Wednesday 2nd June, 2010 After Danny had confirmed the pregnancy of Francesca Salvatore he had been contacted by a hospital in Texas telling him that they had a gay couple who were in need of his services. Danny wasn’t really one for travelling around but he was the type of person who liked to make dreams come true where children were concerned and if he could help this couple then he knew that he had to get to Texas somehow. Then he thought that he could maybe just move there. He let Dominic Salvatore know that he was moving to Texas and that if he ever needed his services again to contact him and he would either get to Nevada or Dominic could hopefully come to Texas. So Danny had sold up in Nevada and moved to Texas, Houston to be precise for his new job at the Houston General Hospital. Although Danny’s main job was a geneticist he had also studied medicine and when he wasn’t too busy with genetics and the hospitals he worked in needed his medical expertise he usually made himself available to them. This morning was one such morning and he had been more or less rushed off his feet. It was now getting on for midday and Danny was in dire need of a break. After helping with an emergency and diagnosis of a patient he requested his break and it was granted. Usually when Danny goes on a break he just goes to the hospital canteen but after the morning he had had he wanted to actually get out of the hospital and go to a cafe instead. This was like his second working week in the hospital at Houston and every day so far he had just gone to the canteen. He slipped his doctor’s coat off but pinned his identity badge to his jacket, in case anybody needed any medical assistance while he was out, his badge would prove that he was a qualified physician and made his way down the street. He had no idea where the nearest cafe would be nor what it would be like but he continued to walk anyway. Then as he was all about getting ready to give up hope he almost walked passed a cafe. He stopped abruptly and soon saw the blonde that was serving. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her and then realising that he was staring he soon snapped out of it and decided to go in there for the waitress. No, he wasn’t going to go in for the waitress, he was going in for some food. He mentally shook his head at the thought that had just run through his head and opened the door and made his way inside. He walked up to the counter and smiled, “Good afternoon, could I have a full English breakfast please and a cup of tea. I know it’s lunch time, but it would be super if you still did the breakfast, I didn’t have time for one this morning.” Danny asked his British accent very prominent as he waited to find out if it would be too late or not for a breakfast, if it was then he would have to think of something else to have for lunch instead. He stood there and continued to look at the waitress waiting for a response and thinking how prettier she looked now that he was actually more or less right next to her.

In Patricia’s opinion they were short handed. Yes they had all the workers they were meant to, but it was just hitting lunch time, and for some reason her boss Nancy had allowed one of the waitresses to take a break. Without having that fourth waitress there, that meant that Patricia and another of her co-workers were doing two jobs at once. Patricia was serving the tables, while also taking orders when customers arrived. Luckily, for now, it was not really too busy. It had not been all morning though, which may have been why Nancy had let Olivia take her break now.
Patricia was serving a regular his coffee and sandwich, completely unaware that she had gained an observer. She walked back around the counter as the man who had been staring at her approached it. Since she was the closest, she got out her pen and pad, prepared to take his order. “Good afternoon, how may I help you today?” Patricia smiled politely at the man. She listened to his order, nodding when he mentioned that he knew it was lunch time but hoped that they could still do breakfast for him. As the youngest, and only a part-time waitress, it was really not her call to make. Although if it was she probably would give him whatever he wanted. She could not help but notice how attractive he was. She also found herself falling for his British accent for some reason as she had never realised that she could be attracted to one before.
“I will have to just check about that.” She smiled at the man before turning to ask Nancy who was behind her making some drink for another customer. “Nancy, can we still do a full English breakfast?” She asked her boss, who answered without turning to look at her. “Sure, it’s not that much after breakfast anyway.” Turning back around to face the customer, she nodded as she answered him, writing down his order as she spoke. “You are in luck then, one fully English breakfast and a cup of tea will be brought to you soon if you would like to take a seat.” She handed him a number to place on his table, although she was positive she would be able to remember exactly who had ordered the breakfast and tea.
After giving the drink order to Nancy and taking the breakfast order into the kitchen, Patricia returned to serving, taking the drink Nancy had been making when she spoke to her out to the customer who ordered it. Patricia could not help but to look at the man she had just taken the order from, who was now seated at one of the tables. When she went back around the counter she found that Olivia had returned and was now watching her. “See something you like Patty?” Olivia teased as Patricia felt herself blush. “I’m not sure if I should let you take this tea out to him then, we may not get you back.” Nancy joined in, handing her the tea she had just made.
Patricia did not say anything as she took the tea, turning to go take it to the man. She wished they would go back to tormenting each other, instead of tormenting her; even if they had only just started to. When she reached the table the man was sitting at, she hoped that it was not obvious that she had been blushing before. “Here is your tea. I am sure your breakfast will not be too much longer.” She said politely as she placed the cup down in front of him.
Back behind the counter, Patricia impatiently waited for the man’s breakfast to be ready, while avoiding the looks that both Olivia and Nancy were giving her and each other. She wondered if Olivia ever wished the floor would open up and she would fall in when Nancy had teased her about Evelyn, or if it was just her that felt like that. It was not like she liked the man, she just had been looking at him a little. There was nothing wrong with that. Right? After what felt like forever the breakfast was finally ready for her to take out. As she walked away she heard Olivia say something to Nancy about her letting someone have a break, but she had no idea if Olivia was talking about another waitress or if she was asking for another one.
When she placed the plate down on the table for the man she smiled at him again, trying not to notice the fact that both Nancy and Olivia were watching her. “Here is your breakfast. Will there be anything else?” She offered, planning on taking the number she had given him back if he did not want anything else.

When Danny had walked into the cafe with the pretty blonde she soon asked how she could help him and when she smiled he couldn’t help but smile back because to Danny it lit up her whole face and just made her even prettier than he already thought. As he placed his order asking if it wouldn’t be too late for what he wanted the girl soon nodded her head. She then said she would have to check that it would be alright which Danny understood. He nodded his head and gave her a warm smile, “I understand, thank you.” He replied and watched as she turned round to ask someone else who was possibly higher in management in the cafe. He didn’t try to listen in on the conversation just waiting patiently for the girl to let him know what the outcome of it was. The girl soon enough turned back to him and when she told him that he was in luck he gave her a brighter smile. “That’s super, thank you so much, I’ll be sitting toward the back.” Danny answered and after taking the number from her for his order he made his way to a free table toward the back of the cafe.
After a few moments the girl returned with his tea stating that she was sure the breakfast wouldn’t be too much longer. He gave her another smile as she placed the cup down in front of him. “Thank you so much and that’s fine. I’m taking an extended lunch break so I have plenty of time.” He answered and gave her another smile as he put some sugar and then some milk into the tea and lifted up the cup and took a sip right away. It felt so good and he had to sigh gently at the taste as he swallowed. For once the tea tasted how it should, and if the breakfast was as good then he would have to take a mental note to come back here for food, although with the stunning waitress he had a feeling he would be taking a mental note for completely different reasons.
When the girl returned with his breakfast after another few moments she soon asked him if she could get him anything else. He slowly looked up at her and gave her a bright smile, “Well actually now that you mention it, some company might be good, you don’t happen to have a break coming up at all do you?” He asked and glanced back to behind the counter where he could see two older women staring in their direction and the looks on their faces made him think that they were being talked about which was amusing him slightly. He then turned back and tried to see if she had a name badge at all so he could use her name, but he couldn’t seem to see one. “It’s just that I’ve had a hell morning and I think the company of a gorgeous woman is just what I need, of course I’ll be only too happy to get you something to eat or drink for your break.” Danny added and then glanced back toward the counter again and smirked at the older women wondering if one of them would allow for the girl to have a break.
“I’m Danny by the way, otherwise known as Doctor Daniel Watson.” He offered hoping that the girl might actually introduce herself also as it was always good to know the name of the person you might be talking to and it was better to relate to her by name in his thoughts instead of she and her and the girl.

After taking his order, and giving him a number, Patricia watched as the man went to take a seat before giving his drink order to Nancy. She did not usually pay so much attention to the customers, but there was just something about this one. But as long as he did not distract her from her job then she should be fine. She hoped anyway. When Patty took out the tea, despite her co-workers teasing, she had told the man that she was sure the breakfast would not be too much longer. In response he gave her another smile, which only made her smile more in response. "Well, I do hope that it does not take up your whole break. We are usually good with our quick service though." She rambled a little in response to him, before leaving to go back behind the counter.
A few minutes could feel like forever at times; especially when you were waiting for something. Sure Patricia had other things to do, but for some reason she really wanted to serve the man his breakfast. Olivia and Nancy were not helping, she did not care if between them they both practically owned the place, or at least were in charge; they both were annoying with their looks and watching her. It was not her fault she kept looking over at the man, and she was sure there really was nothing wrong with it. After placing his breakfast down for him, Patricia had asked the man if there was anything else she could get him. Smirking at his response, Patricia shook her head as if she was saying no. "I’m not sure that company is on the menu, but I can see if I have a break coming up." She responded, looking back towards Olivia and Nancy who were watching them still, and most likely talking about them too. She had no idea if they would allow it, but considering Nancy had allowed Olivia a break she could not see why she would not be allowed one. Unless it would be more fun and amusing for them both if she was made to continue working.
When the man called her gorgeous she felt her blush from earlier return slightly, causing her to look down at the table. It was not like she had not been told that before, or that she did not agree with it, it just was because this particular man had said it to her. It was not like he was someone who she worked for at her other job who most likely was more just saying that, or worse paid to say that. "I will be back." She said quietly, before returning behind the counter. She did not comment on his offer to get her something to drink or eat, it would be cheaper for her to just get something herself if she was allowed to take a break.
Nancy, of course, was still watching her when she walked back around the counter, while Olivia was taking an order from another customer. It was a good sign, seeing Olivia actually doing her job. That meant whatever she had heard about someone taking a break had not been about Olivia, or Nancy had refused to give her one. That would give her more luck in having one. However Nancy spoke before Patricia could say anything. "I like to keep my workers happy, and treat them fairly so I should probably allow you a break since you have not had one yet." It was an answer, to an unspoken question, causing Patricia to smile. "Thank you." She said, before making herself a coffee, then returning to go join the man again once it was made.
Sitting across from the table she smiled at the man. "You are in luck again, company was on the menu." She listened as he told her his name, and provided his occupation. He is a doctor, so he basically gets paid for doing what my ability does she thought to herself. Since she had no name badge on, since being only a part time waitress she was not important enough to have or need one, she then introduced herself. "I’m Patricia, also known as lots of things depending on who you are." She smirked, thinking about the four nicknames she had had over the years, before continuing. "Most people around here know me as Patty though." She provided her most common nickname, instead of going into them all and explaining who used them. Unlike him, she also did not mention what her job was, although one of them was obvious considering they were sitting in the cafe she worked at, where she had just been serving him. "So, you are a doctor? Specialise in anything?" She asked, although she knew little about different types of doctors. Just more that none ever seemed to be able to help her grandmother - until her.
