Saturday, 12th December, 2009 - The White House, Washington It was early Saturday evening and Claire and Wade had spent the day together going out for lunch, some shopping and then an afternoon at the cinema and now they were going to spend the evening together in her room at the White House. With it being the weekend there was nowhere near as many staff members working as there usually is during the week, but still Anton was at the main door and opened it bowing slightly to Claire and saluting Wade like he always did. Claire gave him a bright smile, “Thanks Anton.” The door was held open until Wade was safely inside and then they both made their way to the living quarters of the White House. When they reached the hallway of the living quarters Claire turned to Wade, “I’m just going in to see dad, do you want to make your way into the room, I’ll be there soon.” She said giving him a quick kiss and a smile and waiting for him to respond before she made her way into the living room. When Claire had first found out that Nathan Petrelli was her birth father she had found it difficult to believe at first because she had never thought he was too nice a man, but the more she got to know him the more she realised she could trust him more than she could ever trust her adoptive father Noah. Sadly over the past two years Claire had lost her mother Meredith, adoptive parents Sandra and Noah, her adoptive brother Lyle and her biological grandmother Angela. She was never aware of her biological mother’s side of the family and so the only family Claire had left now was her father Nathan and his brother, her uncle, Peter. Claire never called Peter uncle though as she felt there wasn’t enough of an age gap and Peter had told her not to call him it saying it made him feel old. She laughed a little at the memory. She was probably closer to the Petrelli family now than she had ever been to the Bennet family strangely enough. Claire walked into the living room expecting to see her father there but as she looked around she couldn’t see him. It was strange because she wasn’t aware of any duties he had to do that day but then wondered if he was preparing a speech for a later date, maybe his Christmas Day speech and decided to try the study, the only other place he would be, other than at the White House table where he did all his business. She walked into the study and sure enough she could see her father sitting at his chair with his head tilted back and she had to stop herself from laughing thinking that he had obviously been working so hard he had fallen asleep. “You’ll get a crick in your neck like that.” She said as she began to make her way into the rather sizeable study. After taking a few steps closer she stopped dead in her tracks when she saw that her father wasn’t sleeping at all and she could see a deep groove in his neck. She began to walk a bit faster toward him, “Dad?, Dad?” Then as she finally stood in front of him she put her hands around his neck, “Daddy, no.” Nathan's throat had been slit and although the blood flow had stopped it was clear to see that Claire's hands were already covered in his blood. Then she let out a blood curdling scream before saying over and over, “Daddy, no.” She didn’t even think about Wade being in her bedroom fairly near and possibly hearing her scream before but she couldn’t help but shout out to him anyway, “Wade, come into the study please, now.” She shouted before she began to break into hysterical sobs cuddling her father’s dead body to her not giving a damn that she would be covered in his blood. What was she going to do now? Her father was gone, she had nobody in the world other than Peter and he lived in New York and was settled with his job there, she could never expect him to move, the only person she had in her life now was Wade, so devastated by her father’s untimely death she didn’t think about the fact that soon enough she would be asked to leave the White House as the Vice President would have to take over duties and when that happened, where would she go?

Wade was the happiest guy right now. He had a wonderful girlfriend, who was a friend first and foremost, who he loved with everything he had. Sure they had some great times, and some hard times, but what couple didn't? Her father was the President after all, so he made sure that he never disrespected Claire at all, but he knew he wouldn't. Wade loved her too much, and respected everything about her. The information she had found out about her ability had tested their relation ship, but Wade knew that whatever happened, happened, and would let the course of their relationship continue, no matter what.
The day had been great with Claire, and now as it was evening, they would have some alone time. Anton opened the door and Wade allowed for Claire to head in first, then he followed, nodding at Anton, as the door was closed behind him. They headed towards where Claire's room was. Claire stopped and turned to him when they reached the hallway. As she spoke, he brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, giving her a warm smile. "No worries." After Claire gave him a quick kiss, he returned her smile. "Don't be too long, okay?" Wade stood and watched her go for a second, then headed inside her room.
He slowly sat on her bed, and picked up the picture of them beside her bed. Wade sometimes couldn't believe that he was so in love with the First Daughter, despite knowing her for so long before that title was given to her. Wade put the picture down carefully, and then was about to kick off his shoes when he heard a scream. He instantly stood up and ran in the direction he thought it came from. He knew it was Claire, and it didn't sound good at all. As he made his way in the direction he thought, Wade heard Claire call for him. "I'm coming Claire!" And he finally made it to the study.
All Wade could do was stop at the doorway, holding on to the door frame with both hands. He swallowed, wondering what he was going to witness. The chair that Nathan sat it had its back to him, so he slowly walked in, heading towards the chair and Claire. He saw part of her body out the side, mostly her legs, but wasn't sure what the hell had happened. As he came around the side, Wade's eyes widen. "What the hell....?" He saw Claire crying over Nathan's obvious dead body, and Wade instantly put a hand on Claire's back. Since he was now close to Nathan's lifeless body, Wade saw that his throat had been slashed. He knew enough that that would have been the way he was killed, probably after a few seconds at least.
Wade could see that Claire had blood on her from Nathan, and gently took a hold of one of her arms. "Claire, Claire. Come on Bub." He hoped that she would let him go, despite knowing that he was the father who loved her more than anything. But in all fairness, they had to call the police now so that they could figure out what the hell happened to Nathan.
(ooc - and now Wade has a nickname for Claire - Bub! lol)

As they had reached the hallway Claire had said to Wade that she wanted to go and see her dad and that she would be though to the room soon. Claire felt Wade push a strand of her hair behind her ear and it made her smile at him all the more. Claire had then given him a quick kiss and Wade told her not to be too long. “I won’t be, just letting him know that we’re back and find out how his day has been.” She replied and had then made her way into the living room but soon found that he wasn’t there and went to the study instead which was where she had found him. She had joked at first when she saw the way he had been sitting with his head tilted back thinking he was asleep and then as she approached him the cruel truth began to show itself. He hadn’t been sleeping at all he’d had his throat slashed. Claire had no idea who would have done that to her father, but she knew from history with President Kennedy that assassinations can happen and the harsh realisation that her father had been assassinated sent shockwaves running through her.
With her hands and chest from cradling her dead father now covered in blood she had let out a blood curdling scream and then shouted for Wade to come into the study. She was full of understandable grief. It had taken a while for Claire to bond with her biological father once she had found out who he was, but once the bond had been made it had been a very strong one and she began to understand that he cared about her more than her adoptive father Noah ever had. She heard Wade shout that he was on his way and she just continued to cradle her dead father as she knelt on the floor sobbing her heart out. Claire was so busy sobbing and cradling Nathan’s dead body she hadn’t heard Wade actually come into the room until she heard him begin to speak obviously asking what the hell had happened but stopped at the word hell. She then felt his hand on her back and Claire turned but not really moving to look at him and knew that her eyes would be red raw with crying.
She soon felt Wade pull at one of her arms and speak to her, obviously trying to get her away from the dead body and even when he called her Bub it wasn’t registering what he wanted her to do and she tried to pull away from his touch. “I can’t... I don’t...” She tried to speak but the words weren’t coming together very well. “I don’t want to leave him, I can’t.” She finally managed to say but she knew that cradling him wasn’t going to bring him back. He was dead. She knew that her blood if he got a transfusion might bring him back but he had made her promise a while ago that if anything were to ever happen to him she was to promise she wouldn’t use herself like that on him. In a way she knew that he would be disappointed if she went against his word. Reluctantly Claire allowed for Wade to pull her up onto her feet and when she was, she just threw herself into his arms and clung to him like her life depended on it. Then as she continued to cry it was as if everything was finally coming together and she suddenly realised one big thing.
She pulled out of the embrace but kept her arms around Wade and after swallowing a couple of times to clear her throat enough of the lump that was in it she began to talk, “What am I going to do Wade? I mean this is my home but now that dad’s...” She couldn’t even bring herself to say the word, “...he won’t be President anymore, the Vice President will have to take over immediately, I’m no longer the First Daughter and I will not be allowed to stay here, I’m not saying they will throw me out, but I will have to find somewhere else to live. I only have Peter left when it comes to family and I really don’t want to move to New York and I would never expect him to give everything up to move here. Really apart from you, I’m all alone.” Claire then began to cry again and knew that they probably shouldn’t even be thinking about this right now, they had to call the police.
Claire composed herself and began to work on autopilot as she firstly used the intercom button on her father’s desk to speak to all staff on the premises. “I am not sure how this has happened due to the amount of staff in the building but I have just found my father...” She stopped again but knew she had to stay strong and continue, “...I have just found my father dead, he has been murdered, we will be contacting the police and I just had to make you all aware of the situation.” Claire took her finger off the button and then turned to Wade again feeling like all the strength she’d had was just used to make that announcement. “I don’t think I can handle calling the police as well, do you think you could do that please?” She asked and then continued with, “I just feel so unsafe suddenly, someone violated our home, and he could still be here for all we know.” Claire said beginning to sound slightly hysterical as she made her way toward Wade again and just clung to him once more, needing to feel those safe arms of his around her despite the fact that Wade was just a normal human being, which got her to thinking about her ability and wondering once more if she should see about getting rid of it.
{ooc - and love the nickname!}

Wade had made his way into the room, and then moved towards where Claire was with her father. Seeing what had obviously happened, he put his hand on Claire's back, but all he got was a small movement from her. She didn't look at him, but he could tell that she was beside herself with what she had come across in the room. Wade had gently taken one of her arms, hoping that she would let her father go, but no such luck. He felt her try to remove herself from his grip, and spoke in broken sentences. Wade was determined to help her, but he couldn't if she continued to hold her father.
She finally got out that she didn't want to leave him, saying she couldn't. Wade swallowed, "I know Claire," saying it in a soft voice. He just hated how this day had now turned from starting off great, to finishing horribly, more so for Claire, but he wanted her to know that he wasn't just going to let her deal with all this. Pretty much he was all she had right now. Soon enough Wade saw Claire move, and he helped her up off the floor. Once she was up, Claire just hugged herself into him, and Wade just moved his arms around her, trying to comfort her as much as possible. He forgot she had the blood on her, and right now that was the least of his worries.
As she cried, Wade gently moved one hand up to her head, and ran his fingers through her hair, trying to calm her down. She soon pulled away, and began to speak to him. Wade kept his eyes on her, takig in what she was saying. It sounded like to him that she was now thinking ahead of what had just happened, and he had no idea how she could be what with what she had just seen. Once she was finished, she began to cry again. "Shh Claire. We can talk about that later okay? I am not going to let anything happen to you. We will figure something out. And you aren't alone, you have me." Wade knew he would do what he could to help, but right now they had to worry about what was going to happen now, after her father had been murdered.
Wade then watched Claire go to the intercom and begin to talk into it. He watched her talk to everyone in the White House that could hear her, and he felt quite proud of her right then. She was stepping into her father's shoes at that moment, and he wondered if one day she might follow in Nathan's footsteps. Claire had always been a strong person, but seeing her like this just made it more evident in Wade's eyes. She soon finished talking into the intercom, and spoke to Wade about calling the police. "Yeah, I can do that Claire." He nodded towards her, and was about to pick up the phone when Claire spoke about being so unsafe now, and saying that the person could still be there. Wade kind of looked around then when she said that, but then she moved back towards him, and he wrapped his arms around her. He felt like he was kind of useless. He didn't have a power or ability, he was only human. Wade wished he could do more to help.
He moved a little to look at Claire. "Why don't you sit for a minute and I will call the police, okay?" He waited to see what Claire might do. If she chose to stay with him, that was fine. Wade picked up the phone and dialed nine one one.
Emergency Services Dispatch: Hello. How may I direct your call? Wade: Police please.
He soon heard a click, and then the phone ringing on the other end.
Washington Police Department: Hello, how may I help you? Wade: I would like to report a murder. WPD: Yes. Wade: The President of the United States, Nathan Petrelli has been murdered in the White House WPD: Go on. Wade: We are not sure of how it was done, but the person who had committed the crime has come in and slashed The President's throat. WPD: We will send the police right now, but your security team will be also notified about the situation and everyone will be questioned about the matter of cause. Wade: Thank you. Claire, The President's Daughter, and I are here right now, and we have made the staff at the White House aware of the situation. WPD: What is your name sir? Wade: Wade Murphy WPD: Thank you. We will be there as soon as possible. Wade: Okay.
Wade then slowly hung up the phone and put it down on the table. He turned to Claire. "The police are on their way. And everyone is going to be questioned about it. I guess asking why this happened in the first place." Wade then wondered, "Maybe we can speak to the security team now and see about looking at the video footage?" He looked at Claire, then shook his head. "No, don't worry about that, probably too soon to do that." He moved to where she was now, and just put his arms around her, comforting her till someone came.

After Wade had tried to get her away from Nathan’s dead body she had tried to speak a couple of times wanting to say that she didn’t want to leave him. When she finally got the words out she heard Wade reply in a soft voice that he knew. All she could do then was look at Wade with a very sad expression. She just couldn’t believe that her father was gone. It had taken them months to build up a bond once they were reunited but when the bond was made it hadn’t been broken until now. Claire eventually stood up with Wade’s help and had basically hugged herself into Wade. She soon felt Wade’s arms around her and she felt safe while she was there, knowing that being in Wade’s arms for now was going to be the safest place for her.
As Claire cried she felt Wade’s hand move to her head and felt his fingers run through her hair which actually felt nice and quite calming. She knew that it was his way of trying to calm her down and despite how devastated she was she knew she was going to have to be strong enough to be able to deal with telling everyone in the White House currently about the situation. Then she had a thought about how she would have to leave her home because she was no longer the First Daughter and it had all come out in a bit of a sad ramble. When Wade replied he tried to hush her down and then said they could talk about it later adding that he wouldn’t let anything happen to her. When she heard him say that she wasn’t alone and that she had him it just made her cry all the more for a few seconds. Then she tried to compose herself, “I know I have you Wade and I appreciate that. I don’t know what I would do right now if I didn’t have you, but I meant that I have no family, only Peter. But you’re right, I guess now isn’t the right time.” She replied in a sad voice knowing that she had to use that intercom now.
After Claire used the intercom to let everyone in the White House know about her father she had made her way over to Wade and asked him if he could contact the police as she didn’t think she would be able to do that also. Wade replied saying that he could do that and she gave him a weak smile and nodded her head. “Thanks Wade.” She replied and had then made her way over to him after voicing her opinion about not feeling safe anymore. She soon felt Wade’s arms go around her and once again felt safe being in those arms of his. She then felt Wade move slightly and suggest that she go and sit while he contacted the police. She nodded her head, “That might be a good idea actually as I feel like my legs are going to give way at any moment.” She then made her way over to the two seater sofa and sat down bringing her legs up and curling them under her slightly as she leant her head on the arm rest.
She felt like was in a world of her own right then as she continued to sit there with her head leaning on the arm rest and as Wade called the police his voice felt like it was in the distance most of the time. Her mind kept drifting back to the day that she had found out that Nathan Petrelli was her father and how she had reacted to the news. Then she recalled the first hug they had shared and from that moment on they had been virtually inseparable. She hardly even noticed that Wade was finished with the call until she heard his voice say that the police were on their way. “Okay, thanks for doing that for me.” She said in a barely audible voice and still continued to sit on the sofa with her head leaning on the arm rest.
When Wade spoke again he suggested speaking to the security to look at the video footage but before she could get a chance to reply he had brushed the idea off saying that it was probably too soon. Maybe it was but suddenly anger began to replace the sadness and with it some strength as she sat up and shook her head. “No, it’s not too soon. I want to know who did this and if it’s possible the cameras picked up on anything then I want to know who took my father from me.” She stood up then and grabbed Wade’s hand and took him to the security room in the basement level of the huge White House. Several minutes later she knocked on the door and it was soon opened by Leroy the head of security.
“Ah, Miss Petrelli I was just about to contact you. After your intercom announcement I went through all the security footage and I am still not sure how he managed to get into the premises but we do have something from the study and I think the picture is quite clear and I think you might be disgusted to find out who did this to your father.” Claire looked at the gentle giant that was Leroy and nodded her head, “Go on Leroy show us the footage please.” Leroy nodded his head and began to play the tape that showed what had happened and soon enough it became clear to Claire who the culprit was and she spoke in a soft voice saying just one word, “Sylar.”

Wade had heard Claire cry more when he spoke, and he wondered if what he was saying was the wrong thing, but it felt right to him. She had a right to know how he was feeling, and how he was there for her right now. Soon enough Claire spoke to him, reply to what he had said to her. He slowly nodded when she said that she appreciated that she had him, but was referring to having no family, only Peter. Wade gave her a weak, quick smile at what she said. He didn't know what he would do himself if that happened to him in his own life. All Wade knew he could do right now was to be strong and be there for Claire at this terrible time.
As Wade spoke to the police about the current situation, he occassionally glanced in Claire's direction. He saw how she was on the lounge, and hoped that she would be okay, well as okay as she could be right now. He spoke to the police, and had soon finished the conversation with them. After saying that the police were on their way, Claire replied, and Wade nodded his head slightly. "It was not a problem, and wish I could do more right now."
He had then suggested maybe speaking with the security at the White House in order to see if they could catch the person who had done this. Though Wade thought it was too soon, so brushed off the thought. He had made his way over to Claire, putting his arm around her, but soon enough she had sat up and said that it wasn't too soon, and that she wanted to know who had done this. All of a sudden his hand was taken in her own, and he was soon following Wade towards where the security section was at the White House.
Soon enough they were down in the basement where the security room was, and they were greeted by Leroy. He spoke initially to Claire, and Wade looked around at the room. With all the cameras, how could this so called team of security people missed a person coming into the room, where Nathan was murdered? Hearing what Leroy said at the end, made Wade raise his eyebrows a little, then turned to Claire, giving her a questioning look. He had no idea who he was talking about, despite Claire confiding in him about this over the years they had known each other.
Claire told Leroy to show them the footage, and Wade stood close to Claire as they viewed the footage. As they saw the scene unfold in front of their eyes, Wade soon recognised the person's face, and couldn't believe it. Soon he heard a small voice say Sylar's name, and Wade turned to her, totally dumbfounded at who had done this to her father. "Claire is that....?" Wade had heard a little about this Sylar person, but not enough to understand how he could have possibly gotten in with anyone being aware of his presence.
He then heard footsteps coming down the hall of the basement, and Wade let go of Claire's hand to look out the door. A small group of FBI agents were coming towards him. One held up a badge, "Good evening. My name is Special Agent Amy Desplat. And this is my partner Special Agent Vincent Hepburn. We understand that the President has been murdered. Our crime scene team are upstairs right now investigating the room, and we are here to speak with Miss Petrelli and also the security team to get some answers." Amy looked inside the room and saw Claire. "Miss Petrelli? I am sorry about your loss, but I need to ask you a few questions." Wade went to her side, and held her hand. "Whatever you need to ask her, you can do in front of me." Wade looked at Claire, seeing if she was alright with that.
{ooc - you can speak for Special Agent Amy Desplat as well, just thought that it would be good to have them there for some reason lol}

After Claire thanked Wade for contacting the police she saw him nod and then he said that it wasn’t a problem and how he wished he could do more. She gave him a weak smile, “Just being here for me Wade is a big enough help in itself.” She knew that Wade sometimes wished he had a power so that he could do more to protect her, ironic really when she was always wishing that she didn’t have one. She just wanted to be normal. She had grown accustomed to being able to self heal but the soon as she found out that it also came with being unable to age she hated having the power all over again and just wanted rid of it.
When Wade had suggested speaking to the security and brushing it off Claire had agreed that it was a good idea and soon had the both of them down to the security room in the basement of the White House. When Leroy had said that she might be disgusted to find out who had killed her father she saw Wade look at her questioningly. She would have answered him but she was desperate to know if her thoughts about it being Sylar the minute Leroy had said that were true or not and so asked for the footage to be shown and soon enough her thoughts were proven right as she said his name softly.
Wade turned to her and began to question the name and she knew that Wade knew who he was as she had mentioned him a few times but never to any great extent. “Yes Wade, Sylar is also known as Gabriel Grey he was the one who took my power from me, apparently he knew I would survive because of my power, so nice of him to think like that.” She began ending the sentence in a sarcastic voice. Then she continued, “He also killed my adoptive family and now he’s taken my birth father away from me. I hate him with every fibre of my being. Since has my power there isn’t even an easy way to kill him, other than making sure you shoot him in the back of the head where the ‘off switch’ is and then make sure the bullet is never removed.” Claire said sounding extremely angry and maybe a little psychotic because the thought of doing that to Sylar was sitting very well with her right now.
“It also explains how he got into the White House undetected. I noticed that he just suddenly appeared in the study, he has the power of teleportation.” Claire said looking at Wade, “So really there wouldn’t have been much security could do about it at the gates or door but I’m intrigued as to why nobody saw him in the room.” She then turned back to Leroy, “Aren’t these screens monitored constantly?” Leroy gave her a weak smile, “They are Miss Petrelli and I can guarantee that nobody saw anything. It’s almost as if he managed to pull some sort of trick on us.” Claire thought about that for a second, “You know he might have picked up Technopathy that is the ability to manipulate machines, maybe he was able to override something so that you couldn’t see but hadn’t thought about the recording function.” Claire said knowing that if that was the case then the security would be in the clear for anything having gone wrong. It had to be the answer because the security had always been very good; her father had never had the need to change companies at all.
Claire turned as she heard footsteps coming toward the security room and was soon met with a couple of FBI agents and one held up her badge and introduced herself and her partner. The one called Amy then said that she had to ask Claire a few questions and before she got to say anything Wade made a comment about whatever they had to ask her they could do it in front of him. Well Claire wouldn’t have wanted to be on her own with them anyway. Claire saw Wade look at her, “I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way Wade, thanks.” She then turned to Amy, “I am ready to answer what I can, although I can tell you right now I know who the murderer is.” Amy raised her eyebrows at this, “Would you like to elaborate on that?” Claire nodded her head. “Sure.” She then turned to Leroy, “Play the tape again please.”
“If you watch this tape it shows clearly who carried out the murder and the man’s name is Gabriel Grey although a lot of people know him as Sylar. I am not sure if you aware or not, but some of us are known as Evolved Humans, I am one myself, this man is very powerful and holds a vast quantity of powers, I can already tell that he was able to get into the building undetected by the use of teleportation and I believe he may have tricked the cameras by using Technopathy.” Claire said hoping that would be enough for them to go on for now. She didn’t want the security being put under scrutiny when it was clear to see that there would have been nothing they could have done about the situation. Amy beckoned her partner to watch the tape with her.
“Can we get this tape; it will make it easier to track down the suspect.” Amy said and Claire nodded her head, “Leroy can you give the lady the tape please.” Leroy handed it over without question. “Thank you.” Amy said and then turned to Claire again, “I assume that there was no sign of the perpetrator when you found your father?” Claire shook her head trying to keep on top of her emotions. “No, all I could see at the time was my father. But look, he’s a very dangerous man, I urge you to be careful with finding him, he had the ability to self heal, so he’s virtually impossible to bring down or kill, not unless someone was to shoot him in the back of the neck.” Claire lifted up her hair and turned to point out the area. “I have self healing and this is the only area that we cannot heal from unless the object is removed.” Claire continued and Amy nodded her head.
“We will take that into consideration. Could there be any reason why this man would want to do this to your father?” Amy asked and Claire raised her eyebrow a little, “The man is a serial killer, he kills for kicks, but if you ask me, he wants more power, I would be very careful as I said before, there is a chance that he may have taken on the ability to shift shape, which means he could still be in the building now.” Claire said and walked toward Wade and wrapped her arms around him needing to feel safe again.
She then leant in to his ear and whispered, “I don’t know if I can stay here for much longer Wade, the idea that Sylar could very well still be here is scaring the crap out of me. He knows about that spot as well as I do, although now you know how to bring me back I don’t suppose it really matters if he kills me, but if he was to come anywhere near you, I just don’t think I could face losing you too.” The strength Claire had been feeling was fading fast now and she began to cry all over again as she clung to Wade, her safety net.

Claire soon told him that it was in fact Sylar who was behind the murder of her father. He heard the sarcasm in her voice at the end, and he now was starting to get angry at the thought of this guy doing to Claire. Claire continued to speak, and hearing what this guy did to her other family just made him all the more mad. Wade wished that he had the ability of strength so that he could kill the son of a bitch for Claire, so that she would be safe once more. Hearing how to kill the guy sounded good to him, but he didn't know if he wanted to kill a man, despite what he did, and who he killed. "I am sure that whatever info we can give the police about him the better. Maybe we need to mention the finer details just like you did then."
Claire spoke more of how it was easy for him to get in and do the job, and then she questioned Leroy. When Leroy spoke, Claire soon said that he might have another ability to fool them all. Wade shook his head, "How many abilities can one person have? It seems this Sylar person has a few dozen." Wade was just intrigued, but was probably not the best time to be like that right now.
Wade had told the agents that whatever they had to say to Claire, they could say it in front of him. He looked at Claire as she replied, and he relaxed a little, giving her a weak smile. Wade didn't want her to do anything on her own now, despite knowing the fact that Claire could handle herself well. But he also knew that once the adrenaline of helping to piece together the puzzle of her father's murder was done for the night, she would just collapse from it all. Wade wanted to be there to catch her if and when that happened.
The tape was soon run again, after Claire said she knew who the killer was, and it just amazed Wade how this guy was able to do all of these things. Claire explained what Sylar was capable of while he was doing this little act to kill Nathan, and Wade took it all in again. Amy soon asked if she could get the tape, as it would be easier for them to track down the suspect. Soon the tape was given to them, and Claire explained about how to kill Sylar, just like she had with Leroy and Wade. Wade hoped that they do track him down and kill him. If he is that dangerous, he was a definite thread to everyone, Evolved Human or not.
Amy soon replied to Claire, then questioned her as to why Sylar would want to kill her father. Claire replied, and it felt to Wade that she kind of diverted from the actual question, just speaking more about Sylar. Though he heard what she said in the end, and he looked around a little. That thought now made him feel a little uneasy, hoping that he was long gone. He watched Claire then walk towards him, and wrapping her arms around him. Wade did the same thing, holding her close to himself.
Amy then spoke up, "Okay. Well we are going to head upstairs and look around ourselves. If we need to ask you any more questions, we will contact you." Wade nodded his head, and watched Amy and her partner leave them alone. He soon heard Claire whisper in his ear. He could understand that she didn't want to be here, especially if he did have this ability of shape shifting. Then he heard her speak about if Sylar hurt him, she couldn't face losing him. Wade then heard Claire begin to cry, and he tightened his arms arounnd her, and then rubbed at her back slowly with one hand.
"Bub, you can't going to lose me, okay? I am right here with you, and won't let you out of my sight tonight." Wade stroked her hair now, and then pulled out of the embrace slightly in order to look at her. "If you want we can go back to my place. If you want to that is." Wade stroked her hair, hoping she might, as if they didn't feel safe in the White House, there really wasn't anywhere else to go but his apartment.

After Claire had confirmed to Wade about Sylar and then went into details on how you could kill him and actually thinking that it was a great idea at that moment she soon heard Wade speak and she began to nod her head knowing that telling the police the finer details would in fact be a very good idea. She actually didn’t like violence but with someone like Sylar sometimes the only way to stop continuing massacre from a serial killer like that was to end the serial killers life, in other words, it would be easier all round for everyone if the police took Sylar down in the manner she had just described. “I’ll let them know, don’t worry about that.” Claire said with her voice a little dark, but what do you expect when apart from Wade and Peter she was pretty much alone in the world now with no parents to speak of.
When Claire had spoken about how Sylar may have got into the building undetected and then questioned about the cameras not picking him up in the room she had soon come to the conclusion that he may have picked up Technopathy and did some trickery with the cameras forgetting about the record function. She then heard Wade ask about how many abilities one person can have. Claire looked at him and bit on the inside of her cheek slightly before replying to him. “Someone like Sylar can hold as many as they wish. He has a power similar to Peter’s, with Peter he has to tap into his power and then by touching someone he can copy their power, with Sylar he has Intuitive Aptitude and basically can do the same thing, he can take as many powers as he likes but in order for him to do it, he has to kill the victim and that’s why he said I was special when he took mine. The pain was unbearable as he was slicing into my head and I was sitting there with my brain exposed until the wounds began to heal themselves, but after that I couldn’t feel pain, I can now, but for months I couldn’t.” Claire explained and once more was beginning to hate the wonderful ability that she had. She ached to be normal.
Claire had then spoken to Agent Desplat and told her as much as she could, however when Amy had asked why Sylar would want to kill her father she realised that she hadn’t actually explained herself very well. “I should say that when I say he wanted to have more power, I believe that he may have wanted to portray himself as my father. As I mentioned that he may have the ability to shift shape, which is also why I said he could still be in the building now.” Claire shuddered slightly as she explained herself more and looked around a little uneasy because there was a chance that he could have shifted into anyone in the room right now. “Thank you for the extra information, it would have been quite disconcerting to have come across Nathan Petrelli in the street after knowing about his death.” Amy explained and Claire nodded her head knowing exactly what Amy meant by that. In fact if Sylar had been clever enough and disposed of the body and then posed as Nathan she might never have been aware, at least not at the beginning anyway.
Amy then spoke again saying they were going to take a look upstairs and if they had any more questions they would contact her. She watched Wade nod his head at Amy and Claire gave her a weak smile, “I’ll make sure I’m available if you require me.” Soon enough she and Wade were left alone and she had soon told Wade that she didn’t think she would be able to stay at the White House for much longer. When she had mentioned about not being able to face losing him too she had begun to cry again and she felt Wade’s arms tighten around her and rubbed at her back. This was helping to calm her down a little, but really it was just such a tragedy, she had no parents left, blood or adoptive. It was just her and Peter, which was all that was left of their family, everyone else was gone. Of course Wade was her family too, but she was referring to blood family.
Wade soon spoke saying she wouldn’t lose him and he wasn’t going to let her out of his sight and began to stroke her hair. She could feel herself calming down more now and when Wade pulled out of the embrace slightly to look at her she gave him a weak smile and sniffed a couple of times as she nodded her head at what he had said. Wade then spoke some more saying she could go back to his place if she wanted to and continued to stroke her hair. Really she had no option but to accept as she didn’t feel safe in the White House anymore and the only other person and place she would feel safe was in New York and it was too far away really. She nodded her head and sniffed a few more times as she composed herself to be able to talk clearly to Wade. “I would like that, I definitely can’t stay here and as you know the only other person I’d feel safe with was Peter and I’d have to get to New York for that, it’s just too far away. Right now I think the only person I really want to be close to is you.” She hugged into him one more time and then pulled out of it and took his hand in her own, “Let’s go then.”
She then turned to Leroy, “If Amy needs to question me again, you have my mobile number, can you give it to her. It’s been a pleasure having you and everyone in my life while my father was the President but I know where his death leaves me. I know that I can stay with Wade until I get a place of my own, once everything is clear here we will come back for my belongings probably sometime tomorrow.” Claire said softly wondering what Wade would think about her mentioning a place of her own, she had a feeling that he might suggest she just stay with him permanently and if that was the case she knew she wouldn't say no. Leroy stood up then and wrapped his arms around Claire gently and gave her a massive hug. He was a great teddy bear of a black man and Claire knew she was going to miss him. “It’s been a pleasure for me too Miss Petrelli and please take care of yourself.” Leroy then turned to Wade, “Make sure you look after her, she is one in a million and you are pretty much all she has now.”

After Wade had asked Claire how many abilities could one person have, she soon told him. Just hearing about it was still a mystery to him. But for Wade, he was human with no ability to speak of, so still sometimes, despite knowing Claire for so long, the ability thing was just a lot to take in. Claire went into the whole explanation, and then mentioned again how it felt to have your ability taken like how Sylar does it. She had told him so long ago about it, but still hearing it made him shudder inside. Wade wrapped his arm around her gently, "Well I am just glad that you are here now. But still sorry for what he did to you."
Amy soon questioned Claire about why Sylar would want to kill her father. Wade listened to what Claire said, and it made sense to him. But this guy was just insane, wanting to be powerful. He must be seriously messed up, thought Wade. Wade saw that Claire was looking around after she spoke, and he brought her close to him, trying to keep her safe if he was indeed nearby. Amy soon thanked Claire for the extra information, and after hearing about what they were going to do, the agents left them alone.
Wade soon said that she could come back to his place. Really, he didn't want to leave her alone for a second now, not with the mad man that was Sylar, possibly roaming around undetected. He watched her nod her head, and he rubbed at her back hearing her speak in reply. He nodded when she spoke about Peter, and sometimes he wished that he might live closer, so that she has some sort of blood relative close to her. Right now, Wade knew that he was the closest thing now to her, and also she would be relying on him to keep her safe. Wade didn't mind that in the slightest as he loved her more than anything.
He wrapped his arms around her tighter as she hugged herself close to him. Resting his chin on her head, Wade sighed a little, wondering what was to come next. He knew that Claire was going to have to move out as she was no longer the First Daughter. But what was going to happen once her father was finally put to rest? Would Sylar come out of the woodwork, and start to annoy Claire? He didn't know if he liked that scenario at all. Claire soon pulled out of the embrace, taking his head, saying 'let's go then'. Wade nodded, and got ready to go.
Claire soon spoke to Leroy, and hearing what she said about having him and the rest of the staff in her life, made him really proud of her right then and there. Despite what had happened that night, Claire was staying somewhat strong. He looked on in admiration, knowing also that what she was doing was also hard, having to say goodbye to so many people who she has known or gotten to know since being in the White House. She finished off commenting about staying with him till she got a place of her own. Wade slowly frowned, but then moved it away. He didn't know if he wanted her to live on her own, especially after what happened tonight.
Wade stepped back while Leroy had a moment with Claire, and waited for them to say goodbye to each other. After Leroy spoke to Claire, he looked at Wade, and said to make sure that he looked after Claire, stating that she was one in a million, and that he was pretty much all she has. Wade nodded, "I will, don't you worry about that." He looked at Claire, extending his hand, "I will not let her out of my sight. I love her too much to let her go now." Wade gave Claire a small smile. He then steered Claire towards the corridor, and headed them both up to the main level of the White House.
Once upstairs, Wade stopped, and gestured with his hand for her to look at him. "You know that I will want you to stay with me. You don't have to look for somewhere else to live. I am not sure if I want you to live anywhere else, what with Sylar out there somewhere. He is probably going to watch every more you make. So please consider staying with me at my place, okay?" Wade searched her face, hoping that she would consider it.
{ooc - I put the bit in there about him knowing about how her ability was taken by Sylar. Hope that was okay. I guessed that she would have told him since they are so close. If not I can remove it later.}

When Claire had spoken once more about what Sylar had done to her she soon felt Wade wrap his arm around her gently and then he spoke saying that he was glad that she still there but still sorry for what he had done to her. Claire looked up at him and gave him a weak smile, “I know you are Wade.” She replied and thinking back to that day again she was still sick to the stomach as she heard Sylar’s words ringing in her ears once more when he said that ‘she was special’. She still hated being different, even though she had learned to accept it but sometimes she still wished that something would happen and it would just go away.
Once the agents had left them alone and Claire had hugged into Wade she soon felt his arms around her go tighter and it made her feel safe despite being in the White House where the murder of her father had happened. Claire had then spoken to Leroy knowing that it would more than likely be the last time that they would see each other as she would have to leave the White House with no longer being the First Daughter of America. Leroy and Claire had their goodbye moment and then Leroy had asked Wade to take care of Claire. Wade replied saying that he wasn’t to worry as he would and then adding that he loved her too much to let her out of his sight. Leroy gave Wade a warm smile despite the circumstances. “That is a relief to know, you’re a good man, I can tell you that Nathan was impressed with you and he had said to me that he would have been proud to have had you as a son-in-law.” Hearing that got Claire all upset again and the tears began to fall from her eyes once more. It had taken her a while to bond with Nathan after finding out that Sandra and Noah Bennet weren’t her parents but once she had bonded with him she thought that she wouldn’t be losing him for a long time to come. She had wanted him to be able to walk her down the aisle the proud father, now that honour was going to have to fall to Peter if and when it ever happened.
Leroy took Wade’s extended hand and shook it and then she and Wade were making their way out of the White House. She knew that she would have to ask the White House to send her stuff on to her new home when she got one and got settled. Once they were upstairs she felt Wade turn her to face him and he spoke saying that he wanted her to live with him at his place as he wasn’t sure he wanted her to live anywhere else. Claire hadn’t really wanted to live by herself but she hadn’t wanted to take it for granted that she would be moving in with Wade because assumptions could really mess you up when you got them wrong. She really looked at him, still with tears falling from her eyes from what Leroy had last said to Wade about Nathan and slowly nodded her head. She sniffed a few times and wiped at her eyes.
“Okay, okay then. I didn’t really want to live on my own to be fair, but just didn’t want to assume that it would be okay for me to do that. I’d like to do that, at least I know I will feel safe at your house than being on my own.” Claire replied and then knew that she was going to have to think of some sort of career for herself now. She hadn’t needed to work while in the White House with Nathan, as she went with him most of the time for any duties he had and got money through that alone. There had been that brief moment when she was going to go into singing but she realised she didn’t want that kind of lifestyle and then knowing that Wade worked with children she thought that would be good for herself too. When she had been pregnant she had really wanted to have that child and then of course the child was phased out of her, but she was still only nineteen just now, so there was plenty of time to have children, but working with them would be great.
“Wade, you know how you work with children? Well I was thinking I might like to do that too, and well I need something to occupy my time now that I no longer have White House duties to do with, with...” She stumbled slightly finding it difficult to say the word dad, it was still all too fresh on her mind right then, so left it at that as she knew that Wade would know exactly what she had been trying to say to him. “What would I have to do and if it means going to college or something, could we afford it without me earning money until I was qualified?” Claire asked after composing herself slightly as they continued to make their way out of the White House, the sooner she got out of there and back to Wade’s place the better.
