he seemed to be giving her a nickname, something he usually only did to those he really cared about, and yet he had only just met Kerry but it felt like he had known her all his life. Tommy had then taken a napkin and wrote on it saying: To the beautiful Kerry, much love Tommy Joe and put a couple of kisses on it and gave it to her and watched with fascination and a smile at how she reacted to it. She then thanked him saying it was real nice of him. He smiled some more, “Not a problem Princess.” Tommy had then asked what time she finished so that he could maybe walk her home.
Kerry soon answered saying she would love if he did that and that she could finish now. Tommy grinned at her, “That’s great then.” He picked up the rest of his drink and downed it while he watched as she went into the back of the bistro again saying she would be right back but expecting her to be a few minutes at least, but she was back beside him seconds later. Not that it shocked him, after finding out she was a vampire he knew that she would have excessive speed. “Now that’s what I call quick.” He said and chuckled as he then took her hand in his own and began to caress the back of it with his thumb. “Alright, let’s go then. You’ll have to tell me the directions though because obviously I don’t have a clue where I’m going.” He said and gave a little chuckle as he walked her out of the bistro into the warm evening as despite the time the weather in Nevada was always fairly decent no matter the time of year.
