30th October 2009 Stacey slowly stirred in bed, and turned over to look at her alarm clock. She rolled her eyes, and groaned, noticing that it was only seven thirty in the morning. Stacey started to roll back over, when she suddenly realised what she was doing today, and yesterday's events flooded back into her mind. A smile creeped across her face, knowing that now she was in love. David had helped her so much after her breakup with Brendan, and now they were an item. Stacey had never really known her feelings for David, until she had realised his yesterday, and now, her own just bubbled to the surface. So finally Stacey felt that maybe her life was going to get back on track. Stacey decided that she should start making a start on getting ready, even if she wasn't going to meet David till nine o'clock. But the way she was, it was probably going to take a bit of time. Stacey was only twenty-two weeks pregnant, but sometimes she felt that she was much more. She made her way over to the wardrobe, and decided to wear a top that she bought a few weeks ago that she knew that she would eventually have to wear, and today was the day. So once she was dressed, after putting on a pair of maternity jeans, Stacey put on a little bit of make up, and slipped on a pair of ballet flats. She smiled at herself in the mirror, and then headed down to the kitchen for breakfast. Stacey felt like she was starving, even it had only been about nine hours since she ate last. Rummaging through her small fridge, she pulled out a couple of eggs, some bacon, a tomato. Once all of that was prepared, she placed it in the fry pan, and began to cook it up. When it was all done, she dished it up onto a plate, along with a couple of pieces of bread, and sat down. She tried to eat is slowly, but because she was starving, Stacey kind of ate it a bit too fast. Soon enough it was all gone, then the hiccups started. Stacey giggled, trying to hold her breath. That's what I get for eating it too fast, she thought. She made her way over to the sink, and washed up the breakfast things, and then grabbed some orange juice from the fridge, pouring herself a glass. Stacey then made her way into the lounge room, to sit down. Looking at her watch, it was only eight o'clock. She rolled her eyes, as she placed the glass down on the small table near her chair, and sat down in the chair. Stacey then reached over to where her bag was, and grabbed the pregnancy book she had been reading. Stacey only got one paragraph read, when closed it again. She just wasn't concentrating at all. Her minid kept wandering to David, and wanting to see him now, not in an hours time. So to resolve this feeling, Stacey reached for her phone, unlocking it, and began to text David: Hey David. Want to see you now, instead of later. Can you come over? S Stacey sent the text, then locked her phone, placing it back on top of her bag. She then went back to reading the book, hoping that David wouldn't wait to come over.

It was Friday, and it was a day off for David. The good thing about having your own business was you could take any day off you wanted, providing you gave your patients enough warning so they could make alternative appointments with you. However, this particular day off David sort of sprung on himself when he had agreed to go shopping with Stacey to help her get some of the bigger baby items. Of course when he had first suggested it the day before, it was in the mind of him doing it as a good friend, however, that wasn’t the case by the end of Stacey’s appointment with him. He had hidden his feelings for her quite well over the couple of weeks he had felt them growing for her from the first day he had seen her, but yesterday it all came flooding out as Stacey realised what was happening. At first David thought he had lost her forever, but it turned out she had hidden feelings of her own and even took herself by surprise when she ended up kissing him. Now David couldn’t be happier, he had a hot woman to call his own and a child he could look to as his own as well, a family to take care of, something he had wanted for years. He ended up calling all his patients that morning telling them he was sorry to cancel their appointments at the last minute, but something really important in the family had come up and he just couldn’t get out of it. David seldom lied, and in a way this was just a slight stretch of the truth, it was something important in the family, his own personal family, even if it was new. He couldn’t wait to spend the day with Stacey, and spoiling her and ‘their’ baby. He wasn’t rolling in millions or anything, but he wasn’t exactly short on money either. He had an MR2 Toyota convertible car and a two storey house, with at least three bedrooms on the upper floor along with a shower and bathroom and on the lower floor he had another smaller shower room and toilet, kitchen with a dining area, a living room and a conservatory leading out to the patio where he also had an outdoor swimming pool. He knew Stacey had her own place, but he couldn’t help but wonder if she would be happy to move in with him at some point, he had the space after all. That was a conversation for a bit further into their relationship however. He was awake rather early that morning what with having to phone and cancel his patients appointments, so he had at least an hour to go before collecting Stacey, he was now sitting on the sofa, sipping on a coffee and trying to read his book. David didn’t have a particular taste in book, he read plenty of male and female authors, if a synopsis of a book took his fancy then he began to read it, no questions. The book he was reading right now was one of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, they were damn good. He loved the show based on the books, they really captured them well, but as always with books, they were just that little bit better then the show because there was more description and detail. However, he found that he was reading the same line over and over, because he couldn’t get yesterday and Stacey out of his mind. He eventually put the book on the coffee table, this was definitely something good, because nothing ever put him off a good book and Stacey was definitely doing that. He downed the rest of his coffee and lay back on the sofa with a warm smile on his face as he began to think what it would be like with Stacey living there with him. What it would be like having her lay on the sofa with her head on his lap while he held her stomach, talking to the baby, or have her legs on his lap while he massaged her feet. He would do anything for her, he was irrevocably in love with Stacey Potter, he had never felt that way about anybody before. It wasn’t long after these thoughts were going through is head he heard a text come in on his mobile, as he had already set a specific tone to Stacey’s incoming calls and incoming texts, he already knew it was from Stacey before he even flipped his phone open. The soon as he read the text he got a huge grin on his face, so she was feeling the same way as he was. He decided to text her right back. Hi Stacey. I’m going crazy here actually. I’ll be right over. D x So, David jumped up and didn’t even bother with a jacket, the weather was still very warm even for October, well the weather always was better in Nevada and California than some of the other States all year. He put the top down, unlocked the door and made his way in and soon he was on his way to where Stacey lived. It didn’t take him very long, he was outside Stacey’s house within a matter of ten minutes. He guessed he was really desperate to see her. He put one hand on the door, and then hurled himself out of the car without even opening the door, and before ringing her bell, he lifted the letterbox and shouted through, “Hi Stacey, it’s David, do you want me to come in, or are we going out right away?” He then leaned up against the wall next to her apartment door with his arms folded over his chest with a huge smile on his face and waited for her to answer him.

Stacey had only read a mear sentence when her phone told her that she had a message. Just knowing full well that it was David replying, Stacey unlocked her phone, and had to laugh out loud to herself. So it seemed that they were both having the same feeling for each other. Stacey felt that she didn't need to reply to his message, as she knew that he was probably on his way alright. So she locked her phone again, and went back to reading her book.
She knew about what to expect for the twenty-second week: not a lot. It was pretty much the same thing as the week before, so she skimmed it, and then decided to see how she would go for the twenty-third week, just to prepare herself. Maybe it had been the wrong time to read all that. Stacey bit on her bottom lip, as she read about the possibility of feeling Braxton Hicks contractions. Great, she thought, something to look forward to. She just hoped that she wouldn't be alone when they happened. Shaking her head, she turned back a few pages, remembering something that she had read. Then Stacey found it. It had to do with birthing classes. She hadn't gotten around to even looking into that. But she knew she had to, since she was over the halways mark, and it was probably the sensible thing to maybe start attending these classes. Stacey then had to smile to herself, as now she had someone to go with her to them. David.
Stacey closed the book, and put it on the table beside her chair, and then laid back in the chair, and closed her eyes. She was far from tired, but just wanted the time to go faster so that David was here soon. Stacey just thought that, when she heard his voice. She thought she was hearing things, but realised that she wasn't. Stacey got up out of the chair the best way she could with how big her stomach was already, and had to say something, incase he worried that she hadn't heard him. "I'm coming. You can come in first, then we can go." Stacey reached the door, and quickly opened it.
There he was, just standing there, with his arms folded across his chest, with a massive grin on his face. "Hey David. Come in. Mind any mess there is." When he finally came in, Stacey instantly stopped, wrapped her arms around his neck, and gave him the warmest kiss. When she pulled away, all Stacey could do was smile, then wipe off the lipgloss that was on his lips. "How are you? Sorry about the text, but I just had to see you." Without hesitating, Stacey went in for another kiss. After a few second, she pulled away, smiling. "Sorry. Must be the hormones or something. But I like them right now."
Stacey pulled away, and then went to get her bag. "I was thinking that we go and grab a drink, then hit the store. If that is okay. It won't be open till nine o'clock, so we have about forty minutes till they open." Stacey stood and waited for David's reply, as she gently rubbed at her stomack, still thinking about what she read earlier.

{ooc - this should have been replied to ages ago as this is one of my top threads, sorry Mel}
After Stacey had sent the text to David it hadn’t taken him long to get into his car and make his way over to her apartment. Even though it had only been a day, not even a day, a night, he had been going crazy without her. Every single thought running through his head was about Stacey. He hadn’t been able to concentrate on reading his book last night and he hadn’t been able to concentrate on reading it now. He was soon at her apartment door and shouting through her letterbox wondering if she wanted him to come in or did she just want to go. So he had stood up against the wall next to her apartment door and waited for Stacey to answer or open the door. Soon he heard her voice, and she was telling him she was on her way and he could come in first and then they could go. “That suits me Stacey.” Then the door was opened, and so he leaned up from the wall, keeping his eyes on her, and noticing she was just as beautiful today as she was the day before.
“Don’t worry about the mess; I’m here to see you.” He shook his head and grinned at her, besides she had better things to worry about than making sure her apartment was tidy, and taking a quick look around, it actually didn’t look that bad, he’d been in apartments which were much worse than this. David stepped inside and he was about to speak to her, but Stacey stopped and wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. It was a nice warm kiss and David wasn’t about to stop her from doing so, in fact, he actually kissed her back, enjoying the moment. When she pulled away, he saw that smile of hers, which just lit up her face, he smiled back, and then she asked how he was and apologising for the text but she just had to see him. He went to say something, but she kissed him again.
David kissed her back again, warm and passionate, but without any hunger as such, then Stacey pulled away from him again, she apologised blaming her hormones but mentioned she liked them right now. Well, if that’s what they were doing to her, then he didn’t like them at all, he loved them. “Alright, firstly, no need to apologise for the text, and that was quite a welcome, that you must learn to do more often in the future, so take note of it.” David grinned at her after saying that, and then he continued, “ Secondly, there is definitely no need for apologising about kissing me, it’s not as if I hate it, in fact, I think I can safely say I will be loving your hormones if that’s what they are doing to you.” He then pulled her toward him, and leaned in to kiss her again, this time with a bit more passion than before. Well, he had been missing her all night, so he was going to make up for it somehow.
This time David pulled away and watched her collect her bag, then she suggested going for a drink before hitting the shops, as they won’t open until nine o’clock and they still had forty minutes to spare. “Sounds good to me honey, did you have any place in particular in mind? Or just the first place we happen to see?” He then watched Stacey gently rub at her stomach, David’s natural instincts kicked right in as he immediately went to her, gently putting his hand on her stomach, “Everything alright Stacey?” It was almost as if he had a bond with her unborn child already, even though he was classing it as his own yesterday, technically it still wasn’t his child, and yet he had this bond, so seeing her rub her stomach like that automatically sent him into worrier mode about Stacey and the baby, their baby.

Stacey gave him a kind of grin then, when he commented about the mess that she told him to mind on the way in. She just thought that in case there was any, she was best to warn him. The thought of the session that she mentioned about sitting and eating almost everything that she had bought that day at the shop. Wrappers and all that were everywhere on the floor and in the lounge room. It was quite a sight.
Stacey had then kissed David. It felt nice, and she felt him kiss her back, which made her heart flutter abit. She had then apologised for sending the text, then went and kissed him again. Stacey knew she hadn't let him get a word in at all, but just had to kiss him. She felt the passion behind his kiss, and wrapped her arms around his neck more firmly, just loving the moment more and more. After she parted from him, she apologised, blaming her hormones, actually liking them at the moment. She had to smile, when David went through the two things she had apologised for.
Stacey nodded, and then grinned, when he mentioned about the texting thing. "Will have to remember that one." At least she could do that now without feeling guilty. But this morning she just had to do it, or she would have been sitting there thinking about texting or not texting for an hour, and that wouldn't have been healthy at all. Then when David mentioned the fact that he will be loving her hormones if that's what they are doing to her, Stacey smiled warmly at him, then rested her head on his chest. "Good, because I am unsure of how long this part will stay this way. That is something that I will have to read up on actually." She so needed to get passed to the third trimester to just see what she was in for. And really it was practically around the corner in like a month or so.
Stacey then felt David pull her in, and leaned it to kiss her. She felt like she was losing herself in the kiss so much. Stacey felt like her life was getting back on track now, with a person who seemed to genuinely care for her. She felt like on cloud nine, even with the hormones carrying on the way they were. First they were like all over the place, getting upset over the silliest thing. Now they were driving her towards the whole love side, where she really wanted to do more than kiss. It felt good, don't get her wrong, but now she was like having urges, and Stacey had no idea if that was what she wanted or not. But it felt right in her head anyway.
After David pulled away, Stacey retrieved her bag, and spoke about how long they had till the store opened. David commented about if she had any place in particular in mind. At that point, Stacey had begun to rub her stomach, thinking about what she had read. Her eyes kind of opened a bit wider, hearing the concern in David's voice. She looked down at his hand, then looked at him. Stacey put her other hand over his own. "No. Everything is fine. I was just thinking... No, it's nothing. Let's go, okay?" Stacey didn't want to worry him about her thoughts. It wasn't that important, just yet anyway. But maybe it was.
Stacey had begun to walk towards the door, but then stopped. "It's just that I kind of skipped to read about what would start happening next week in my twenty-third week of pregnancy, and I kind of stumbled on something that I didn't know about, that's all. Something about feeling Braxton Hicks contractions." Now she had put it out for him to hear, now she wondered what he might say. Stacey she knew that she was silly for worrying, but really this was her first baby, so she had no idea what to expect, and that was one thing she had no idea about. She had no idea how it would all feel.

David really couldn’t have given a damn about whether her apartment was messy or not, the only thing he gave a damn about was being there with her right now. He had been going crazy before she had sent that text. He was there within minutes; she should have known the last thing on his mind was any mess there might happen to be. He couldn’t stop smiling at her, it might still be all new for them, but David knew more today than yesterday his feelings were true, because they had only grown more the minute he saw her when she opened that door.
Then he had finally managed to get a word in between the kissing, not that the kissing was bothering him, he was kissing a woman he loved, why would that bother him? He had told her she didn’t have to apologise for the text, and she could welcome him like that in the future and she was to take a note of it. Well, which guy wouldn’t love a welcome from their girlfriend like that? The little affectionate things were one of the best things about being in a loving relationship, not just the sex, although that was pretty special as well. “Yes, make sure you do remember it.” Well it would be a bit of a letdown if he arrived on her doorstep another day and he didn’t get that kind of welcome. He would be expecting it all the time now.
David had then gone on to say he loved her hormones if they were making her so affectionate, and he soon felt her head on his chest. David kept one arm wrapped around her, and placed the other one on her head as he hugged her to him, enjoying the moment. “Well, I hope it lasts the whole time, in fact, I hope it lasts after the baby is born as well, because you could never give me too much love and affection, I just want you to understand that Stacey.” He was grinning, not that she would see it, what with her head on his chest, but he didn’t really care.
David had then chosen that moment to pull her in and began to kiss her again, well if she was allowed to kiss him twice, then he was allowed to get one in of his own. David put a lot of passion behind it, and he could feel they were both losing themselves in the kiss, it was magical. Then everything about Stacey was magical, he had known that from the day she had walked into his office. David had then asked Stacey if there was anywhere in particular she wanted to go as she got her bag, however he didn’t get an answer from her, as the next moment he had seen her rub her stomach, which led to David asking in a very worried voice if everything was alright. So she answered that question instead.
He soon felt her hand over his own which he had placed on her stomach without even thinking, she looked at him and told him there was nothing wrong. Then began to say something else but trailed off telling them they were to go. David shook his head slightly. “Stacey, come on, this is me, you can’t pretend everything is alright with me, when it clearly isn’t. I’m not a therapist for nothing you know.” He added those last words in with a bit of lightness to his voice, but he was still very worried about her. He watched as she began to head toward the door, but he probably wouldn’t have let her leave until she had told him what was on her mind, but then she spoke, and he let out a small sigh of relief. Once he found out what was on her mind, he relaxed a little, it could be annoying for a pregnant woman, he had even heard and read that it could sometimes be painful depending on the woman, but they weren’t serious.
“Most pregnant women can take them from time to time as far as I’m aware. They’re false labour pains, usually not as severe as real labour. I wouldn’t worry about them too much Stacey, we’ll just take our time, there’s no hurry and if you happen to feel anything come over, we’ll go rest for a while, alright? I’ll take care of you, I’ll be here, and I promise not to leave your side unless you need to go the ladies room, because then I might get some strange looks.” David chuckled a little then, and touched her nose with his fingertip. “I was scared it might have been something more serious, as I’ve already been there with you during a session, I don’t want to be some sort of jinx to you.” He laughed then, and took her hand, “Well, are we going? You can pick any place you want to for that drink.”
Once Stacey opened the door and let them out and locked it again, he took her hand again and walked her down to his Convertible. He loved living in the State of Nevada the weather was always good, even for this time of year. Once he reached the car, he pressed the button to release the alarm, and then opened the passenger door for Stacey, once she was inside, he gently closed it, and then he quickly ran round to his side and soon he had the engine started, he turned to face her before he drove off, “It’s probably only going to take me about five minutes to get into the city center, so the soon as you know where you want to go for that drink let me know and I’ll park the car and we’ll be on our way.”
He then put his foot down and off he went, as he drove, with his one arm on the open window, he decided to say something which probably going to the corniest thing he had ever said to a female before, but he knew he was going to mean every single word, “I need to say something, as I didn’t get much of a chance when I arrived.” He chuckled then, before continuing, “When I saw you open the door I just thought to myself you looked even more beautiful then you did yesterday, and yet I know if I were to see you again tomorrow, you’ll be more beautiful tomorrow than you are today.” David was a bit of a hopeless romantic, he had just never had that special woman to be that way with, now he did.

"Okay, will have to remember all that." Stacey had to laugh a little then, but then had a thought. "What happens when one day I answer the door in tears, even though it is the hormones and moodswings sending me in a rage? Huh?" She smiled, but wondered. Stacey hadn't had a bad moodswing in a while, but it would come up if she couldn't do something, or if something wasn't right.
It felt so nice to just embrace David, and just be there, standing in that hug. She giggled slightly at his response. Stacey knew that she would have enough love for both the baby and for David at the same time, or she hoped she would anyway. She smiled into his chest, "Another thing that I will have to definately remember. But I might not have to, as I can see it coming naturally to me after a while."
Stacey knew she had to tell him what she had been thinking, and maybe it was a good thing she told him. It would make her stop worrying about it all day, and not enjoy the shopping spree. She had been looking forward to it since yesterday, so nothing should be stopping her now from enjoying it. Stacey knew that her saying that it was nothing, as she headed towards the door, would prompt him to say something. She should have known better than to say any of that to a therapist, especially one as good as David. So after that she told him what was wrong.
She waited for him to respond, and Stacey listened as he spoke. So it was making a bit more sense. If only she had read more, and not just stopped at the name of them, then she wouldn't feel so stupid right now. Stacey nodded a little, letting her hand rest on her stomach. "Okay." She smiled, thinking about what he said in regards to being by her side unless she had to go the ladies room. "And yes, you might get strange looks." Stacey was glad that David spoke about the false labour pains, and it made her wonder if and when she might get them, if at all.
"Thanks David for explaining it. Just with this one being my first baby, I have had to take in so much information. Oh and another thing, will have to seriously think about booking in for those classes as well, so that I am more prepared, you know? My next appointment isn't for another two weeks, but it might be an idea to maybe go to the hospital and see if there is any vacancies in the classes today. I don't want to be the only one who has no idea what to do when the baby comes, even though I am sure you know a lot about it... maybe." Stacey smiled, then raised her eyebrows, wondering if he did or not. Then he touched her nose, speaking more. "Well I don't know if there will be anymore of those times yet, still a while to go till the baby is born, so you might just have to think quick if anything else happens."
David had then taken her hand, asking if they were going, and that she could pick any place to go for a drink. "Okay. And yes, let's go." Stacey picked up her keys off the table, and opened the door, to let them both out. She then locked the door behind them, and soon they were walking hand in hand out to David's car. Stacey should have recognised it from the day that he took her to the hospital, and when he picked her up the next day after that. The sun was out, and Stacey was glad that she had worn her top, it was quite warm out, which suited her fine.
They soon reached his car, and David opened the door for her, letting Stacey into the passenger side. After he closed the door, Stacey reached for the seatbelt, putting it around her as comfortable as possible, and waited for David to get in. Once in, she heard the engine start up, and then he told her that it was going to take him five minutes to get into the city, and to let him know where she wanted to go for that drink. "Okay. I will tell you, but don't really know of any good places, unless you do?"
And soon David was driving them in the direction of the city. Stacey just made herself as comfortable as she could in the passenger seat. It was just nice being with him, even though they weren't saying much. But then David spoke, and she turned to listen to him. Stacey rested her head back in the seat, looking and smiling at him. "Well it can all be put down to being pregnant I say. Apparently you are meant to be glowing or something. But I do feel really good right now." Stacey put a hand on David's arm, "And thanks." She then turned to face the road again, and closed her eyes for a brief second. Stacey couldn't wait to spend this time with David, even if it was too look at baby stuff.
Just then Stacey's phone rang. David was already with her, so it couldn't be him. Maybe it was the hospital, thought Stacey. Great, they found something wrong with me. She pressed the button to answer the phone. "Hello?" A woman spoke on the other end of the phone. "Is this Anastacia Potter?" "Yes it is." "Hi Anastacia, this is Megan from the newspaper. I just wanted to let you know that you have gotten the position with us." Stacey put her hand up to her mouth, totally shocked. "Oh, thank you so much." Megan then told her that there was a couple of articles that needed to be written if she was interested, and if she could come in sometime today, that would be great. "That should be fine. How about this afternoon?" "That should be fine Anastacia. It will only take about half an hour. We will see you then. Goodbye." "Bye," Stacey said before she hung up.
"I can't believe it. I got the job for that newspaper. And they want me to come in this afternoon to get the articles that they want me to write." Stacey was grinning from ear to ear, just so happy about it all. "I can't wait to start." She then spotted a small coffee shop up ahead. "How about we stop there," Stacey said, pointing.

When Stacey asked him what would happen when she answered the door one day in tears even though it was the hormones sending her into a rage, David just gave her a reassuring smile, and held her hand in his own, “Well that’s easy. I would just wrap you in my arms and tell you to let it all out. If your boyfriend can’t be there for you taking the bad with the good, then who can?” He knew she was trying to get to him with that a little because he was going on about loving her emotions. It wouldn’t bother him what kind of emotions came from Stacey, he would be there, and he would love them no matter what, because he loved her. “We’ll cross the bridge when we come to it Stacey, I’m a therapist, don’t you think I haven’t had my share of people breaking down on me? Crying their eyes out, beating my chest with their fists? I have, and I always deal with it. To be honest, you probably couldn’t have a better boyfriend to act that way with if it were to happen.” He gave her a cheeky smile then. But what he had said was true; you take the bad with the good. If you’re willing to become a part of a pregnant woman’s life, then you had to deal with the consequences which may or may not come with it.
As they hugged in their embrace David had told Stacey she could never give him too much love and affection, he had to smile when she replied. “I’m glad you will try to remember, but it would be even nicer if it came naturally, I’m sure my daily dose of affection toward you will help it to come in return naturally.” He chuckled a little, and hugged her closer to him again.
David was glad Stacey decided to tell him what was on her mind, because she would never be able to fool him like that, he had been around enough people to know when they were hiding things from him or not. Once he knew what the problem was he told her more about it and also added that it really wasn’t anything too serious, but he would be there by her side the whole time, apart from if she had to go to the ladies naturally saying he might get strange looks. He had to chuckle when she agreed. He loved Stacey so much, loved being with her, he had already been through a rough time with her on her first session, so really he was pretty sure he could say he loved everything about her, the bad as well as the good. Now that he had her, he was going to make sure he would never lose her.
Stacey then thanked him for explaining it to her, and spoke some more about going to the hospital and making an appointment for some classes. When Stacey then said she didn’t want to be the only one who had no idea what to do when the baby came and she was sure he knew a lot about it, maybe. He gave her a warm smile, “I know the basics Stacey, having to help my mum raise my baby twin sisters has certainly helped to a degree, but I would like very much to go to these classes with you if you will let me, I would like to know more about it all myself.” He just felt if he was going to be with Stacey, he should be with her completely, she shouldn’t have to attend those classes by herself, not if she didn’t have to, and she didn’t, not when he was in her life now. He had then mentioned the unfortunate moment at her first session and said he was glad that nothing serious was wrong as he didn’t want to be a jinx to her. When Stacey replied, David smiled reassuringly at her, “Don’t worry Stacey, you know I will be there to help should anything like that happen again, I do my best not to let people down, it’s a part of my nature.”
Soon they were on their way into town, and David had told Stacey to choose a place she liked for them to have their drink because he knew he would get them into the center within about five minutes. He had a fast car although he always drove within the speed limits, but the power behind the steering meant his car got him places quicker than a lot of other cars would. Stacey then said she would tell him, but didn’t know of any good places unless he did. “I only know of one place I would recommend and that’s a cafe called The Carousel, but we don’t have to go there.” They could go there anytime they liked as far as David was concerned.
David had then got a bit corny with Stacey and told her she was looking more beautiful today than the day before and yet he knew if he saw the next day she’d be more beautiful than today. Stacey replied saying it could all be put down to the pregnancy and mentioned the whole glow thing. David chuckled slightly, “I know about the whole glow thing, heard people say that about my mom often, but no, it’s not just that Stacey, I know I would say the same thing even if you weren’t pregnant, trust me.” However, he felt Stacey put a hand on his arm and thank him, “You’re welcome, but you don’t really have to thank me for compliments, it’s my job as your loving and caring boyfriend.” He winked at her and then turned back to the road.
Not long after that Stacey’s phone rang, he knew it was her phone, because David always switched his phone to vibrate when driving, so it didn’t distract him. He didn’t want to listen in on the conversation, but it was a bit difficult not to when she was sitting right next to him. He could tell from her reaction it was good news, but he wasn’t going to pry, their relationship was still fairly new, if she wanted to tell she would. And soon enough when her call was finished, Stacey told him what it was about. He was genuinely happy for Stacey, he turned to her quickly and gave her a huge grin, “That’s wonderful Stacey, but just remember what I said before, don’t overdo things, but I can’t see that kind of job being too hectic anyway.” He wasn’t saying it to be bad or a spoilsport of anything, he was saying it because he cared and didn’t want her exhausting herself, she was quite far on in her pregnancy, besides if it was to get herself a better apartment, then she might not need that, when he asked her to move in with him, he just wasn’t sure when the moment for that would be right.
Stacey then pointed to a place and asked about stopping to go there. David turned in the direction of where she was pointing, “Sounds good to me Stacey, we’ll go there.” David then headed toward the nearest car park to the place she had pointed out and soon he had them parked up, and just as he had said before, he had gotten them there in just over five minutes. Once he stopped the engine and stepped out the car, he immediately went round to Stacey’s side and opened the door and held his hand out for her to take to help her out. He then closed the door, and locked it and switched his alarm on. With the same hand holding her own, he then walked her over to the place she had pointed out.
He then held the door open for her; once she was inside he found them a table. “You sit down and I’ll go and order, what would you like?” When she had answered him he went to the counter and put their orders in, he chose a latte and a blueberry muffin for himself, he handed over the money and pointed to the table they were sitting at and then made his way back over to the table he had left Stacey at. “So, I now know you want to go to the hospital to check about classes and you have to go to this place to pick up your articles for this new job you got, we can fit that in when you’re ready for it, but in the manner of shopping, where do you want to go first? Or more to the point, what items do you want to get first?” David had brought his cheque book out with him, he had told her yesterday this shopping trip was going to be his treat and she wasn’t to say no, so he hoped she wouldn’t when he began to write out cheque after cheque, he quite simply couldn’t do enough for her and he hoped she knew that.

All Stacey could do was grin at David, after he answered her question. It had just popped into her head, and she knew that how she was a while ago, all emotional over not being able to eat a stupid piece of meat that she loved. Thinking about it now, it was just stupid, but at the time she was very determined. David had taken her hand, as she answered. "Well, David, I think that is the answer I was after. And yes, let's cross that bridge when we have to. With handling me the first time I was your patient, I think you handled me pretty well, despite the tears. And that little incident of me having to go to the hospital, you went above and beyond." She grinned back at him, just knowing that she was going to love him so much.
Just being in that embrace with David was nice, and she smiled when he commented more about the love and affection stuff. "I will be sure to reciprocate anything you give me, don't you worry." As he hugged her close to him, she tightened her arms around him. It felt nice to be close to a guy again, what had seemed like an eternity since she had done this with a man. Well, she was hugging him as much as she could, what with her stomach the size it was already.
After Stacey had mentioned about booking in for the classes at the hospital, she listened to what David said. She had to smile, when he mentioned that he wanted to go to the classes with her if she let him. "Well since they think that you are already the father of the baby, might as well attend the classes. They might start asking questions." Stacey giggled then, giving David's arm a bit of a gentle squeeze. "And since you are with me, you might as well know what you are in for, what with the labour, and everything during that. I want to be prepared for that part extremely." She was just over the halfway point, and was starting to realise the bigger picture now of what was to come. The classes hopefully would prepare her a bit better.
As they drove on wards, David had asked her to point out a place for them to have a drink at first, but she said would, but didn't know if he knew of a place. David did mention one, but said they didn't have to go there. "Okay. Well, I will point one out when I see one that might be okay." Then David had basically complimented on the way she had looked this morning. Stacey being her normal self, had thanked him for saying that, leading to David saying that she didn't have to thank him, it was his job to say those things as her boyfriend. "Okay. I suppose this is the part where I have to agree to not thank you then, when you give me more?" She smiled, then looked forward again.
Stacey couldn't believe her luck in getting the job for that newspaper. She knew it was only small articles for now that she would have to write, but it was better than nothing. Stacey had been sitting at home, either watching tv, or just eating herself silly over the past few weeks, and it was getting to a point that she was either going to go insane with boredom, or just get the size of a house. Neither of those outcomes had really stuck out for her, so the job thing was the next step in getting her life back on track, which she was now grateful for. Stacey finally told David what the good news was, and he had seemed happy about it, though did reminder of what he said yesterday. She rolled her eyes cheekily, "I know. I haven't forgotten at all. But as you said it won't get too hectic. It is really only a small job role, which is what I want and need right now, to keep me busy." Plus the money is needed as well, thought Stacey.
They soon parked, and headed towards the cafe that Stacey had pointed out, hand in hand. Once they were inside, David found a table for them to sit at. He then told her to go and sit down and he would order, asking her what she wanted. She knew instantly what she wanted. "I will have a glass of coke and..." Stacey looked into the glass cabinet that held what they had to offer in the way of cakes and slices. Pointing out one that she knew she had to have, Stacey added, "I will have one of the peanut butter slices." Ever since a few weeks ago, she had been having cravings for peanut butter, so it was only fitting for her to have that for a snack, even though she had only had breakfast like an hour ago.
So once she told David what she wanted, Stacey made her way over to the table, and sat down, waiting for her small snack. When David mentioned the things she wanted, or had to do, she nodded. Then he mentioned about the baby shopping, and what she wanted to get. "Well really, I need or want to get the bigger stuff like the crib, pram, a bassinet, and maybe a baby's bath. I don't have a proper bath in my apartment, just a shower. But then the smaller stuff, like clothes, bibs, nappies. The list just keeps on going. It is going to cost a small fortune before this little one is even born." Stacey rubbed her stomach, and smiled at David. "I know that you are willing to help, despite the baby not being yours, but I want to help pay for stuff as well okay. Mabye not today, but other days when we go and buy more stuff, okay?" Stacey put her hand over his own, and grinned. "I'm really glad that you are here today with me. Not sure if I would be able to do any of this on my own."

David felt as if Stacey had given him a slight test with asking him how he would react if she opened the door in floods of tears, but test or no test, David was completely honest and upfront with her and what he had said he would do was the absolute truth. He knew how hormones could affect a woman, he was old enough to understand it and watch his mom go through it when she was pregnant with his twin sisters. David chuckled slightly, “I’m glad I stepped up to the answer you were looking for.” But of course he had said they should cross that bridge when they come to it, and Stacey agreed also adding in that he handled her pretty well at her first session and had gone above and beyond when he had taken her to hospital. “Maybe, but I wouldn’t have been a very good therapist if I’d just walked out of my office and left you there, now would I?” He shook his head, still with his arms around Stacey, “No, it just wasn’t something I could do. Even from that first day I knew there was something special about you.” He gave her a warm smile then.
David gave Stacey a warm smile when she said she would be sure to reciprocate any love and affection he gave her. It was nice to hear her say that, and as they remained in the embrace, David knew this was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, he would never let her go, and it was fairly obvious to him, that Brendan didn’t know how wonderful a woman he had thrown out of his life. Well, his loss was David’s gain, and that was all that mattered to him. When he felt Stacey tighten her arms around him, he pulled her toward him again gently. “I look forward to that then.” David hadn’t been in a lot of relationships what with not having the time helping his mom raise his twin sisters, but he had fallen deep for Stacey, who was pretty much the first woman to come into his life who was single and he had taken an instant liking to, infatuation almost and he wasn’t about to look back.
When David asked if he could attend the classes with her, he couldn’t help but grin at her response, what she said did make a lot of sense, given that he had told the hospital he was the father of the baby the day Stacey ran into trouble. However, he hadn’t wanted to take it for granted that it would be alright to just assume she’d allow him to go, so done the decent thing and asked. “Well, that thought did cross my mind, but I still thought I should ask. Attending those classes with you, it will make it feel like the baby is actually mine.” David then wondered if he and Stacey would have any of their own, and if Stacey would maybe worry that if they did, he would then treat his own better, because technically this one wouldn’t be his, but David didn’t work like that. He would never do that, if he was going to go through all of this with Stacey from this point on, then he would be that baby’s daddy, no matter what. He decided to say something about that, “I also just want you to know that if we were to ever have any of our own, one day, that I wouldn’t treat my own any differently, because as far as I’m concerned...” He trailed off and rested his hand on Stacey’s stomach, “...this one will be mine as well.” He just felt he had to say that, after what he said about attending the classes would make him feel as if this baby was his.
When Stacey then added that he might as well know what he is going to be in for what with the labour and everything, David smiled. “Well, I already have a fair idea, I was in the house when my mom went into labour, I was a good bit younger then granted, but I have a fair idea, but it will still be nice to go with you, more importantly, you will have someone with you during the tough times.” David couldn’t bear to think of Stacey having to go through all of that alone. When he thought back to when she first came into his office, and how much she had changed from those first few moments until now, there was no way he could imagine her going through it alone, and now she wouldn’t, he would be there for her from this point onward.
When Stacey agreed she would point out somewhere she thought might be okay, David smiled at her, he would rather go somewhere she wanted to go, than a place he had mentioned, especially when he could take her to The Carousel anytime he wanted to. David had then complimented her, and Stacey had thanked him, which he had said there was no need for thanks, it was his job as her boyfriend to compliment her. However when Stacey spoke again asking him if this was the point where he was going to ask her to agree not to thank him anymore when he gave her more compliments. David took his eyes off the road for a few seconds to quickly turn to her, “What made you say that?” Then he realised that was a stupid question to ask, no doubt Brendan was very much like that, “I’m not him you know. You have to remember that. If you want to keep thanking me for complimenting you then who am I stop you, all I’m saying is it isn’t needed, but if you want to thank me, then you go right ahead. I’m not the type to keep going on about something, I ask once, and if they rather do the opposite, then fine.” He briefly turned to face her again and gave her a reassuring smile. It did make him wonder how many other things she was going to wonder if he was going to say or do, that would remind her of how this Brendan had reacted, but David wasn’t him and he never would be, hopefully Stacey would realise that soon enough.
Stacey had then gotten that phone call which told her she had got the job she had applied for, David was happy for her, because he knew how much it meant to her. His only thing against it was that she shouldn’t push herself too much because of her recent hospital trip, but at the same time, David wasn’t the type to stand in the way of people’s dreams and if that’s what she wanted, then who was he to stop her? “Well, I don’t think it will be too hectic, especially if you can work from home, just so long as you make sure you take a break if you think there’s anything wrong at all.” He took one hand off the steering wheel and gave her arm a slight reassuring squeeze, “I’m just caring about you, that’s all.” He certainly didn’t want her to think he was some jackass who was going to be on her back about doing this and that the whole time, just because he had some medical knowledge, because he wouldn’t.
Once they were inside the cafe David had got them a table and then asked Stacey what she would like, he smiled as she told him. “Alright, I’ll be back in a minute.” David went off and placed the order for the both of them, paid and made his way back to their table after pointing out where they were sitting. When he got back he asked Stacey where she wanted to go first in regards to shopping, or what items did she need to get first. He listened to her as she spoke, nodding his head in several places, “Alright, well let’s get the bigger stuff today then, as I’m here to help carry it and I can put the back seat down in the car for it to carry everything alright back to your apartment.” However, he sounded a little sad as he said that, as he would much rather have Stacey move in with him, where he could keep an eye on her, but he had no idea how she would feel about that, as their relationship was still really new. When Stacey said it was going to cost a fortune before the baby was even born, David leaned over and took one of her hands in his own, “Well, you can at least let me share the burden of the cost now.” He would have bought everything for her, but he could tell Stacey wasn’t the type of woman to allow him to do that, besides it was only natural Stacey would want to get some things by herself; she was the baby’s mother after all.
“Alright, I can’t argue with that. I said today would be my treat, and I really want to pay for the bigger things, because I do feel you would struggle on your own to get those, so I agree, I will pay for the big items we get today, and everything else we’ll share the cost is that acceptable? Of course, there might be the odd thing you’ll want to get on your own, and if I’m allowed, maybe I could buy the odd thing?” David didn’t want to push it, but in his eyes, Stacey’s baby was now as much his as it was hers, he was taking them both on, and he wanted to do as much as he could for both of them. When Stacey said she was really glad he was with her today and that she didn’t think she would be able to do it alone, David smiled warmly at her, “You’re welcome, and I really wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.” Just then the waitress arrived and placed the tray in the middle of the table, David thanked the waitress, and then handed over Stacey her drink and peanut butter slice, and he took his own.
“Well, here’s to a great day together Stacey and I am so glad you sent me that text, I would be going out of my mind by now.”

Stacey smiled when David said that he was glad that he basically gave her the answer she was after. But really, what else could he say. David seemed to know her pretty well by now, what with all that she had shared in their sessions together, and now about to share each other's life with one another. David then added, saying 'maybe', after Stacey had commented on how he had handled her in that first session. But after he added more, Stacey nodded, agreeing with him. "Yes, well that wouldn't have been very good on your part, leaving a patient to suffer." But really, David was always looking out for her, and that first meeting was one she would never forget as long as she lived.
When David said that it just wasn't something that he could do, and that he knew from day that one there was something special about her. That made Stacey blush, and look down at her feet, that she was able to see still. What could she say to that. She didn't know about David's feelings till yesterday, and now just hearing that he had thought that there was something special about her from the first day, made her wonder what she had done to deserve a guy like this. Stacey slowly looked up at him, and tried to grin at him, but felt a few tears sting in her eyes. There really was no words for how she was feeling right then.
Stacey nodded, when David mentioned about attending the classes. She swallowed a little, when he said that attending that classes would make him feel like that the baby was his. Well, no one was really claiming as their own, apart from Stacey. The real father would have no idea that the baby was theirs, and Brendan didn't want it, so why not make David the father, even though they were only officially a couple today. "I am glad that you want to be a part of this baby's life, David. No one else really wants it, apart from me, so it would be good to have someone who could be the father." Stacey was feeling a bit better, knowing that David wanted to be a part of the baby's life more and more now. She knew how he was, and he had been so helpful and caring towards her, and Stacey just knew that he would be the same towards the baby.
David then made a comment, which made her smile at him warmly, and just feel more love for him then ever before. Just feeling his hand on her stomach, saying all of those things, made her feel loved, more than she had in a while. Stacey put her hand over David's and sighed a little. "Well, I can see the baby ending up being yours in a way, if that is how you feel. I didn't think I was ready to have this baby, when I thought it was Brendan's. But knowing now that there is going to be a lot of love for this little one, I can see me having at least another one. Especially if you are with them for a while, or for a long time yet." Stacey wondered if she would settle down with David. She had thought that with Brendan, but look how they ended up. Stacey knew that her parents were still going with their marriage, as far as she was aware, as she hadn't spoken to them in a few years. And who knew where her sister was right now. So really, she couldn't compare what her future relationship would be like, until it progressed.
Stacey nodded, when David spoke about having a fair idea about the whole labour thing, what with being there with him mum, when she went through it. Just hearing about him being there for the tough times, made her wonder and panic a little about what was going to happen when she finally went into labour. Stacey bit on her bottom lip, and just looked David, expressionless. "Maybe it is a good thing going to these classes then."
Stacey hadn't meant to comment like she did about the complimenting and thanking him for them. But she just had the instinct to say that, after Brendan telling her that she didn't have to thank him all the time. Stacey didn't know what to say, when David asked her what made her say that. What could she say in reply? But before she could answer him, it seemed that David had figured it out. As he spoke, Stacey nodded, occassionally glancing in David's direction. "Okay. It was just an impulse thing that I said. And yes, it came out because of my last relationship. You basically hit it on the head." Stacey was never one to forget anything, and some of what she went through with Brendan would always stay with her unfortunately.
Stacey smiled at David, when he continued to speak to her about the job, and to just make sure that she took breaks with it all. "Thanks David. I will be sure to do that. I am never one to force myself to do anything, well not these days anyway." Stacey then watched David put his hand on her arm, giving it a gentle squeeze, and then heard him say what he said. "Well I am glad that someone is looking out for me. I can't do it all on my own." She still couldn't believe that she had gotten a guy like David, who was really making sure that she was looking after herself, and was there to give her advice when needed.
When David came back, after ordering their food and drink, he came back, and then they started their conversation on what she wanted to buy. So they would buy the bigger stuff today. "Okay, sounds good. And yes, well I wouldn't be able to carry alot like the way I am." Stacey looked at her stomach, then back at David, giggling a little, shaking her head. "After it is all set up in my apartment, we will have to plan another play date to put it all together." She smiled all the more then, just finding it funny what she just said. Stacey then spoke about the cost, and David then spoke about sharing the burden of the cost now. "Okay. If I must." Then she smiled, looking away. "And thanks for understanding. I would hate for you to buy everything, when I want to buy things as well. I shouldn't have to rely on you for every little thing, now that I officially have a job." In some ways, she couldn't believe that she had the job, still feeling excited over it all.
"And I will allow you to buy the odd thing that you might see that the baby might need." Stacey giggled then, and told him that she was glad that he was here with her today. David said she was welcome, and that he really wouldn't have it any other way. Stacey matched that smile of his, and looked away again. Then their order came, and was placed on the table. Even though she had a biggish breakfast, Stacey's stomach began to tell her to eat the slice. It did look and smell delicious. "Thanks," Stacey said, when David handed over her order, He then gave a toast, and Stacey smiled, clinking her glass with his cup. "Same here." She instantly picked up the slice. She closed her eyed as she ate it, and had to let out a medium sized moan. Once the mouthful was gone, she looked at David. "This is so good. I will have to buy more of this to eat later." Stacey took another big bite, and again loved this mouthful more than the last. Before she knew it, she had eaten the whole lot. She looked at David sheepishly. "I can't believe I just ate all that in a few seconds."
Once she took a few mouthfuls of her coke, Stacey sat back in her chair, resting her hands on her stomach. "So it is the bigger stuff today then. I hope that the store nearby has what I am looking for. I don't want cheap stuff, but I don't want to spend a lot of money either, even though I know it is you who is buying these things, David. I was the best that there is for this little one, as it is my first. I want to at least keep it for the next one to come along." There, she was already talking about having another child, and hopefully it would be with David.

When David had told Stacey he knew she was special from day one, there were no other words spoken between them at that point, not that David needed them. He saw that blush and the way she had tried to smile at him with what looked like tears forming in her eyes. David didn’t think anything he could say would make her feel any different, and so he just smiled and winked at her, for fear of saying anything else might bring on the waterworks from Stacey in full flow, not that it would have bothered him really, but he wanted to try and refrain from sending her into a fit of tears if he could help it.
When David told Stacey attending the classes would make him feel like the baby was actually his, he had meant to say, it would make him feel as if the baby was his as well, but he hoped Stacey would know what he had really meant when he said that. He gave Stacey a smile when she spoke, “Well, I still maintain that he was wrong to have left you, but I can’t help thinking that if he hadn’t then I wouldn’t have you now. It’s very selfish of me to think like that, but I can’t help it. And I do want to be a part of the baby’s life, as well as yours, the both of you together.” David had then did a bit of thinking with regards to he and Stacey ever having a baby of their own, telling her that he wouldn’t treat his own any differently to the one Stacey was carrying now, placing his hand on her stomach and saying that this baby would be as much as his as well.
He soon felt Stacey’s hand over his own, and heard her sigh gently, and then he saw that warm smile of hers, he just loved that smile, her words just made him smile at her warmly right back, he would have replied right away, but she had gone on to talk about not being sure she was ready to have the baby at first when she had thought it was Brendan’s. “That is how I feel Stacey, I don’t just love you, I love you both, and I am not going anywhere.” He hoped he wasn’t going too far with that remark, but somehow after everything he had already said, he didn’t think that would be overstepping the mark somehow. He wanted to add that he would be only too happy to have another child with her, but he figured his declaration of love yesterday and what he had just said now about looking at Stacey’s child as his own already was enough for her to take in right now, but he would definitely approach it again later when he felt the time was right.
After David told Stacey he had a fair idea about the whole labour thing what with being old enough to understand when his mum went into labour with his twin sisters, he saw that look on her face. Well there was no look really, that’s what was worrying him, he saw her bite down on bottom lip, he put his hands on her arms gently, looking right into her eyes. “Stacey that wasn’t meant to scare you, it was meant to reassure you. It will all be fine. My mum says that labour is the easiest pain to forget because it brings you so much joy at the end of it.” David then got a memory of when he had went into the hospital the soon as his sisters had been born and the look of joy on both his parents face’s at finally having an addition to the family was just an amazing experience. Of course it hadn’t taken David long to hold his baby sisters, one in each arm looking down at them with love, and knowing then at seventeen, he wanted to be a daddy more than anything. “But yes, I agree, the classes will be good, for both of us. It’s been quite a while since my sisters were babies, it will be good to get a refresher course, so to speak.” He grinned at her then, hoping that it might cheer her up, or at least take her mind off of something which was a few months off yet.
David hoped he hadn’t sounded harsh when he told Stacey that he wasn’t Brendan, but the fact she had said what she said knowing that it was what she had expected after being with Brendan made him want to get it through to her that he wasn’t Brendan and he never would be. The therapist began to creep out of David when he spoke to her next, “Stacey it’s only natural that you will probably compare us from time to time, and it really won’t bother me, just so long as you realise soon enough that I am me and I am different.” If she was going to thank him for any compliments he gave her, then he might just have to start saying she was welcome, that way they’d both be happy, he’d get to compliment her and she’d get to thank him. He didn’t care, so long as Stacey was happy, he’d do anything for her, anything to make her happy.
David was happy Stacey had got the job she wanted, as it made her happy and that’s all that mattered to him, he wasn’t about to say she didn’t need to work, he could keep them both, because even if he was rather comfortable with money, he understood the need to get out there and work and just do something, so he would never say to her, you don’t have to work, you can live off of my money, no, that wasn’t in David’s nature whatsoever. As long as she took care of herself, and didn’t overdo it that was all that mattered to him. “Good, I’m glad you won’t push yourself.” David had then given her arm a gentle squeeze telling her he was just looking out for her because he cared. “Well, you don’t have to do it by yourself Stacey, you’ve got me now, and I’m not going anywhere, just like I said earlier.” He gave her a bright smile then.
Once David was sitting at the table after ordering their food and drink, he brought up the conversation about what they were going to buy for the baby that day. David had to chuckle when she agreed that she wouldn’t be able to carry a lot with the way she was. “No, you wouldn’t, not to mention that it could be dangerous for you.” There came the caring and therapist side of David again, maybe Stacey would soon realise what she had let herself in for getting involved with someone like him, who was probably always going to be on her back about taking care of herself, and always knowing when she was down or when something was on her mind no matter how hard she tried to cover it up. That could often be the curse of being in a relationship with a therapist and or doctor. So David was really glad that he was with her now, knowing he would be doing all the heavy lifting and laying, after her earlier stint in the hospital with the scare at his office, he didn’t want another one like that if he could help it.
David had to raise his eyebrow slightly when Stacey said that they would have to arrange another play date to set everything up at her apartment. “Is that what you call it Stacey? That was an interesting choice of words there.” He grinned at her, “But yes, I agree.” Although deep down he would rather have set it all up at his house, but really, they were only a day into this new relationship, he just couldn’t be thinking like that, well he could, but he couldn’t have Stacey knowing he was thinking like that, it might just be enough to make her run for the hills. If the topic was brought up at a later date before the baby was born, then David would just have to move what he could from her apartment she would want to his house, including all the baby stuff naturally.
When David spoke of sharing the cost of the baby items, after his treat today, Stacey had said if she must, David grinned, “Yes, you must.” But really he could understand her need to buy things herself, and who was he to stop her, she was the mother after all. When she thanked him for understanding David smiled at her. “You’re welcome Stacey; I do understand that you want to get things by yourself, and why shouldn’t you? She or he is your baby after all. I also understand you don’t want to rely on me all the time and I appreciate that, but Stacey, just please understand that now we’re in this relationship, I want to share as many things with you as possible, that’s what being in a loving relationship is about, sharing as well as caring and loving.” He hoped she knew what he meant by that, but as much as he said that, he knew that a person’s independence was just as important and he would never take that away from her, ever.
Stacey had then added that she would allow him to buy the odd thing he saw the baby might need, he shook his head and smiled at her, “Well thank you Miss Potter, I do feel honoured.” He was of course teasing her, and he laughed and then took her hand in his own, “Seriously, I would love to, not sure what there will be that I will see the baby needs exactly, but there just might be some things I’ll see and think, I have to buy that.” He looked at Stacey with love in his eyes, he was so in love with her and her baby, he felt like the luckiest guy in the world while he couldn’t help but think that Brendan was a fool to have let her go.
Soon their order arrived at their table and David took a drink of his latte and a bite of his muffin, even though he wasn’t particularly hungry, they had just been too tempting not to buy one. He then watched as Stacey took a piece of her peanut butter slice and the look on her face was adorable, she seemed to be really enjoying it, and then all too soon it was gone. When Stacey said it was so good and she’d have to buy more for later, David couldn’t stop himself, “Well, can you let me have the honour of buying some for you to take home please? Let me buy the first craving as your official boyfriend and can I say it, daddy of your baby?” He chose his words carefully, because technically he wasn’t the father, but he could be daddy. He was grinning at her now, he was just so glad she had enjoyed what she had eaten.
David soon demolished his muffin, leaving him to sip on his latte, and then watched as Stacey drank some of her coke before leaning back in her chair and confirming that they were buying the bigger stuff today. She went on to say she hoped the store had what she was looking for as she didn’t want cheap stuff but didn’t want to spend a lot of money either even though she knew he was paying for it today. Then she mentioned she wanted the best for the little one she was carrying now and to keep it for the next one which would come along. “Of course you want the best for your baby, our baby and it will be good to get things that can easily be used again, I’m not going to say anything against that idea. I’d have a football team of children if I could, If you see something you like, don’t think about the price first off, ask me, if I think it’s out my price range, I’ll tell you, I promise, and then we can look at something else just as good but less expensive, alright?”
He wasn’t just saying that to keep her quiet either, yes he was quite comfortable with money, but even he had a budget for spending in a month even though his house was already paid for and his car was paid for, he still had the usual amenity bills to pay for, and they were never cheap and he had the business to run and pay for as well. David then took a look at the time and realised that it was getting on for the shops opening soon. He lifted up his latte and took quite a gulp of it this time. Then looked at Stacey, “Well, the shops will be opening soon, so whenever you’re ready to go, just say the word.”

Stacey listened to what David was saying, and she nodded a few times through out. Just hearing about 'him' was still hitting home a little, but not as much as it used to. But then also hearing about him saying that he wouldn't have had her now, made her smile to herself. It was definately obvious that Brendan and David were definately different in so many ways, but they had one thing in common: they both loved her. That is all that really mattered to Stacey. She was loved and cared for by Brendan, but she had made a mistake, and she had to live with it on her own. But now, she had David, and it seemed that he was willing to take her and the baby on.
After she had spoken about what she had been feeling back when she found out that she was pregnant, she listened to what David said in reply. Just hearing him say that she loved both her and the baby the same was making her more happy than she had been, before yesterday. Stacey's life had been getting on track, after the first appointment they had, or didn't have. Everything had been falling into place, and it had been feeling great. Now she had David, a wonderful, loving man in her life. It was definately an amazing feeling, one she never wanted to let go of. "Well I hope you are. I know it hasn't been a day yet, but I have this feeling that you are going to be around for a while yet." Stacey gave him another warm smile, and hugged into him.
Stacey knew that what he said wasn't meant to scare her, but she was still getting a bit afraid of what was to come at the end. Sure, carrying the child had it's ups and downs, but at the end was the time when it actually came out, and that thought sometimes scared the hell out of her. Stacey nodded slowly, swallowing a little, when David put his hands on her arms, and commented more. "Well I hope so, as I am not looking forward to it at all, even though it is like over three months away." Stacey knew that she had to forget thinking about it, but she wasn't, and it would always be in the back of her mind. She nodded then, giving him a weak smile, when he said the classes would be good. Stacey couldn't wait to get those underway, to prepare her more so then David. "I know that you are going to be great, and I hope I will be too." Just knowing that he was there to help support her and help her was a great relieve really.
When David said that she had to realise that he was him, and he was different to Brendan, she nodded. "I know, and I know that you are different to him, honestly. There are so many things that I love about you already, but just somethings that I was used to will still come through. But I will try and keep them at bay, don't worry." She gave him a smile, hoping that that would be the case for herself. Sometimes though it will just pop into her head, and might just go back to her normal ways. But Stacey hoped that she might start getting into a better relationship pattern with David. Then moments later, when Stacey found out that she had gotten the job, David had just made her aware about not pushing herself, which she agreed to. She never wanted what happened previously to happen ever again. The next time she wanted to see a hospital emergency room was when the baby was officially coming. "I know I won't be doing it on my own. I am glad that you will be here through it all."
Stacey shook her head, when David commented on her choice of words, about having a play date. "I don't know where it came from, just came out." She giggled a little then, and David agreed about making another time to set it all up. "Good, because I am not good with instructions. Well I can be, if they are easy to follow." She knew most or all of the bigger stuff would have to be assembled. "I can just imagine myself trying to put together the cot, screwing in things here and there, and it all crashing down, and then you finding me in a blubbering mess." It was kind of funny to imagine it, but it would be a different matter if she actually ended up like that though in real life. Not a pretty sight.
Stacey rolled her eyes, and smirked, when David said she must let him share the cost. David then went on about hoping that she understands about the sort of relationship that they were now a part of. Just hearing him lay out what it was all about, she had to smile a little. "And I can't wait to share all of that with you as well, David. Just as long as I can do my own thing." Stacey smiled all the more, knowing that David would let her have breathing space. She loved all the things that came with a relationship as much as the next girl, but she also loved doing her own thing, which wasn't much these days, what with being pregnant. You sometimes got restricted with doing things.
Stacey grinned as David commented more about buying things, and not really knowing what the baby will need. She giggled a little when he said that there might be some things that he might see and just have to buy it. Then that smile of his, made her give him one of her own, squeezing his hand. "Well I don't think that either one of us will mind what you buy. I am sure that the little one will tell me if they like it or not." Stacey knew that she was only kidding, as the baby would have no idea. But she knew in herself, that whatever David bought she would love.
Stacey felt bad for eating all of the peanut butter slice so quickly, but it was so good. She then said that she would have to buy more. Whoever made them she had to ask them to keep making them, they were that good. David then asked if he could buy them for her, as her first craving as her official boyfriend. She grinned. "Sure, why not. I won't say no to food. And I don't think the baby will have any objections at all either." Stacey gently rubbed her stomach, feeling that there was definately room for more later.
After Stacey made the comment about getting the bigger stuff today, David replied back, basically responding to all she had said. So it seemed that David wanted a lot of kids. Stacey knew that she wanted more than one, for sure, but hadn't really looked at numbers as yet. "Okay. And how many players are normally in a football team? Just curious." Stacey then laughed a little, but really she had no idea. In high school, she might have dated one, but never really took much notice of the others on the team.
Stacey picked up her glass and began to then gulp down the rest of her coke. It was so good, she just had to finish it. Then she put the empty glass down on the table, as she noticed David look at what time it was. He then spoke about the shops opening soon, and whenever she was ready to go, just to tell him. Then a massive burp rang out of Stacey, who was trying to contain it, but it was far from containable. Stacey felt her face so hot all of a sudden, looking around, then looked at David. "Pardon me. That is what coke does to me." She then let out a laugh, and then began to get up. "I think that was my answer for us to leave. And now you can go and buy some more of that slice for me for later." Stacey had a fair idea that that burp would be the only one, if it was that big. She rubbed her stomach, knowing full well that the baby must have enjoyed it.
Stacey waited for David to go and get some more of the slice, and then once he had it, she headed outside, knowing the shops that were able to help them that day. "So there is a shop a couple of blocks away that sells everything. So they should have some sort of baby goods there. Should check them out first." Stacey couldn't wait to start looking, and finding the things that they could use for the baby, when it came.

David gave Stacey a warm smile, and hugged her back, “Well I hope I’m around for a while yet, I don’t plan on going anywhere, unless you want me to?” He was sort of joking with her, and laughed a little after what he said, but then pulled her closer into the hug. There was no way in the world Stacey was going to lose him, he loved everything about her, and what was more, he would be a daddy soon, even if the baby technically wasn’t his, it didn’t matter, he would be there from the day the baby was born until the end of time hopefully.
When Stacey said she wasn’t looking forward to the birth, David really felt for her, after all, he couldn’t really turn round and say, hey it’s nothing, you get over it in minutes, he hadn’t gone through child birth. Despite knowing the pain his mother went through, he still hadn’t experienced it, so it wasn’t in his place to tell her how she should or shouldn’t feel about the prospect of giving birth. David removed his hands from her arms and actually held her hands in his own, “Don’t worry about it Stacey, I’m not going to say it’s nothing, I don’t know what it’s like, but I do know that I’ll be with you the whole time, we’ll get through it together, okay?” He leaned in and gave her a gentle kiss on the lips then. When Stacey commented further about hoping to be good, David squeezed her hands gently, “You will be better than good, you will be great, I can feel it.” He then gave her another gentle kiss.
David had then commented about how he wasn’t Brendan and she had to realise that, maybe it wasn’t the right choice of words to say, after all she had been deeply in love with Brendan, it was only natural she’d think of him from time to time and possibly make comparisons. However when Stacey spoke and gave him that smile, he smiled back at her brightly. “Well I can’t ask for more than that, and I guess I should try to realise that these things might happen. It will only get better the longer we’re together.” He replied in a reassuring voice and gave her another bright smile. When Stacey then commented that she was glad he would be there to help her through it all, he smiled and nodded his head, “Well I’m glad too.”
After Stacey commented more about the play date comment, he had to laugh at her giggle, it was kind of cute, and he liked it. Although maybe he shouldn’t have had such a one tracked mind over what she had said, but he found he couldn’t help himself. “Well, I guess it doesn’t help when I looked at it with a one track mind.” He chuckled a little then following her own giggle. Stacey then went on to say she wasn’t good with instructions unless they were simple. “Well that’s alright, I’m sure we’ll get things together between us.” He smiled brightly at her. In a way he was really looking forward to helping Stacey put the items together. When Stacey continued talking about putting the cot together, or trying to and it falling down with her in a blubbering mess, David laughed a little. “I’d probably find it cute knowing me, but you don’t have to worry about that happening, I’ll help, so no need to worry.” He took one of his hands and gave one of her hands a gentle squeeze.
David grinned when Stacey said she couldn’t wait to share it all with him so long as she could still do her own thing as well. “I wouldn’t have it any other way, the best couples need their own time and space as well as being with each other.” David had never had much of his own independence what with helping his mom to raise his twin sisters, but now that they had grown a bit, and were no longer as demanding as they were as babies and toddlers he could have a little more independence, so he wasn’t about to take that away from Stacey.
When Stacey commented saying she was sure the baby would tell her if they liked what David bought or not, he knew she was just kidding and he couldn’t help but chuckle. “I am sure if you put my hand on your stomach and asked if they liked what I bought, they would kick hard if the answer was no.” David laughed a little then, his eyes twinkling, he just couldn’t help but tease her back. Even on the first day as an official couple he knew he was going to love being with Stacey, he just loved everything there was about her.
After David asked Stacey if he could buy her more of the peanut slices as her first craving as her official boyfriend he wasn’t sure if she would say yes or no what with the whole sharing the cost of things for the baby, which he totally understood, but he was glad when she said yes. “Awesome, I need to remember if I’m coming over for a visit, that I should bring some peanut butter slices and a fresh ice cold cup of coke.” He grinned at her, taking a note of those cravings at the back of his mind so he would never forget, not that he forgot anything when it came to Stacey.
When David had commented about having a football team of kids, he had to keep a straight face when Stacey asked how many were in a team. If he started to laugh before he answered he would spoil what he was about to say. So putting on as serious a face as possible he replied, “Eleven, plus reserves for when a player might injure themselves, so thirteen in total.” He waited for Stacey’s reaction before continuing as a smile spread across his face, “However, I’d settle for a five aside team.” Looking at Stacey’s reaction again, he then decided to add, “Actually, I’m a great believer in keeping the numbers even, three is wrong, you always have one who feels stuck in the middle. So either two or four is the best to go, and with two, you can’t beat one boy and one girl, it’s what the British call a gentleman’s family I believe.” David gave her a warm smile, he would love heaps of kids, but at the end of the day it was always the woman’s choice, they were the ones who had to go through the whole nine months of carrying the child and then going through the labour. In truth he would be happy with whatever made his woman happy and in this case, whatever made Stacey happy.
After David pointed out the time, he watched as Stacey drank the rest of her coke and let out an almighty burp. David couldn’t help but laugh, well really, the gas had to go somewhere didn’t it? So when she excused herself saying that’s what coke did to her, David grinned, “Well, the gas has to go somewhere Stacey and better coming up than going down.” Alright, there went David’s rather cheeky, rude, one track mind again. He just couldn’t help it, and he laughed along with Stacey. Stacey commented more saying that burp was their cue to leave and he could buy her more of that slice. So as Stacey got herself sorted David made his way over to the counter, and asked for four of the peanut butter slices to take away. He was given them in a paper bag and David handed over the money and then he turned to Stacey. “There we go madam, I hope you will enjoy these later.” He knew she should be able to put them into her bag without hopefully squashing them.
Stacey soon mentioned a shop near which would have everything and they should go there and check them out first. David smiled warmly, “Sounds like a plan to me.” Without even thinking he took Stacey’s hand and began to walk to the shop she was referring to. He was pretty sure he knew which one it was, as his mom had got all the things for the twins there, it had been a newly opened shop at the time, so it was obviously doing very well for itself. “I think I know the store you’re talking about, my mom bought all the things for the twins in it, well most of the things anyway, it was only just opened then though.” Soon David had them both at this store he was sure Stacey was talking about. “Would this be it?” He certainly hoped so or he was going to look like a bit of a fool for taking her to a store when she was thinking of another altogether. He waited for Stacey to respond before holding the door open, just in case he had to about turn and head somewhere else.

Stacey hugged him back, then pulled away slightly to talk. "Oh no. You aren't going anywhere. So I like your plan very much." She gave him a big smile. "You can't leave me now with all this to do on my own, can you?" Stacey giggled then, and went back to hug him more. It seemed that they had fun with the banter, and each other kind of knew how each one ticked.
As David held her hands in his own, he responded to her worries about the birth. She nodded at what he said, and smiled a little, when he said that he would be there the whole time. "Okay." He then gave her a gentle kiss, which made her smile when they parted. After her comment about her hoping to be good with the classes, David once again reassured her, which did bring a bit of relief, and feeling him squeeze her hand made it just elevate by ten percent. After he gently kissed her again, she gave him a grin. She had no words right now, but what David was saying was helping her worry a little, or maybe more than a little.
Stacey nodded at David's comment about what she said in relation to the whole David/Brendan comparison discussion. "I hope so, because I just know that I am going to love the time we will spend together, no matter what we do. For instance, today." Definately today was going to be an example of how they would work together, in order to buy and collect some items for the baby that looked like it was now going to have two loving parents. Just thinking that made Stacey really happy. To start off with the baby was going to have two loving parents, then it had one that wasn't dealing with the new circumstances, but now it was back to having two.
Stacey rolled her eyes at David's 'one track mind' comment. What was it with guys and thinking about things that were just rude or dirty. But really, Stacey could sometimes think like that, so she shouldn't be putting David down like that. Stacey nodded when David said about the whole instructions issue she had. He then added after her about her comment about trying to do something and then ending up in a blubbering mess. She kind of raised her eyebrows at his comment about finding it cute. "It might sound cute now, but you have not seen me in a full blown moodswing. If I am a mess, don't comment about it being cute. I can't guarantee that I will be nice about it." She shook her head then, just imagining the scene that would unfold if he did say how cute it was the way she was. But she gave him a reassuring smile, and he gently squeezed her hand. "And I am glad that you will help. Might be some weekend jobs coming your way."
Stacey nodded when David spoke about couples needing their own time and space, plus time to be together. "Well I suppose I will get there sometimes when I have to do articles. But I do love to just cuddle up, you know, and just be with my partner." Stacey could just imagine just lazing about with David, and just relaxing together. It was a nice image, and one she hoped that they could play out soon.
Stacey had to giggle a little at David's reply about how the baby would react to what he bought. "Well they had better not kick too hard, or there won't be much of my stomach left." She looked down at her stomach then, playing along with what she had said. "Now don't you go and kick your mom too hard, or you will be dealing with a very angry voice." Stacey looked up at David, and smiled. "I hope I told it who was boss. And you are free to do whatever you think it will take for a response to come. Just as long as they don't move around and think that it is time to come out. Now that I will not appreciate, especially if it is early."
"Yes you must. And I should learn how to cook them as well, though not good at complicated things. So maybe we should just stick to buying them from here then." She then instantly thought about the coke. "And maybe I should just stock up on coke at my place, and maybe at yours, if you don't mind. Just in case I am there and have a craving for it. Don't be surprised if I ask for it for breakfast, or any other weird time of day that it shouldn't be drunk." Stacey could drink it twenty-four seven if she could.
Stacey heard what David said, in regards to how many were on a football team. She hadn't meant to, but she gasped a little, sitting back in her chair. Looking down at her hands, Stacey swallowed, not sure where to look. When she finally looked up, she saw that smile, but still felt like her face was showing a bit of shock to what he said. Stacey felt herself relax a little, when he said that he said he would settle for five aside. "So you want ten instead?" She frowned a little, not sure about that number. Stacey waited to hear his reply, but he added more to the number discussion, and hearing that he would be happy two or four, she let out a small breath. Looking at him, she relaxed her face. "I would agree to maybe two, until I had this little one. Once I know what I am in for with the birth, I might reconsider numbers then." Stacey gave him a small smile, finding it a relief that it might end up being a small number, compared with what he had started off with suggesting.
"Well I don't think I would like it to go the other way. But coming up just gets louder for me right now." She grinned a little, giggling. She got herself ready, as David went and bought more of the slice for her to take with them. Once he brought them over, she took them, "Why thank you. And I can't see why I won't enjoy them. They were just the best thing I have tasted. But might have to save two for later, when we can just sit and relax." So she was happy that maybe what she had been thinking earlier might happen today.
Soon enough they were off, heading towards the store that Stacey had spoken about. Feeling David's hand in hers felt nice, and kind of like she had held it all of her life. He then spoke of maybe knowing the store that she had been talking about. "I do think it might be the same. It looked like it was exactuly brand new or anything." They soon stopped in front of the exact store she had been talking about. "Yes, this is it. There aren't too many maternity or baby stores around here anyway. Actually might only be two or three." David then held the door open and she made her way in.
Once inside, Stacey's eyes just grew a bit wider, seeing how much stuff was actually in the store. Everything was in every colour you could think of, and the store looked liked it didn't end as you looked towards the back. "We might just be here for a while," Stacey said with a smile to David. She quickly turned, and began to walk towards the back of the store where the cots, prams and other larger items were. Stacey knew that the bigger stuff were going to be bought, and it was for the best really, as David was there to help.
Stacey then stopped in her tracks, and let out a small gasp, then walked over to the cots that were there assembled. "Oh my goodness. These are so adorable." She went over to one, looking into it. Stacey leant on the edge, just imagining what the baby might look like inside it. Looking at the mobile that was hanging overhead, made her get all teary. She looked at David, wiping at her eyes. "I guess this is going to be an interesting day for me emotionally."
