Houston, Texas May 28th After two months, walking through this park had become natural again. That was understandable though as she had been doing it for around seven years now. It had only been those three months when she had been avoiding places like this that she hadn't. Unlike that time in March when Evelyn had somehow found herself here without meaning to be, this time she had a reason. Most of the times she had walked through this park this month she had a reason though. She had gotten back that thing in her life that made things better. The park was just an easy way to get from her work to Olivia's.
But then these past two months had also been hard. Trying to keep Olivia from her parents, while still spending time with her was proving to be a lot harder than she had hoped. She couldn't help but feel bad every time one of her parents called checking up on her, even though Olivia had said the first time that it was fine & that there was no way she could control her parents. Then not answering her parents questions completely truthfully was also making her feel bad. Yet there was nothing she could do about that. She couldn't exactly tell her parents the truth about herself. There was no way they would react in any way other than trying to put a stop to her relationship with Olivia. Probably a stop to her friendship too. It wasn't like it was the only secret she had from them, but hiding her Wiccan beliefs was a lot easier as it involved less lying.
When Evelyn entered the cafe she saw there were no customers, & only two workers. Or at least in the main part there were, as there could have been more out the back. Usually when Evelyn came in at this time though there was only two left. It wasn't the usual two this time, as the owner Nancy was nowhere to be seen. Evelyn was happy to find this, & hoped that there really was only Olivia & Patricia there. Nancy it seemed still found herself unable to trust Evelyn, or at least that was the impression she got from her. Olivia of course dismissed Evelyn's concerns when she had mentioned them, insisting that Nancy was fine with them being back together. It wasn't that Evelyn didn't believe her either, she just couldn't help but feel that Nancy didn't trust her to not hurt Olivia again.
"Afternoon Liv, Patty." Evelyn said as she approached the counter, using nicknames for both of them. Evelyn hadn't come to the cafe for anything, she just wanted to see what Olivia was doing on the weekend; if she wasn't working. OOC: No godmodding done, as anything in here that mentions something that Olivia had done was discussed with Aurora or from the previous thread. Up to you since they are your character's Aurora, but it might make it easier if Olivia always replies after Evelyn, that way I will know if you are skipping her or not since I will just have Evelyn always reply after Patricia. Edit: Now changed date to fit current time line.

After a few days of contemplating, Nancy had finally decided who she would ask to stay behind later than usual. Olivia had found the whole things amusing and slightly over the top. It really would not matter who stayed behind, most of the workers were capable of helping to pack things away. It was not like Olivia was not going to be there anyway. Considering Olivia had been working at the cafe the longest out of all the staff, including Nancy, she could not see how Nancy was not leaving the cafe in capable hands. All the other staff member would need to do is ask if they were unsure of anything, it was not like Nancy had been leaving the cafe without a staff member who had closed it before.
The cafe was not the only thing that Nancy was over protective of though. For the past two months, since Evelyn had come back, Olivia knew that Nancy had been watching them, and watching out for her. From the first day, when Evelyn had first come back, Olivia had known Nancy would be though. Nancy’s words may have said she was happy for them, but it was still clear that she did not trust Evelyn not to disappear again. Olivia knew Evelyn picked up on it, but she would always dismiss it not wanting an argument to start between the two people she was closest to.
There were no customers in the cafe currently. There had not really been all afternoon though so that was no surprise. It was probably a good thing that they were not busy though, it gave Olivia a chance to talk to Patricia. “So what exactly are you making me do tonight?” On Wednesday Olivia had basically agreed to babysit Patricia, but she had little idea on many details otherwise. Patricia was a good worker, and a friendly person, Olivia had not needed to think twice when Patricia had asked her for a favour. She was happy to help her out, even if it meant doing something she would not normally do. Of course Olivia had to wonder why Patricia had asked her of all people, but she was not going to ask that.
Olivia had not been completely expecting Evelyn, but she was happy to see her. Evelyn often came to the cafe in the afternoon. It was a safe time they could see each other without Evelyn needing to make up some excuse to her parents. So what if Evelyn went to a cafe a few times a week? That was not questionable behaviour. Olivia was not about to complain about it either since she still got to see Evelyn. “Hey Eve. Can we get you anything?” Olivia responded, unsure if Evelyn had come to order something or just for a visit. Olivia would not object to either though, as both would allow her to spend some time with Evelyn. OOC - I agree with that, it sounds like a good plan. Again no godmodding done in this post, or the one I am going to post for Patricia since I cleared anything involving Evelyn with Chelle before I posted. Edit: Time line change fixed.

When Nancy had asked Patricia to work a few extra hours, she never thought anything of it. Sure she agreed; she was happy to help her boss out. But when she had agreed she had not realised how much easier it would make her plans. Due to her parents deciding to become over protective of her, despite her age, she was not allowed to go out alone that night. Sure she could have picked a whole group of friends her own age to go with, but she thought it wiser to ask someone older. That would make her parents feel a whole lot better, and Patricia hoped it would cheer Olivia up. Sure Olivia had been in a noticeably better mood these past two months, since Evelyn had returned, but there was still something wrong. Not that Patricia would ask, but she was concerned about it, so she hoped that she could cheer Olivia up or at least take her mind off whatever it was that was getting to her.
Olivia may not be a close friend of Patricia’s, but she was one of the nicest people Patricia worked with. The fact that Olivia was probably over twice her age, and most likely old enough to be her mother was also not something that Patricia thought or care about. Patricia and Olivia had bonded over one shared difference they had - Patricia having the ability to heal, Olivia having the ability to see ghosts. That may not have been much, but it was good to know that you were not the only one in a world full of both haters and those who did not care. It made it easier to have just one person in the same boat as Patricia, even if they had different on the abilities themselves. Patricia personally thought Olivia’s medium ability was cool, but she also knew that Olivia saw it more of a curse for whatever reason. Of course Olivia was not the only one who knew about her ability, but Nancy was not the same since she was just an ‘ordinary human’.
Nancy had left to go to some school related thing for one of her children, and there currently were no customers. Patricia was washing some of the used cups and plates, when Olivia spoke to her. “I am not making you do anything.” She replied quickly, disagreeing with Olivia’s use of the word ‘making’. Patricia had asked Olivia if she wanted to go, she was not making her do anything. “I need to go out and have some fun, and you are coming with me. You just have to stay an hour or so, that is fine. My parents just would feel a whole lot better letting me go out if I am with someone else.” Patricia probably sounded like she was still pleading with Olivia to go again, even though she had already agreed to it.
Since she had her back to the door, Patricia did not actually see who had come in. But when she heard the person speak it did not surprise her that it had been Evelyn. It made sense that she had come here since she often did, which was also understandable considering Olivia and Evelyn's relationship. Not that Patricia knew what their current relationship was. Evelyn had not been around for a few months, and Olivia had not been herself during that time. But just because Evelyn had come back did not mean they were back together. Patricia hoped so though. Unlike some people, Patricia was not bothered by what other people’s sexualities were.
“Hi” Patricia said quietly in response to Evelyn. When Olivia went around to start wiping down the tables, it left Patricia to talk to Evelyn. “You know Evelyn you should come with us tonight.” She said, unsure if Evelyn had plans or if Olivia would even want Evelyn there. Of course since she was in the same room and would have heard her, Olivia would probably voice her objections if that was the case.

When Evelyn entered the cafe, she couldn’t hear what Olivia & Patricia were talking about, but she did notice that they were having some form of a conversation. However once Evelyn reached the counter it had stopped, so she heard none of it. She hadn’t seen Patricia in a while, but she had still recognised her, despite the fact that she had her back to the door. “No, since you are still not on the menu.” Evelyn quietly responded, shaking her head when Olivia questioned if she wanted anything. She spoke quietly so that Patricia wouldn’t be part of the conversation, although she could probably still hear what Evelyn said. She had no idea where her response had come from; she had just said the first thing that came to mind really.
Of course Evelyn knew that Olivia would still have a job to do, she would never want to get in the way of that. She watched when Olivia walked off to clean the tables, before Patricia spoke, causing her to look in her direction. Evelyn had intended to follow Olivia & question her about her plans for the weekend, but now it seemed that she would have to question the plans for Friday first. “I should what? You both have plans together tonight?” Evelyn looked between Patricia & Olivia, then back at Patricia since her question was more intended for her. Sure she was still interested in what plans Olivia had for the weekend, but the fact that Olivia had plans with Patricia were far more interesting than that for now.
As far as Evelyn knew Patricia was just a part-time worker. She hadn’t really known how much of a friend she was with Olivia. They had never done anything together during the time that Evelyn had been dating, or at least living with, Olivia. Not to Evelyn’s knowledge anyway. She wasn’t aware of what exactly it was, but she did also know that part of the reason that Olivia & Patricia had a friendship, or bond, was due to the fact that like Olivia Patricia had an ability of some kind. What exactly Patricia’s ability was, wasn’t Evelyn’s business, so she had never asked. It was of Evelyn’s opinion that if someone like Patricia & Olivia were going to tell her about their abilities they would in their own time & way, & didn’t need to be questioned or pressured about it.

Olivia had not meant to sound like Patricia was making her do something against her will; it had just come out that way. Perhaps with everything else, mainly to do with Evelyn, going on in Olivia’s head she was no longer thinking properly. “I know, sorry.” Olivia apologised for both her words and behaviour, before listening to what Patricia had to say about why she had asked Olivia to go with her. “Oh okay, we will see.” Was all she said in response, nodding her head. She probably would only end up staying for the hour though, she really just did not feel like going out, but she knew she should. That was why she had said yes to Patricia, she just hoped that she would not spoil Patricia’s evening with her distracted mood.
Evelyn’s arrival had put a halt to her conversation with Patricia, but then again it could barely be called a conversation since Olivia’s mind was not really in it. Instead it was off trying to come up with some way to show Evelyn what her insisting on keeping their relationship a secret from her parents was doing to her, without upsetting Evelyn. When she had asked Evelyn if they could get her anything she had not expected the response she received. ‘I doubt that I am what you really want.’ Olivia hated the first thought that came to mind in response to it, but she could not help but feel as though Evelyn was not really in the relationship. “Hmm..” Olivia just made a noise in response to Evelyn, before walking off to go wipe down the tables.
Yes Olivia could hear what Patricia was saying, but she did not say anything. How could she turn around and say that Evelyn could not come? That would hurt Evelyn, which was what Olivia was trying not to do. When Evelyn looked back at her, Olivia just shrugged as if her going out with Patricia was nothing new or questionable. Really this was the first time she was going to do anything with Patricia, which Evelyn would probably work out considering they had been dating for over three years, friends for over six, and had lived together for two. Despite not wanting to say anything, Olivia still glared at Patricia when Evelyn was not looking. But it was too late to do anything about it now that Evelyn had been invited, just hope that she would be busy.

Patricia giggled and shook her head when Olivia apologised for her implying that she was making her go out with her. “No need for that.” She responded before going on about her reasons behind asking Olivia. Patricia could hear the distraction in Olivia’s voice, but what could she do about it? She doubted that Olivia would explain even if she did ask, although it couldn’t hurt to try. It was then that Evelyn arrived though, putting a halt to any further conversation.
Yes Patricia could hear Evelyn’s response to Olivia’s innocent question, but she simply ignored it. It was Olivia’s response that caught her attention. It was not even a word, just a sound, almost as if Olivia was questioning or not believing Evelyn’s words. Words which had confirmed for Patricia, that Evelyn was in a relationship with Olivia. After watching Olivia walk off to start wiping down the tables, Patricia put aside her concerns for her co-worker, suggesting that Evelyn join them that night.
Patricia watched as Evelyn processed the information of her going out with Olivia, wondering what was going on in her mind as she looked from one woman to the other. She saw Olivia shrug, leaving the explaining to Patricia. “Yes we do, I asked Olivia to come out with me tonight since I needed a night out and my parents wanted me to take someone with me.” She explained, wondering why Olivia had not told Evelyn about it since she had asked Olivia about it two days ago.
Seeing the look she got off Olivia only concerned Patricia more. She had no idea what was going on with Olivia, but clearly it had something to do with Evelyn. “Of course you don’t have to come. It was just a suggestion. I’m sure you have plans or something.” Patricia rambled, in some ways doing what Olivia would want - seeing if she could discourage Evelyn from coming. In truth Patricia wondered if she would be able to find the answer to what was wrong with Olivia from Evelyn, which would require Evelyn to join them that night.

When Evelyn had made her joke about Olivia not being on the menu she had hoped for more of a response than she received. Evelyn had known that things weren’t completely working out too well, at least in her mind, but this was the first time she had gotten a real response from Olivia. Or lack of response as the case actually was. Something was wrong with her girlfriend, sure she had no idea if it was her, but she presumed it was since Olivia’s not caring response had been directed at both her & their relationship.
The fact that there was something wrong gave Evelyn more reason to go follow her when she went to wipe down the tables, but Patricia interrupted that with her suggestion for Evelyn to join them that night. When Evelyn had questioned about their plans, all she got from Olivia was a shrug, which was slightly less of a response than she had gotten earlier. This concerned Evelyn further, but she had no time to dwell over it before Patricia answered her questions for her. Sure she had been more asking Patricia, but Olivia was still acting strange.
Evelyn listened as Patricia explained why she was going out with Olivia. Evelyn had no idea about the look Olivia was giving Patricia, so had no idea why Patricia was then in some ways changing her mind & now talking Evelyn out of going. “Well it does sound interesting. Are you sure you wouldn’t mind me joining you?” She questioned since she had no idea how Patricia would feel being around both Olivia & her, alone. It may be slightly awkward, even if Olivia wasn’t exactly talking to her.
After talking to Patricia, Evelyn turned back to Olivia, walking over to the table she was currently cleaning. “You ok?” She asked, her voice showing the concern she had about how her girlfriend was. Really she wanted to ask if things between them were ok, but for all she knew Olivia’s strange behaviour had nothing to do with them.

Since no one said anything, Olivia could not know the reaction she had caused by not really answering Evelyn. She was too busy trying not to hurt her girlfriend, and just concentrate on her job as best she could, that she did not see that she had at least concerned Evelyn. She also failed to notice Patricia’s concern for her, though it was only for a brief moment, since Olivia was not facing either Patricia or Evelyn.
Olivia listened to Patricia explain what they were doing that night, stopping her glare when she heard Patricia seem to backtrack, without actually uninviting Evelyn. She heard Evelyn’s response though, which showed that Evelyn had not been deterred from joining them. Olivia had no idea if Evelyn joining them would make any difference, but hopefully at least that would mean Patricia would have someone more fun to talk to. Olivia just did not see herself being the most enjoyable person to be around, of course she did not realise that that was the reason she had been invited - to cheer her up.
Returning to cleaning the tables, Olivia tried to ignore the fact that Evelyn was now walking towards her. She had no idea what to say or if she could even talk to her. All Olivia wanted was for things to work with them, but she could not make things go back to the way they were before Evelyn’s parents had come here, just like she could not make Evelyn tell them about them.
When Evelyn spoke to her, Olivia glanced up at her, before looking back at the table she was cleaning. She had heard the concern in Evelyn’s voice, and it seemed to break her heart to realise that Evelyn could see that something was wrong. Trying to keep her tone even, so that it did not reveal that she was lying, Olivia answered Evelyn. “I’m fine.” She said it softly, without looking back at her girlfriend, so there was no way that she would see the lie that her eyes probably would reveal. Olivia then turned around to move onto the next table, not looking back to see if Evelyn stayed or just left.

Once Patricia had explained to Evelyn why she was going out with Olivia that night, she waited for Evelyn to respond. Patricia presumed that it had been her later words which caused Evelyn to double check that it was okay for her to join them. Glancing at Olivia, Patricia saw that she was no longer looking or glaring at her, so decided to just go with what she wanted. She could always ask Olivia later if she was okay with her decision, and then if not they could always cancel the plans with Evelyn. Surely Olivia would have a phone number or something in her apartment so they could reach Evelyn.
“It does sound interesting and fun. Of course you can come. I would not of brought it up if you couldn’t.” Patricia smiled, as she picked up a pen and piece of paper off the counter. She wrote down the details for Evelyn, before handing it over to her. “There is the time and location so you can join us.” When Evelyn went over to talk to Olivia, Patricia returned to washing the used cups and plates. She heard Evelyn check to see if Olivia was okay, but failed to hear what the response was.
** Some time later - Olivia’s Apartment **
After they had closed the cafe, Olivia had driven Patricia and herself to her apartment. Once there Patricia had glanced around the apartment, wishing that she could have her own place. But she knew that that would take her a while to be able to do, it was not like either of her jobs paid her that much money. Of course that always followed with a thought of how she was not sure that she would enjoy being alone or away from her family. Olivia had allowed her to get changed first, while she had made them both coffees.
Once she had changed, taking her coffee off Olivia, Patricia decided to see if she could get some answers out of Olivia. “Are you okay about me inviting Evelyn? I don’t know if something is going on between you two, I just thought it sounded like a good idea so invited her.” Patricia provided a reason for why she did, and then took a sip of her coffee while she waited for Olivia to respond. “Are you sure you are okay?” Patricia checked, although she had not heard her response to the question when Evelyn had asked her back at the cafe. OOC - No godmodding done as Chelle said I could say Evelyn agreed, and I can say Olivia has done things since she is my character.

After double checking that Patricia would be ok with her joining the, Evelyn nodded when Patricia said of course she could join them. “Ok then, well that is true. Well I will go then.” Evelyn agreed with Patricia’s comment about how she wouldn’t have brought it up if Evelyn couldn’t come. When Patricia wrote down the details, Evelyn took the paper she was handed, barely glancing at it. “Thank you.” She smiled back at Patricia.
Evelyn noticed that Olivia seemed to be ignorant of her approach, & being there in general. She had no idea what she had done to make Olivia suddenly distance herself & no longer seem to want to talk to her. When she checked how Olivia was, she saw Olivia look at her, but it wasn’t long enough for Evelyn to see if when Olivia then said she was fine was a lie. Biting her lip, unsure if she should believe Olivia or not, Evelyn decided that she should just leave. “Fine, if you say so. I will see you tonight then.”
** That Night - At club **
Evelyn had met Patricia & Olivia at the club. The night was turning out to be fun, despite Olivia’s obvious distraction. Neither Patricia nor Evelyn could seem to cheer her up. The longer time Evelyn spent with Olivia, the more she worried over what was wrong, yet she didn’t want to ask in front of Patricia. She also doubted that Olivia would even answer. OOC: No godmodding done, as anything I wrote was from what Aurora & I agreed about. Gave up adding more as there wasn't anything else I could do without godmodding too much, even though there was some stuff (eg. Olivia leaving) that I'm aware about so I guess I could have added. Sorry it's so short.

After Evelyn had said she would be joining them, she had come over to check on Olivia. Olivia tried her best not to show her true feelings, while answering that she was okay. However when Evelyn responded Olivia knew that she did not believe her. She could hear the disbelief when Evelyn said ‘if you say so’. Olivia knew when Evelyn had left the cafe as she heard the door shut, but she did not see it since she was no longer facing that direction. Olivia felt bad for how she had acted, but she just was not ready to tell Evelyn how she felt. First she would come up with a way of saying it without hurting Evelyn, since she really did not want to lose her over it.
** Some time later - Olivia’s Apartment **
After they had closed the cafe, Olivia had driven Patricia and herself to her apartment. Once there Olivia had suggested Patricia get changed, offering to make her coffee while she was doing that. While making the coffees Olivia tried to push all thoughts of Evelyn, and the worries that came from them, out of head so that when she saw her again later that night she would be able to have a normal conversation with her, and hopefully convince Evelyn that she was really okay like she had said she was back at the cafe.
Once Patricia returned, Olivia handed her her coffee. It was then that Patricia checked that it was okay that she had invited Evelyn. Olivia really did mind, she felt that it would be easier and better if she did not have to spend the night with Evelyn there, but she could not say that to Patricia. Instead she continued with her lies, keeping up her masquerade that everything was okay. “Yeah, it’s fine. Why would I care that she will be there?” Olivia did not respond to the part that Patricia had said about her not knowing if there was anything going on between Olivia and Evelyn. What was she supposed to say? That there was nothing going on, she just could not help but feel like she was nothing and was being pushed aside all because of Evelyn’s most likely foolish fears over how her parents reacted. That all really was too much information for Patricia, and it was not her business. Although in truth, Olivia had not said anything about it to anyone, not even Nancy who she told everything to.
Patricia then asked if Olivia was sure she was okay. Olivia had no idea if Patricia had heard Evelyn ask her in the cafe, but presumed that she would not have been able to have heard her response as she had said it quietly. But then, even if Patricia had not heard her say she was, she probably had reason to wonder as Olivia knew she probably was not exactly acting like herself lately. “No, I am fine.” Olivia smiled, before disappearing to get changed.
** That Night - At club **
Olivia and Patricia had met Evelyn at the club. Although it seemed that both Patricia and Evelyn were enjoying themselves, Olivia could not bring herself to. Instead she spent her time caught up in her thoughts, causing silent moments, sadly mainly between herself and Evelyn. Olivia knew that Evelyn cared and was worried about her, but all she could think about was how she felt. She loved Evelyn, but she could not help but wonder if just maybe Evelyn did not care about her as much as she cared about Evelyn. Why else would Evelyn be so worried about what her parents would think? The only answer Olivia could come up with was that Evelyn refused to believe it herself, so she would never admit to it and tell her parents about them. If the relationship was not real in Evelyn’s mind, then it was understandable for her to not tell her parents.
After what seemed like forever, but had probably only been an hour, Olivia decided that she had to get her act together and just stop thinking. “I will be back.” She mumbled, walking towards the bathroom. OOC - It is fine Chelle, I knew it would be short and there was little to reply to. Hopefully this time I have given you something to reply to. This is Olivia's final post until the end. No godmodding in either this post or Patricia's as everything was spoken about with Chelle.

** Some time later - Olivia’s Apartment **
When Patricia checked with Olivia that it was okay that she had invited Evelyn, Olivia took a little bit to respond. It was like she had to think about it, or she was at least thinking about the correct response, before she told Patricia that it was fine. “Okay. No reason, I was just checking.” Patricia knew that Olivia’s question would most likely be rhetorical, but she answered anyway. Patricia could not help but wonder if maybe Olivia was lying, and there really was something going on between her and Evelyn. From her earlier behaviour at the cafe it had seemed like it, but maybe it was something else which had nothing to do with Evelyn that was on Olivia’s mind. It had seemed like Evelyn had not know what was going on with Olivia either though, which also concerned Patricia. If they were dating, she would have thought Olivia would talk to Evelyn about what was on her mind, which led Patricia to believe there was something going on between them.
It was then that Patricia checked that Olivia was okay. She could tell that something was wrong, Olivia just was not herself. Olivia said she was fine though, which also was not much of a surprise to Patricia. She had expected that as she did not think Olivia would tell her, of all people, if there was something wrong. Olivia was more likely to tell Nancy or Evelyn. It was clear in Patricia’s mind that she had not told Evelyn, but she had no idea if Olivia had spoken to their boss. At work, it was clear that Olivia and Nancy had a strong friendship, which probably had come from working together for so long. Patricia had no idea how long Olivia had been working at the cafe, she just knew that it had been for a long time - which just happened to be the same response that Nancy would give if she was ever asked. Like their ages, when it came to time, Olivia and Nancy were vague in their response. Patricia would not have been able to tell you which was older, or which had started working at the cafe first. Although presumably it would have been Nancy, unless Olivia had worked for whoever owned the cafe before her.
** That Night - At club **
Patricia and Olivia had met Evelyn at the club. Patricia had fun, despite the fact that she could not help but worry over Olivia. Olivia was obviously distracted; it was like she was off in her own little world. Both Patricia and Evelyn tried to cheer Olivia up, but it was obvious that both were failing. Olivia was just too lost in whatever was wrong, as Patricia knew there was despite Olivia telling her that she was fine. It was just too obvious that something was wrong. She had noticed the distance and silences between Evelyn and Olivia, so she continued to believe that whatever was wrong had something to do with their relationship.
When Olivia stood up, saying she would be back, it startled Patricia slightly. They had been sitting their quietly, and she really had not expected Olivia to do anything, let alone get up or speak. “Okay.” She said, watching as Olivia headed in the direction of the bathroom. Turning back to Evelyn, Patricia sighed. Playing with her straw she decided to see if Evelyn knew anything about what was going on with Olivia. “I thought going out would cheer her up, but I guess I was wrong.” She started the conversation subtly, hoping Evelyn would supply any suggestions or answers that she had about what was wrong with Olivia.

When Evelyn had agreed to join Olivia & Patricia that night, she hadn’t realised that she would spend the night with awkward & silent moments between Olivia & herself. Sure Patricia was experiencing the same thing since Olivia was so caught up in whatever was going on in her head that she was hard to reach, but it still hurt Evelyn to see & be around her girlfriend like this. She just wished she knew what was wrong. She couldn’t help but presume that it had been her. It wasn’t like she had been the best girlfriend these past two months, since they had gotten back together. She was too busy trying to hide Olivia, & keep her parents from finding out about their relationship & her own sexuality, that she really never actually sat there & was a proper girlfriend. In all honesty, Evelyn had absolutely no idea what was going on for Olivia right now, it really could be anything. She wasn’t spending the time to care for & about Olivia, so she just didn’t know. That was why she hoped she was right in blaming herself for the way Olivia was acting.
Both Patricia & Evelyn had tried to cheer Olivia up, to make her enjoy herself more, but both seemed to fail. Each time they did was like a stab to the heart as Evelyn imagination went wild trying to think about what Olivia could be thinking about, about what she had done to her. She worried that maybe, just maybe, Olivia was regretting taking her back, that she regretted them starting back up their relationship, that she regretted Evelyn even coming back - even if it hadn’t been entirely intentional. Evelyn loved Olivia though, & she didn’t want to lose her, so it hurt her more when her imagination started leading her down those paths too. All paths seemed to lead to Olivia leaving her, & there was no way Evelyn wanted that. She just had no idea how to stop it from happening.
When Olivia got up, Evelyn just blinked at her. Patricia was the one who responded to Olivia saying she would be back. Evelyn just watched her leave, wishing she could will her body to get up, to go after her. If she could somehow confront Olivia in the bathroom, maybe she could get some answers, & maybe she could stop the inevitable ending she feared. But she also knew it was no use, first she wouldn’t be able to talk to Olivia privately, & secondly she just couldn’t bring herself to stand & go & say the words she wanted to say to Olivia. How could she ask Olivia if she regretted their relationship & if she wanted to end it? What would happen if Olivia said yes? Evelyn didn’t want to ever hear that, she wanted to be with Olivia.
Patricia then spoke to Evelyn, & not really thinking about or concentrating completely in what she was saying, Evelyn answered. “I guess I'm to blame for how she is. Leaving in December, though I’m back now, wouldn’t have done her any good. It didn’t do me any good. Then I guess in some ways I haven’t come back the same.” Evelyn looked at Patricia’s obvious confusing, before going on to explain what she had meant by her previous words. “My parents moved to Houston, they don’t know about me, about my relationship with Olivia. Leaving her didn’t work, but now I guess hiding it all isn’t working either.” Evelyn glanced in the direction Olivia had gone in, longing to be with her & to be able to make things ok, before continuing to explain. “Either way I’m hurting her.” OOC: No godmodding done. Aurora and I discussed Patricia and Evelyn's discussion and agreed that Patricia would be confused by Evelyn's first words.

Patricia had no idea what was going on between Olivia and Evelyn. They were not often open about their relationship status, which considering the laws - or lack of laws - for homosexual rights in Texas was understandable. It had been made obvious to her earlier at the cafe that there was a relationship, other than friendship, between the pair. However Patricia also knew that for about three months, Evelyn was no longer one of the regular customers at the cafe, not to mention how different Olivia had been during that time. The way Olivia was acting now though, it was different again. She just was not herself, but was also not in the present moment. Patricia hoped that Evelyn and Olivia would be able to sort whatever it was wrong out, but that did not stop her from being curious about what it was. She never knew, she may be able to help them somehow.
When Olivia left, she did not miss the fact that Evelyn did not say anything. She also saw that Evelyn also watched Olivia walk away, however when Patricia turned back Evelyn was still watching where Olivia disappeared to. Patricia wondered what was on her mind, presuming that it was mainly worry. Playing with her straw, Patricia had made her comment about Olivia, hoping for some answers. When Evelyn responded, she supplied answers, though at first it was slightly confusing. Patricia had noticed Evelyn not being around for those three months, but she had not known if she had just been missing from the cafe or from Olivia’s life completely. She also did not know what Evelyn meant by her not coming back the same.
Patricia presumed her confusion was showing as Evelyn then went on to explain what she had meant, and what had happened. When Evelyn looked back in the direction Olivia had gone, Patricia could tell that she meant her words. Evelyn clearly cared a lot about Olivia and what she was doing to her by keeping their relationship a secret. Patricia had also noticed that Evelyn had only mentioned two options, but was missing the more obvious one - telling the truth. Patricia had no idea what Evelyn’s parents opinions on homosexuality was, but if the other two options were hurting Olivia, then surely it made sense to try the third. Evelyn clearly loved Olivia, so it made more sense for her to tell than to continue to hurt her.
Leaving her straw alone, Patricia voiced her opinion, not sure what Evelyn’s reaction would be. “There is a third option you could try. Really if you love Olivia, which you obviously do, then what people think of it shouldn’t matter. Look around you, you live in Texas. That hasn’t stopped your relationship, so why should what your parents think? Love is an important thing, and sure I may be single with little experience, but surely it makes more sense to hold onto it than let it slip away or hurt it?” Patricia paused then, returning to play with her straw, watching it twirl around in her glass as she continued to speak. “I understand that family is important, and that their opinions mean a lot, but maybe you need to think about what is more important to you?”

As Evelyn spoke, she had noticed the ay Patricia played with her straw. Evelyn wondered if she was doing it on purpose, to appear like she was just casually commenting about Olivia’s behaviour because she as curious for answers, or if it really was just a casual conversation. Patricia seemed like a nice person though, so she presumed it was the later. As Evelyn was speaking, she hadn’t missed the confusion which had been obvious & understandable after her first words. That had been why she had gone on to explain what she had meant. It seemed easy to come clean about things with Patricia, saying things she couldn’t tell anyone else. Sure Patricia was one of Olivia’s co-workers, but as far as Evelyn knew they weren’t close friends, so it wasn’t like Patricia automatically would be on Olivia’s side or judge her for hurting Olivia. Then if Evelyn spoke to one of her own friends, she felt they most likely would be on her side. Evelyn couldn’t help but feel that maybe Patricia would be a voice of reason, who wouldn’t take either side.
When Patricia did respond, Evelyn’s thoughts about her were proved to be true. Her words weren’t really coming from either side; they were more advice for Evelyn for her to stop hurting Olivia. Evelyn listened quietly to what Patricia said. Really she knew Patricia was right, there was a third option. But how could she tell her parents about something she knew they wouldn’t accept. She didn’t want to lose Olivia though, & right now it felt like she just might lose her if she didn’t do something about it. Patricia was right, they did live in Texas, which wasn’t exactly a state which supported homosexuality, but living in a state of strangers who may or may not accept was different to not knowing if her parents would. Having her parents accept was important to her. But then on the other hand Olivia really was important to her too. She loved her & didn’t want to lose her. Patricia’s comments about her needing to think about what was more important to her were right. Evelyn knew that. She had to stop hurting what she loved before it slipped away. “Maybe I do. I don’t want to hurt her anymore, & I don’t want to lose her. Guess I will just have to think about things. Thanks.” Evelyn said to Patricia, thanking her for her advice although it had never been asked for. It was helpful, & it did leave Evelyn with a few things to think about.
