July 28th, 2009
It was a bright sunny morning in New York City as Matt began to wake up in his bed, the sunlight peeping through the gaps in his window shades. He let out a big yawn as he got up out of his bed, walking to his closet to get himself dressed. Today was the first day of the rest of his life pretty much, as it was the day he was going to apply to be a paramedic.
The decision had come a couple of days ago, when Matt had taken Emilie to the hospital for a tumour she had developed, nearing death certainly. It was through the guidance of Peter Petrelli that Matt had discovered he could heal others by the use of his blood. This had ultimately led him to decide to use his powers to help people.
He had a couple of sandwiches before he left the house, his brothers already having left to go to work. He locked up and looked around, seeing that no one was particularly paying attention to him. He then burst into a super speed run, dashing and weaving his way through the maze of cars that filled the roads. Within 5 seconds he was at the hospital, stopping in front of it and walking into the main entrance, seeing a couple of people with broken arms and other various injuries.
If only he could use his powers openly... he'd heal all these people with his blood if he could... As he pondered about this, he didn't notice the female paramedic in front of him, accidently bumping into her.

Lexie had a few days off and was just returning to work and she had no clue what was going on but when her alarm went off it said 6:20 AM and when she looked at the alarm it said 6:19 AM. She was kind of confused on why her alarm would do that. However she didn’t think that something would be wrong with her.
She just pushed aside what had happened just an hour ago and decided to just move on with her life. She wanted to get her job finished for the day so then she could spend some time with her new found love: Declan. Lexie wasn’t paying attention as she was thinking of Declan when all of sudden she ran into someone.
She wasn’t paying attention and when she looked up. Lexie didn’t recognize the man she just assumed that he was a visitor of the hospital and nothing else. She gave a warm smile. “Sorry I should watch where I’m going, sir” she said in a polite tone as she was about to make her way to see what her partner was doing.

As Matt bumped into the woman, he had inadvertly made skin contact with her arm, mimicking her power in the process. As he looked up at her, listening to her apology, he simply nodded.
"No, the fault is mine. I should of looked where I was go... What the hell?" Matt said, his expression changing from apologetic to one of confusion. He looked around to see that everyone had stopped. Everyone around him and this woman.
One person nearby who was throwing a paper ball into the bin, staying suspended in the air, as did his paper ball, another person frozen in mid-run. There was no noise... It was dead quiet. He simply looked at the girl.
"What the hell is your power? Did you stop time or something?!" Matt asked, looking at the woman with a confused look, unaware it was actually his doing, not hers.

Lexie had just bumped into this young man and was apologizing. However for some reason she felt as if she made skin contact with the man and had no clue what was going on. She really didn’t expect this day to get any worse however it just seemed as it did.
The guy was apologizing and then quickly changed the subject and she just looked at him with a confusing look wondering what the hell he was talking about and then she looked around and then realized what he was talking about. Everyone was froze.
She began to wonder if she did that and was kind of confused. The man had just randomly said something about a power and yet here she was trying to figure out if the guy was some kind of psycho or something. “Um..no I didn’t” she said in a really confused voice trying to figure out what had just happened.

As Matt looked at the woman, he could see in her facial expression that she too was also confused. Was it that Matt had unawaringly mimicked a power off of someone who wasn't aware of their ability? It didn't matter as time seemed to start again, everyone around moving as though nothing had happened.
"You didn't do anything?" Matt asked, looking back to the woman after seeing that everything around them was back to normal.
"So you just didn't freeze time around us... Or maybe I did... I'm not sure..." Matt said, his face showing signs of confusion. He had usually mimicked powers off of people who could actually help him control them... But this was something else. He decided to tell her the truth about himself, hoping that maybe she could understand what was going on.
"Look, this is gonna sound really weird, but there are people out there with special powers. Mine is that I can mimic the powers of other people. So, have you noticed anything strange that's time related?" He asked, looking at her with a serious face to illustrate that this was no joke.

Alexis wasn’t sure what was going on and she was trying to act calm but the current situation at hand wasn’t really helping at all. The next thing she knew time started to move again. It just seemed a bit odd and she began to wonder if a terrorist was doing this. Then again she was always that paranoid after what happen on 9/11.
She shook her head. “No I didn’t do anything” as she glanced around people were just going back to their lives as if nothing happen. It was strange.
Alexis then looked at the man that was still talking to her. “No I didn’t” she said shaking her head it was rather strange but she was trying to figure out what this man was going at. The next thing she knew this guy was telling her about people with special abilities. Yeah she knew about them. Her cousin was one of them.
“Oh so just like Peter” she replied not sure if the guy really wanted to hear that or not. “And something strange happened this morning, I set my alarm for 6:20 and when I woke up my alarm was going off but it said at 6:19 which was kind of strange…” she then admitted.

When the woman mentioned Matt being like Peter, Matt couldn't help but to smile. She obviously knew Peter since they worked together, but how did she know he was someone like them?
"Well it's good you also know Peter. I met him a few days ago, and he helped me out. Also I'm here so that I too can be a paramedic." Matt said as Lexie then began to explain the alarm clock.
"Wow, that is weird... Maybe you are a time manipulator?" Matt said, looking at her curiously as an idea popped into his head. He rolled up his sleeve, exposing his watch and looked at Lexie, a smile on his face.
"Can you focus on turning back the minute hand?" He asked her, hoping that she could. Time powers were often the most powerful right after Matt's ability type.

Lexie wasn’t stupid as most people thought she was but she knew Peter. She kind of knew about his abilities because she used to work at Primatech. She was Suresh’s secretary and she met Peter through that to be exact. “Yeah, I guess that is a good thing” she said shaking her head. “Well, that is good we could use some more paramedics.”
She then explained what had happened to her this morning it just seemed a bit awkward and she was thinking about going to Primatech. Then Matt suggested that maybe she was a time manipulator. Oh that just sounded wonderful. Lexie looked at him as he placed a smile on his face and then asked her to do something.
Lexie panic for a minute. “No, no I’m not going to do that” she said shaking her head. “I’ll go to the Company…no screw them might get in Level Five…maybe Suresh?” Lexie started to panic and was trying to think with her eyes closed and she didn’t even realize that her ability was in effect and that it moved the minute hand back on Matt’s watch.

Matt watched Lexie panic at the concept of her using her ability on Matt's watch, mentioned something about a Company.
"Company? What the hell is the company?" Matt asked, looking down at his watch as the minute hand suddenly went back a couple of minutes. He looked up at Lexie,her eyes closed and looking as though she was in deep concerntration.
"Hey! You did it! You turned back time on my watch! You are a time manipulator!" Matt said, his face beaming into a smile, before returning to normal as he looked at her.
"So... Wanna tell me what the hell this Company is? And who Suresh is?" Matt asked, looking at her curiously, as he didn't want to read her mind.

Lexie didn’t want to go into full panic but she was just prone too she had no clue what the hell was happening with her and she then had to mention the Company. She hated doing that but she once worked for the Company. It was something she wasn’t proud of but she heard it changed. But she figured she could explain it to Matt.
However at the particular moment in time she was trying to concentrate on something silly as if she were some kind of time manipulator. He opened her eyes when she heard Matt tell her that she did do it and that she was a time manipulator. That was kind of creepy. Oh well another day in the strange life of Alexis Armstrong.
“I heard the Company has changed but I used to work for it and we went after evolved humans and placed most of them who were a danger to society in a facility called level five” she said shaking her head. Not really wanting to explain anything else. “You don’t know who Suresh is?” she asked in a curious voice. “Mohinder Suresh, the son of Chandra Suresh, the author of the book known as Activating Evolution”

"You used to hunt down bad guys? That's so cool." He said, smiling as he listened to Lexie's explaination about the Company. When she asked if Matt knew Suresh, he simply shook his head. When she explained the whole Activating Evolution book and Chandra, Matt simply looked at her with a semi-blank expression.
"I honestly do not know who the hell Suresh is, or what this 'Activating Evolution' book is about. I don't read much." He said, simply shrugging.
"Anyways, you're avoiding the topic! How did you not know you could control time?" Matt asked, looking at her with a smile.

“Yes I used to hunt down bad guys it was kind of fun” she said with a weak smile as she then explained more and was certainly surprised at his blank expression. She then rolled her eyes and took out the book from her bag and headed it to him.
“That’s the book and it documents abilities basically” she said shaking her head. “And as for Suresh he is a nice guy but I heard from people that he has turned into a jackass but that is what happens when dealing with relations with Pakistan and Iran – he went from Geneticist to Secretary of State” she stated knowing well enough that she was avoiding her ability topic.
“Beats me?” Lexie replied shaking her head. “I must say my lovely ability is kind of lame – Time Manipulation I was hoping for something cool like I dunno figuring how things work now that would have been an awesome ability” she said sarcastically.

Matt looked curiously as Lexie reached into her bag, fiddling around as she pulled out a book from her bag, giving it to Matt. The cover said Activating Evolution. He nodded as Lexie began to explain who Suresh was, such as being a Geneticist turned Secretary of State.
"Really? What a massive career change..." Matt said, thinking if this was the same Suresh that Matt Parkman was thinking about.
Matt simply blinked at Lexie saying that her ability was lame.
"Lame? Are you kidding me? You can stop time! That means you can have so much fun with that power! Imagine doing a bunch of paperwork in frozen time, finishing in seconds, when it would take you hours. You probably time travel back to the middle ages! Or even to the future!" Matt said, his eyes lighting up as he explained the possibilities.
"So if you can control time... can you control space as well? Like teleporting or something?" Matt asked, remembering that Emilie had used a similar power to time travel back from her future to this time period.

“Yeah massive career change” she said shaking her head. She really wondered what made Suresh even want to make some kind of career it seemed odd but then everyone at Primatech she knew they were all odd and she was just glad to be away from it. Lexie was grateful for her new job.
Lexie then went on to explain that she thought her newfound ability was kind of lame. She really never expected to control time and yet she was now able too. She really didn’t want too. She didn’t see the benefits of the whole ability anyways. She wanted something cooler.
However her thoughts on her ability began to change when Matt began to explain how cool her ability was. She then started to agree. He had a point it would seem that she could do all of those things.
“Now the controlling space that would be so awesome, but if it is just time then what is the use? Sure I can do paperwork but that just seems lame…” she said shaking her head. She was kind of unsure about the space part of her ability. “And I don’t know I haven’t tired that yet?”

Matt simply nodded as she said she hadn't tried the space aspect of her ability yet. She'd only found out about her ability now after all.
"Ok... I read it somewhere that those who can manipulate time should also manipulate space. It was on a documentary about abilities. Space-Time manipulators can travel through time by folding time... So theoretically, you should be able to teleport by folding space around you." Matt said, looking at her.
This was very confusing, even for him. This power was a rare, yet powerful one. He'd have to work on it more with Emilie at home, since she'd used the power at one point.
"Ok... Let's try something out..." Matt said, looking around and seeing a desk nearby.
"Ok, I'm gonna try to teleport to that desk by concentrating. Theoretically, I should just appear next to it..." Matt said, closing his eyes and focusing on the desk nearby. He focused harder than he had before, scrunching his face tightly and his head shaked a little.
Then he opened his eyes, and instantly his line of sight changed, looking at Lexie from a further view, as opposed to being right next to her. It was too fast for him to comprehend. He simply stepped back in shock, shaking his head at the sudden change of scenario.
"Whoa... That... was something else..." He said, looking at Lexie.
"Looks like that documentary knew it's stuff..." He said with a smile.
